- Sound recording of a flywheel fitted ZF AS-Tronic boxed Alexander Dennis E200 being driven with the gears being selected by the driver.
Due to the noise disturbance caused by the flywheel it's advisable not to apply too much throttle at antisocial hours! - Zábava
That flywheel is mental! Has to be one of my favourite vids from you😳
I love your vids keep up the good work
Thank you!
RIP -8837 YY64 YJU-
this one went kaboom in Richmond on the 490! I miss if
This bus blew up yesterday whilst working route 490
Yeah, I saw the clip before the fire got worse, smoke started coming out the ad blue mini door near the vent on the right side
Great video.☺️ This is very loud. This must be the loudest E200 I’ve ever heard. Now I know why the E200’s that run on the route G1 change gears like a B5LH after being modified to comply with euro6 emissions standards.☺️
G1's E200s were never modified to Euro6. They always have been Euro6 since bought.
or your VOLUME is loud
I’ve always had a little issue with these! But they do seem to kick though!!
The 490 bus makes this exact same sound
yeah
I loved the Gyro Flywheel noise though. Maaaaaaad!
Yes it sounded crazy! During unsociable hours I would avoid revving the bus like this to avoid disturbing residents with that loud flywheel!
That flywheel is present in all ADL Cummins engines and makes it scream
"Flywheels" don't make noise! 🤷
It's either the power steering pump whine or the straight-cut-gear-driven camshaft.
@@ChrisRichmond nah its not a whine, you can hear its airy but yeah every engine uses a flywheel and the flywheel doesnt make noise like that usually
Amazing catch! Rip headphone users lol. Also I wanted to ask you if that’s ok but how do you just post audio? :)
I do these in Windows Movie Maker. You add a photo to the timeframe then after you can add music. On single deckers I often use the sound recorder on my phone rather than a video camera.
This certainly isn't gonna have DPF problems.
The enviro 200s sound more squeaky on the H28 (Abellio).
It sounds like a Scania!
I now see that bus on the 490 but its now all red
WOOOW 11:30 - 11:55 IS AMAZING!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@KickdownLondon yep still do 😂
I didn't like the AS-Tronic as it's jerky. EYMS rettrofitted their E400 Hybrids with ZF Ecolife boxes mated to a Cummins 3.9 ISBe. That probably could be done on an E200 with a few mods.
Even Volvo THD10Xs can’t beat the scream of Cummins B series
Which batches of E200s have these ZF as-tronics in London please ? These sound absolutely mental !
These, for the 407 and 201, the 15 plates for the 322 and G1, some 64 plates on the W14 and the 65 plates on the 164. Hope that’s answered your question!
Yes that has. Many Thanks 👍
Enviro Explorer no problem!
@@EnviroExplorer and some 15/65 reg E200s for the 162/352/R2
BusesinLondon345 Tower transit ones are Allisons, way smoother tho.DMV45108 / 107 are the best in the fleet
If only Rotherham had these... would be flying up all hills like Wharncliffe Street and Dale Road (merges with Far Field Road)
Yes, they are pretty nippy if the gears are held!
Hopefully whenever I come to London, I have a ride on one of those. They seem amazing
Many hate them but they're ok for a novelty ride. Bear in mind they won't sound like this as here the driver was deliberately hammering it using the manual select buttons - 99.9% of drivers won't do that!
I'm guessing many people hate them because it's "too loud" or "too jerky." But I agree, the driver (probably you :p) was hammering it down and it sounds amazing
changes gear like a b5lh
With these buses, are you able to choose between an AT or a MT?
Charlie Blagg thanks for the info!
Or, as everyone else calls it, semi automatic.
@@duraab27 Semi automatic is where the transmission computer module automatically engages the clutch for a sec as you press the button to shift
Manual is where you yourself have to press the clutch pedal as you shift at the same time
They nearly sound like the ADL 200MMC's that I have near my area like the 367 Abellio they dont have any issues when kickdown but those ADL E200 I do like them but certainly burn there engine out.
Those ones are Allison. They are becoming very popular with smaller companies across the UK and sound the best I think. Allison’s now come as standard in dealer stock MMC200s, though London companies obviously order theirs to their own specification
The 367 batch of MMCs do not have kickdown.
The only batch to have kickdown are the batch for P13 at Walworth and U9 wherever that's based I believe
@@LondonTransportMaster And also the H20 batch, the 66 plate allison batch at its garage
@@LondonsTransport Some do, some don't but the one I went on either had a heavy footed driver or the kickdown was just enabled back then.
It’s YY64 not YV64
Nice one but hate to break it to you every engine uses a flywheel
No they don’t…
@@BusesinLondon345 Yes they lol, look up the parts for a combustion engine and you will always find a flywheel connected on to the crankshaft. The flywheel is there to store mechanical energy to balance the engine so that it continues to have good performance
Are these e200s manual gearbox
Daniel's UK Transport videography semi autos
This bus is semi-automatic meaning drivers can change between manual and automatic.
However, most older buses including B7TLs have a thing called Holding Gears. This keeps revs low, and is sort of manual, as the driver chooses when to change gears, but the computer tells them when to do so. This means revs kept low are saved for when it's needed (eg fast acceleration or hil climbs)
They're an automated manual like a Volvo IShift basically a manual gearbox with a clutch and pressure plate but with a computer changing the gears instead of the driver and no clutch pedal
@@brianodoherty9523 These buses do have upshift and downshift gear selectors in the cab, meaning the driver can do manual inputs to change the gears. This video here shows that quite well:
czcams.com/video/tRpK0XbNvmU/video.html
@@LondonTransportMaster You mean they are semi automatic/automatic. Manual would mean you got to engage clutch yourself as you shift, but the transmission computer module does that automatically for semi automatic systems
