Hey sir, love your videos. I'm fifteen and you've inspired me to become, in the last few years, an amateur: blacksmith, machinist, carpenter, miniature maker, and painter. I make miniature axes, knives, and swords, if you're interested in having one sent to you :)
Do you post vids?
Beastmodeiscool you can just send me one
Ray D. No but if you think I should than maybe 👍🏻
Blake O'Brien where can I find his PO box?
hell yes brother!
The off kilter piece of wood is one of those types of ideas i would never think of doing. So easy yet so smart.
I am glad I watched this video. It has educated me on methods I can incorporate into my own knife making.
Glad to see your all you videos/art making it to your channel. You are an inspiration. Thank you.
nah don't believe its Diresta, no logo.
All fake news, ah?
It's an alternative diresta

Beautiful craftsmanship. That burrito at the end was pretty darn nice, too....
I love how you've just got the perfect vision on how to approach a task!
Jimmy, thanks for all the great video(new and old) and the podcasts. You guys are a constant source of information and inspiration.
burrito was the best part
Greg Reals you fatass, that's the only thing you noticed.
Greg Reals yea i like burritos to
lol
Damn straight! that burrito look Fye AF
Hardest thing to cut, really. Everyone should cut a burrito without crushing it when showing off their sharpening skills.
Johnny Steen He should've tried it on a piece of meat.
Really enjoyed watching this!!!! Wish I had one! Beautiful piece!
Well, I can't draw a straight line with a ruler. The Coping Saw piece was good to see.
Love your work.
Awesome job Jimmy! I like the sharpening trick.
envidio mucho a este tipo, no por los trabajos que hace sino por las herramientas que tiene!
Seen it before and watched it again... nice work.
Beautiful craftsmanship
Simple and crisp. Beautiful work as always
I miss this kind of videos so much, they are awesome!
Dude that burrito looked So good, And the way the knife sliced through it. Job well done haha
The most satisfying moment when it slice through the burrito...smooth & clean~~~
Good to see the cartridge respirator... A lot of guys don't use them (or even a dust mask for that matter). Leading by example!
I always enjoy watching a Diresta project!
Absolutely Stunning !!!! Your an amazing craftsman !!! Beautiful Knife I would love to be able to buy that .
You forgot to put your name.
Luan Oliveira lol
Luan Oliveira Jimi
Luan Oliveira yeah
Nope 0:56
Oren Tropen in the clamp?
I don't see why people moan about old videos, Jimmy's videos are timeless.
I learn something new every time, thanks Jimmy.
I love the practicality of your approaches. Here I was thinking about how to make consistent degree for the edge through all kinds of complicated contraptions and all you did was use a simple piece of wood.
Que clase de hierro es
This looks very familiar, but I'm happy to revisit it.
Always enjoy seeing the way you use the bandsaw. You're like the bandsaw sensei.
Awesome build! Great post!
what about a follow up when you post old videos? I'm curious to see how that knife is holding up today and your thoughts on the design of it after putting it to use. Maybe address it in the podcast? One sentence would be enough.
Rock Automatik I bet that most of Jimmys stuff is still functional.
Max Maker je asked how functional it was
That burrito I wanna grab it through the screen andeat it all day long
That slice on the burrito was quite satisfying.
I thought, for sure, that burrito would open up to "DIRESTA" made with beans and rice inside! :-)
I loved the look of the square bolts you temporary used to pin the knife together! Could you make a video using square bolts in a similar way? I love the badazz look of the square bolts, in the video I was wishing you would keep it that way. Lol. Love the build as always, Jimmy!
Das was du tust sieht sehr professionell aus bitte mach weiter so tolle Unterhaltung
What a beautiful work!
oldie but goodie!
Que faca linda! Parabéns por mais esse belíssimo trabalho, Jimmy.
your knife/weapon/tool builds are the bomb Jimmy. Keep it up!!!
i just came to see a burrito being cut, wasn't disappointed
Ya almost lost me on this build until there was food!lol Great job, thanks for sharing!
One of my favourites. Looks more like a murder weapon prop though.
Oh, one more thing - I'm amused by the number of comments about the burrito - _and that most of them missed what a nice test of the sharpness it actually was_ . Always liked the 'ripe-tomato-without-holding-it' test, but this was new and clever. For you folks at home: look at how perfectly cross-sectioned the beans and grains of rice are, and without anything being disturbed during the cut. It's actually a pretty impressive slice. (Now that I think about it, an even more impressive test would be a _second_ slice a centimeter or two away, without the thing squishing.....:-)
plot twist he has to make a new knife each time he wants to eat a burrito.
I have never done this and I have been learning from you, Thanks for this video
I finished watching Hammer Time and Trash to Cash series. The most enjoyable time .
Forget the burrito, slice up some sopressata salami and cheese. Love the knife.
Excellent work. You should make your own line of butcher and chef knives.
