Lyrics:
Come and see
I swear by now i'm playing time
I against my troubles
I'm coming slow but speeding
Do you wish a dance and while i'm
In the front
The play on time is won
But the difficulty is coming here
I will go in this way
And find my own way out
I wont tell you to stay
But i'm coming to much more
Me
All at once the ghosts come back
Reeling in you now
What if they came down crushing
Remember when i used to play for
All of the loneliness that nobody
Notice now
I'm begging slow i'm coming here
Only waiting i wanted to stay
I wanted to play
I wanted to love you
I'm only this far
And only tomorrow leads my way
I'm coming waltzing back and moving into your head
Please, i wouldnt pass this by
I would take any more than
What sort of man goes by
I will bring water
Why wont you ever be glad
It melts into wonder
I came in praying for you
Why wont you run
In the rain and play
Let the tears splash all over you

Dave Matthew’s helped me get sober in 2002. I was in a rehab & 1 of the patients let me listen to his head set, his music calmed my soul. Been sober since 2002. Thank you Dave .
Good for you, man! Stay sober! I lost my son to alcoholism. DMB was what we listened to through his teen years. I still listen to them. Their music brings back lots of memories.
YOU HELPED YOU GET SOBER KEEP ON KEEPING ON , THERE IS A THING WITH MUSIC IT SOOTHES THE SOUL I GET WHAT YOUR SAYING

100%, agree...OMG and that smile...holy crap, knocks me over with that smile!
May 2024. On the porch, thunder in the distance, vodka, weed. LIFE IS GOOD FRIENDS ❤
The was Carter just sits in that groove, like it’s’ easy peasy smiling…. I swear he’s one of the best to ever do it!!!
This performance shoujld be called, "Rest in peace, LeRoi. I got this. Love, Jeff."
This is an absolute masterclass in live performance. Doesn't get any better than that.
Agreed. Pure dominance. And the way they smile during all of it, it’s like “man I can’t believe I’m involved in this.”
Thank You Dave and DMB for this song ….I come back so many time’s to hear! !!!!!
Or…..if DMB were to play Red Rocks ……..
Play Red Rocks again !!!!!!
Just wow. Sax and drum break. Its what music is supposed to be.
It's wild how incredibly underrated Carter is, he's almost never mentioned in those "great drummer" conversations... he's an absolute monster
I said that to someone I know and he rolled his eyes back. Like ya OK. I’m not friends with him anymore ha.
He is also the happiest drummer I've ever seen.
Yeah I’m glad he is known more now. I’ve always loved his killer smile and I wonder what gum he chews on stage and how many pieces he goes through….
One of the best in the world.
He's known widely as one of the greatest rock drummers of all time and one of the greatest of any generation alive on the planet. It's automatic for nearly every musician to name him as important and great and unique and important and amazing live and on record when the topic of influential drummers comes up. Also, he's really young here, and what I said has been true for at least as long as this recording is old.
DMB is in their own category and on another level. Proof in literally that no other band has come along or will ever come along to challenge their sound and uniqueness and talent. It like the 6 time Championship Chicago Bulls dream team of musicians came together.
Only DMB can turn an original 3 minute something song into a 20 minute Masterpiece!
Is it normal to listen to this every single day?
its recommended
Yes. First thing in the morning and again about 4:20 pm
If it were a normal band, then no it's not normal. But because of the talent and exquisite nuances from EVERY MEMBER of Dave Matthews Band, YES.
Why? Because, YES!
Everyday.
ME TOO
This has to be the best 20 mins of music I have ever heard from Dave Matthews band. Just awesome!!!!
My son, who is 1.5yrs old, is completely captivated by this performance. It's his favorite. He'd watch this as eagerly as he watches his favorite cartoon.
This song in many versions has always grounded me. While in the military it help me unplug from the chaos, death and destruction, it accompanied my cries at rock-bottom, it has brought peace to me in recovery. Thank you DMB for contributing a constant when I needed.
::: Thank you, Omar. Music helps to heal the ungodly horrors of this world.
Omar, I can feel you. Dave got me through my first deployment back in 2003. He's been my rock every since. Whenever I need to get out of my head I just put DMV on and turn it up and I'm good.
Thank you Omar!
@@ronaldjohnson7054 Thank you Ronald!
Thanks for your service Omar. There are people out there that appreciate you more than you know.
