I legit thought this episode was just going to be 30 minutes of them hiding in a fake vat of acid
me too haha
Tbh, I would watch this version instead of real one
I was laughing when I realized that was the episode but it got so much better and I didn't have a clue how this story was connected, the episode was great but unfocused, Act 3 was stunning, Brought everything together in an incredibly dark but hilarious way. Best episode of the season.
Why would that have been gold
I thought they were gonna be stuck in acid while those aliens tell random stories and they gotta sit through it 😄
“They said kinda go nuts.”
That’s probably the advice for most episodes
wanna be friends?
@@burgerking7290 sure
so they say that the reason of the first 7 episodes being fucking dogshit are artificial restrictions from the production studio?
@Seth Aranovitch where do I sign up?
"and I was like "woohoo depressing shit here we go!""
you guys have to talk about how morty got a long term girlfriend without using the remote once
well he used it once to open the door for her after coming out of the porn store
It left me with a feeling of emptiness when jerry pressed that remote his life was finally going so well than that happened
@@justsomeguywithinfinity2077 that was the first time he saw her he didn't use it since
Salty hawks Fan that was hilarious
JSPR shots but he when he warps out in front of the porn store he used it and then he goes to open the door for her
This may well be the strongest episode of the season. It brings back a lot of the cynical feel of earlier seasons, while driving the continuing build of the characters and their relationships.
And kudos to the director. The plane crash rewrite was probably the strongest bit in the whole thing. That was just golden.
This episode felt like an extension of Rickdie Rickpeat, except instead of dealing with the Phoenix Operation of Rick jumping into many cloned bodies of his, they were debunking time travel.
@@Geoform187 They didn't debunk anything. Rick just wasn't interested in something Antman and the Wasp could do.
yes. this is the one of the best episode in this season 4.
Marty McFly The cast goes on recurred that they don’t want to do direct time travel from Rick. The closest thing we will ever get is the snakes episode and even in that one Rick says that’s the closest thing we will get.
feels like the rick and morty that i fell in love with
That whole sequence with Morty falling in love with that girl and the steps he took to stay with her was like a brilliant little mini film. He endured a plane crash and cannibalism for her. Of course, Jerry messed it up by pushing the button thinking it was a remote. So Jerry.
classic Cyril
WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE SONG THAT PLAYED DURING THAT SEQUENCE?!?
@@dukenukem1877 It's in the Way that You Use it by Eric Clapton
Accidentally got invested into the character. Stupid me.
@@dukenukem1877 isn't it a variant of the same theme they used for the delightful life story of Mr.Poopy butthole?
I'm still laughing at the long relationship sequence.
Yo dude I'm such a pussy no joke that scene broke my heart😂 I'm a big softy I knew something bad was going to happen with it but then also thought that he would restart the relationship when it got bad or when he crashed in the plane, but hands down already gota be one of my favourites to date definitely the best of this season and just finished watching it there. Now I'm going to watch it again!
I can’t believe that wasn’t in the script, that literally made the entire episode
I had to pause because I was laughing so hard when Jerry grabbed the wrong remote lol
still broken up about it
I just moved to one of those new neighbors where you can pretty much hear your nextdoor neighbors fucking her wife hard and yelling at the kiddos, and after this episode the other neighbors probably think I'm a fucking psycho because of how fucking hard laughed at that scene lmao
Favorite part was when Jerry undid everything by thinking the device was a tv remote. I feel like the second half of a season is always better than the first
As funny as that was the final reveal of the blood vat of acid just killed me. The episode was the set up to this hilarious joke. P.S Fuck with Rick.
A new level of hate for Jerry.
Tell that to the 8th season of GoT
Yet another reason why Jerry should be booted off the show for good.
Such a terrible feeling... I was so glad for Morty to achieved so much. I think the series could grant him one thing for once.
In the beginning, I legit thought they were going to do an entire episode inside the vat of acid. Knowing Dan Harmon, totally something he would do
same
I thought it would be something similar to the fly episode from breaking bad
same
@@deyantodorov6775 I had the same thought.^^
that's the joke
The alien gangster was right what kind of a grandfather do this to his own grandson I mean come on
The kind of grandfather that has a million grandson's on a million timelines so could careless about any of them.
