  • Graco 9.5 Finish Pro Hvlp Spray Painting Cabinate Doors TIP. Heres a quick video from a recent job site. Using the Graco 9.5 finish pro hvlp sprayer to spray kitchen cabinate doors.
I always keep my finger on the air and just release enough to stop the paint. This prevents the pressure from dropping each time you pull the trigger leaving you with an uneven coating.
I spray painted Tikkurila Akva primer first and did a dust coat, this is quicker light coat which dries really fast. I then apply a second normal coat ontop about 10minutes after. The fog coat seals any possible issues in or makes them visible so they can be quickly sorted out with out having to wait for a standard coat to dry before you sand out. Finish coats will be in Helmi 10.
Any questions please let me know in the comments. Thanks for watching.

Love your videos thanks for all the content! We’ve recently brought the 9.5 to start spraying kitchen doors/panels. Doors we’ve brought in in the past have chipped or scratched quite easily. Want our doors to be very durable would you recommend the best type of primers and paints to use. I’ve been told a PU primer and water based paint make a solid bond and work well together? Any thoughts at all? Many thanks

No not really a 3 stage is around 6psi
4 stage is around 9 psi
5 stage is 9.5psi. So only .5psi difference but you generally get a power dial on the 5 stage bigger units. Id say its more in the gun and needle selection. obviously upgrading is great, i like to have several different guns and varied needles too

Seen quite a few american videos of them refinishing baths but just wondering what product you would spray thats available in the UK?

@@sprayaholic Not sure if your too interested however found out some more today.
AWLCraft 2000 Looks quite expensive around £390 for the paint, converter, thinner and primer for just 1Quartz of paint.
Looked at alternative called alexseal 501 which is the main competitor too AWLGRIP AWLCRAFT 2000 also designed for painting the top sides of boats. Phoned the Alexseal parent company mankiewicz who were very helpful. They said AWLGRIP and Alexseal are likely not the right paint although other have used for this purpose however they have another paint sold by mankiewicz designed for swimming pools that would be designed for this purpose of under water.
Phoned a few specialists as was thinking that might be a better option however prices range from £500 too 905 without the outside being painted which would be another £250.
One thing I found strange is these specialists say they will only spray in your house but is that appropriate as most of these options seem to be 2k polyurethane paints?

Hi Mate, I love your videos and try various tips you give. I have a couple of questions. I am doing my first kitchen in Caparol pu satin and primed with halftprimer. What is the number of coats you do on the kitchen doors? And what is the waiting time in-between them? Have you ever used clear coat like Kiva on top ? Cheers

Thanks for watching. Ive never put kiva on any of mine. But kiva is good and probably would make it more durable.
I do degrease and sand. Then prime, check for tannins, buff prime again. Then i usually wet on wet twice for the top coat. So 2 or 3 tops. After the prep has been done on the primer those next coats shouldn't really need much and should be going flat.
I would prime, then as soon as it was dry enough to sand i would, sometimes after and hour. Then re coats. I then try top coats next day

hi, have you got the hoses connected in the right way? i will add a video as soon as i get time to show how to connect a pressure pot correctly.
Also primers do spray nicer than top coats, you may need to thin the coating a little or warm the paint. you dont want too much air as youll dry the paint if its not the right atomisation and it will dry rough. you also need to be applying enough paint so that it levels into its self. oftn people dont apply enough paint and the thin coveraged paired witht he warm air blowing out it will give a rough finish

All the hvlp turbines ive had in the past got hot. Its a moving part and feeds warm air to the hose so it does get hot.
I love it had it since before the release and i made a few videos on it already.