I play drums and sax...loved and miss Le Roi, but this dude was touched by God on this night...people I'd love to meet before I die are almost all in this band
...thanks dudes...rock on
I love how Dave is always going in the background and let his boys playing. He really loves his band!
congratulations getting sober is no easy feat keep up the good work I work as a CNA and I work part time in a sobering center anyways good for you.
Annabelle
he is really a very clever man. He knows how to take out all the talent from his band
He's thinking to himself how the hell did I create this juggernaut?
Be a tifuil. 😊
I am having a bad day . My son in stage 4 "C", Mdaughter had am amputation, hubby amputation also, I am the driver that taks them to appointments, today everything was going against me, I knew when tears started flowing I needed some me time, happened upon this OMG , so blessed to be able to chill with this. Ty
Hang in there Kathleen. Hugs!
Hang in there 💛
Keep that head up
God Bless you honey 🤩 trust
God bless you and your family. You are the definition of love.
Christ! That Sax and drum battle is off the charts! Incredible musicianship.
hell ya
It was really good but then Jeff keeps going for too long. I can’t take his squawking every time he jams. Too much of the same. Roi had finesse and knew how to build a crescendo and then bring it back down. Jeff likes to stay at a frenzy for wayyy too long and it takes away from the music. Carter was working hard! Carter is a drum god!
Once Carter hit that double bass? Point and match
I couldn't agree more! I just like to add Boyd in always. He really is a must on that violin. Super sad he's no longer with DMB.
@J B @41Gecko Nah. Nothing was wrong with Jeff's solo. Can't just listen to it like it's on the radio. Gotta have high-end speakers, high-end bourbon, and a high-end cigar. 🥃 Y'all listening to it wrong!
He has inspired me Not to be any part of suicide period . He has helped me stay alive ...is such a good place to be. . . Really has done me wonders "simply put friends 😅 Bless all musicians ! They too are like Doctors aren't they. .😊
I don't think Carter could believe what he was listening to as he played one of the greatest sets in music history, by the look on his face.
There are literally hundreds of live versions of this song. Think I just found my new favorite.
Dave Mathews flew his band to Blacksburg after the VT massacre. He offered so much healing with his care and love.
My community benefitted so much.
Thank you, for creating beautiful music.
The way Dave and Stef Looked at Each other In the Beginning, Says It All .........
Proof DMB is one of the greatest live bands ever to grace the planet Earth.
I flew from Spain to see this concert...and was lucky enough to see it...amazing. A lifetime experience :)
Hace unos años, sobre el 16 tocaron esta canción en el Palacio de Deportes AKA Wizink y es los mejores minutos de música en directo que he visto nunca. Extraordinario es poco.
One of the most intoxicating song's ever written.
This song reminds me of a Tuesday, years ago, when I got up and eat 5 hard boiled eggs. Feeling full, I went for a walk. Trying to beat a previous record, I chose a ten mile trail near my house. No don't get me wrong, I've walked mire than 10 miles in my life. But ten all at once would be a record/personal best. Walking relaxes me and self improvement is always a plus. Setting goals and achieving them is one of life's simple pleasures. It really can be anything; make your bed for a week, go off soda for a month, stop cursing for a day, say hello to anyone you meet for 3 days, eat no red meat for a month, make ten people smile today...you get my point. Anyway I digress....where was I...oh ya, my walk. Boy ten miles in one stretch! Started off great then the song ended and I turned around. Fuck it I will try tomorrow!
That is truly one of the best live performances ever seen on CZcams
Meh 🫤, I thought one of the ‘best’ I’ve ever seen performed live on YT, or anywhere else, was the duet with Dave (and Band), along with Warren Haynes in several 👏 ‘covers’ of Neil Young’s Cortez the Killer. There were a total of 3 around the same time - @ MSG, Central Park, and a 3rd venue. I’m going on 70, and having listened to a lot of DMB over the years, Dave’s voice (not 🎸) seems to be rather inconsistent, depending on what ‘pitch’ he’s in (personally I think he’s 👍 better singing in a deeper tone, and not a higher, almost ‘falsetto’ one).
This is what humanity should show to one another!! The rhythmic vibbrations of the greatest expressions of love for all ...Dave and Band are one....Why I waited a lifetime...to find!!😊
There's music coming from everywhere and that drummer keeping it all together. That whole band had their sh!t completely together!!!
The best version of #41 ever! Unbelievable
It's really quite simple. For a solid decade they were the best live band in the entire world. Sorry if you missed out.
Good God. First time I have seen this. Wow. Bravo x a million!!!!