The kind of grandfather who would fake he and his grandsons's death to avoid getting their throats slit.
Marty McFly and then murder his grandson and then himself in cold blood just to prove a petty point.
@@luvmenow33 But he did show that he actually does care, several times. But tbh, I think he cares more about being right (though he was wrong, the vat of acid was a fucking stupid idea)
I mean Rick is right everytime Morty has an idea it kinda blew up in his face (sometimes due to Rick) but Morty’s gotten himself molested, he freed an alien that wanted to commit mass genocide, got Rick killed, destroyed/ruined Earth on multiple occasions, and the list goes on.
Lmfao a grandfather just made his grandson killed himself from multiple different dimensions because his grandson insulted his idea about using a vat of fake acid to fake their death.
10/10
That Rick for you....if anyone think he wrong or not smart, he will mess up you live in anyway possible...
But now Morty can talk to Jessica with confidence, so it's a win-win, lol.
well there are infinite possibilities. and if the 10th dimension is real then they all happen. that's m theory by the way.
@@jayritz5629 I think you're confusing M-Theory with the Many Worlds interpretation. M-Theory is about the different String Theories being a part of the same Membrane Theory, whereas the Many Worlds interpretation is about branching realities as an explanation for the results of certain particle experiments.
What does rick say in the episode with evil morty? A cocky morty can lead to a lot of problems? Clearly a necessary reality check. I believe morty is smart but rick has to keep him in line
When Rick said
"The whole world would know if I wanted to hurt you"
Denggggg he wasn't lying
He also said he had his hands clean but he killed the first morty of the respawn control lol
@@JarodJesus if you look closely, you can see rick actually didn't even kill him, since morty was still breathing after he got shot
"You've been Prestiged, Morty!"
Great episode. Love the steps Rick took to beep with Morty for mocking his vat of acid plan. Extra points for them using the plot of the based on a true story plane crash film Alive in a sequence. It might be my favorite episode of the season so far.
I beeping cried, Morty.
Every episode seems to be better than the last I don’t understand the hate towards it
@@maxz4819 because people want story.
@@brx9917 people want continuity, give them a shitty episode which is somehow related to the evil Morty ark & they will go crazy over it
B Rx99 the scarcity of story makes it much more special tho
That ending when Morty spotted the vat was genius. Probably one of my favourite episodes in regards to how fragile Rick's ego can be. He really went out there to prove Morty wrong.
Laughing out loud at the Starbucks “you were here” cup that says “winterfell.”
What cup?

Everything goes to shit when Rick gives Morty god powers
Or just gives Morty what he wants.
saljpal3 morty has 0 control give morty an inch he'll take a mile
Seems you didn't get the message - Morty's not the one responsible here, it's Rick. Like always. Rick is the idiot. Morty got himself a good life before it was destroyed by others.
@@Ambar42 no no Rick told Morty that his ideas was bad and even said that it wasn't worth making but Morty kept moking him and we know how Rick can get when he gets mocked so he got an idea to give Morty what he wanted and that's what he did. Rick even said to him if he wanted him to explain how it worked or if he wanted to have fun and Morty said he wanted to have fun and left without an explanation. So every experience he had was on Morty himself. It was a lesson from Rick that Morty's ideas are stupid
@@cristaljustice4534 No, it was all about proofing the point that he's a genius. He just wanted Morty to give credit for his acid vat idea to restore his own ego. Morty even proofs again that the vat idea is dumb in the end.
Jeff Loveness: "If Ant-Man and the Wasp can do it I'm not interested."
Also Jeff Loveness: *Writing Ant-Man 3*

"It came from us loving Batman."
I give the Rick and Morty crew props for taking that vat of acid idea and running wild with it.
Yeah it was super clever.
“...and I’ll be smiling again...just as soon as we take THAT MAN THERE! Slap him into THAT BOX THERE! And ROLL HIM into THAT VAT OF ACID THERE!!!”
