“Vanish I will. My little cloak, I will leave you…”
🤣 😂 🤣
Yoda failed vs inferior enemy he was done then never recovered mentally after that
My man trained Jedi for 800 years. let him "retire" in peace.
Destroyed the jedi order with his blindness
Why Yoda didnt join the rebellion "too old I am for this shit."
Yoda.
😂😂😂😂
Yoda was Palpatine main target within the Jedi Order could have brought the doom of the Rebellion considering Sidious would have done everything in his power to destroy him.
Pretty much this. Part of what lead to the Empire's downfall was that they had severely underestimated the Rebellion at every step of the way. I can only imagine how much tougher things would've been had Palpatine knew Yoda was still in the fight and leading the Rebellion, frfr
Exactly. It would have been over pretty quick.
Yep. Part of what allowed the rebel alliance to rise was the fact the emperor did not consider it a true threat. Yoda being there would’ve legitimized the cause way too fast when it wasnt ready. When Luke finally arrived and started his Jedi training it was in far stronger more survivable state as then Vader did start hunting Luke and by extension the alliance.
Yeah! Spot on. The rebellion came to fruition because Yoda remained in exile. The emperor would have been relentless if Yoda lead the rebellion….it rose in Yodas exile. what is a big weakness of the Emperor??? “Your overconfidence is your weakness “ -Luke , He underestimated the rebellion
Nah the Jedi were scared straight cowards
This is great reasoning. Yoda trained new Grandmaster. Luke completely reformed Jedi.Yoda learned so much from his mistakes. He gained great wisdom and understanding. May the Force be with you too always😁
"The long view have I, the long game I am playing"
had Yoda joined Rebellion, Sidious would have considered Rebellion big threat much faster and used a lot more resources to track and destroy them so Yoda staying out of it kinda made sure that Sidious kept believing rebellion is just small annoyance that cant do anything really
I always got the feeling from Revenge that at the moment of Order 66, Yoda felt wounded by the loss of so many Jedi. Not that the living force was weakened by their deaths but that it hurt Yoda because he knew he wasn’t paying attention or rather, blocked from seeing the finality of what was leading up to it
Good comment
Funny enough the Force was balancing itself with Order 66. Think about it. How many dark side users were there compared to light side users.
@@xx_cloud_xx5055force users. The force isnt recognising the dark side as a balance, instead its a cancer. Siths bend the force to their will.
@@xx_cloud_xx5055That's not what balance means in the force. The force in balance is all light side in its natural state. Dark side twists the force out of balance.
@@ImJustRob.exactly. The jedi learn to understand the "will of the force" and submit to it.
The siths ignore it and bend the force to fulfill their own will. It's still weird though, the concept was never fully fleshed out in my opinion
My man Yoda learned his lesson very well...Knowing that in the present moment of the Empire rising, trying to kill Sidious and Vader was a certain road to another failure. Having already faced the Emperor and failed at that, he couldn't afford another failure. If he wanted to succeed, he had to be patient. As someone said, he let the rebels grow by finding their own path struggling by themselves without the Jedi, in a way because the Jedi were very few and had to remain hidden to bring forth a new generation of Jedi to face the Emperor and Vader. Yoda played the old Guerrilla tactics way to spend time until Luke or Leia were ready to be trained. A pivotal factor of Yoda being hidden was that he along Obi-wan had already planned to recruit the Skywalker's offspring to fight against the empire and hoping to be victorious this time. That is why Yoda told Obi-wan that 'there's another' meaning Leia in case Luke failed when he went to face Vader in Lando's Cloud City.
Kyle katarn was a self trained jedi in the rebel alliance
I mean yoda wrecked sidious but then he had to go cos clones were arriving
@@grrumakemeangryYah he put up a good fight with Sidious, but he couldn’t beat him. Their duel was basically a draw.
There were a few jedi that joined the rebels though. Ashoka, Rahm Kota, Caleb Dume for example.
@@Whoami691 Yet, all of them eventually drew the Emperor and Vader's attention to them when they were too powerful for the Empire's forces to deal with.
