- The genus Tamarix is composed of about 50-60 species of flowering plants in the family Tamaricaceae, native to drier areas of Eurasia and Africa. The generic name originated in Latin and may refer to the Tamaris River in Hispania Tarraconensis.
Very cool
Tamarix can grow as north as Alaska and as south as the Caribbean Islands.
You bet they can. Very hardy tree
And invasive in Colorado. Too cold to be tree only shrubs.
@@frankiemeyer8372 Still great as shrubs too
@@BananaJSSI yes I see that way almost everywhere in Colorado rivers and some place in Colorado springs away from river.
Thats cool! What zone are they hardy to
I think some can take down to zone 3 so very hardy
Look like they trained into tree instead let it become shrub.
Theydo grow to trees here and also you can keep them as lower shrub like plants
@@BananaJSSI yeah they grow this way almost everywhere in Colorado and on invasive species list. I think too cold to allow to grow from shrub into tree.