I loved this so much, the ending had me bad
This was definitely the best episode of the season
scorpion master 62 I loved it but I actually gotta give it to never rocking morty. I hated how it gave fans the finger but I legitimately pissed my pants when Jesus showed up
Joker Clip huh that was probably my 2nd least favorite episode of Season 4 so far, besides Claw and Hoarder, but Promortyus and this episode are near 10/10s for me hopefully the last two are just as good or maybe even better
Buggin yeah I definitely see how you could come to that conclusion. I loved that episode but it comes with the fact that I am a weird person. Claw and hoarder was the first BAD Rick and morty episode. The of acid is in my top 3. Thank you for respectfully disagreeing with my opinion online
Joker Clip yeah man, at the end of the day it’s opinion, we all like something different
The ending was so dark.
You mean the post credits scene where they kept lowering him despite his screams of pain?
The scene where the cop thought he was immune to acid and t-bagged on his partner's corpse was hilarious... its so absurd.
Morty Smith I think that guy had other stuff going on
Futurama callbacks were pretty cool. Similar device to Fry's 10 second backwards time remote
Yeah, like the movie Click that they referenced in the Rattlestar Rickatlica episode (Snake Christmassssss)
@@bdbthemodesttree8654 Click is forward uncontrollable time travel but yeah rick always never actually wants to do time travel bc of the parodoxes and cliches that come with it.

@Jimmy Peeps They dont want to do a episode completly around time travel because Rick and Morty was based on a Back To The Future parody
This thing was a maze of right and left turns. It was harrowing, beautiful, thoughtful, ironic, heartfelt, sorrowful... pure brilliance.
It's just rick and morty dude
@@tennesseejermyn7705 still a pretty good episode
@@tennesseejermyn7705 true, but the show has some pretty feel good, gut wrenching moments every now and again. Like the end of Auto Erotic Assimilation.
That extended relationship sequence actually made me cry. to the point this is the only episode I don't re-watch habitually
I can't believe the director did it on a whim.
I was depressed for a week after this episode. It was an amazing episode but seeing morty lose what he truly deserved at the push of a button really cut deep into my soul.
That moment Jerry pressed the "remote" had me howling
I legit screamed "NOOOOO!'' when Jerry did that.
That was the day I truly wanted to throttle Jerry
She was so perfect to him that he didn't need to reset anything.
I remember my friends and I were watching it and after everything he and his girlfriend had been through... it all reset.
Everyone was like "Oh!" or "No!" in a horrible unison of disappointment that evolved into laughter.
The whole relationship sequence was an ad lib? That's incredible
Morty: Is this because of the Vat??
Rick: Nooo...
I've never heard a more condescending NO in my life! xD
Beth, Jerry Summer, none of them ever say a word in the whole episode.
In this episode, Eric Cartman was finally, convincingly, dethroned as the ultimate evil mastermind. Never screw with Rick.
What did he do? I missed it.
Stephen King the episode is up on adult swim’s website
@@Rumbple do you have to pay???

@@mkouf But keep in mind, this took place in another dimension. We don't know if C-137 Jessica likes Morty.
jerry pushing the button and the 80s music coming back while morty screams in horrified realization is one of the best moments on this show lol
Best part is how sad I was when morty lost his relationship with random blue shirt girl... you made me care for someone without knowing anything about their personality other then physical appearance... she could be a colossal racist, or plays minecraft in windowed mode.
It almost seemed like the Roy: A life well lived game
I dont even know which of these would be worse
WHAT'S YOUR ISSUE WITH WINDOWED MODE, HUH?
I was ready to like your comment because i wholeheartedly agree with it... But then came the last bit. Only psychopaths play Fullscreen. Borderless Windows and if thats not possible windowed all the way to my grave
I was with you until you lost me at Minecraft Windowed mode chief.
“We were surprised how quickly and easily we wrote the episode”
“The script was five minutes short for a 22 minute episode”
I'm sitting in my bed wondering :
If only Jerry had pressed the other button...
that would be boring
@@Nianiosoglou we could get some wholesomenes for Morty once in a while. The poor guy is been through so much
@ Personally, i prefer :
Morty as Low-confidence, Scared
Jerry as Stupid, ignorant
Beth as Drunk, self-hated
Summer as snob queen
Rick as marauder of worlds and destoyer of realities
And that's because I dont watch the show for the character development and story behind the scenes. I watch it for the reference,plot-twist and rough humor.
