Last time I saw them live they opened with this song, crowd went CRAZY!!! Love Megadeth! ❤
Dave Mustaine did reach into his heart for this song... It was about his ex-GF Diana and he was obsessed w/ her since the 1st Megadeth record "Killing is my business" in 1985. Mustaine wrote "Loved to deth" ... and name-checked Diana on the 1986 track 'Wake up dead'... from "Peace sells, but who's buyin'?"
From what I recall, Mustaine fired a Megadeth guitarist Jeff Young because he was caught on the phone talking about fantasizing being w/ Diana (Jeff Young denied anything happening w/ Diana) ... But Dave Mustaine was in bad shape from drug abuse and the relationship between him and Diana ended by 1989 ... and it was a bad year because Mustaine ended up in jail driving w/ 7+ illegal drugs in his system and the court forced him into rehab.
When Dave Mustaine wrote 'Trust' in 1997 (and another song 'Almost honest')... it was about breaking up w/ Diana (she married someone eventually and knew he had written about her)
Thankfullly, Dave Mustaine soon met his current wife Pam Casselberry and they were married in 1991 and have 2 children together (His son Justis had Mustaine's granddaughter in 2023) ... Dave & Pam nearly divorced on numerous occasions, but somehow, they found their way back to each other every time.
Such a great song.
This was my first Megadeth song, and also one of my first Metal songs.

I still believe people don't listen to Dave Mustaine for his vocals, but his lyrics are great and relevent.
I know quite a few people who actually love his vocals, personally I can appreciate them for what they are
I love Daves vocals.. Its Metal and Mustaines vocals and approach is exactly what Metal needs more of.. Mold breaking.. Not rule following.
Seems people either love or hate Dave’s voice. Personally, I love it! So raw and gritty, and unconventional!

It has like 6 classics and 6 trash songs though lol. So it is inconsistent

You should check on the live version of this in Sofia 2010. Best version of this song.
Just to let you know and you can research this, Dave Mustaine LOVES his fans more than many may want to believe.
The Guy comes from very humble beginnings and doesnt act like a "ROCK STAR".
Larz Ulrick comes from a rather wealthy background where almost everything was at his disposal. A rich kid with a set of DRUMS.
Dave had (and still has) more natural talent than Larz, so out of jealousy Larz used any exuse 'at his disposal' to eject Dave from METALLICA. Dave became violent when he got heavily drunk.
Since Larz(with a large EGO) had CLIFF Burton (the second large ego of the band) on his side to have Dave ejected from the band, James Hetfield was outnumbered by 2 Votes. That is why JAMES was the only one to see Dave to the bus station, saw him to his departure, to send him back to California in 1983.
After Daves's departure from Metallica the "BLACK BALLING" started spreading far and thick, that DAVE was the biggest ASSHOLE around. MEAN an arrogant. . . .
This couldn't be further from the truth. If anything at all, he was plane angry. All the music from
'Kill em all' and 'Ride the lightning' was written by Dave, and Larz took it all , and tried taking full credit for it.
Dave will always welcome new ways for his music to be displayed, thats probably why you werent blocked out by

Large EGO Ulrick may have a different opinion when it comes to anything Metallica-related.
Dave Mustaine has risen higher than his former band because he is not afraid to take risks. The man Has been more successfull and has outperformed Metallica so much that it isn't even a competition. Dave has become so successful that he's not going to wory about a small loss on royalties.

I think m'lady needs to immerse in some major girl power, and in the mix y'all also get to see what many think are one of the very best bands around currently. Warning this is a very deep rabbit hole, but the very best kind.
