My dog ran into his yard once. He came back with "Diresta" painted on him.
Bert Brainard not your dog anymore...
Your videos are very easy to fall asleep to. I mean this is the most sincere way possible, this is a huge compliment.
lol...I always search out a professor....or dare I say a sermon....his videos just give me tool envy
Gotta agree - there's something very calming / relaxing about the whole process being sped up to the point where you're barely hearing the loud thunder and lightning the tools would produce on their own in real time. I've fallen asleep many times watching the latest video because even though I was tired, I wanted to see the video, and after some time into the video, the whole process is so relaxing that it just let the sleep take over.
Happened to me just some minutes ago. Needed to rewind to see how it ended. Damn. Really need to go to bed now!
ASMR you folks are already on CZcams look it up
I actually took a nap today because I was watching his videos haha. I love watching them but yes they're very easy to fall asleep to lol.
Omg that high speed cough I'm dying!
Me too ahah lol
I'm wondering who even coughed XD
I'm wondering who even coughed XD
It sounds like a cat, for a moment I wondered if my cat was choking

So cute!
+jimmydiresta I love how dedicated you are to restoring and repairing old or rusted tools and makes me happy to see them in good hands
I am so glad you showed taking off rust with vinegar.
My grandmother refinished furniture, and it was how she cleaned the brass all the time.
I loved this...and can't really explain why. I think because those tools have soul. Great vid brother!
Thank you sir!
Those scissors especially have a LOT of soul! You can get tailor's bench shears made today, but I don't think they're made in the US any more, or with inlaid forge welded steel. Last summer I did a similar restoration of four pairs of garage sale found Wiss #20 shears, and they're now my favorite go-to shears. They looked about as bad starting out, but the inner hard layer of steel cleaned up amazingly well. I can't think of much stuff made today that will survive that kind of neglect.
Ill give you $100 for your $4 dollar investment! ;)
Master Of Puppets!
Ooh yeah!
Haha, I caught that too! Master! Master!
Creeping Death, too! Jimmy is a metal head.
and am I evil
Ride the lightning as well
Mr Diresta has a very good taste in music
It is very sad to abandon the robust tools of old times to rot .. Restoring them It is a pleasure to make it work again ...
Bonus points for being a city kid and knowing what fence pliers are for. I was 27 before I discovered there were special pliers for working with fence wire - right about the same time I discovered that Vice-Grips weren't actually the stock window handles on a '62 Chevy pickup...
Keep keepin' on, Brother!
hahaha thank you mark!
One of my favourite parts of watching your videos is you restoring old tools, the patina of the older tool combined with the freshly attached handles always gives such great contrast!
As always you've gone above and beyond. I love how you add brass touches to so much of your work.
I love how satisfying your restoration videos are! Thank you for keeping me sane through this year of school!
I really enjoy your videos, especially when you re-purpose old tools! I went to an auction a few weeks ago and bought a box of tools that the auctioneer said had been dug up from the ground. One is a huge J. H. Williams Superector ratchet handle. I took a length of 3" PVC and capped one end. I submerged the wrench handle into the pipe filled with white vinegar and let is set about a week. I then submerged the head in a bucket of the same. Amazing results from white vinegar! When I finish cleaning the ratchet pawls and oiling the whole thing down, it will be good as new. Thanks for the inspiration!
These are my favorite videos you do where you revamp old tools. Also love when you make and/or modify old knives. awesome stuff.
Thank you jimmydiresta
After a very long day getting sunburned and then working well into the night doing invoices it is revitalizing to watch your short films. It reminds me that I love being a tradesman.
Very nice. As someone who has used many a fence tool walking miles of electrical fence, I'd never use that one if I didn't need to. You get shocked enough and you come realize how precious rubber grips are on those handles. Great work again!
Fantastic, Sir! I was a little confused about turning wooden handles on the Bridgeport, but it totally worked. All look super!
I want to find a pair of those older scissors! I'm tired of the crappy ones they make today. Great job!
Tx brother!
Diresta and Metallica... perfect together! : D
Nice, man. Thanks for sharing!
