Lies of P is a Soulslike action role-playing video game developed by Neowiz Games and Round8 Studio, and published by Neowiz Games. The game was released for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Windows, macOS on September 18. This is a Lies of P review sorta. - Hry
I specifically made sure the clown nose was on the whole time
I appreciate the effort ❤
🤡
It made the cutscenes incredibly funny.
lie not the whole time , that one part you pot on another mask
Good man, as God intended
Honestly, to me, Lies of P has completely revolutionized the soulslike genre with what it has going for it. I think from now on we don't call games soulslikes, I think we should say that these games have a P'ness.
Genius
P'ness games rolls off the tongue better
It does sound like a great time, at least mechanics wise. Gonna be honest, after playing Nioh 2, I can't play any FromSoft Souls game anymore because they all feel so horribly bad to play, for a myriad of reasons, like the horrible controls, no real accessability options, design decisions that make me question just what were they smoking... I'm interested in giving Lies of P a try to see what it's like, though its a shame that the story is a let down.
This is why none of us should ever go deep into a french azzent/lh
Ahh, yes. An accurate naming for a genre of games designed to fawk you over at the beginning, until the end.
Here's a fun little detail that most people miss, when you become more human (ie lie a lot, listen to the records) P starts breathing and having more "human" like animations, grunting when attacking and gasping/exhalingfor air when dying, he also gets an actual dying animation instead of locking up and falling to the ground
Edit i also forgot, if you stand under the Hotel Krat Stargazer and look at your shadow youll see the size of your nose
It's details like this that put LoP above so many others a souls like.
You're saying this P is moaning?
WHAT! im going to try that out next
Another one: early on in the game you can hear his springs and gears winding up when charging a heavy, this is eventually replace with the aforementioned.
Poor guy lol, making him feel more pain with my every mistake
I'm starting to think he's not gonna make that Disco Elysium video
Not for a while at least. He has said during the Lies of P playthrough that up after this is Deep Rock Galactic followed by all 4 Mass Effect games.
@@GreenHam77 Also add armored core 4 answer there due to being convinced by Zen
I’m starting to think we’re not gonna get that DRG video
@aWraithsSoul FUCK
aWraithsSoul IVE BEEN SPAMMING THE SAME COMMENT FOR MONTHS BEFORE ANYONE TOLD ME THAT
I love that you unlock more p organ tiers in ng+cycles, the game legitimately rewards you for replaying with higher difficulty
Right? when i saw that i was shocked, like no frickin way!
And enemy damage gets terrifying, you NEED those upgrades lol
In regards for the way dodging vs parry is handled, I find that they're a lot closer in terms of viability. Certain bosses favor parry(mad clown puppet) and certain bosses favor dodge(walker of illusions). I spent hours on walker of illusions trying to parry everything, and when I purposefully started dodging basically everything, I killed it in 3 attempts.
This revelation was, for me, completely game changing when I realised.
King of puppetis a perfect example. Parry everything first phase and just dodge on second.
Same, i honestly bad at souls games (my fav one is sekiro), but when i realized if i shouol dodge or parry the game changed by alot, it was WAY WAY easier. and i played before the nerfs
enemy variety 🔗gameplay variety hell yea!
"Twinkothy Chardonnay" is now his legal name
13:28 It is indeed a strange Korean translation. From what I understand, the Korean word for blood starts with a “pee” sound and hence P-Organ and Lies of P are both puns about Blood and Pinocchio/Puppet.
I always love seeing which bosses people struggle on because it's usually never the same. I remember taking multiple tries with the King of Puppets when Bricky I believe took it down quick, but he took way more tries than me fighting the green swamp monster.
Ha, jokes on you; I struggle on every boss!
Bricky forgot to mention that not only does the handle alter scaling, it determines your moveset. You can put the biggest fucking hammer in the game onto a knife handle and try to stab people with it
Interestingly enough lies of p was my introduction to the souls like genre and I played the game so damn much there’s nothing left for me to do having already gotten every achievement and challenge runned it. Truly an amazing souls game
Play bloodborne ASAP. it's still my favorite BY FAR and I've been playing souls games since Ds1 on the ps3
Funny same here. I played bloodboune but never completed it. Lies of P I completed it 3 times. Got all the endings and loved it.
