Well the "issues" you explain with the vesc breaking and accelerating too hard, is just basic setup, the VESC offers you to fine tune it yourself, but essentially you could just set exponential throttle and break to "fix" most of your issues, also the difference is also VESC is Current i.e. Amp based throttle while ling yi is often duty cycle, so when it free spins it behaves differently, you can run duty cycle on the VESC too, just most people dont prefer it.

What you're experiencing with the throttle response is more so a product of a number of unfortunate things. The remote itself isn't very precise; the Flipsky VX2 has a fairly clunky throttle map, and since it's a UART remote, the throttle map is handled internally, and can't be configured in VESC tool like a PPM remote can. So you're stuck with the large deadband of nothing in the middle, and a fairly low granularity in the throttle resolution.
In addition, the amount of acceleration is changeable, as you can shift the throttle curve to distribute the proportion of current per throttle position in VESC tool.
As for holding a constant speed, that's generally doable on VESC based boards, as the current applied eventually reaches an equilibrium with the total drag of the rider and board. This isn't reproducible when the board is on a bench, since it has to be loaded. In practice, it's fairly doable.
The Flash is a nice looking clone of the Metroboard X, so the styling is decent, however it's not a good representation of what a VESC based eskate is capable of.
    Cheers.
Edit: Keep in mind, watts are units of power whereas watt hours are units of energy. The battery ratings would be in watt hours. However, those ratings are essentially useless in this use case, because the Flash uses inferior cells for this application. The sag you're experiencinge ends up cascading into what results in less range, and poorer performance and cycle life due to its lower current ceiling and higher internal resistance. The build quality of the battery itself is also unknown, so one can't speak to its longevity and durability.

Very interesting information! That suck that the deadband isn’t able to be fixed or even adjusted, I’m fine riding it in medium for acceleration, but I do wish I had that extra control.
For constant speed, it’s weird because I can easily do that with my hobby-wing boards on the bench but not so on the flash.
I’ve always compared the WH of a board to the general range it can achieve, and seeing that it has 100+ more WH than the hurricane that it would receive more range, but do you believe that the lower quality cells and lower current would amount to this?
I’m not fairly knowledgeable in batteries motors currents and all these things, but I’m glad I could show in a video what I experienced via the ESC, because it certainly can be improved

@@DruMarr I've come to understand that Hobbywing and Lingyi ESCs are programmed to relate the remote input to either a speed or duty cycle, and so the position of the throttle on the remote is usually proportional to that speed range or duty cycle percentage. One can actually set up a VESC like that, but it's not generally done, and instead the remote is linked to acceleration and braking strength. I prefer that, since while riding, you still have available punch even if you're riding at a higher speed. Evolve boards are configured similarly to Hobbywings in this way, which is why a board like the Hadean runs out of steam above 12-15mph, and the acceleration becomes weak.
As for the battery, essentially yes. The watt hour rating doesn't really translate to range in this case. I would wager that if you did a side by side of aggressive riding, the Hurricane would net you equal range, or maybe a hair more, with less sag below half charge.
I actually did a guest spot in one of Jimmy Chang's videos discussing this exact topic. You can. Jump to 2 minutes in:

Speed tests soon, I feel as if it has the same torque and top speed, they’re always neck and neck when I ride

    • @DruMarr

I think this board is so good looking, I prefer these 150mm wheels than the hurricanes 155,
They feel like they have the same torque, and it might have more range, I’ll be doing a range test between the two so I don’t know yet, but we will be doing speed tests.
It’s so hard to say, without knowing the true range and acceleration difference lol