Had he not been covered by the dark side on Daegobah, The Emporor would have sensed him. Had he came out of exile, nice moral boost for a moment, then EVERYONE gets washed and noone would be there to train Luke. Yoda played his role and did the right thing which was the will of The Force all along.
Yoda HAD to stay directly out for all the reasons you pointed out. He did contribute by training Luke though, which was though a short ( no pun intended) period, vital to the story. Luke is the redemption of Anikin, Obi-won, AND Yoda.
Because he remembered a great bit of wisdom that was delivered by another dark helmeted villain, namely that "evil will always triumph, because good is dumb."
"Merchandising, Merchandising!"
America's fate right now
I think the greatest enemy of that struggle is not the good or evil but everyone else's apathy
We ain't found shit!
Nice one
The Rebellion's greatest tactical advantage from beginning to end was Palpatine underestimating them. Even though the victory at the Battle of Yavin made the Empire see them as it's main immediate threat, Palpatine's conversation with Luke and overplaying his hand at the Battle of Endor shows that he still underestimated them to the end and probably did not dedicate all his attention and resources on stamping them out. Having Yoda reveal his presence and participating in the Rebellion would have probably brought much more heat on them, especially any cell that he was apart of, as we know he had gone to Dagobah specifically to hide his presence in the Force. If Vader or Palpatine or an inquisitor had discovered him among the Rebellion, they probably would have brought all force to bear on him and whoever he was with.
Yoda absolutely smashed palpy on coruscant but he realized that luke should be the new grandmaster and trained him
Had my man Palps on the ropes…
Not really, as he said, “failed, I have.”
The mission was to kill Palpatine, who then would not have rescued Vader. Problem would have been solved.
He would have been a figurehead at best, and although educating Jedi potentials would have given the Rebellion hope and the Empire despair, it wouldn't change much.
Yoda realized from his failure that fighting the way he did last time was duplicating failure. Instead he chose to rely on the Force. The task was the Emperor not winning a war. He was more willing to look down the road and let the people grow. Struggle is part of life. Let them make their own symbols and create their own hope. Let them succeed and fail, when the moment was right and the Force willed it he would act.
That’s deeply heartbreaking. Phenomenal video fam! So much more respect for yoda now
Now I wanna see prime High Republic Yoda vs ROTJ Sidious
Yoda wouldn't even need his lightsaber ....
in lightsaber duel Yoda would destroy Sidious but with force powers their match could be epic and i have no clue which one would win that match

Amazing video, as always
Ikr? Whole point was to set up a new start for the Jedi order and republic, and they just throw it all away to have grimdark grump Old Luke. So sad to see…
To be fair, the old EU had the same problem with the Fel/Darth Krayt's empire.
One of my own personal beliefs on this topic was Yoda didn't want to paint such a larger target on the Rebellion. I don't want to crap on their initial efforts, but for a time, I feel, they weren't really a threat to the Empire. The Emperor wanted to be rid of them, certainly, but he knew they would be a thing, and now he knew who they were. They weren't really a credible threat, and so while Palpatine woyld devote resources to minimalizing their results, he could afford to let them continue to exist. They were a target for the Empire to face, but nor worry about losing to, so he kept letting a part of then exist to draw more rebellious elements out, and continue having a target to direct his Empire against. If they had had a real threat, like the returning Jedi Grandmaster, they might've become seen as more dangerous, and needed to be crushed fully, still back when they were so weak. At that point, even a powerful Jedi would have struggled to be in enough places at a time, or advising enough missions to make a bigger impact than that the Empire would have added upon them. At least to me, I feel that the Rebellion's greatest advantage was its anonymity, small scale, and sort of joke mentality. These allowed them to survive, and grow, and eventually pull several impossible victories, despite the threat they posed, or the lack of bigger threats to crush first. Yoda left them small, and unassuming enough to allow them to grow into the threat the Empire couldn't ignore, or best.
Best video yet. You added so much debate to the story
I like these fill-in explanations
I can definitely understand the amount of guilt and shame eating at them from the inside. And his age is definitely something I had to consider at the time. Even Obi-Wan Kenobi was getting old and there was so much someone can do at his kind of age
Just watched Return of The Jedi in concert, and this really adds a lot more to Yodas character then the movies did for him
I believe that had Yoda revealed himself and joined the Rebellion two things will likely have happened... Those who still hated the Jedi would likely never join the Rebellion or possibly leave.