@@yurtthesilentgod1225 got nearly 300 hours phenomenal game deserving of the potential soft remake we’ll be seeing in the shadow of the erdree dlc if leakers are to be believe
@@yurtthesilentgod122530fps is a no go
@@Eval999 confirmed kid. Just a few years ago all games were 30. I know the zoomer mentality is hittin hard but og dark souls 1 2 demon souls were 30 and nobody complained till big corpo told you it was essential. Please broaden your horizons stop being mindless sheep. Or just go back to call of duty.
Fun fact about the Throwables in lies of P (spoiler warning ahead.)
The games speedrun fights the final boss, the ultra serious Simon Manus, the new god, mr reach out and touch space himself, almost entirely by throwing shot puts at him.
Yeah, throwables in Lies of P aren't just strong they are stupidly overtuned.
@@Ashtarte3D Probably the reason it's hard to come buy and bit of a grind. It's practically a free pass on a boss you have problems with.
@@Ashtarte3D Thats because unlike other souls games, the throwables here actually scale properly and remain useful. If people want to build their organ for throwing nonsense AND spend the time grinding or buying so many throwables to use, that is for them to decide. It's just another viable option. What the game is good at.
That being said, i still think the nerfs were just too much for the game. What is worse they tuned up the little summon spirit thing by so much that if any new player uses it, any boss will be nothing. Bosses need to be dialed up and the phantom dialed down a bit.
OKAY BUT CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE RECORDS YOU CAN FIND THAT PLAYS MUSIC IN THE HOTEL?!?!?!?
TOP 5 SOULS LIKE MUSIC FOR ME
They made the hub world customizably cozy like that it's amazing 😢
Bro i cry like a bitch when i hear feel
Unironically one of the best soundtracks in a videogame. Every record hits
I played it a few months ago, and i needed 40 or 50 trys for the King of Puppets.
I had a relatively slow weapon, and if i missed a parry, i was nearly dead.
That was one of the best fights ever and so much fun to perfect it.
As a baby souls gamer, I found Lies of P a great gateway into soulslikes and Fromsoft games in general. It felt difficult, yes, but also very forgiving. The consumables were always useful in a pinch, leaving your ergo outside the boss doors instead of in the arena itself was a HUGE boost, the runbacks were never too bad, and even the spectre was lifesaving for some difficult bosses without making the fight feel too easy or steamrolled. I actually really enjoyed summoning the spectre for both Brotherhood fights, it quickly turns the whole thing into a hectic brawl that I found super fun.
totally! was so streamlined its smooths out the rough edges of the genre
VERY TRUE! Just finished it myself as well, and my only real complaint was a multi-boss near the end of the game. I may not be much of a parry person, but Lies of P was fucking phenomenal
Yo Happy Souls reference! 10:53
I was surprised but remembered this is Bricky of course he knows Happy Souls
Right down the road!
Easily in my favourite games of last year list, I'm so glad more people are talking about it. It's amazing that this is the dev team's first real game
Something this game does that seems minor when you just hear it, is that if you die on a boss, your Ergo (souls/Blood Echoes equivalent) are dropped outside the fog gate rather than where you died in the arena. It makes such a massive difference in the run backs to not have to worry about having to dodge the boss to get your stuff back before focusing on fighting them again
Edit: Also, yeah, Technique builds are generally really good in this game. A lot of the encounters really lean towards getting in lots of little hits to build up more stagger and stop the enemies from regenerating health (because they have their own rally ability) rather than having to either risk parries or wait for an opening big enough for the chonkbeast slow weapons to be able to finish a swing, especially since some of the later bosses really don't care to give you that much breathing room.
It’s like the developer stumbled onto a hidden cheat code for redesigning the souls like genre. What they did is nothing less than astonishing .
Geppetto says "IT'S P-ING TIME!" and then Ps all over the place
he Ped so hard you guys
Possibly the only one of these jokes that made me laugh.
I can't wait for the sequel. This type of gameplay and lore (fairytales) go PERFECTLY hand in hand.
I just want dlc expansions!
@@JormyyyThey already confirmed both
If Lies of Poo has more areas like Rosa Isabella street or tries their hand at a Dark Souls 1 like map or just tries to incorporate more big moments it has a reasonable chance to make the greatest Souls game.
@@Peroshy They definitely have a shot, this game is if nothing else, a FANTASTIC foundation for future games.
exactly! everyone's excited and looking out for whats their next take towards Grimm's Fairytale like Alice in Wonderland, Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, etc... they had a lot to choose from
I am physically unable to go back into the parrying system of the Souls games after LoP. It's probably the single most satisfying parry I've ever experienced.
