Ernie C on guitar! So underrated. I think when a lot of people hear that Ice T has a metal band they assume it's just a vanity project or something, but Body Count were (and still are) the real deal.
Ice has said he started the band as a way to allow Ernie C to play guitar with him in heavy stuff that they both loved.
body count been around since late 90's just sayin... wikipedia knows shit about shit
@@_eclipz_ try early 90's
No, it is pretty much vanity project.
Agreed, his little licks are fucking amazing, and the solos 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Bro I remember when this album dropped. Everyone was tripping. It was hard as hell to find a copy with Cop Killer on it.
Still got my copy of it ;)
I was lucky enough to get my hands on an original version with cop killer on it. Then got it stollen from me a week later 😞
Got the first album in Vinyl, cassette and CD...got the CD signed by both Ice-T and Charlton Heston (was President of Warner Bros and got Cop Killer pulled from the album)😉😁
I had a copy but its long gone. They replaced it with the song "Freedom of Speech" With Jello Biafria from the Dead Kennedys. With an awesome Hendrix sample
@@ston3kill3r So do I, I wonder how those 2 never heard of it, it's so old.
Bodycount does a cover of Slayer and in the beginning he states "Ernie C loved to play guitar and I started a band to let him play. I started noticing in Europe that people would mosh to Rap. So I took the impending doom of Black Sabbath, the west coast gansta style of Suicidal Tendencies and the agressiveness of Slayer who is my favorite band and always will be."
Body Count- Institutionalized. That one cracks me up. And his wife is in the video.
Edit: Hell, I'm gonna go watch it again right now lol
The whole soundtrack to the movie Judgement Night needs to be heard. Metal and hip-hop orgy.
YES YES YES!!
Soundtrack ROCKS!!🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
I had forgotten all about that. Thank you for taking me back.
@@pberry29 If you like Helmet, there are some good remixes of Just Another Victim, out there.
I agree that is one of the best soundtracks from the 90s. They need to re-release it and include a lost track from the soundtrack, when the and credits roll in the movie I do believe that's the song Revolution between tool and rage
It was the hardcore grand-daddy to Nu Metal! So much better though, especially the Faith No More/Boo Yaa Tribe song - Another Body Murdered!!!
I remember when this came out. They were arguably one of the most controversial groups ever because of their song “Copkiller”. I bought the album and loved it.
If they thought this was controversial, wait til they hear Copkiller.
Body Count is one of the most underrated metal bands, but at the same time have them on the underground scene make the band so epic.
Check Slayer with Ice-T “Disorder”
Yes yes yes!!!!!
That is on the soundtrack from "Judgement Night" . There are a few very good songs on there. All are collaborations with metal and rap bands. Check it out !
When Body Count dropped "Cop Killer" the entire media went nuts about whether rap music was too violent. Not one of those people with jobs as "journalists" on TV even once heard the song or realized it wasn't a rap song. All they knew was the group was black so it must be rap.
When you said it’s “hardcore” you hit the nail on the head. That’s the genre. Rad group and reaction.
Suggestion: Green Jelly, Three Little Pigs
I concur... Green Jello sux. I had the C.D. that came with a VHS (before Jello sued them and they had to change their name). It had a music video for every song. I wore them both out. Other good songs of theirs is Anarchy In Bedrock, Shitman, Cereal Killer, and Green Jello Sux.
I agree, this is the best song in the world. And it has Danny Carey and MJ Keenan as band members.
i am friends with Bill Manspeaker the singer...dude still tours today. 1K and he will come to you and preform.
YES!!!!!!!!
@@Godspeed1756 big regret: pawning the Green Jello CD....
Yo ! That whole record was fire ! Even the Cuts in between the Cuts was dope as can be ! Like the excerpt that said " last night ,25 youth killed in gang warfare , now sports ! " Classic ! Every song is a beast !
I feel sad for the kids these days that missed this era.
And yes it was on MTV.
If I remember correctly the CD cop killer was banned from being sold in stores... Ice T had a real message with this metal band. Idk if they have another CD that was banned from being sold in stores. They have 5 CDs I believe and a current one released this year called carnivore.
