The Best Snack Stick Ever Made?
zhlédnutí 10KPřed 5 měsíci
These are the best snack sticks I have ever made and it is all because of that 80/20 Wagyu hamburger! I make a lot of venison/pork snack sticks every year. On 90% of them I use the original snack stick flavor from PS Seasoning but with this American Wagyu, the flavor is seriously untouchable!! Always fun to try new things and this was one of my favorite cooks this year. The boys eat a lot of sn...

I have a Oklahoma Joe Rider 900. It sounds like i should be cleaning after each use and then deep cleaning the smoker after 3 cooks. Whats the difference between deep clean and what you show in the video?
BTW thanks for the video on the burnoff. I did the burnoff to clear it of junk but didnt spray it down with oil to season it like a cast iron pan. I'll be doing that tomorrow.
I have a Rider DLX 900. It has pretty much everything the 1200 has just smaller. Ive been watching some videos and people are smoking at 185 degrees. The controls on the DLX only go down to 200 i think and then they have LOW. How do i get down to 185 for a slow overnight cook? Is there a video on the DLX control panel? I could really use the instruction. Thanks in advance.
You are currently getting promoted by YT ad free (#1 on search result) so congrats 🎉👏👏👏
Wow! Thank you for watching!!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ Costco had them on sale recently fyi
Great video thx easy to understand good for us rookies lol thx
I got a Pro 780 last week. Is it supposed to smoke a lot right after igniting it? I started following the instruction manual for seasoning but then found this video and shut it down 5 minutes after igniting because it started smoking a ton. Before I restart, want to make sure that’s normal 😬
Got my dad who’s turning 60 in a few days this model. Really tried to get him the Treager XL but sadly couldn’t afford it for payment plan. He’s an executive chef and had a really bad year last year with his health and job. But things are much better now so I got him this grill because some salesman at Costco sold him on the brand few years back and was all he would fantasize about getting even though with all my thorough research I know you mentioned the camp chef woodwind pro being a bit better. I couldn’t convince him. So got him this model since it’s the cheapest I could somewhat afford just gunna take a long time to pay off. But did all your steps for seasoning and baking and even though I’m a neighbor (Minnesotan) we had horrible rain all day today I managed to luck out and get a dry spell to do the seasoning times and temp increases and all worked out great! Tomorrow being Father’s Day he’ll be doing his first smoke and cook with it which he’s excited. He will be doing a rack of ribs and dry rubbed chicken wings. Great videos! Me and my dad watched a few of them while we waited on the cook times for seasoning. And really enjoyed them. I’m not sure if you’ve done a video on this. But I know other CZcamsrs have. But what brand of wood pellets do you tend to prefer? He is new to the pellet grilling scene so trying to be a helpful sous chef or whatever the term is for BBQing lol. Either way he’s excited for his first cook. And loves that he will be able to let it cook and monitor it from his phone since movement is what’s tough for him.
Did his first cook with ribs and chicken wings today. And 100% love it. The ribs he made turned out amazing! Same with his chicken wings. But the ribs which im normally not a fan of ribs (braces ruined my desire for them) but damn these were good. We even found some sauce at walmart which never thought id recommend something from there but a sauce brand called “Blues Hog” their “Raspberry Chipotle” was amazing to dab with the meat. But meat alone was great as well!
Just put the legs on haha gonna follow your instructions. Thanks for making this!
Hi, what are you spritzing them with?
I typically use just plain water. But if I am struggling to get a nice bark I will use a little apple juice to help darken it up. Thanks for watching.
Thank you. Is there a process to season a griddle? Thank you
Yes but griddles are different. Just need to bake on some cooking oil.
Good morning !!! Setting up my traeger 780 pro right now. Is it ok to do a 14 hr slow and low pork shoulder tonight after following your burn off stage ??
Yes, absolutely. Just let the pit go through the shut down cycle and then get cooking! Have fun!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ Thank you !!!!
Unfortunately, it's discontinued. I thought I had a chance on Amazon, but when it arrived, they sent me the one without the 5-gallon jug input. So I returned it.
ugh!! But my guess they will come out with it again. Might be a different model but it is a fantastic unit!!
