  • Lone Star Grillz pellet grill first cook was a huge success and a lot of fun! This Brisket turned out fantastic and was packed with smoky flavor! Hands down the Lone Star Grillz pellet grill produced the most smoke flavor I have gotten off any off my pellet grills and if you paid attention you probably figured it did because it never quits smoking like other pellet grills do. This pit is not an easy bake oven, it is an easy bake SMOKER. The Lone Star Grillz Pellet Grill runs like a champ and I certainly am impressed with this pit! I can't wait to hear from some of you that you also have one and how much you love this pit! This LSG is built like a tank and your grandkids will be cooking on it!! Thanks for watching!
    Make sure you check out my buddy Rus on his channel soon you will see the Lone Star Grillz Pellet Grill in action also. / smokyribs

    Hey Ricer,
    I really enjoyed your first cook. Especially the clean up view and fire up with the ceramic igniter.
    This is the first Pitt I have bought sight unseen so any extra views of the interior are great.
    That thing really smokes! My old Treager has those swings and it smokes like crazy. That was one of the issues I had with moving to a PID controller. Everyone I’ve seen really didn’t smoke all that much till this fire breather came out.
    Keep the great videos coming for us desperately waiting for our grill folks.
    Much appreciated Brother!!!!

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  Před 2 lety +3

      Glad you enjoyed the video Jerry! Ya I always add things as I go on the journey for every pit. So there will be more that I add in every video!! I had ran oder Traegers that my friends have owned and they still don't smoke like this pit. The video doesn't give it justice because of my lighting in my studio. This seriously runs like my old offset and I have all the doors open with 2 big fans blasting away and I can't get the smoke out. I can't stay in there very long and you can tell by my eyes when I have been in there for a while. This is the first pit that has smoked me out and I am now looking at putting in a ventilation system because in the cold winter I need to keep the doors closed more. This brisket had the most wood flavor and I had taste testers try it out later when everyone got up and had a chance to come over. Everyone said they never tasted brisket like this off theirs or my other pellet grills. That is a good sign. I think it is turkey next, has to be done and now is the time! hahaha Thanks for watching brother!!

    Jeff, good video showing your awesome brisket. I haven't done a brisket on mine yet but I will in the near future. My pulled pork turned out amazing and we were really happy with the smoke profile from my LSG 20x36 pellet. Did some salmon at lower temps and that was fantastic too! I think Chris has nailed it.

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  Před 2 lety +1

      Michael I agree completely!! It doesn't surprise me that it runs so good because Chris has had a lot of time perfecting this pit! I am so happy to hear you love yours as well!! I think this is the best pellet grill made at the moment and that says a lot because I like a lot of pellet grills but that smoky flavor the LSG produces is a lot more than my other pits! Thanks for leaving a comment brother and can't wait to hear about how your brisket turns out!!

  • @BabyBackManiac
    @BabyBackManiac Před 2 lety +9

    I've never had a pellet grill that doesn't swing on temps, but I've had a few where the controller lie about it. It's VERY eye opening when you start doing independent testing. All that to say, this is fine...and that brisket looks AMAZING!

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  Před 2 lety +1

      I completely agree Justin and the chamber held steady with in 10 degrees for the entire cook! The big number on the controller is up and down but never really affected the pit and I think that is why this pit produces so much smoke. I was just happy that for the first voyage Godzilla crushed that cook and left that hunk of brisket looking like downtown Tokyo after a brawl with Mothra! Ok well not burnt up though, just a nice crispy bark on the outside. ha ha Thanks for watching brother!!

    Great video Ricer - the cook looked amazing and the Lonestar looks incredible. I have been looking at it on their webpage however, not real impressed by the warranty on the components for the price point that the smoker is at. • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  Před 2 lety +1

      Ya agree not the longest. I was told that the ceramic ignition if it is going to fail it will right away or last a 100,000 times. The auger is a hollow center and I can't see anything failing very quick on that little 12" corkscrew metal. My guess is that the warranty as time goes on will increase as more of these get out in action and they get a better track record on them. I will say this pit is a lifetime cooker as long as you don't let it sit and rust up!! Thanks for watching!!

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  Před 2 lety +3

      ZERO worries about over smoking ANYTHING on this pit but I certainly can't match the smoke flavor on any other pellet grill I have cooked on including my buddies YS640. Yes it never stops smoking but it is not dirty white start up smoke. The air flow is twice as fast as my old offset was and that keeps the smoke moving. Most people are used to a pellet grill puffing a little smoke every 5-10 minutes once they are warmed up, this pit never stops even at high pit temps! Thanks for watching!

      I’m in Canada and recently received my LSG 36. When I ordered it, I compared prices to the yoder and it was actually less here including shipping to the border which is about 3 hours from me. My price was higher after I went option crazy. The stainless grills put it over the top, but having used them for a few weeks, it was money well spent. So easy to clean.
      I’ve never used an offset, I’m coming from a Traeger. The smoke is better, no question, but I think it has much more and better airflow. An air fryer is basically an oven with a fan and it’s the airflow that helps seal the food and produce great results. The LSG does that well, maybe like an offset?
      I love my new pit and I’m finding it very flexible and powerful but there is a learning curve if you’ve not much experience. The Traeger is less hands on I think. Turning your meat doesn’t do much compared to the LSG. I managed to improve my Christmas turkey be toasting to get the breast and legs to finish together better just like you did with the brisket.
      I’m glad you mentioned cleanup, because it is amazing. So much easier than my traeger.
      The FireBoard is awesome. I do use the wifi, and the predictive cook feature can be helpful especially as I’m learning the pit. Chris instructions made this powerful tool easier to use than an apple mac.
      Thank you for this video, I’ve watched it a few times and believe it’s the very best video on this pit. I just realized you have a Patreon and I’m going to join to learn more and so I can get some advice!