Palpatine would have taken the Rebellion far more seriously and vastly increased the resources used/given in fighting it.
Yoda knew the irony of the rule of 2 was now set on the Jedi. Or at the very least the old unchanging Jedi way. Yoda knew he he wasn't long for the world and if he defeated palps it would only be temporary because there is no new Gen to carry the torch and to change the Jedi. So he trained luke and stopped using the force to extend his life. He fulfilled his true purpose.
And then we got Rey. And it all went to hell
😂😂😂😂😂😂pretty much
Eat shit.
Who's that? That "new" trilogy isn't canon.
I have CZcams based OCD but you kept me focused for over 8 minutes and 41 seconds. Great presentation and explanation.
I thought the secret is that Force Ghost training makes you age really quickly, so Yoda, Obi-wan, and Luke got super old right before the transformed into Force Ghosts.
That’s funny I didn’t even really think about it until you did this video.
I... Don't watch star wars. Like. Ever. But the lore is so fascinating. The disconnect is almost hysterical.
Everyone in the rebellion would have gravitated to Yoda, as a symbol if nothing else. But I doubt he trusted himself to lead anymore
This video got me through a Spicy #4 with large fries and a Dr. Pepper. Thank you for your service, The Stupendous Wave!
I feel like Yoda did what many politicians do when they have screwed up. They resign and leave the mess for someone else to deal with. It’s fair enough that his age was a factor, but during the Clone Wars there were so many obvious clues about the plot and his inaction and complacency resulted in a W for the Empire.
You nailed it. Other Jedi wanted to take action. But Yoda's old arse just wanted to fade away in peace. He stopped them from looking for the Sith. He didn't let them oppose the corrupt Republic. "Serve the Republic, we do". His time was 300-400 years ago.
You are 1000000% right. Dead on
The real reason? Lucas knew the SFX didn't exist to make it happen yet :)
Yoda is the worst Jedi Grandmaster of all time. The Jedi Order fell under his watch, and he failed in his responsibility to prevent that. Almost every major decision the Jedi make is a neutral and wrong one.
Yoda was looking at look Luke like “you got this right bro” 😅
This article sums it up quite eloquently. It also mirrors events in The Last Jedi, and conversations between Luke and Yoda in that controversial and misunderstood film.
Yoda knew he was the reason that the empire rose. He was wrong and he knew his way was wrong.
What???
on top of his own, yoda had to bear the hubris of the jedi who built the temple over the dark side nexus & neglected to pass down an appreciation of that threat.
As Yoda himself said in his own canon comic to Obi-Wan ghost, he know he can't beat Vader or the Emperor because they become too powerful even for him.
I like to think it was simply because he still loved Anakin and knew he'd have to fight and kill him or possibly die furthering his spiral and not wanting to contribute to said spiral.
As long as Yoda won’t join, the emperor won’t join either. 😂
10/10 video
Yoda was literally dying of old age when Luke started fighting the empire, the fuck did you think he was gonna do?
“Old have I become. Sick and weak.”
Obi-Wan wasnt old. He was 57, when he died on the Death Star.
5:27 as a sith myself I have to give credit where credit is due…Yoda was detrimental in training the vehicle of the prophecy being Luke Skywalker. Yoda was one of the biggest pieces in ending the rule of two and commencing actual balance. So he did not lose to the rule of two, he was a pillar of the construct that ultimately defeated it.
He's wrong, "The old ways are no longer true"
The jedi have not always been as he perceived, they were not stuck as he perceived
It was his cowardice to act that sunk the ship, not his failing to initially notice taking on water
Yoda could see his defeat in advance, if you were an 800 year old psychic with knowledge of your defeat at a man thrice your size youd be timid too..
Yet he went, time and time again, fostering the seeds which would save the Galaxy
It's always amusing to read that people don't understand this. Yoda basically gave up on life, and was suffering from depression and heartache, and survivors guilt. Jedi and sith in legends have lived for longer through force of will alone but Yoda was losing his connection because he was losing his conviction.