This album blew my mind also loved Ice T, since seeing him in Breakdance the movie , his collab with Slayer - Disorder or Jamie Jasta ... not to mention his movies in the '90s Trespass , Surviving The Game ... Dude is a legend ... favorite Bodycount track .... necessary evil !!!!! have a good day
Take a listen to Body Count 'No Lives Matter', official video and watch, particularly, Ice T's introduction to the song.
100%
"Don't fall for the bait and switch. Racism is real but not it. The shit is ugly to the core. When it comes to the poor, No Lives Matter"
One of the most violent shows I ever went to in 1990. Virginia Beach police threatened to arrest him. Body Count came out on stage around 2:00 am and the place erupted in one big mosh pit and people getting bloodied . Ice-T loved it. Their stage setup was crazy ,too. Two big black body guards with shotguns on the sides of the stage and police lights and sirens blaring on the stage.
Check out Momma's gotta die tonight by Body Count. I don't think I've seen anyone react to that song before.
Literally all of the youth from Europe knew the album and the controversy around it in 1992 and the years to follow.
It was also massively hyped by the record company and both underground metal AND hip hop media. Meaning magazines and tv formats.
Ice T made a pr masterpiece of that one.
Before he was famous.
With Body Count and Cop Killer he got world famous.
Literally everybody in Europe who is in their 40s and 50s now knows Body Count.
Yo, Body Count is still going strong, Mudvayne-Under My Skin. Also check out Bad Brains, their all black Hardcore band that started out in the early 80's
YES! "KICK OUT THE JAMS"- BAD BRAINS W/ HENRY ROLLINS (MC5 Cover)
Thank you guys. It is allways a pleasure to watch your content. I'm almost 60 yrs old punkrocker and headbanger from northern Europe and it is so nice to find out new music and new thoughts on music. GG G's. :)
check out some newer stuff by Body Count:
Bum Rush
and,
When I'm Gone/ featuring Amy Lee
"Go out there and hurt everybody's feelings." That's a great line. Hahaha
Thank you so much for listening to us & doing Body Count.
After I first listened to them, i started looking into NWA, konda the reverse of you journey, going from Metal into Rap.
You guys should try "Institutionalized" from Body Count, a cover from Suicidal Tendencies.
Love the channel love metal reactions. Ice-t is 62 now.
And still doing a great job at everything he does
Black don't crack. \m/
Digicrap-
For years Trey Anastasio had a Bradshaw / CAE floor switcher. Used it to access rack stuff and what he called his "Dijicrap" (Whammy, Boomerang, etc...). But TS-9s were always in main line.
Great react.
Body Count’s debut album is one of my all time favorite albums.
Y’all kill me with the random clips at the beginning of your videos 😂
Saw them open for Metallica and Guns and Roses in early 90s.
They greatly surprised the crowd that day.
Better than GnR that night.
Bought their tape the next day.
I did know who Ice was beforehand.
That whole first album from Body Count is a motherfucking masterpiece!!! React to it from the start to the end!! Fabulous!
Regarding the Explicit Lyrics sticker that you felt obliged to put in... listen to their song "Freedom of Speech"
Just awesome i remember this video when it came out. Dropped jaws.
I bought this on tape the day it came out before it was took off the shelves because the song Cop Killer . But STILL to this day i rock this album ! And my friends ask "who is this ?? " And when i tell em they dont believe me ! Especially the kids 15 years younger than me !
I saw them live at Wacken 2019 - and it was absolutely awesome and a great performance! Try to get some footage of that show!!
Best moment: ICE-T saw a young girl with her mother standing aside and both loved him. So he greetet them personally and let them access the stage area for the rest of the concert.
Even ICE-T gets soft sometimes ;)
I was there as well. The "girl" turned out to be a long-haired boy. Ice T was so ashamed when he realized. Rare sight!
Great album. I remember picking it up when it first came out. Think the look on my face the first listen was similar to yours. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I loved it.
If u wanna be shocked by an all-black metal band then check out Death. From Detroit I think & only 3 members who I think are brothers.
Seeing ya guys face is killing me! Lol so damn hard. Need to watch all love is lost I think it's called by body count.
You guys should react to Body Count's track "Point The Finger", featuring Riley Gale (R.I.P.) from Power Trip.
Talk S++t, Get Shot is one of my favorite Body Count tunes....