      @@DeadBrokeBBQ Right, ok, When you put the brisket in the foil pan and the beef consommé, this is replacing putting the brisket in the butcher paper right?

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  Před 2 lety +1

      Yep! The foil creates more steam and braises the brisket. which in turn speeds up the cooking time. You can use aluminum foil. I use pans because they will not tear like foil can. Butcher paper breathes more so it adds time to the cook but you get a stiffer bark and that is good also! So many ways to skin a cat Bobby!!! hahaha

    If they can do that it's a shame they can't provide a 'stand-alone' controller for a Traeger or other grill to do the smokey swings....

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  Před 2 lety +1

      Well FireBoard would have to engineer the controller for every pit. So selling a couple here and there wouldn’t probably be a great profit center. Time to trade that Traeger off and get a LSG. 😉 The fire pot design also has a lot to do with the constant smoke. Thanks for watching!

      @DeadBrokeBBQ  Před 2 lety +1

      It isn't an oven bub. This pit is designed this way with the temp swings to produce more smoke than any other pellet grill made to date. Guess what it does. This is the first pit to ever come close to my old offset. Hands down it will crush any pellet grill made to date. I know that most people that buy a pellet grill it is their very first time ever cooking BBQ and they are used to a microwave or the toaster oven. Hang in there groomer someday you will understand.

    • @mach51
      @mach51 Před 2 lety +1

      @@DeadBrokeBBQ hilarious that you want to call names and be a ____. You are the one that said the temps were consistent. I just pointed out that +/- 20 degrees really does not fit the definition of consistent. My Big Green Egg and Flameboss are what I would call consistent. Im just looking for the best pellet grill money can buy so anyone can use it.

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  Před 2 lety +1

      Well don't sound like a libtard in your comments and you won't be called names. This is the best pellet grill money can buy. I have had all kinds of them and 20° ain't nothing. Offsets swing 50° and that is the pit I learned how to cook BBQ on. The LSG swings like this on purpose but the chamber temp doesn't change much at all. ANYONE can cook on a pellet grill. Big Green Eggs or Kamados do hold temps but the BBQ off it is not even close to being called good. If it was BBQ joints would be using them, and builders would make them the size of a water tower but they don't because they are just woodfired ovens. Great pit for steaks and cooking bread though!! Mark Zuckerberg cooks on an egg.

  • @duanehenicke6602
    @duanehenicke6602 Před 2 lety +1

    I'm not buying it. You can buy any of the pit boss pellet grills that don't have a PID controller and they swing wildly in temps. Smoke like crazy at low temps and smoke a lot when the pellets drop. Even the PID pits smoke a bunch on smoke setting. So what makes this one have more smoke flavor over the prior mentioned? This much i know. The brand of pellet you buy makes a huge difference on smoke flavor.

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  Před 2 lety +1

      I have never and I will repeat never been smoked out of my studio by any of my other pellet grills, never. Until now with the LSG I have to keep my garage door ALL the way open and I am a Lumber Jack pellet ambassador so I use the same pellets on all my pits. Hand downs this pit will out smoke any pellet grill you or I have owned. There is NO temp swings in the chamber Duane, it is just how the controller is programmed along with how the firepot is designed below the chamber and this pit never stops smoking. So WILD temps swings you are correct about a lot of the chinese brands but not on this pit. This is the best "pellet grill" brisket I have ever done to date but unlike you I am really new to the pellet grill scene, been only around 2 years I have been cooking on them. The 25 years prior was on my stick burner or a weber kettle. I do like all the chinese pop cans that I have owned but they fall way back when compared to this pit. By far the closest smoke flavor profile I have ever had compared to my old offset and my grandkids will be running this pit, I wonder how many chinese pellet grills will be in the junkyard by then? Thanks for watching!!

      @@DeadBrokeBBQ Hmm. I will have to find someone with deeper pockets than i, so i can taste for myself. But i have to admit, I'm not a fan of farting smoke rings. So if this pit is comparable to a offset, i'm out. Can't remember. Is that controller made in the states? With all the components coming from here? Will they be easily accessible if, sorry when they go down? As for my tin cans, I'm not happy they are made in China. But so far only thing I've had to replace is burn pots. Easy to get. Paint is just as good as when new. I've had good luck with B&B pellets. Have some others that aren't bad either, but the B&B are my favorite at the moment. Guess time will tell if the LSG pellet smoker is the real deal. Texas forever.

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  Před 2 lety +1

      The controller is also made here in America by FireBoard. They are known as one of the best in the industry. Lone Star Grillz will always have controllers and parts on hand but this ceramic igniter has a lifespan of 100,000 starts so I will never see a 100k cooks. Yes this is a buy once cry once pit but worth every penny and a lot of people start with a chinese pit and then save up to get a Lone Star Grillz or a Yoder pit. I can't get B&B very easy here but I have heard they are good too. Again thanks for watching!