@@Nianiosoglou clearly that's the way the show is intended to be enjoyed... You're right.
But I can't help but root for Morty...
@ well everyone with his own taste i guess. I'm happily surprised that the discussion remained civil. Kudos to you sir, or whatever you relate as (taking precautions; dont want to get sued )
I feel like all of the episodes that have Rick putting Morty through more and more intense scenarios are leading to the end of the season where we will find Rick hit Morty’s eye and we’ll see him become Evil Morty... meaning we’ll see that this was all in the past...
I’d love that to happen but it probably won’t
NyanPulse I hope that they dont abandon Evil Morty completely
Nah this episode is definitely breeding Evil Morty. The separate dimension, the fact that it was concentrated to all one Morty that committed the killings, and the fact that he had to submit and embarrass himself to learn his lesson in front of Rick. This is officially the most fucked up thing I've ever seen Rick do. And fuck that whole plane sequence and Jerry fucking everything up. Thats the kind of shit that would break any man.
Also we were promised evil morty this second half and there was a thumbnail with him big and Rick and morty tiny so like yeah I think theast episode will be that. Because apparently the last two are supposed to be a two parter and the first one involves the whole family. And from the previews it looks dumb as hell and apparently we might get answers on the whole Beth being a clone theory
And then Morty straight murders someone... fuck dude... second time watching
I think this will rank in top 5 R&M episodes of all time. Goddamn brilliant & hilarious
Now, this was the best episode of season 4 part 2. This show is like a bottle of wine, getting better every minute
This one was a rollercoaster of an episode for sure. Weirdly enough, it seems there aren't any B plots in this second half of season 4. Wondering if that's intentional or just a coincidence.
You know what, i havent thought of that you are right
They had to let Solar Opposites borrow some B plots
@@mikesilverknight "some B plots"? Solar Opposites made me actually feel like their B should be the A plot
M E The Wall is a C plot. Just FYI. :P
I honestly can't think of a single movie where a character dies in a vat of acid. Batman doesn't count since the Joker wasn't killed. Maybe Roger Rabbit? I guess there's also that guy in Robocop who has the drum of toxic waste dumped on him, though that's not quite the same thing.
Terminator 2 I think. Not acid, but same "vat" style death.
This happened so often in cartoons and B movies though. Can't think of any big movie that did it however. As for the B movies, I unfortunately can't recall their names... because they sucked.
@@Andrew-eg7fy Oh, yeah, Terminator 2 might have crossed my mind as well, but I discounted it because it was molten steel instead of acid or toxic waste. It is kind of similar, though.
Not that it's a good movie by any means but in Batman Forever i think Two Face dies like this
There is that one Hannibal movie
Rick: Say the vat is good.
Morty: The vat is good.
Lesson. Don't mess with the Smartest Man in the Universe.
More like don't expect your abusive sick grandfather to just turn around and do you a solid one day. It'll never be about someone else to him, only you. Remember how in Season 1 and 2 it seemed like Rick cared about Morty? yep forget that.
@@daniele7989 I can't believe people are still defending Rick but the comment section is full of them.
Kiss the vat
Yeah, guys. We know rick is really toxic with Morty. Remember the end of s4xe3?
Marty McFly except the one thing that drives his motivation, “nothing matters” is maybe the one and biggest thing he’s wrong about
this has been killing me for a while, i need answers. Are we going to ignore the fact that Rick killed the "original" Morty in their primary reality transporting him into an equal probable reality where he disintegrates the primary rick of that reality an then resumes to hand an alternate Morty of that reality the "save game" remote, which means he gave an alternate Morty the remote. then Morty from that probable dimension leaves the original Rick when he transports himself +- 29 times into probable realities and a different Rick awaits him in the end and isn't bothered that this Morty killed his original Morty. which would mean that in the end Rick transported himself and morty to a reality that they both don't belong to and might run into "one" of their alternate selves. Or did the original Rick predict all of this and teleport himself to the last dimension that Morty teleports to. However this cannot erase the fact the original Morty is dead and Rick is traveling back home with the wrong Morty and the only way to fix this was to travel back in time and stop his former self from killing the original Morty, This would at the least ensure that there is a slight possibility that the original rick and the original Morty reunite in the end provided that Rick predicted and compensated for that scenario to occur.