Also I'm shocked that not a single point was made about the SOUNDTRACK OH MY GOD IT'S EXQUISITE.
This game is one of the few games that engrossed me so much i almost finished it in one sitting. The soundtrack and gameplay got me hooked.
I was engaged and would have done the same if I didn't die so many times!
I remember on release I couldn’t get a single stance break because the punish windows were straight up too short for my strength weapons attacks really glad they kept rebalancing and improving the game after release
11:02 The Bloodbath Blade Movie Music got me good. Well done Skater!
I finished the game this week, and i LOVED IT, it felt like a genuine step up for the soulslike formula, and i agree absolutely, this is the best soulslike gameplay i've ever played.
This game did something to me. I don't think I've ever been more awestruck after finishing a game. Like I find it hard to describe how beautiful this game was. I teared up listening to the fascination instrumental, this game is just high art.
I’m here for the information bricky can provide to my small and feeble brain.
I played during 1.0, it was hard. they added a bunch of stuff and speed weapons were buffed as well later on. Specifically I remember they made the umbrella move from D to S tier.
this game reminds me of very cool old game called nightmare creatures
impossible to play that nowadays but it was awesome and had very unique atmosphere
Congrats on surpassing 1 million subs Bricky! Glad to see your quality content is reaching more people!
I got the baton from the big guy just before the Mad Donkey and I used that handle for the entire game while changing the blade cause I loved the moveset THAT much
oh i was waiting for this video after watching the live stream of your walkthrough , glad you did a video about it . thanks baba bricky
Lies of P alongside Sekiro and Elden Ring are my absolute favorite soulslike games ever, i swear i spent most of my playthrough thinking to myself "are we really really REALLY sure this game wasn't made by fromsoft?"
God I love that you put pontyff saltivahn in this vid, must be my favorite bricky-bossfight
10:54 A Happy Souls reference in 2024? Heck yeah. Best DS animation ever
I appreciate the fire emblem awakening deployment music during explanation of handles and blades :)
If they pull off Lies of Dorothy right, we may very well finally have a Souls competitor. Fairytale Souls has almost INFINITE potential.
Bricky forgot to mention the banger music
Oh Bricky, 1,000,000 subs Bricky. (Congrats btw you’ve earned it), where’s the mass effect review Bricky, where’s the Garrus, my beloved, Bricky.
A funny way to spell jack there.
I did a STR/arcane build and I breezed through the bosses pretty quickly as well, although Walker of Illusions really gave me a hard time. Loved the game and am looking forward to what they do next.
The snapcube reference at the end lmfao
Alright, the brickle seal has swayed me. I'll pick this one up and play it.
this game has been on my backlog for awhile. been nervous about getting into it but this review gives me confidence to try it out.
In following ng+ playthroughs, all enemies and especially bosses, have a LOT more hp and dmg
I think you're the only person I've seen reference Happy Souls since it came out, and I just want to personally thank you for doing that. That video lives in my soul
Like the mic settings :D
That intro was simply spectacular, well done!
100% going in to my wishlist, once I get a computer I’ll try it out, thanks Bricky
Bricky get out of my head.
The last few videos have been games ive fallen in love with OR games i was interested in then you drop a video and voila.
New favorite game. Thanks again
Idk why but the editing of blade and the little hit of the rave music from the movie made me laugh lol great job
Glad I played this during my month gamepass trial, still need to buy it to finish that last ending tho
9:55 I was just about to comment about the _V.A. Proxy_ nuke parry, but you went ahead and did it for me.
And he's probably *right* too. I've managed to parry the exploding clown puppet's blast.
I admit I struggled in some boss fights, but I also admit I failed to parry most of the time. I still beat it and I still enjoyed it immensely. Also Bricky, if you found it it easy try the NG+ mode it might even things out and make the bosses more difficult for you, it also has some cool extra lore pieces not found in the first play through, especially against Romeo.
Bricky you forgot to mention the music, the music is amazing! also love your videos dude
I was *not* expecting the Daigo parry clip
22:34 Bricky Makes an Announcement
6:24 Never thought I’d see the day where Paper Mario music is used as background music for talking about soulslikes.
