    It does seem like customers put enough $ into Texas utilities, coupled with the known Hurricane risks and Texas having so much energy resources and therefore tax base that building the infrastructure to handle a routine Cat 1 is a reasonable expectation.

  • @user-qb6od9yk7p
    @user-qb6od9yk7p Před 16 dny +1

    The answer is laziness and negligence on centerpoints part, they knew a cat 1 hurrican was going to hit and made the CHOICE to not have the service people out and ready. Centerpoint has no ground to stand on saying they could not be prepared when they have been in the past and knew what could happen with this hurricane, you would think after this happens to houston every few years Center point was more on top of things but they have proved that they care not about the people who pay them, only the money it self.

    Never rely on utilities, police or fire rescue during or after storms. It may take a while before you get full service back. Plan and have emergency backup plan: this includes food, water, power backup even if its only for a small refrigerator that can be run of solar batteries and inverter. First aid too betadine, alcohol bandages even a roll of duct tape flash light l.e.d. We were without power after Hurricane Andrew for close to two months. Just was glad I only lost 8 sheets of plywood. Having this experience we keep a backup tarp for the aftermath.

    Every year it seems most experts say weather patterns will continue to get worse and more severe. If the grid is NOT going to be updated and strengthened to reflect and counteract these changes, then atleast PERMANENTLY hire more Linemen to always be prepared for what we all know will continue to get worse every year. Isn't it obvious if you have to regularly outsource crews from out of town and from other states that they need more employees? Center Point at the very least should have to pay for all the food we keep throwing away. Most companies that regularly fail to meet their customers needs go under. It's time for a change.
