    Honest question, is there a noticeable flavor difference between this and their pellet smoker?

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  Před rokem +5

      Different flavor. As far as their pellet grill goes IMO it produces the closest smoke profile to my offset but nothing matches an offset. A split of wood has a lot more moisture in it than a kiln dried pellet made from furniture scrap wood. The real difference do you have the time to manage a fire for the whole cook. Example I cooked for a wedding of a really good friend today. I started at 8pm so everything would be ready by 11am today. I didn't get everything cooked until 5:30am this morning without any sleep. Then take a 1 1/2 hour power nap and start getting ready to prep all the meat to get in the Cambro so it is ready to deliver to the party. You might say nah I will never do that, yes, yes you will once your family and friends start enjoying your bbq. Now I only did this for my friend because I wanted to use the offset and remind me of the days when all I had was an offset. For every other cook like this I put it in the LSG pellet and watch the temps from my phone while I edit a video or reply to comments. You can't leave an offset for more than 45 minutes and it is about time to add another split. Good luck with your decision but if you enjoy freedom the LSG pellet grill with handle the task for you and the normal person will really not be able to tell the difference.

      @DeadBrokeBBQ fantastic reply. That's also why I have been looking into LSG insulated Cabinets...they look and sound amazing

      Heck ya Joe! That is a very nice pit too and you can set it and forget it! Offsets are awesome but they require attention.

      @@DeadBrokeBBQ Wow man, blown away by your reply. Thank you so much!! I’m very intrigued by and love the hobby/attention to detail aspect of it but my little kiddos are require almost all my attention so I’m definitely going with the pellet for now. Your example really drove that decision home for me though, thank you sir! 🤝🏻

      Well you had good timing because I literally just busted my rear on an overnight cook and regret not just doing on the pellet!!! ha ha I have just got back into cooking on an offset because my boy are 15 and 16 now. When they were young it was really not an option. I don't mind cooking on it is I get up at 5am so I can have it ready for for a nice Saturday dinner but if I am going to smoke something during the week it is on a pellet grill because I still have a day job too!! ha ha But I am very happy I could help you out. IMO get the pellet and learn how to cook everything on it. Then eventually get an offset so you can sit back and watch your temp gauge and manage a fire. I will say------the wait is killer but once that pellet grill arrives you feel like a teenager again!!! So much fun getting a huge crate delivered and it has your name on it!!!

    I’m very interested in purchasing from Lone Star. How long on average does it take you to get your temperature up and ready for the ribs?

      Whenever I fire up my offset, I plan for 45 minutes to build a good coal bed. Thanks for watching!

      I saw this on a short. Made my mouth water. I’ve watched some of your full videos. Nice channel. But I’ll keep smoking on my Z Grill til it falls apart. Cost me like $300, does the job. Not great with consistency though. Wouldn’t trust a brisket overnight if you know what I mean. Of course you do. Lol.

      Thank you!! Nothing wrong with a Z Grills!! I got 2 of them and they do decent job and for the price you can't go wrong!! I do not trust a lot of entry level pellet grills overnight and even a couple of the higher end units either!! But a $300 Z Grills is better than a coffee can and a lump of charcoal!! I appreciate you watching!!!