Seeing videos like this really makes May miss the old Canaan instead of passes in every video that I see I start to realize that I think I prefer the ledgers material over the canon
At the least you could’ve used his battle meditation, but in the end it was still too much of a risk for him to join
If it killed Luke, it would have killed Yoda never giving Yoda a chance to train Luke.
If you were 900 years old, would you wanna fight? Hell nah. That's like a 90yo going into WWIII.
Nobody reading this can be 900 years old so your comment makes no sense. Nor is it comparable to a 90 year old man or ww2
To me maybe if Yoda had 1 percent of the influence for luke and Leia and bringing them together and to have them to train as a jedi but also using the dark side, and with obi wan help like give them words and advice about the force but let them both choose and decide how they will end up yes but thats it

It would be an interesting What If to see what could of happened if Yoda and Obi Wan started training Luke and Leia with the help of Ahsoka and others that survived Order 66. I get they probably would have gotten discovered, but to see what could have been would be awesome.
Yoda never recovered from the fall of the jedi
Bullshit. He telling himself there's nothing he could do and already lost the war? No, he had to CHANGE. That was the one thing Yoda had to do and everything that told him he had to he did nothing and kept the status quote. Dooku and Qui-gon warned him things were going down a dark path and so was the Republic and how many viewed the Jedi. The acts of Jedi who disagreed with the war like Bariss and other Jedi should have shown them things were wrong and they did nothing. Throwing one of their own aside in Ahsoka and doing nothing to help her. The Jedi doing everything they can to drive a wedge between Anakin and themselves with every chance they can. No Yoda could have led the Jedi to victory and had ample chances, but he is the Grand Master who made all the wrong choices: complacency, arrogance, and refusal to change. Yes, Yoda realized he failed but only when all the events already happened.
Fight not more. Old I am.
And neglectful i was
Yoda would have brought way too much attention to the early rebellion
I think there was a balance in the force in a certain point of view because there were 2 strong force users on both sides Yoda and Obiwan and Palpatine and Vader at least in an odd way there qas balance
I hope we see a young and effective Yoda in Future lore.
Figured, an it looked like, Yoda was busy doing what kenobi did a little bit.. only for alot longer in Yodas case, an just beat himself up refusing to do what he advised others to do for centuries.. EVEN Luke an Obi, get over it an move on... somehow thinking he couldnt be a much needed help both in advise an fact that he coulda single-handedly intervened in ANY of those battles, like Hoth for example, an took out all sorts of their troops.. even at his FINALLY "too old for this" age.... kinda defeats the whole argument its not about being physical an the Force could allow for ANYTHING...
Jedi lost the clone wars by fighting at all and fighting what they believed was a sith controlled empire in the form of the separatist alliance. Basically making mistake of refighting the previous war in the new.
Yoda growing weaker and conscious of his mistakes had one big task left to do in training the new hope that was Luke and ensuring the downfall of the sith and the birth of a new changed and evolving new jedi order. Had no time or excess strength left to waste to go and fight with the rebellion.
The force in Buddhist tantra is called Akshobya x.
All due respect, this is incorrect. He was training in his exile (as he instructed Obi to) and learning to transcend death. If you watch Clone Wars, the last of the Yoda episodes where we went off to learn the skill from Qui Gong, he said Yet, open to us, a path remains that unknown to the Sith is. Through this path, victory we may yet find. Not victory in the Clone Wars, but victory... for all time”.
Basically the immortality that the Sith always wanted and the ability to live beyond death as Force Ghosts and influence, commune and use the force in a physical sense (like the lightning bolt in ROS… even though I hate that movie) is the pathway to victory… to training the new Jedi and helping them along the way “Run Luke!”
Your welcome lol
Wrong, the Rebel insignia was the Marek Family crest. The sacrifice of Galen Marek inspired the rebellion to use it as their insignia and a symbol of hope.
What is the Legends explanation?