The most difficult question- how do you get your boys to do the assembly without a lot of complaining? 😂 Seriously though. Always looking for solid advice for dads.
I have taught them at a young age, you need to work to survive. Everyone has a boss and for now, I am your boss. I started coaching them when they were young so they have me as a dad, boss, and a coach all in one. Makes it hard to argue with me on any matter!!! ha ha But honestly I explain that I have been around the piss pot more than they have, so listen to me or feel my wrath. They are both very hard working young men, either when it comes to work, school, or sports. I guess I owe it all to my dad for raising me with rules but also rewarding when I accomplished things! Not easy being a dad these days but I use the theory of "my way or no way". They are getting older and incredibly busy, but they are up at 6am and that is not really the norm for a 16 and a 17 year old boy but they have goals and responsibilities so if they want to achieve them, they better listen and move faster!!! hahaha Consistency is key!!! Thanks for watching!!!
Awesome, thanks for responding. I try to take a similar approach and for the most part it's working out well. We dads have to prepare our boys to enter the real world with a sense of respect and humility. Happy Father's Day!
I'm late to the party here, but the drip pan has so much grease on it - do I wipe some of it off with a dry paper towel? I've read mixed things up online - some say it's not necessary, some do?
After every 3 or 4 cooks, I take it out and scrape it down. If there is a bunch of grease on it after a cook, best to clean it off some so you do not have a grease fire. Thanks for watching!
No ketchup
Extra ketchup for me!!! hahahah Thanks for watching!
Where are you in Wisconsin? I’m in Brookfield.
I am in the Iola area. Thanks for watching!!!
Wish I knew more when I bought mine! Thanks for sharing!
Enjoy that pit! Thanks for watching!
*Mortar and pestle enters the chat*
great method too!
Nice comparison! I have the Traeger 780, and I've been very pleased with it. Just made a pork butt today. Like anything, next year Pit Boss, and Traeger will come out with a model with one or three more bells and whistles, and you'll wish you'd waited to buy the latest and greatest. Doesn't matter if it's a pellet grill, Bow, rifle or pistol, car, you name it. The two things I was most disappointed with in my Traeger was, 1. No Super Smoke function. I solved that by buying smoke tubes. 2. The "limited" rack space. Jerkey is one of my main grill items, and 1 and a 1/3 rack kinda blows for jerky making - for making massive amounts at one time that is. Otherwise, I love the Traeger, and I do use the Traeger Wifire, love it! Remote control via my phone = Gnarly Hawgg! 🐖 ❤ 🥓
Heck ya, never fails, get one in the fall and in the spring something is new!! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!!
Is this griddle included with the pit boss ?
Yes for this model it is. Thanks for watching!
Bustin👀😂😂😂
hahahhaha thanks for watching!!!
Off topic but gotta know your thoughts…. Have you used the new PitBoss Titan? I’m torn between buying it or the Traeger Ironwood XL. Any thoughts on it? It’d really help my decision. Curious about the smoke flavor from one to the other.
I have not owned a Titan yet so I have to lean towards the Ironwood just because I know that pit runs like a champ! All the Pit Boss models I have had do a good job too but the controllers are not as good IMO. Thanks for watching and sometimes you just need to flip a coin!!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ thanks a lot. You’re the man.
Looked perfect to me.
Just barely passed but the flavor was INCREDIBLE!! Thanks for watching!
I'm buying in gluten free pizza crusts for those gluten free people but the doughs are coming out of the overn still very doughy. I've tried to par bake them but am not having much luck Any thoughts?
Sorry I never dealt with gluten free crust. That one you are going to have to research more. Good luck!!
To save time just get your local grocery store butcher to slice your round roast (top round, eye of round, bottom round whatever). No need to hand trim or have your own slicer or even a knife. Any BBQ sauce or marinade will work as a marinade.
RIP Pit Boss.
I haven't had one for a while and these are al a tad better thank my Elite. Thanks for watching!
There is an R in cabernet (cab burr nay), not cab ba nay
hahahah thanks for paying attention!!
