    Little extra tip on checking for motion of cars that I learned while riding. Watch the wheels and the driver more than the car itself. The wheels will show you if the vehicle is actually in motion and then lock eyes with the driver if you can. This has saved my tail a few times when I "thought" a car was stationary. Y'all stay safe🤙

    Direct drives are awesome. No maintenance, super slient, and you can switch out the wheels. Never understood why people are so reluctant with DD's. Probably because of unfamiliarity and just being used to what they are used to.

    • @rusinsr
      @rusinsr Před 2 lety

      And the lack of torque + difficulty to repair when something does go wrong. DDs probably are the future though.

    • @Siscast
      @Siscast Před 2 lety

      @@rusinsr The DD has plenty of torque. Unless you need enough torque to get thrown off the board at every start for some strange reason...and where would it break for needing repair in the first place? You mean if the motor spontaneously combusted lol? You see what I mean. People are just reaching now

    • @rusinsr
      @rusinsr Před 2 lety

      @@Siscast I have a pair of Torqueboards direct drives. The most powerful direct drives on the consumer market, as far as I'm aware. At 80A they are weaker than a dual drive 6355 setup. And one of the motors is going bad due to a bearing internally which I cannot replace without a press machine.

    • @Siscast
      @Siscast Před 2 lety

      @@rusinsr No one is denying DD's have less torque than a belt drive. The question is, how much torque do you really need and how is having less than a belt drive necessarily a bad thing? Torque is circumstantial and I wouldn't put it as a negative. Also, it's not lack of torque, but less torque than... Your motor issue sounds like a specific motor problem and not necessarily a DD issue. A belt drive that needs belt maintenance is a belt drive issue. Belt drives has motor issues too but I wouldn't specify that as a belt drive issue. Do you see what I'm saying?

    • @rusinsr
      @rusinsr Před 2 lety +1

      @@Siscast Yup, we're on the same page for the most part. I'm just saying that DDs are more difficult to repair when something does go wrong (even though it's less likely), and that they produce less torque compared to alternatives, which IS a big deal. I wouldn't consider using them on the high powered boards I like to ride. (Especially if you care about quickly braking during an emergency)
      That said, they definitely can be the best choice for a lot of people!
