- On Saturday 8 September 2012 Steamrail ran their annual "Maldon Experience" tour to Bendigo, connecting with the Victorian Goldfields Railway at Castlemaine for a side trip to Maldon. The train was 11 carriages and was hauled by North British built R class 4-6-4 steam locomotives R761 and R707.
This video features three scenes from the down journey between Sunbury and Castlemaine and three scenes from the up journey between Kangaroo Flat and Woodend. Also included is footage of 2-8-0 J class steam locomotive J515 on the Victorian Goldfields Railway between Castlemaine and Maldon.

Absolutely evocative!!! 😍😍The sounds of steam are enough to chill the blood of some of us! It's just one of those things I can never get enough of!!!
Nothing quite like the sound of steam, especially double headed R classes
I caught this magnificent train on the Down trip, at Gisborne. Marvellous!
Since that shot I've tried to take some more night videos of steam when I can.
Once again...this is brilliant work 👏 xx
Just brilliant, the scene through Woodend is outstanding, thank you for sharing these videos
