Do you prefer to ride in mud or dry conditions?
dry mud no both
Dry, But i don't have a bike
Snow>Mud :D
Both, I need to be really motivated to ride in wet conditions as they're more challenging
somewhere in the middle but closer to dry
I personally love riding in the mud and always find it hilarious when other riders quietly say âthat guy is so muddyâ.
i like riding in mudy track but i hate taking care of the bike after that
Same, if I didn't have to wash the bike after I'd be a lot more inclined to plow through it haha.
Who else loves mud?
i love and ride all conditions
Who doesnât
Muds fun
wait until you get to sweden and ride in snow and ice with -15 Cđ€Ł
@@ellionluxemburg2311 -15 đ„¶ sounds awful Iâm glad it never gets that cold in England think Iâd just stay home by the fire if it did đ
Same here
it's great having Neil present this stuff, great advice in an engaging but no-nonsense manner
You guys In the UK are the experts in mud đ
I commute to work on a vintage 1985 specialized stumpjumper every day. I prefer dry conditions. But I dont mind the mud. I Love all the videos. Thanks for all the great tip and tricks.
Cool video - I love riding in mud. That bit at the end about a manual was particularly helpful. It would have been nice to have more bits like that - ie the technical aspects of riding in the mud - how you use your brakes in particular.
Great content! And I really like when you guys say something about trail building. I wish you do more videos about it. After all, every day trailbuilding makes you a better rider! (I can almost hear Mr. Martyn saying that phrase).
Cheers to the mud people!
I am From India,
i was recently transferred from a plain to a mountain terrain .
i am 11 yrs old .
so backtrack a little
1 month before my transfer i started researching about mountain biking .
i didn't got any interest but when i arrived then i started my research again i was so happy to find your channel, How to ride up and down slopes ,Scary obstacles, scary and rough terrain, mistakes cornering....
6 months later ,currently in Feb 2022 i am pro at all of these like just i was so happy to just do it the right way..
i live in a society so there is a speed limit while going down slopes but your tips and videos helped me a lot ....
Thank you for posting informative and motivational energetic videos.

I was riding in the mud on downhill with my uncle and I got mud in my eyes and almost ran off the trail into a stream.so now I will start wearing gogles.
Thank you gmbn.
Hey guys, I love watching your videos. Can you do a video on riding in the snow, for all your up North winter riders.
That's great advice about pressures!
I keep the same pressures all year round and ride to the conditions too, simply because my local trails here in Australia are rocky as heck whilst ALSO being made of a clay which when wet, defies physics in it's viscosity. đ
Best to make the weather the variable rather than my tyre pressures.
Winter miles summer smiles đ đ
Mud > Dry! đ
Smashing video guys! Loved this

Love these videos!
This thing is amazing!
My friends always go riding when its raining becuso we like to get mudy and like how the bike controls love the vid
Love the vids keep it up
I love riding in the mud. Sometimes some of the best rides! Just the faff of change of clothes and getting the bike all cleaned after every ride!
Nice vid keep up the Good work
I lived in Madrid for 10 years. Loose over super hard pack. Rain meant better grip. The risk of washing out the front was way greater in the dry. The little grains would dig into a soaked hard pack and cornering was way faster