You not smoking if you are not adding splits! Push the start button😂, just joking but when I think of a smoker I picture an offset. I'm just jealous I reckon.
I have an offset too. I have cans, kettles, gas grills, and pellet grills. Doesn't matter what you use as long as you enjoy it. Thanks for watching!
5:43 isnt this still dirty smoke thats coming out at this point? Do we need to close the lid and cook for awhile till the smoke becomes cleaner
nah that is just more charcoal starting. You could always just 5 briquettes at a time and drop them in every 10 minutes or so, then you would have very clear smoke. Every time I add a split to my offset you get a tad more smoke. As long as you get the 10-15 briquettes started and ash'd over you can let it rip, you will not over smoke it.
@@DeadBrokeBBQ yup i always use a chimney to start my charcoal, let them become white-grey before adding them in to cook meat. that charcoal starting, imho, really produces some dirty smoke.
Neither, they are both garbage compared to Smokin brothers. Save your money and get a good smoker.
Hahaha ok bub. Thanks for watching!
When you say run water and/or vinegar through it you clean it, where are putting that and how much? Are you pouring it in where the water bottle connects?
Yes I run a few cups of vinegar through the top so it cleans up good. The spot that I see that can get clogged up is by the float inlet. I saw that Lowe's sells ice maker cleaner so one of these times I might try that. Just make sure you rinse it down good before you start making ice again! Thanks for watching!
Just followed your burn off instructions tonight with my brand new Traeger Pro 780 - easy to follow, and no unpleasant surprises! Thanks so much!!
You are welcome!! Have fun with the new pit!!
Do a review with the RIPT woodchip grill smoker it uses all wood chips so it mocks a offset smoker but in the design of a pellet smoker
I hope to get one of those someday but it won't be built as good as the LSG. You can run wood chips in the LSG pellet grill too. But honestly, nothing mocks an offset.
Why can’t I find this one with the place for the bottle of water ?
I just bought one of these from Home Depot, however the brand is now Tittla, model KM40FT. It is this exact ice maker, now under a different brand.
I am sure they will come out with this model again. Must be out of stock right now! Good luck on your search!!
But for some reason, pit boss1600 has worse customer reviews. This video is made to glorify pit boss1600 due to bad reviews.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA typical Biden Fan comment
@DeadBrokeBBQ It's a fact. Just google both grills, and you will see for yourself.
I’m late to the party 😂but I’m making them at this very moment

Awesome!! You got this!!

Dude used a hundred dollars worth of aluminum foil to start...
Ya where I live money grows on trees! Thanks for watching!
After 3 years of owning a pitboss, I finally pulled the trigger on making a long cook. I followed your steps and oh man…. That sweet muster rub is delicious! My pulled pork turned out amazing! Few notes, I wasn’t sure on temperatures of the pulled pork, I just know you mentioned something about 205° F. At the rate of 300°F on the pitboss, for a smaller piece (3.47lbs) it got to 200°F in 4 hours, so I turned the heat down little by little. I got down to 210° and ultimately ended up at 240° and the heat got to 208° at the 6 hour mark. So I had to dial it a bit but other than that, everything was perfect. Thank you so much for making this seem easy and fun. Some other people just make it seem like it’s too hard and it will be a 100hr cook and I was getting discouraged. I’m hooked now and will be following your brisket video as well 😊
Awesome job!! Ya there are some many things that have to match up to make your cook exactly like mine but I cook to probe tenderness and that is all that matters!! Thanks for watching and you will crush that brisket cook!!
Just bought mine and the sticker on the inside was there, and the same obstacle
YA, I hate stickers!!! Thanks for watching!
Just bought this traeger Flat rock- it was this or Webber slate but after watching all the reviews I chose Traeger and it was $100 off on a sale

Mine ran great!! Sometimes you get one that has issues! Thanks for watching!!
@DeadBrokeBBQ mine also ran good but the mistake I did was that I converted to natural gas and lost the orifices now no way to convert to propane back. @prokangrills6238
why do you put it on a smaller grate instead of directly on the smoker grate?
Simple, easier to move around. Thanks for watching!
