Always Enjoy seeing an Operation especially when there is NO blood involved. 😬👍🙏
If you turn those channel locks over they will work better. Bottom always facing the direction of twist...
I didn't want to say anything 😅
very important to weigh refrigerant that came out,if moisture you do not want to re use.never saw u check drier.thanks for sharing.leak for sure.
My man, if there is a threaded nut holding the distributor onto the line, there definitely is a piston inside. If it were cap tubes, they would just be sweat in. Also, often times there is a fine mesh screen that is sock shaped that will often clog before it gets to the piston, some units have em, some don't.
Glad I am not th3 only one that needs extra light during day
I always cut the dryer out and put it on the outside.
Yup
Love watching all your videos! Been watching since I started going to school for hvac and your videos have helped me get started in the field!
Really glad they help. Thanks for sharing.
@@HVACGUY 👍🙏
“We found this on the web…” 😂 gets me every time…
Now that was fun! Thanks Curtis
You should just switch your scale to just ounces so that you don’t have to convert back to pounds. Make life easy. 👍
Excellent job Curtis
Thanks Curtis
Boy that compressor sure quieted down after the gas up. Good yob. I wonder if it's ever been looked at since install.
Heating any metal up and letting it cool down is called annealing , they use it in glass making also.
Nice job of not burning those wires
Good job Curtis
Great video this is awesome learning experience 👍
Perhaps a leaking Schrader valve?
You can help pull down your vacuum by adding nitrogen a second time to 5psi.
We call it a 2nd wash
Thanku curtis for the vids ur a good guy and thanku for not judging me because I have a little bit of autisum and I'm going to be out in the field I hope some companies are judgey unfourtnetly
this may be a great field for you. it is for me. working alone fits me just fine.
@@HVACGUY that's what I'm looking for working alone
Man those junky old goodmans. Just kidding, nice work.
Teflon gasket on piston should be changed?
Only need 10ft lbs of torque on Teflon ring gaskets.
Nice work bud.
Have removed small debris from piston office many times.
Small blade of grass once on inside 😎 coil
I was told to cut the filter dryer and never use fire because it will remove the moisture from it and send it back to the rest of the system
The restriction could be in the filter dryer
I agree, take temperatures across it.
But I don’t think you could since he said it pumped down which probably means all of the refrigerant just back up at the drier and in that case you can’t see a temp drop
Use that staybrite 8 solder on those joints less heat and it’s as strong as braze
I would think 2 crescent wrenches would be easier than fighting with those pliers, trying to tighten that nut for the piston housing
Nice work. Wished you would have blown thru the drier to confirm restriction Where do you think the restriction was? What was the total amount of refrigerant to put in unit. Again nice work
I think total was 8 lb. 12 oz.
That's what I wanted to say.
I always look forward to your videos every day, it has become a learning experience! I was wondering if it would have been OK to put Nylog on the threads of the piston housing? I still have trouble with piston vs TXV on expansion orifices🤔 Thanks for the Video 👍🇺🇸
It has a Teflon seal, so it isn’t necessary
@@HVACGUY Thanks for the info, I didn't know 👍
I personally use nylog on the threads for future disassembly, it definitely makes it easier to remove later on and it will not contaminate the system as it is compromised of a thickened oil. Use it if you prefer, Especially if you have a brass nut on an aluminum coil! Save yourself some future heartache as they love to bind on the aluminum threads.
Love the video’s one question what brand are those self adjusting pliers ?
Great job Curtis just asking could you break vacuum on liquid side and weigh total charge in much faster?
When you put the refrigerants back into the unit, you only add what the unit came with initially? Aren't you supposed to add extra depending on the lines length?
👍👍😊😊
If you put two open end wrenches on those flats and squeeze them together, that fitting would come right apart. Same way to tighten. Did you blow thru that old drier to see if it was plugged? Where did the restriction end up being? The top edge of that condenser looks filthy. Hope the rest of it isn’t that bad. I never let a system sit in a vacuum for an hour. Air will get in somewhere. If you only got 2+ lbs of refrigerant out, where did the other 5+ lbs go? Maybe not a restriction at all, if it was that low.
Curtis still think work was too notch on this unit today but think your suction saturation temp was29.2 degrees on a 62degree and about 75 inside today. Maybe the the piston wrong size. Check the specs or call customer service. It will be icing up prematurely in colder weather
you should take time to clean the area around where you are going to solder /braze your copper I now from experience 😅
Atleast drown the debris with water before brazing..
never used new teflon seal? is it better to relocate drier to in side before the eval coil?
How did you diagnose that restriction? Working down to a vacuum?
hi Curtis,
who makes those yellow-handled lever action pliers? i can't see a name on 'em.
thanks!
when you added that second tank you never burped it or didn’t show it?
What kind of yellow handled pliers do you have?
Hello,GOODMAN,IS WHAT JANITROL,WAS,AKA JANAJUNK, so they got it better & put a great warranty,on it,,,MANY MOONS ALL THOSE YNITS made by the SAMEcompany, used to have a small drier BEHINDthe compressor, which when plugged, most people never knew it was there,SO I WROTE THEN,ASLING,TO NEVER DO THAT AGAIN,,but they also had complaints,so it’s been omitted ,thank god, anyhow ,nice job,I would have done the same thing, you did,put a line drier,,,,, stay well,,,,🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
What camera do you use?
Just curious, was the dryer you took out a solid block core?
🤷♂️
What’s the purpose of that piston?
Curtis was it about 62degrees outside. I don’t have those gauges?
That sounds about right. It was a little warm today.
Thanks
Great job Curtis. What do you think about stay-brite 8 silver versus copper phosphorus for joints.
Tried it once, and it worked. But, I don’t trust it.
What brand of channel locks are those with the yellow handles?
you May be talking about the new Klein pliers wrench
Still running home warranty?
they make some to go on your drill so you dont have to hand to that copper
How much you charge for a job like this ? Plz do reply will be greatly appreciated
sorry but you should have done the leak search at the same time
That condenser coil looks restricted, it is so filthy.
Yeah that coil was stopped up bad!
That condenser coil looks pretty dirty.
Moisture in the system?
The don’t build plastic cases like they use to
Oh man look at all that room! How you lovin the tall van? 🚐
Like working in the Taj Majal
Great job Curtis just asking could you break vacuum on the liquid side and weigh in total charge much faster?
How is your ultra taking the beating ? My old watch couldn’t take the abuse
The face doesn’t have a single blemish. Micro abrasions on titanium housing.