Sick vid đđ
With puddles on turns I find that you can use the outside edge of the puddle for a bit more support
Thanks for the vid, nice as always đ
I would say INCREASE tyre pressure in muddy conditions. With a lower pressure youâll float on top of the mud.
A cycle cross tyre digs deep in the mud and get grip on the surface under it...
I agree. I've always felt much more stable with higher pressure in muddy conditions.
@@lokedhs but the rolling resistance will be terrible
Our mtb org in my part of Canada asks us not to ride in the rain. Luckily summer is usually dry and winter is snow so it doesnât keep me from riding much.
When it has rained a few days past the ground isn't muddy, but still moist. That is my personal prefered condition.
Love the vids
Great video. Weâre not aloud to ride in the mud in Australia . Can you do a video on How to get our trail centres to let us ride on muddy days
When I was younger I rode in all conditions but now that I am older I avoid the mud. I hate the clean up and wear and tear.
Couldn't have said it any better. I avoid it as much as possible. The cleanup alone is ridiculous. Especially on a FS with all the pivots and linkage. I'm definitely a fair weather rider!
Same haha. I enjoy mud on the hardtail far more.
The best thing is to ride really steep trails, the water will just run down the trails no chances for puddles. Best trails for that are at Glulfie in Scotland
Muddy riding is just necessary if you live in the UK. Bike maintenance doubles and trail speed halves. So its not fun, but I agree, it does help improve skills if you don't crash.
people think Australia is dry but for a large portion of the year in NSW it is a lot like this.
Love riding in the mud, but it does tear up the trails so I try to minimize it... Thanks for mentioning that you should follow your local guidance, NEMBA organization by us is struggling to keep trails open and this is one of the primary things that gets them shut down.
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
*Me who lives in south Cali* Oh yeah this is going to help me big time
Muddy?? Looks like summer up north
cool, thanks. In which spot did you record this video? Nice trails đ
Around here as soon as there is mud they say stay off the trails so you dont mess it all up,I want some mud trails!haha
Take a shot when Neil says mud
El silicon shineeee mtb enduro chile
I rode my Huffy Rock Creek Kolo bike through the mud, I'm glad my bike was able to still ride on the mud while my back wheel was spinning as I pedal, but it didn't like it much... The mud was on my back brake, and underneath the back break where the mud is touching the tire, and every time I drive my bike on the road, it just throws mud everywhere, I tried speeding up my bike as fast as I can, and the dirt is still on my bike (nothing really bad happened to it, I cleaned off the mud with my fingers)
Can you use those bike protect sprays on a matte finish paint?
Getting back into MTB riding, what pressures should I be running for mud riding? Thanks
What's the mud guard that your bike have? I like it.
imo mud rides = FUN rides
I hate mud but this video is perfect for me riding mtb here in ireland! đ
Glad we could help! đ§đ
@@gmbn Could you help me? I have a different kind of mud. Where I am I have clay like dirt, the mud is very clumpy and thick, not very wet for mud so it is kinda sticky. What would help me?
Please review this bike Nuke Proof Mega 290c 2021.
I keep my bike in the flat, so after every muddy ride I have to complettely wash my bike, which makes muddy rides pretty annoying.
Besides that, wet roots and stones are hell because you just can't go as fast.
hi guys, where's this beautiful track where you're riding? I'm in SW London and struggling to find MTB tracks :) cheers
I hate mud, especially puddles, arghhhh! Like I donât mind it being wet but thereâs nothing I hate more than sliding around and not feeling in control.
Was hoping this would tell me how to ride in the mud without getting mud on me and having to wash my bike.
I like riding in all conditions but not with a lot of mud AL little bit wet is ok and good but mud is not my thing.
I live in Seattle Washington and it has either lots of mud or none
Anyone have recommendations for a good XCO winter tyre?
What kind of waterproof flats are you using?
What ergon saddle is that with the name down the side?
Best for the sport to stay off the mud. Shocking that some don't understand excessive damage to the trails. Maybe it's different in the UK?
Ya in the Southeast US where I live riding mud is certainly considered bad form...
@Monolithic Juggernaut Lmao there's plenty of respect for the trails in the UK, it's just that it's muddy way more often than not, so unless you want to ride 1 day a year there isn't much choice to be had
Did you get some silicone spray on your bottle top?
I like riding in the mud because you can slide all in the berms
Thanks Neil. I ride in a type of clay that when it gets even a little wet it packs the tires in five minutes and thatâs the end of your ride. Any tips?
Spray the tires when Teflon or silicon spray, that way the clay won't stick in the first place.
@@dylan-5287 thanks for the tip. My questions would be... will that affect traction on the paved surfaces on my way o the trails and what process to remove the silicone after for a next da y dry ride? Thanks again
where can I buy a mudguard just like yours? thx
I have ridden mud in last year on a 40km long mtb race. Deep sticky mud, +4Celsius temp, heavy wind, and some raining. I got a flat on the middle of the race. It was very hard to change the tube with my frozen muddy covered fingers on my VERY dirty bike. So, never again. My bottom bracket is screwed up. Okay its funny for once. But never again.
We got two of these for our daughters czcams.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L the same size for age 6 and 9. It works very well for both girls. Gears were very easy for them to learn. Changing gears up takes some hand strength and is a bit hard, but they are learning. They did not come with water bottle holders- we actually got confused and thought the Derailler Guard was the bottle holder!! Regardless of these details, the bikes are fantastic- even our six year old who only just learned to ride bikes caught on within an hour of practice and loves it. Lightweight and easy for them to handle. All the parts are in excellent condition and the bikes are easy to assemble and very well packaged. Great choice for kids!
love being in New Zealand
2:00 RIP disc brakes.... probably best to just apply it to a cloth first and then wipe in it on... thoughts?
I always take my wheels out and cover the brake callipers for this sort of thing.
Check the Propain Mountain bikes!â€
I like dry better but i also like mud
3:12 What brand is that mudguard?
Rrp ro guard bolt on
Mud is my middle nameđđđ
How do you ride mud?
Just add water
103rd!
I wish more people would drain the big puddles, only takes a few minutes and saves wet feet
Crack on pal
đ€ Mud wasn't that a band from the seventies?
2:00 Spray like in the video, and your brake pads immediately goes into the TRASH BIN.
dusty conditions < muddy slop đ
I am gonna have to disagree with you on that
Yo
The best way to learn to ride in mud is to spend a winter riding in loose pack snow.
Send it, slip half way and fall face first into mud. Works all the time!
Is this video about 'riding in the mud' ?
I'd say that you should not fight a rut
1.8k like
Silicone lube is nasty stuff for people and nature. I don't like that recommendation. Also, is tearing up trails in the mud sustainable? In the US, we close trails to preserve the trails.
4th
B.C is pretty bad too
Without watching the video, I'm guessing what is mentioned;
1. Winter tyres
2. Line choice
3. Winter clothing
How did I do?
buy a nukeproof mega, also đ
And in Canada they moan about slightly wet trails...
Great tips! But mud riding isn't for me! đđ
Dont ride anymore then.
I would like riding in mud but its just I haye washing my bike afterwards
Plus washing your clothes and your car :'(
@@superspecky4eyes Yeah and if you have a saddle bag and frame bag its also a pain.
Please dont Use the Silicon shine like thisđits not good on your brakesđTry the Same in the dark with a flashlight an you see that the Spray are on the whole bike and not only on the frame
Used to be a decent page. But sadly it's more about selling and marketing now than MTB.
Mud riding is cool.. until you slip your front wheel đŹ
dry
If you live here, you don't. Because it fucks up the trails.
Ur talking about a bike cost above 3000$ my bike cost 400$ đit is not ur fail i know
I like muddy riding itâs just the dirty clothes after every ride that annoys me
First xD