Crazy to think how many times this man has been asked "damn thats nice where'd you get?"
I remember this one. Awesome.
Es muy bueno su trabajo da gusto verle trabajar las herramientas 👍👍👍
i dunno if jimmy still visit this video to read our comment, but want to let him know that the way he made those knife, machete or any other tools. it seems like a fake or camera trick. if theres a perfect description of almost Perfect, Jimmy work is like 99% perfection. too good, too talented.
...and the piece de resistance,,the cutting of the "jimmychanga" at the end.
Love the simple handle. Always nice work. 🤙🏼
Your skills just surpass any expectations imaginable I mean look at that beautiful hand made burrito!
You got mad skills Jimmy.
*sees bald spots on DiResta's arms*
- Have you been making knives again?
Yea, yea, great knife. I want to see a video on that great looking burrito.

Ugh. Life dreams are getting a diresta knife (or set :) )
You're a F***** Ninja Mr. DiResta! Love your videos!
This should be a great slasher beginning scene. Great job Jims.
The last 5 seconds are the best
This guy is a master craftsman
Worth the second watch. 👍🏼
I love your channel dude.
Went through that burrito like a sharp knife through a burrito.
Off camera: "Hey Jimmy, I need to cut this Freebird in half but we don't have a knife.." Jimmy: "Hold my beer..."
I'm from Saudi Arabia and most observers of your workers and continued my monster
الله عليييك يا غامدي
I can't understand what anybody in this is trying to say. Lol.
Nothing short of EPIC.
nunca tinha visto tanto talento assim, pelo menos não na minha cidade. Parabéns pelo seu ofício e pelos vídeos! Quem me dera ter uma de suas facas, machado, baú, martelo, a cama ou qualquer um dos vários itens que já fez.
+jimmydiresta Translating his comment (it's my mother tongue as well):
I've never seen such talent like this, at least not where I live. Congratulations for your craftsmanship and your videos! How much I wish I could have one of your knives, axe, chest, hammer, bed or any of the many items you've already made.
I decided to translate this comment because it also reflects my opinion on your work and I felt it to be only fair to let you know what he (and I) were thinking. Have a nice day
Now that's a 1000 degree knife
i was going to make the joke but i knew someone else would so i decided to scroll down just a little before making my decision. I was right XD
It's closer to two thousand degrees. :I
Bladsmith doesn't matter
wow so rude
Bladsmith if it was closer to two thousand degrees it would have melted
COMPLIMENTI SEI MOLTO BRAVO A FARE I COLTELLI, CIAO DA ITALIA!
It's suprising that Jimmy Diresta still got hair on his arms.
wow very cool project!
Mind if I ask where you bought the steel?
oldie but Goldie
You forgot to add the "1000 degree red hot glowing knife" into the title I see. That would've increased the views by 100%!
Holy shot jimmy you brilliant son of a. I never would have thought to use a piece of wood like that to sharpen the edge of a knife. You sir are a genius
Please make a video showing how the knife sharpening is done
you the man Jimmy! Awesome video!
wonderful work you are creative
that sholders on hand never ending)))
That looks amazing! The knife looks cool too
What you're able to do without jigs is amazing.
I have recently gotten into sharpening knives and pro tips on getting that edge razor sharp as you have
I just skipped to the end to watch the burrito get cut. that looks like a good burrito.
Burrito! Nice work Jimmy.
hi jimmy, great job, thanks daniel
This is very beautiful
Liked for the burrito scene alone.
this is the blade of the great chipotle slicer
Kid: Dad! I don't want to make my homework, it's boring..
Dad: Let me see * 10:09 *
Dad: Here u go!
Best shaved arms in the business
Impressive! Thanks.
I watched the entire video just for that burrito slice
You sir a e a modern day master
awesome video , you are the master maker . level 100 .
Nicely done. (I'm a professional chef's knifemaker.) While I do like long (10"/240-250mm) chefs' myself - and like your french/gyuto 'spear' push-slicer profile vs. a german rock-chop belly - *I'm curious as to why you'd use 5/32" (.156). At that length, that's a heckuva hefty piece of steel to wield for very long. Seems like the trend is all towards light/hard/agile gyuto-styles now - I use mostly .110 for 240mm's and .094 for 210s, with a lot of taper, full-flat-grind, and harden up to 60-61HRC. (To be fair, I'd been putting brass bolsters on, but am bagging that - with the lighter blades I don't really need the brass for balance, and like the look of water buffalo horn or ebony better anyhow. Plus it's less hassle. :-)
I watched it there and I watch it here. :D
I love your videos diresta, but a big no no is polishing the knife after the quench, before the temper. You need to go straight from the quench, quick wipe with a cloth, into the oven. The knife is under such immense stress in its un-tempered state that it can form cracks simply by sitting on a table in touched. Trust me I cracked a bunch of knives thinking I just didn't notice the cracks after the quench. Other than that, great video