Tim Reynolds is an absolute rock god! Why does he never make the list of best guitar players of all time? Most underrated guitar player in my book. And I know he plays way more than just guitar. He can do anything. I literally just wept during his solo.
Does the audience fully appreciate the masterpiece that this performance was???
Ohhh they do! That's why people go to see them live! They are incredible!
is it normal to listen to this every single day?
I've listened to this version at least 100 times over the years and am still amazed every time. Absolutely stellar!
THIS IS A CLEAR EXAMPLE OF HOW MUSICIANS CAN MAKE LOVE ON THE STAGE….. it has all the phases of that !!!! 😍😍😍😍
How many times must a song be so beautiful?
I'm going to show #205, sometimes I feel like the crowd is gone. So amazing to hear the stories about recover and happiness though this song. Personally this band took the gun out of my mouth, that was 20+years ago but I'm so happy to hear similar stories
I was ready for the bridge this winter, then I heard 1995 Lie in our Graves and DMB is my happy place now. 8/07/23 8:00 pm
Some will not understand this. Grab a Whiskey, sit back....listen with your mind and EARS.....this is improv at its best. And on top of that.....Dave gives you room to solo!!! C'mon!!!!!
Best band in the Galaxy!!!! You heard it here!!
10:17 Dave just standing there like "holy crap I have the best band ever"
Lol lol,, you know I thought the exact same thing when I saw him standing over there looking at them he's probably thinking shit I got the best band ever
I'm in my '60's. DMB is, to me, and quite honestly, the BEST frigging music there is!
The musical talent, with the instrumentation, is unbelievable! Thrown in the lyrics, it gets deep.
I can relate!! I listen to CZcams every night. I lost my beloved husband in July to Covid
@@juliefisher7017 I'm so sorry, my heart is with you. Thank God for DMB (& John Mayer!)
Incomprehensible jibberish. The Mumble Matthews Band.
This crowd witnessed magic from 9:00 to 12:00... 😊
Easily one of the greatest masterpieces of the last 25 years
I had song on heavy rotation during the mid nineties, with a tight knit group of friends that I spent every day either working together at the same job, or rock climbing and we listened DMB every day, all day for years. Now that I’m older, and we have all drifted out on our separate ways, the emotion and nostalgia that came flooding back watching this was overwhelming. I love my life and the family I have now, but I also miss the “good ole days”. The irony is that Dave lives in my neighborhood while my friends all live in states far away.
::: Lucky to be blessed, in so MANY ways! How is Dave with a BBQ?
ladies and gentleman of the court...
I give you exhibit A of what "the worlds best drummer" looks like.
RIP Neil
Warren Mixon heck yeah, Carter Beauford is the man!
Can we put him above John Bonham? I think we might can, and I saw Led in concert last time together in 76. Saxophone man is the best. He's blowing my mind!
@@RJs_CC Neil was alive when this concert was performed. So what's your point?
Tenatu so was Ginger Baker!
Drummer man is on beat every single time. His personality seems to bring a contagious like joy from inside out🎉
If you ever get to see DMB live don't miss it, it is a musical journey!
no matter the genre, we are extremely blessed to have music. if only for a moment, we can live in peace.
He's gotta be the happiest drummer I've ever see...and that sax is badass
I remember that I met DMB because my father bought back in 2009, a dvd of Live 8 in where DMB and many others took part. I remember that sometimes what made me happy was simply, leaving school on a friday afternoon, coming home, entering my room and putting on that Live 8 DVD, something so simple...of course my favorite part at that time was the part when DMB performed. I don't live in the United States, so seeing that DVD with great bands playing was like something very cool for me ( I was like 13-14 years old) and I was amazed to see them live even if it was through a DVD :) and they made me be part of that concert, even if it was for a moment. Who knows, maybe unconsciously listening to music like that was a way of dealing with the bullying I had in high school. But now I can say that, that stage is now behind me, and I feel lucky that DMB and many other artists has influenced me from a very young age in m music taste, and all thanks to dad and mom's DVDs :)
God bless
One of the best jam sessions like ever, thank you Dave😁
I believe this may be the best version of this song I've ever heard. I'm constantly astounded at the level of musicianship. Off the charts! Stefan is truly an under rated marvel on the bass. He's so tight with Carter yet plays so many tasty licks throughout.
41 from listener supported was, is, and always be the best version off all time, this one is good, but 20 mins is too much, the one from listener supported are 10 mins of pure joy. this one as a bit of dead and boring moments. but its just my opinion.
