I remember watching the Arabic dub for this show. It was modrately well-received, since Mortal Kombat is an exceptionally popular franchise in the Middle East. Also, the Arabic voice actors were VERY GOOD in the dub, one of a few times in history in which a cartoon series had a better dubbed version than the original.
However, it was heavily edited. They added music from other franchises (and made their own) and they changed much of the dialogue, like making sub-zero more of an anti-hero who redeems himself later on. The guys who worked on translating the series into Arabic were clearly very passionate about the project. Unfortunately, they did not realize that the second season was never going to happen, so all that effort got wasted :P

Furthermore, the Ancient Babylonians were not Arabs. My Arab ancestors simply inherited the land after the Babylonians and Assyrians were driven out through previous conquests (including Islamic expansion).
However, if by "race" you mean Semitic, then yes Semitic peoples (including Babylonians, Jews and Arabs etc...) have made exceptional contributions throughout history.
Anyways no one was denying our heritage. I am just frustrated with my people taking themselves way too seriously sometimes and often easily getting manipulated because of this.

Maybe they should have gone to Animes, instead of those regular old cartoons. The Anime department seems to be doing good with action lately. Example, Attack on Titan. It shouldn't been aimed at kids. It should have been aimed at teens or young adults, at least. That could have made the Kartoons somewhat better. You'd still have to deal with crappy animations, and maybe mediocre music.

This show feels like an absolute waste of Clancy Brown (don't think I didin't hear you in there, Raiden) and Ron Perlman.
The thing is, a serialized Mortal Kombat series COULD work. Mortal Kombat Legacy had great atmosphere and focused heavily on backstory and lore, but was pretty light on the actual violence, and it still worked really well...well, a least as well as the original movie.
I think to really sell a Mortal Kombat series, it would have to be animesque. The Netflix Castlevania (which is NOT an anime, to my continuing surprise) has proven that American audiences can handle bloody, over-the-top violence in cartoons, and I'm hoping this means American adult animation will progress past Simpsons clones that overstay their welcome.
One thing I DO hope any future shows keep, however, is a focus on character and story. We've got the games for gameplay. Give us some good actors/voice actors, particularly for roles that demand pathos, like Kitana and Mileena, or Johnny Cage, or Sonya, but ESPECIALLY give us a Liu Kang who can convey his personality. Dude's basically supposed to be a devout warrior monk, like Tripitaka from Journey to the West except he actually kicks ass, and we've SEEN warrior monks with loads of personality. Even making him a Samurai Jack ripoff would be *something* .

It might just be the way Jared framed it, but Kitana just saying "Stay focused" made me laugh out loud.
It was the only vhs movie I had and watched none stop. I would pause the movie so many times so I can practice drawing kung lao scorpion and sub zero.