You still gotta play Midnight Suns, it is the most surprisingly good game I've ever played. Easily 100+ hours can be spent in it and its just amazing in gameplay and story
Y’know, seeing Nioh and Nioh 2 in the beginning gave me a warm smile, it was the first game in the soulsborn genre I completed and made me appreciate all the other games that had this formula.
The gang fight cutscene really remind me of Frostpunk2 trailer
I was not expecting a Lies of P review SICK
lies of p best soulslike combat? objectively correct take
This game was so fantastic that half way through my 3rd run i realised I missed something in the real boy ending so i had to do another run and was happy to do that 4th run easily my favorite game last year
WOOOOO! Italian Lore mentioned!
Dunno if you've played the surge 2, but it's got an amazing directional block/parry. Love it
I like the Happy Souls reference. Got a good smile out of me
I love how they took the rabbits with the coffin from the original story and turned into a boss fight!
This is just the video I need to help me activate my P-organ! Thank you Bricky
0:03 segway! Bricky is obliterating the "sponsorsegway any%" speedrun 😤
*Lies of P being the only souls like i can progress in*
bricky: this game needs to be harder
me: don't do this to me...
I was not expecting the Code Vein clip at the beginning. He'll yeah
I suggest you review Kenshi next. Love your vids!
A lot of people don't know this, but the 2 subsequent playthrought adds more perks to the perk tree and also increases the difficulty. If you've only played it one, i recommend playing it again as new game plus!
So what you're telling me is that P is stored in the heart
I got to swamp area and my steam messed up somehow and corrupted my save. Its a great game but I dont know if I'd play it again from scratch.
I wasn't ready for a happy souls reference
Just started playing it like a week ago. Really enjoying it, neck and neck with dark souls 3
I played through it on release before any patches with a heavy weapon build and it was the first souls like where I would not finish it if I did not use phantoms. There are many great mechanics that I wish other souls games had and I could really see all the effort put into it, but, at least on release, bosses were just tedious. Most of them had 2 giant healthbars that between my slow weapon and bosses constantly dashing around took just soo long to get through. It came to a point where I could perfect parry through the full first phase of every boss and it still took me 3 or more minutes to get to the second phase, which sometimes is a completely different boss with a new moveset. From what I remember, the King of Puppets was the biggest offender in this regard, and my personal breaking point.
Im playing lies of p in a full block build. I'm not good at parrying nor like dodging... So when I found a handle that had the ability to absolute guard everything?... Welp that's what I use when I see a red attac comin
always great to see a happy souls reference haha
What are yalls favorite handle-blade combination? I like bonesaw blade and blade dancer handle. Big damage with big quick.
Boss weapons? Yes right down the road😅 loved that you included that. One of the best souls animations ever made. Gotta love the happy souls
My lies of P sense were tingling. I had a random urge to search "lies of p" on youtube after not thinking of the game for months and here the video was waiting for me
I played this game on release with a strength build, i love the huge weapons thing. This game was very difficult on release with a strength build IMO. I havent played it a second time yet but still.
Brichard B Brickles when the box says wireless microphone it means the transmitter not the microphone itself.
10:55 appreciate the reference to classics. Love the overall meme stuff!
Only bricky would open a video with PUPPETS DONT EAT!
I like that the boss he died the most upon was the Green Monster XD
Just the boss whose name is a Descriptor of Shrek, and that looks like a mutant Red Guy from Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared
THE HAPPY SOULS REFERENCE THAT MY FRIEND AND I QUOTE WEEKLY
This is my favorite souls like game, and I love seeing the review here.
20:20 SUMMON HIM! JACOB GELLER!
On point review!
I think you should have experienced the game the way it was when it came out since quite a few things were harder. As a matter of fact you still can do that since steam allows you to download the initial release of the game. In order to have a more difficult time with the bosses, try not to use throwables at all since they are seriously OP in this game.
The game at launch was brutal in difficulty. Especially Simon manus. He had roughly 25 percent more health on first phase, and his damage was a lot higher(his 3 swing combo would just kill your)
10:55 RIGHT DOWN THE ROAD
After I'm done beating the last boss of Sekiro I'm defo going to play this game !
I forgot this game was a thing. It actually looks really, really cool. I'll have to get this at some point.
This game in my opinion was better then most software games I played and think it stands on it's own.
I think the only thing that gave me a hard time is that the frame and timing of the dodge was different from what I was used to so it felt really weird when i was playing but I did get it after a while and it was smooth failing from there.
Now its time for the pacific drive review
Twinkathy Shardne is wild.