@@danielnobremartins1497 you are so correct. I am seeing DMB this summer, and hopefully I am not disappointed.
Don’t be hatin bro. The fook. Jeffery and Beauford are killin shit.. hands down my favorite version of this song. Second is with The Flecktones. A lot of shining on this one. -Kevin Bacon
Daniel Nobre Martins You know what’s dead and boring? A fukn jughead tryna be a critic!
czcams.com/video/S828_f0-dQI/video.html
Watching that sax player and drummer is like looking at a golden rose made of diamonds.
The guitar player is really good too. I got this song called number 4 I bet you guys could do something really special with it.
This is my first time really listening to Dave Matthew's Band. Absolutely Incredible!
I didn’t think #41 could get any better but then I was proved wrong and they made it last over 20 minutes
Someone made the comment about Dave placing himself in the background while he allows all these wonderful musicians to do what they do. Dave is talented in so many ways, yet he does lay back and promotes his band's talents. I love to see and hear so many talented musicians having fun and doing what they do best. DMB took music to a new level. I grew up on jazz and needed no affirmation, but Dave and his band made jazz popular, enjoyable and listenable. Is that a word? Who cares?
Holy shit! This is the illusive version of this song, of which I haven't been able to find the video for for several years! This is by far the best version and I'm tearing up that I've finally found it.
If I'm not mistaken, this is the Bristol show, which appears on the Europe '09 deluxe edition DVD. The Lucca, Italy show, which is the audio component to said album, is way better audibly. But, alas, no official form of video.
best news ive heard in a year
Incredible Sax. He went straight mental. Amazing work by all.
How lucky are we? To forever have this greatest live performance of one of DMB’s best songs.
I love how carter’s just blowing bubbles with his gum as if he’s just sitting there and NOT doing amazing shit on the drums.
😻👊🍻🐈🔥🔥🔥
Pete Gall he's always so chill
Carter's the man!
Dude exactly. Always smiling too.
Yep. I cant even. I love him like you.
Coffin’s solo is the most amazing things I’ve ever heard in my life. He absolutely shredded it……
THIS BAND... THIS BAND...love you boys...
I accidentally turned on this music. What a wonderful surprise for my ears. L O V E
If there's anything sexier than this jam, it's Carter's smile. Dude gets me every time. He always looks so happy and grateful.
Amy yes gets me too and I’m a male person. Haha
you can see the joy passing from person to person in the band, it's so contagious too, just tons of uplifted happy people in the same place ~♥♫
Those dimples
❤
No human being enjoys his job more than Carter Beauford.
SO..BUTTERY..SMOOTH!! There is no drummer like Carter. Always back there, wearing his gloves, chewing on gum, with a smile on his face. He’s been among my greatest influences on drums for over 20 years
Holy moly, I just had a spiritual experience
Best instrumental trio ever performed in human history. LITERALLY SHOW ME BETTER. C H E M I S T R Y ! ! !
Love of music and musicianship. Cheers mate
Totalmente de acuerdo
rush
A seven person trio?
1997.....Yall wouldnt understand. But dang. It was something
#41 has always been my favorite song by DMB and I loose my shit when I hear it love. It’s always a great jam session to rock out to. Who would thumbs down this video? This song was well done from start to finish!! GEAH GEAH!!!
Tuck31 so true. Only a bonehead would hate this jam. I listen to it nearly everyday.
Nothin' more enjoyable than when the band gets in Tha POCKET!!!
And also when Carter is destroying the set!!!!
I seen a DMB in a long time. Thank u. I just keep watching. 💯 lol. Love it when the Sax guy has a little smirk 😏 having fun. And Drummer say can't hear ya, then nodded like ok ok bring it son!! Can't get any better than that. There having a great time and moment in life. Even Dave stood back and smiled.
That sax & drums solo! It gives me tears, smile and goosebumps at the same time. :)
You can almost see coffin being touched by the hands of god in this solo
@@reymaldonado1428 wow! Thought the same thing! Its like devine intervention!
::: 2022, I just posted the same feelings! Timeless treasure!
These guys just don’t play the song. They jam !! They Improvise and just feel the music ! Love it
If only I could give this video another like every time I watch it
Seriously, that's one of the coolest conversations in music I have ever seen. You could fall in love with the drummers soul immediately...for starters.