+NJFLIPPER haha yes!!! Respect!
I recognize a vinegar fumes cough anywhere. Even if it's sped up. Lol.
WOW what a transformation, i will never look at a pile of rusty tools the same way again.
Thanks Jimmy. Recently been doing this with an old uncles tools. So satisfying to bring them back from the brink.
Sweet. The shears are my favourite. I use a pair of fencing pliers like that when repairing fences. Thanks.
Freaking awesome Jimmy, I love restoring old tools also. these came out far better then I expected. I also like the edit at the end where you show each finished product then a quick clip in action.
Fencing pliers were never to far from me growing up on the farm. . Thanks for the memories. Lol. Peace.
Awesome! I'd love to see you restore more tools in the future!
I think i could exclusively watch videos in which old tools are restored... very well done.
Awesome restoring the old tools to work again ! Great job Jimmy !
That sped up cough was adorable for some reason.
A dollar each! I LOVE IT! A couple hours of time and a few more bucks in materials and, POW! Heirloom quality tools. You are the man, Jimmy!
Love those shears..! Love finding old tools in yard sales or thrift shops..
really like how you leave some of the petina on the chisels. the pitting and marks are signs that they are tough well built tools that have been put to work. good work as always brother
That's just beautiful restoration work Jimmy! Love the dark wood handles with the brass rings. Just an beautiful combination. Great work!
The restoration was super fun, I dug the clips at the end, using each tool, very cool!!
I love these projects. It's finished project day and new tool day all at once!
Only difference between your fencing tool and the 30+ year old one in my Dad's tool box is he's got some worn in blue plasty dip coated handles. Hung a lot of barb wire and electric fencing with that tool. Great Restoration on all those tools got some real gems there!!!
Love the way those chisels cleaned up and the brass tips make those handles! Also like the ending when you showed each tool restored and using it...cool edit!
Saving pieces from certain destruction. It's a beautiful thing. You should make a mini series doing restorations of old wood furniture.
Very nice, kept the antique look. Don't think I could've resisted the urge to polish and finish them. They look better the way you did it. Excellent!
Jimmy, mind blowing how you can take any item and transform it into a beautiful working piece of art! Never fails!
Awesome work, sir! Keep telling the wife we need to hit the flea market in search of some of this rusty gold to restore and put to work in my shop. Thanks for sharing! Love how those all came out - especially the chisel and shears handles.
I made a similar handle out of mesquite for a wood chisel years ago on a very similar lathe. I used the taper attachment just because I'd never used one before. Nice work.
Well Done, once again. Most amusing part was when the vinegar made you cough about the 1:30 mark. I don't know why but I sat and listened multiple times and laughed out loud. Keep it up Jimmy. I love your videos.
Used the fencing pliers on my folks' ranch. Rode the fence line in Dad's 1942 military surplus Jeep.
All four turned out fantastic, the chisels are outright mesmerising.
awesome! I love your restoration videos. can't wait to get the tool to do some myself
That's awesome. I made very similar handles for my set of nut drivers. Great job once again sir...
That was really cool bringing those old tools back to life!
Sweet video Jimmy D... I love to see you restore the flea market finds. Watching you turn the old rusty tools into usable condition is always fun! Keep on keepin' on bro!!! Much love + respect!!!
I love that you were listening to "Master of Puppets".
Also Ride the Lightning before that.
Metallica is the best👌💪😎😈
+Mike Honaker Hey no hostility here man. Just expressing our appreciation.
Wow, just simply wow. Handles are perfection.
Great, great work
Hey Jimmy quick tip, if you add table salt to the vinegar it really kicks up the effectiveness and speed for rust removal. Awesome videos as always!
Man, I love these old tools! I wish I can find something like these :) Great work Jimmy!
This is great, Jimmy! Definitely would love to see more like this in the future!
Great use of the compound on the chisels handle taper
I've found that when you're trying to submerge especially large or chunky items it's better to cover the items in plastick bags and tape the bags so that they fit the item cloesly. If you then fill the bags with vinegar you can cover the whole surface of the item with almost no vinegar.