Saw them live twice. ☠
Most fun I've ever had in a pit...good, friendly violent energy.
Ice-T was Woke before we knew what Woke was...🖤
Saw them myself in Providence RI. Got some swag from the tour bus but wasn’t able to meet T
Warning this song will melt snowflakes!!!
Me...I'm molten...
I really, really enjoyed this reaction!!
Next,(from the same album) do,
"Mama's Gotta Die Tonight".
If you think THIS song is hard,
...just you wait!
Body Count - Institutionalized
Musically, they covered and imo improved on a late 80s Metal song of the same title by a band called Suicidal Tendencies.
Lyrically, ST expressed anger towards society and religion trying to shape them. Body Count has a whole new set of lyrics about things that piss him off. Much more trivial matters, but it's hilarious.
I remember those times, had to buy the record under the table, loved it 👍🏻 Greets from Germany
Saw them live in 93. Best live show I’ve ever been to and craziest mosh pit I’ve ever been in.
THE BEST BAND, BEST SONG, BEST DRUMMER, BEST GUITARRIST AND THE MOST IMPORTANT: BEST LYRICS!
Bruh... Metal and rap have both evolved SO MUCH since that album dropped! How'd we even get from there to where we are now with bands like Jinjer or The Browning? (P.S. you should totally react to "Optophobia" 😂🤘😉)
Thanks for reacting to Body Count.
They still put out music and tour. Check out some other songs by them.
"Pop Bubble"
"All Love Is Lost"
"Civil War"
"Here I Go Again"
Stormtroopers Of Death - Speak English Or Die
SOD was formed as a parody thrash band by Anthrax members Scott Ian on guitar and Charlie Benante on drums, Nuclear Assault bassist Dan Lilker and Billy Milano of Method Of Destruction as the singer. The lyrics are meant as a joke, outrageously fucked up to piss people off and the band's motto is "We're not racist, we hate everyone."
You seen Charlie Benante and the gang jamming out to other songs? Like Rush, etc. Him, Scott Ian, Alex Skolnick from Testament, and the bassist from Suicidal Tendencies, etc. They still got it!! Haha! And they play some SOD tracks too.
johnny g Yeah, I'm subbed to Charlie's channel.
You guys should definitely react to more Body Count!!!
Hey, remember me? Show is looking good these days. You guys are getting better and the show is getting better. All the best and stay safe and healthy boys.
You should check out the Revolve by The Melvins. Great tune, cool video.
I saw Body Count with Exodus and DRI back in 90 what a great show
and they’re still going strong! check out some of their newer stuff like “bum rush” “black hoodie” and “pop bubble”... Ice-T drops nothing but knowledge on these tracks!
I got to see Body Count live in San Diego, Ca. when they were the opening act for the Metallica and Guns & Roses tour. They were pretty kick ass.
Saw them at this time One of the best gigs ever and ave seen lots
Another good one in this style is Anthrax/Public Enemy - Bring the noise
Bought this album in 92 here in São Paulo, Brazil. I love it forever!
Holy shit...now i know why you had the warning at the beginning...i've legit never heard this before. i'm having to pick up my jaw.
Body Count recently reformed, and put out two new and honestly really good albums. There's also a video of them covering a slayer medley on CZcams if you want to react to that too 🤘 Great band. Proving that the once-frought lines between rap and metal are closer than you might think
Not really a surprise as Ice-T has stated he is a huge Motörhead fan, Body Count are seriously Legit Metal, Really fucking good.
Do Black Label Society- In This River. The song is a tribute to Dimebag Darrell from Pantera after he was killed
Oh wow, thanks for this one....wr jave heard dimebag darrell was a legend in every sense of the word
Im gonna have to second this one. its a mastepiece of a song
Definitely worth a reaction, epic
Frist time I ever heard about Body Count was a couple of months ago when they put out their song Carnivore, great song lol
I'm from germany and I grew up with offspring - smash, green day - dookie and bodycount (1992). 3 iconic albums! we need more bands like bodycount, not just another rapper. we loved that record.
Best song he ever wrote.
He formed this as a vehicle for his friend Ernie C, who is one helluva guitarist.
BC is my youth spirit back then..the're freakin awesome, man!