Any explanations and theories are welcome to put this to bed.
This episode was the first time the show made me hate Jerry
Politically correct speech isn't my thing, fk off
ehm did you even watch the episode?
Jerry basically ruined the whole love story of morty and that girl by using the „savepointing device“ thinking it was a TV remote
No one had told him about the device, Rick has a habit of hooking up interdimensional cable, and it LOOKS like a remote.
Grayman 2003 First time?!
Jerry pisses me off every episode
Honestly its definitely not Jerry's fault that Morty kept the remote in such an open place and its not Jerry's fault Morty hasn't destroyed the remote or saved his life at least once after meeting his girlfriend. I don't see how Jerry could have known anything about it
I waited years before finally watching Rick and Morty. I was wrong to wait and I'm sorry.
Welcome. All is forgiven.
Welcome broths. You have arrived in a golden age.
Welcome my dude
At least you have hiatus
Me too wtf, I waited until April.
Thank you guys! For me this is the one/the best/favourite episode of all episodes of all created on our planet ever! Watched like a 10+ times already. Thankyouthankyouthankyou!
Probably my favorite episode of Rick and Morty . It was amazing
Dude did anyone see morty girl try to come to him before he went in the car of acid he went back to the reality where they had a relationship
It’s cos all his timelines merged into one
Reigen doesn’t matter, that wasn’t even morty universe
@Politically correct speech isn't my thing, fk off obviously he'll comeback
@Reigen the point was to show that she remembered morty because all the timelines or whatever got merged into one. just added extra pain for us to know that all wasn't completely wiped out and lost when it came to their relationship. then of course rick and morty left that dimension where 9/11 didn't happen etc. and morty continues to believe that the relationship is forever gone.
Erick Kyle You said "he went in the car of acid", I think there's an error there.
1:49
That exterior looks exactly like Moe's Tavern from The Simpsons
I love these little behind the scene videos just before the episode is view love it!!!
0:08 You can definitly be proud of that episode, it became my favorite episode so far. Great job! :)
Loved this episode. That extended sequence with Morty and the girl was brilliant. Of course Jerry would ruin it.
I laughed the first time I saw Morty's relationship get reset. But after rewatching it, it just makes me sad, man. I know it probably won't happen, but I hope she comes back somehow. Deepest into a relationship he's ever gotten!
THAT EPISODE WAS FREAKING AWESOME!
Great job, guys. Loved it
This is one of my favorite episodes. Thank you very much
Okay this is just a theory and I get that there are way too many theories for this show lol. But what I took away from it was that it was another way for Rick to assert his control over Morty and keep him in a subservient position. They can laugh, talk, even become healthier with each other but Rick is unquestionably the leader. Because he thought Morty was getting cocky, he had to remind him who’s boss.
And what did he say in season 1? A cocky Morty is bad for everyone. Who currently rules the citadel? Evil Morty. I could be wrong but I think this episode is another very small step towards the evolving subplot of Evil Morty taking his revenge against Rick.
This was the first truly brilliant episode of the season.
James Wilson this and the toilet episode
Rashid Emcee the first episode was pretty good tho ngl
Tickets please!
And Snake Jazz
All good points. And I'll admit, I already co-wrote a fan-fic based on the dragon episode. Glorzo was pretty good, too. But this was the best so far.
This was my favorite season 4 episode! Good job, the relationship between Rick and Morty differentiates with consequences in such a way that it pertains to life. Well played! And it was quite entertaining.
this was the best episode of season 4. Amazing job you guys i will rewatch this one over and over again
Best episode of the season and probably one of my favorite of the series!
This episode was a giant emotional roller coasters.
I am fine waiting an eternity for each new episode if the quality is consistently this good.
"KISS THE VAT"
I love that!
This is by far the best episode of this season maybe even of all time. Loved it so much
So are people finally done complaining about this season?
Some people just cannot be satisfied 😃
Claw & Hoarder is the only episode I didn’t care for. Everything else I’ve really enjoyed!