Nice work, good to see new life given to old tools. Love the safety crocs you're sporting too ;)
Love how you kept the patina on those chisels.
I love the restoration videos the most Jimmy.
I really love the restoring videos Jimmy:))
Nice work, Jimmy. I love the chisels with Ebony and brass ferrules. So classic.
Jimmy your videos are the best! I love the time lapses.
thanks Jimmy , just got the exact same pair of sheers in about the same shape, so there is hope for them, love your channel
Master of puppets! Yeah!
I just did this vinegar rust removal technique a few weeks back. Worked awesomely apart from areas that wouldn't de-rust. Ends up they had patches oil on them that I couldn't see due to the even coating of surface rust. It's worth doing a scrub with suitable detergent prior to the vinegar treatment. If you do this, the job is over in a matter of hours. Otherwise you are looking at days.
The other thing i found is that the cleaned surface was ultra prone to rusting almost immediately after the vinegar soak so you want to dry and prime/paint or oil asap. Alternatively, use citric acid. It's cheaper and makes a chemical bond with the iron that doesn't seem to rust so readily.
Damn, its good to see this kind of videos, i really enjoy watching them, Awesome work as always!
Stunning work as always. A pleasure to watch
Very well made video. Educational too.
Quality tools brought back for a new life.
I have a set of fence pliers exactly like that! I spent many childhood summers with grandpa on the back side of our property repairing barbed wire fence.
I would love to see you finish the rest of the tools in that box. maybe the box itself, too
Love this. My next project is a restore video. Glad to see this one.
'right tool for the job'. what was running through my head when I watched you fit the handles for the chisels.
You are a master of your craft mr Diresta, awesome job again
I love old tools :D. great job on the handles...they are beautiful
Those handles are gorgeous. Great work!
Just awesome!
Thanks again for the inspiration, motivation, and overall contagious creativity!
Awesome restorations
JIMMY GREAT TO BRING OLD TOOLS BACK TO LIFE AGAIN!!!!!!! ANOTHER GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful work
Nicely done love those old chisels.
Thx for sharing.
Regards.
I love seeing old tools either get used to new things or get refurbished.
Your production just keeps going up and up. The editing is awesome!
Brilliant. Awesome job Jimmy!
I have a 1/4" mortising chisel just like that from my grandfather. The handle has been beaten down to maybe 2 1/2" long, long before it came to me. I use it almost every day in the shop. 99% of the time, I'm just using hand pressure, but I've been meaning to make a new brass or copper ring for it for at least the last 15 years.
Nice job!! Restoring old abused tools is great.
Awesome job as allways Jimmy ! Giving new life to old worn out tools
I've gotten to the point where I can like your videos before I even watch them because i know I'll never be disappointed
Beautifully done, Jimmy!
awesome Jimmy!! I loved how you showed them in use. Completed the story. :)
I often ask myself should I bring something back to good use or just get a new one. I almost always renew and reuse. this is one of those things that let the world know where we came from and why we need to slow the heck down and enjoy something more real than the material itself. something special about restoring stuff.
I need to remember this when i next time forget my tools outside before rain. ☺ Very entertaining video.
I really like seen vids like this when u get old tools and bring them back to life u should do more like the one you did with the wooden ace and the aluminum one those are some great builds
The best and longest lasting thing I've found to loosen up fencing pliers (really all kinds of pliers) is PB Blaster, works fast and stays working for a long time. Nice job on the restorations Jimmy! -Matt
PB blaster is awesome, and it's made in Cleveland!
PB does work but soaking in brake fluid first before lube works even better!
Nope, PB blaster alone makes a good pair of pliers work better than new, no need to add additional work and time.
i love to see old things made new again, so great
Fantastic! I love those scissors.
Good taste in tools - even better taste in music. Loving the metallica at 8x!!
Very nice tools. Much better going back into the box
Awesome set of tools you finish up with. Nice work chief
i love the black/brass on silver look. if you were ever to make a line of hand tools, that'd be an awesome theme
Nice restoration bro !! Great video as always.
Damn you never disappoint Jimmy. Keep being you brother.