WHAT A PHENOMENAL PERFORMANCE!!!!! I just had the most intense emotional experience from watching this video. (I’m at work surrounded by people) Goosebumps, hair standing up on the back of my neck, and overwhelmed by emotion..to the point where I’m crying. Never expected this to happen. Wowww! Beautiful music penetrating ones soul! A performance for the record books.
Me too bro! Me too!
I so understand you. It was always my dream to listen to #41 live on a concert and I was blessd to experience it twice :) dreams do come true!
This also happens to mea 👊🍻🐈🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
You are so fortunate. Music does not affect everyone like this. It is sad. I wish it would. It's such an amazing feeling/experience.
Not all music does it for me. I have come up with the term *"Wanderift"* music. *Wanderift* music takes you here and there and around a little bit then brings you back emotionally. Sometimes fast sometimes slow, but always wandering and drifting.
The artists that make this music are Virtuoso. I use this word in a slightly different meaning than the definition. They are virtuoso in composition more than technique. They may also have outstanding technique as well. I have seen people with amazing technique, yet they could not put together wanderift music.
This summer I will see DMB.
Billy Wright billy Wright you said it right. Moved my insides. I go on a roller coaster ride with this holy shit
EVERY member of the Dave Matthews band is incredible. What an incredibly talented group of musicians! Wow!
If you have a bad day, just look at Carter' smile playing drums and everything is getting better 🙂
God Love Carter so much!!!! that smile! those chops!!!!!!!
It might be difficult to believe..but I've never heard their music and I am an 80s kid! I heard the name, but not the music. Now I am discovering it and I love it! And this particular jamming is sick! Well, lucky me!
Welcome! They’re pretty special. ✌️
@@chriskaprys DMB is special! Not a lot a of bands can match their energy and musicianship. Pink Floyd, Rush, Porcupine Tree, Opeth, and a few others can.
Why do so many people have no idea who they are???
Can’t stop listening... 21 minutes feel like only three.... absolutely mesmerising. I was lucky enough to see DMB twice in 2002/03 ( I was a Dave head, club, books everything ..) . I don’t exaggerate when I say that Live at Luther College saved my life in my college years in Fargo, North Dakota ... that CD.. I must have played it thousands of times. Especially at night in the painting studio....All the others too, Crash, Under The Tables and Dreaming ...LISTENER SUPPORTED... until the last ones in 2002.... but Live at Luther.. my God my life is marked by that album. Thank you Dave and DMB!!! Forever grateful to have known your music, thank you for soothing my soul. I couldn’t imagine my life without your music, it made me - and it - more tender.
Makes me think of everyone i have ever loved at once whether they are here or gone or just not communicative.
I was there. A group of dudes next to me kept talking through the whole thing. It was amazing.
Two oft the things that bring me the most joy to watch are people playing music together, and people dancing. I love the drummer's facial expressions so much.
Somewhere, Leroi is smiling every time Jeff plays the solo.
And Tim is crapping himself having to follow that! 😂
I will never stop listening to.this!!!
I was there - what an amazing experience!!!! Unmatched!
Wow. Been listening to #41 for 20+yrs, one of the very best live ones!!?
same here
I think so. I saw them in 97 for the first time smh...👊🍻🐈🔥🔥🔥
same here 😆😆
I couldnt sleep. Now i really cant sleep! Goose bumps. Tears. Smiling ear to ear. I dont have any other words than thank you DMB. Such an incredible piece. Just pure genius.
Whoever gave this a thumbs down has deep deep life issues they need to work out
God DAMN, the lungs on that sax player. Whooh!
I've been listening to this song since 1996 and will never get tired of it!
It's the perfect song. Fits any mood, can express any emotion.
I graduated high school in 96 from Charlottesville Va! Greatest time of my life!
Same ❤
Carter just exhale the energy of the whole band... I watched them live in 2019 and damn, it's pure joy and excitement. He is there, always smiling, loving what he's doing.
All of his music can be defined through all generations as his
Magnum Opus'
Maybe I'm missing something but I can't believe this hasn't been used in a movie.
Everytime i hear this song I am transported back to the first time I heard it live...same emotions, same goosebumps...the shows are just so epic
EVERYTIME!!!! U said it perfectly
❤ I can't wait to see them live
So many bands just try to blow through their setlist. DMB takes their music to another level live
Time constraints.
Carter & Jeff...aaaahhhh!!!!! Unfriggenbelievable! I can't get enough!
Imagine walking outside of this bar and hear this?! Drinks on me!!