Nope try next time
Garrick Groover I have to agree with that. The dragons soul binding thing just got really weird and unnecessary.
Episode 6 was a trainwreck.
This is one of the better episodes of season 4. I love the simple idea of the acid vat and the time/detail that went into exploring it.
This was crazy I love how you did all of it😂😂😂
Absolutely loved it. I apologize for ever thinking that these group of madlads ever lost their touch.
I finished the episode, it was great. Thank you-
Two fav part about the remote control are (i) Morty did not use it once during his relationship - things were going well but it also alludes to his trust issues and insecurity (unsure if things will work so he want the option to go back to the first day and completely not meet her); and (ii) even in the toughest moment (when he found his back in the crash site) he opted for his phone instead of just a simple reset - she must mean a lot to him.
The episodes after the break have been so much better than the episodes before it. This was probably the best one this season imo
I like the fact how, it's obvious that Rick goes a little more crazy in every episode, but has a special hatred fueled crazy for how he gets about himself. And that speaks volumes
That episode was crazy
Great episode, had me in stitches. Love the Alive parody, kind of teared up and very touching.
Just finished watching this episode by far my favourite of this season and now, I think I'm going to watch it again!
What is that song at 1:33 I heard it before on toonami but what is it
Darude - Sandstorm
I felt like this episode was a homage to jokers old back story and that this episode was really well set ip
Instant classic! Brings up a lot of questions about time travel, alternate dimensions and teleportation technology
jacob, that "Alive" sequence was amazing.
Best episode of the season. The ending was epic.
This is one of my new top 5 episodes now. Super meta for the show to take on the trope with adding mortys side story.
Legit one of the absolute best episodes of the whole series.
I couldn't stop laughing and thinking about it for days.
This is my favorite episode of Rick and Morty by far, its so good and the cold open Vat of Acid joke is genius by itself but they somehow made it an entire episode and bookended it with more Acid Vat. The middle part of this episode is really beautiful but also hilarious.
I would literally make a petition for morty to end up with that girl rather than with jessica
This show is the best in the history of all
This season is the best yet
But this episode,
is something else.
Call me crazy, but I think this is building up the evil Morty. I get it, Rick is a sick bastard. : D
This episode is one of my favourite episodes of the show, and to hear that whole montage with the plane crash wasn't in the script proves how phenomenal this show is XD
ALL TIME FAVORITE EPOSOIDE EVER!!! just something about it . BRAVO!
I was just plain sad when jerry pressed the button and morty lost his girlfriend
This episode... ¡IT WAS EPIC!
Bro I love this video its sooo good one of my favorites!!!
What an episode! The best so far of S04. Last thing I would have expected in my life in a R&M episode was a reference to the "Alive!" story.
Honestly this episode alone would be a great "origin story" for Evil Morty.
You think it won’t be part of it? The one time they’ll use time travel is when “our” Morty goes back in time lol
No but seriously mark my words “morty’s mind blowers” um...the “fart” episode, the “purge” episode...if they don’t flash back to those and this as a way of establishing a deep-rooted origin of evil Morty (and remember, the events of those episodes and this theoretically “occurred” to evil Morty so it doesn’t even have to be our Morty), then they missed out on a great path to realistically create evil Morty. But knowing this show thats too predictable for them and god forbid you do something that’s good, but predictable, they’ll just have Evil Morty come out of a machine Rick builds or some dumb shit. Fingers crossed I’m wrong.
Dusk Legend that would be subverting expectations for the sake of subverting expectations. This show tends to subvert expectations with something much smarter or more fucked up than you were expecting. The former is like The Last Jedi style subversion. Much *much* different lol.
IMBD rating: 9.6
*Second highest rated episode of the entire series.*
still early days yet... but I see it staying in the 9. something category
I think that this was one of the best episodes ever. Not one of the funniest or most rewatchable, but just in terms of quality, with tales from the citadel as the top in the other two, and #2 in that one.
If they ever make a proper Rick and Morty platformer game, I want them to utilize that save/reset device. But have a counter in the corner of your screen for how many Mortys you had to kill to finish a level
Pretty neat concept, fits with their whole vibe too
Just saw the episode goddamn genius!
