    Great upgrades to your trailor, I decided to put those PVC post rails on my trailor too. It makes backing up much easier in the evening or early in the morning. Looks awesome!

      Thanks Skooter
      The poles do make it easier. The Smith brand version has lights at the top which make it nice for low light situations.
      I’ve got a few do dads that I’ve bought recently for the boat and have to get them on before the spring fishing season starts.

    I thought I’d share with all the Twin Troller X10 owners some of the modifications that I did to my trailer. After a couple years of use the original bulb type lights that came with my trailer package were beginning to fail. So I upgraded all my trailer lights to sealed LED lights and re-did my connections with better water resistant protection from the elements. You’ll also see a few other things I did to improve the performance of my trailer...

      Cool idea with the beads Dan. I had given up on balancing the smaller wheels and went to 12" machined aluminum wheels with highway rated tires. Yep, the beads would have been a better and cheaper idea. I guess that's why we call our boat, The Plastic Money $$.

      Jim Correia Hey Jim, The beads are cheaper, but, I bet your tires look great.

      Like you I travel out on a highway/ turnpike and it’s speed limit is 75 mph. Most trailer tires are rated for 65 mph and work fine for that but I really needed some wheels and tires that didn’t shake my car to pieces at higher speeds. etrailer.com has an 81 mph speed rated 12” radial and combined with a trued and balanced aluminum wheels solves my issue but it’s a bit pricey and you are correct, as a bonus the wheels look pretty awesome!

    Some good ideas and I have the guides as well which make life much easier. The larger tires would not be practical for my fishing in shallow water areas I often use.

    Hi Dan, I moded my trl. also I put a flat bottom deck on it, works a lot better for my area. The trl. is 16 months old and covered in rust but I fish in the salt marsh with it all the time, so much for the galvanizing. I love my little TT though.

    • @danharvey61
      @danharvey61  Před 4 lety

      Hey Rick, Glad to hear that you're getting your TT dialed in. I'm working on getting more do dads added to the twin troller. I'm hoping to get my rig out later in December and January to do some sauger fishing. Not many souther boys want to join this Michigander for some cold weather fishing. Truth is I miss not being able to ice fish in the winter months. It was one of my favorite ways of fishing growing up.

    • @danharvey61
      @danharvey61  Před 4 lety +1

      I've never fished a salt marsh... sounds like fun. It's on my list to head South to fish for reds. My neighbor does that every year and his pictures are awesome of what they catch.

    Hey Dan, thanks so much for your video. It was really well done and extremely informative. I am in the process of putting together enough money to be able to pay cash for a twin troller. So I’m not yet a twin troller owner. However, I have been extremely curious about whether or not this boat can move out in the water. It seems that you were saying that I’m only going to get about 3 mph out of the twin troller trolling motors. That sure doesn’t sound like much compared with kayaks that are sporting a bow mount trolling motor. I was then going to get the gas motor as well and was shocked when you said it was only going to give 1 mph more speed than what the trolling motors gave. That is astounding. I’m a little depressed at this news. My first question for you is are you satisfied with the amount of speed you get from the trolling motors? My second question is, how do you feel about the Honda 2.3 outboard? I understand that they are made in China which really turned me off. I was thinking maybe I would go with a mercury or a Yamaha so that I could get something that was made in Japan. How do you feel about this? Thanks so much for your input! Ed

    • @danharvey61
      @danharvey61  Před 3 lety

      It would be nice to have bigger trolling motors for propulsion to get us up over 2.5 - 3 mph, however, it beats oaring and paddling. The Honda 2.3 gets me closer to 4 - 5 mph if I need to go to the other end of a small lake faster. I put an extension handle on my motor to be able to reach it better from the rear seat. I found if I’m not using the motor for several days, it’s best to turn off the gas with the side lever to let it shut down. It drains the gas out of the carburetor so it won’t gunk up on you from sitting. A small amount of “Sea Foam” additive I’ll run through the motor once a year to help keep the carb clean. As a small motor it has it’s limitations as you might expect. I feel that the extra speed is a nice feature as well as being able to get up slow moving rivers if I hug the bank and get out of the current. I carry a red 1 liter spare gas can like hikers use as a back up if I run out of gas. You can run a full tank for about an hour before you’ll run out.

    Great work Dan. I have been thinking about putting some type of rear post on my trailer as well. (Can I order the model you have?) My trailer is a 2019 model and came with LED lights even though they forgot to upgrade the manual telling me the wires were different when I assembled it last May. I figured it out after I realized the wires were different. I was hoping I wasn't the only one who's front bracket got bent out of shape and now that I've seen yours I have a cousin that welds aluminum and as soon as I can get my boat and trailer out of my barn it's going to him for a new mount. I heard you said you drove it to Michigan and just hope you enjoyed your trip as I live in Michigan about 12 miles from the Mackinaw bridge. I have so many small lakes up here so close I don'rt have to worry about those long drives and a bouncing boat. So hope you made it through the tornadoes okay and also this stupid Virus. Plan on spending many long hours sitting in my TT this spring, summer and, fall. Steve from Michigan.

      I get up to Michigan 3 or 4 times a year. I was hoping to do some ice fishing this winter... every time I happen to be up there, there’s no ice. I’ll have to make a special trip when there’s good ice.

      @kagnewmp12 Před 3 lety

      @@danharvey61 Well Dan I had a little problem with my ole heart that showed up about 5 months ago and it shut me down for most of my summer. I think I put my TT in the water 4 or 5 times total. My Cardiologist thought he could fix the problem with medication and I took two different ones through out the summer but it didn't change and I could only walk around for maybe 5 minutes before I had to sit down again. I had the worse vegetable garden ever not to mention the lack of fishing. The ole Doc finally decided it was time to put a Stent in and as the kids say OMG I was a new man. I have my garage half rebuilt and tons of other things as well. My wife has to threaten me with a Foot in the Ass if I don't slow down. I hoping to do more in the boat next year and if you care to email me at srburrows53@yahoo.com I would be glad to let you know the ice conditions up here when you want to travel. I'm personally waiting for that Covid Vaccine myself. Stay safe and healthy Michigan Steve