He and obi wan both knew they had a different job ordained by the force. To protect and then train luke. If obi wan abandoned this post to fight with the rebellion, then the empire could’ve found him, or even maul. If yoda ended his exile to fight for the rebellion then luke wouldn’t have had a teacher with the most knowledge of the Jedi. It’s possible they could’ve beaten the empire. But the chances of beating the empire that way was lower than the chances of Luke beating the empire.
Probably Yoda feeling like he failed in some way maybe guilt? I remember in Episode 3 he jumps in the car with that Senator guy and saying "Failed have I"
Yoda ran!
He didn’t have to, but would have been nice if he helped protect his student , Luke.
He should have help alittle
He did, by extending his training to Luke.
@@dephraction_and told him to fight vader.
Vandar Tokare did not survive the First Jedi Purge. He was consumed by Nihilus, along with nearly all the Jedi on Katarr.
Yoda made the wise choice to get out of the way and stay away it would have been far better if he learned this lesson far sooner than he did.
Because the Sith'ari was too much for him. 🖤✊
Well he was on a mission, his mission succeeded....it required patience,
The video argues that Yoda decided not to join the Rebellion because he believed the Jedi Order needed to change and he wasn't the right person to lead that change.
Yoda joining the rebellion would have put a bigger target on them, with Vader and Palpatine able to sense them and their location.
Yoda needed to train (the next) without distractions and step down. The realization the will of the force was against even his views set in solidly to a humbling! Yoda had the power of the force but not the will of the force he was unbalanced and unfit.
Because Yoda was a terrible neglectful leader that couldn’t sniff out palpatine
To be fair, Sidious’ ability to mask his presence in the force was so potent that when Darth Plagueis first found him it was months before the Sith lord was able to detect his incredibly powerful force connection. And a connection that immense and that well hidden with zero training, the opportunity was to good to pass up.
Doesnt excuse how he handles the jedi's teachings of being too detached and the sith problem.@tommoore2012
Ditto. He was too senile.
Bro victimized himself😂😂😂
Considering the sequels showed nothing did change then he should’ve gotten involved.
He didn't think it was possible,so he didn't try.
Yoda presence on any rebel planet or ship would only be a signal flare to the Sith.
I think he should of helped more then sit in a swamp and wait. I do think him running to the front line to fight vadar would of been dum. But, His leadership in the shadows helping the Repels would of been good I think so help know things ahead and maybe save lots of lives.
He blamed himself and he needed to train Luke. Done.
Was sidious yodas last duel before he died?
Also every Jedi that got involved with the Rebellion ended up dying or fleeing except for Luke. The Empire was on some level fine with letting the war continue as it gave the common citizens something to fear and a reason for The Empire to protect them.
But once Jedi get involved the Empire puts the hammer down.
It’s interesting how Yoda feeling so much guilt until Luke mirrors how Luke felt that way Until Rey
“ Pass on what you have learned.”
What if the jedi initiated the rule of 2 would there power grow or diminish
I would think Yoda's presence in the force would have been to strong and he would have posed a danger to whatever Alliance base he was at just by being there
07:20 I disagree, Yoda did not start in cowardice but of shame.
Little did Yoda know it wasn't Luke that would rebuild the Jedi order, but a super human, strong woman?
Yoda getting in would have also been a significant increase in arms. Meaning all the regular humans would have been outmatched by force sensitive hunters. Instead of just an army of regular guys.
Yoda could have even been somewhat involved behind the scenes.
Obi wan shows how scared they were and pretty much cowards in hiding
Even if Yoda was too old to fight physically he could've helped the rebellion with his wisdom. He could've been a counselor or an army strategist or something. As old and wise as he is, his wisdom would be very valuable.
I think this is a spot on analysis. While I think there would have been some merit in Yoda and Obi-Wan helping to train force-sensitive rebels (Ezra Bridger, Kanan Jarrus, apparently Sabine Wren etc...) I don't think Yoda was in any place physically or mentally to lead an army. And while I don't have much to go on for this, I get the feeling that he probably wasn't that great of a general in the Clone Wars either. I feel as though Yoda's raw power saw him thrust into the leadership roles throughout his career that he neither wanted nor was particularly suited for. Yoda was an excellent teacher, and certainly should have been a voice on the council, he was not suited to lead it.