Body Count in '97 was one of fhe best live shows I've ever seen and heard. They are exceptional!
Awesome song - brought me back to the 90s when this came out - the original album was banned due to the Cop Killer song. Luckily I got it before it came off the shelves.
The song cop killer was pulled. The album was re-released without it
Eventually Warner Bros dropped the band
As Ice said... getting a letter from the FBI was a badge of honor
But you don’t realize how real and scary shit can get until the Vice President of the United States is talking about YOU in a speech
You should react to "mommas gotta due tonight" by Body Count.
The 90's was a great time for music....I used to skateboard in high school to this stuff when it first came out.
3rd Strike, rap rock from the early 2000's. Only had one album but it was amazing. Super slept on. I recommend No Light, Blind My Eyes, City's On Fire, or All Lies
Great live show!!!!
You should try some of their newish stuff, it's pretty cool.
now, how come you haven't done more BC?! You should most definitely hit on the latest 2 albums! Excellent tunes.
Body Count is still rocking it, just released a new album plus they where supposed to tour Europe this year among other places.
Listend to them for over 25 years . 1 of the best rap metal bands ever .
Loved this song when it came out...
Also, react to Amon Amarth, Twighlight of the Thundergod...
I have seen them a couple times, they're great. ICE-T is freaking legend!
It's tragic that of this lineup, only Ernie C (the lead guitarist) and Ice-T are still alive. Within a few years, Mooseman (bass) was killed in a drive-by, and Beatmaster-V & D-Roc the Executioner died from cancer.
great song and band I bought th cd when it came out. He is my personal fav OOOOG!
Y’all gotta check out Body Count’s remakes of “99 Problems” !!!!! They did 2 different versions & both kick ass !!!!!
99 problems was Ice t originally
Much respect to Mr Ice T and the BC fellas. This was in the 90's too. Im a Ernie C fan too.. Dig his guitar shreds.
Back in the day when this came out we all wanted this cd, it was Banned from Copkiller which was all the rage and for good reason. There was an explosion or seeming explosion of cop on black crime and Ice T was the voice. Played the shit out of this!
I highly recommend check out Sound Barrier, Rock without the Roll, Born to Rock, just to start.
innovators for sure
There's a band that I listened to back in the 2000s called E-Town Concrete that covered this song. You should check that out. It's a really good cover, but a largely unknown/underrated band.
one of the best opening lines of all time haha
Voodoo is my fave. All tunes on this album are great. Saw them in the 90s in the UK
The late Mooseman on bass, criminally underrated.
First heard body count on the credits for universal soldier. We were kids and we had to watch the credits and ask the record store. We were whities from whitie town and all we knew was that was killer metal!
Dude, fricin' PRO-PAIN!!!😎😋🤣
just watched this video again today after many years... wonder how many people caught the burning guitar at 11:00 planted in the lawn of a mansion as a perfect answer to the burning crosses of history.
Just to give yall a timeframe for this album... This came out one year before Ice released Home Invasion. 1992 for BC and 1993 for HI.
I like that guitar rift in "Body count".
Evil Dick has a good riff too. The first Bodycount album is fun, even if it's a bit cringe.
all their álbuns you guys can listen straight up all. songs are dope inuse to heard when I was 16 in Portugal with my friend
It's funny you mentionned Slayer... Ice-T knows his metal: he told on several occasions (and on their recorded cover of Raining Blood) that he created Body Count just to give his buddy Ernie .C a chance to play his guitar and he wanted the band to sound like a mixture of Slayer's speed, Black Sabbath's vibe and some Suicidal Tendencies's punk influence.
BODY COUNT was formed by Ice-T back in 1989.
I watched it back in MTV Headbangers Ball in 1992. \m/
I love this . When this album came out , it was fire . Ice is a great man , givin his friends a platform . He didnt /doesnt need to , but did it for the love of the music and his friends . Lets all give ice respect
I fkn will if no1 else will lol
soft ,weak .
also , beatmaster fkn v
You gotta see the Suicidal cover they do. Awesome
English white guy here, loved BC in the 1990's. Ice-T and Body Count have done more to open understanding and vex tribalism than any other band I can think of.
Rap fans like it because of Ice-T.
Rock boys like because its hard core AF.
