Choosing a monitor feels like the most obnoxious part of making a station feel complete.
yea, fps for GPUs is so much simpler. Single graph over time. Everyone can compare and analyze.
@John Doe I have a better one, choose something you can afford that is also a considerable improvement over what you have right now, not everyone enjoys big displays while gaming.
@John Doe I envy you if you can't feel the input lag that comes with most tvs and even bad monitors. When 75 fps starts to feel like a slideshow, you'll understand.
John Doe TVs input lag is night and day.
@John Doe This is no joke though, I have a really fancy-pancy Samsung q9fn and its seen as the second best TV for gaming, but I cant stand the blur, so I much rather play on my 1440p 165hz monitor that cost me 1/10th of the price from the tv. So yeah, its not a joke and it bummed me out
They almost managed to create a windows activation key with that monitor naming lol
Underrated comment bro lol !
Hahahahaha! Nice one.
nice one bro, you got me laugh hahaha.
This monitor would make a great password
🤣🤣🤣
Who could remember it though LoL

Dude, the insane amount of detail that you put into these monitor reviews, including emphasizing obvious challengers in its price categories, is incredible. Thank you for the time, consideration, and care you put into these reviews and for the improvements/tweaks you have made to your process over time. You're the man. Thanks T-bone
Best monitor reviews on youtube ;)
Couldn't agree more, they are my go to for monitors, period, such a great in depth but also very clear and well explained analysis every time. To be honest this channel does that with everything that they do, definitely high on the list of hardware review channels I know I can trust - they are transparent with their process and findings, and always present and dissect it all in a balanced way, so I always come away with a sense that I've not just seen a review of a piece of hardware, monitor, GPU or whatever, but that I've been able to get a good idea of where it sits in the product line, pro's and con's, without bias. Exactly what you want in a review.
100% agree. you the best reviewer on CZcams.Thank you so much for giving us the confidence to choose the right product.
Agreed. The absolute best reviews :)

Should be called VX2758-KB-MHD so I can swap the final letters to VX2758-MKBHD to make fun of Marques... yeah I'll see myself out
lmao
That would be the Marques special edition.
Love the inclusion of aussie pricing fellas. Even though nearly all of your audience isn’t australian, it would be great to see more local pricing in future in your videos (even as a subtitle) for your local fans.
Silvan Bluett just Google the product Name in your region :)
That would be way to much work
If you’re in Australia get the Medion Erazer PLS 27inch 1440p 144hz monitor from Aldi for $380 AUD, I have one and it’s amazing value for money and also free sync and g sync compatible.
Lennart Mook You think I don’t already do that? I’m simply giving my appreciation that they included local pricing in their video
Silvan Bluett i think your demand for more local prices in their videos is asking to much.
Exactly as my comment stated, so please dont Read things into it
" it would be great to see more local prices in future Videos"
Lennart Mook given that Steve and Tim are Australian, a quick aside as to Australian pricing for their local supporters (self includes) doesn’t sound unreasonable to me, especially when this product is available to us fairly easily when it’s in stock
Dear Tim, I have been watching tons of Gaming Monitor Reviews the past 3 days, and i have finally settled for the LG 27GL850. - Tanks for helping me out, you're doing a gret job! :o)
Tim: We need to come up with a name for our new monitor!
Cat: *walks on keyboard and lays down* VX2758-2KP-MHD appears on screen
Tim: "Perfect! Once again Sprinkles comes up with the perfect name!"
That is a brilliant review mate, thanks! So great to have an Aussie review go into such detail.
So I didn’t understand 90% of what he said but it sounds good
Ok i thought I was the only one😂
same, sounds good as his editing is amazing
Advanced 120hz mode performance is quite impressive at this price. I would forgo the extra potential 24 fps for this superior performance. Another excellent review, Tim. Happy new year!
Yeah, its pretty hard to run 1440p All high/Ultra on 144hz. So if you could run that, you probably could afford a more expensive monitor lol.
120Hz is better for video watching as well, as 120Hz is the common denominator for judder free interpolation of sources from any standard. A/V Club unite! Separately. In your own studios.
Apologies but i'm fairly new at this, what is the advanced/ultra fast etc mode? is that the screen hardware setting or a software setting from the graphics card?
@@kenectd Screen "hardware" setting yeah, in OSD. It is called overdrive, you can see here what it does : www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/viewsonic/vx2758-2kp-mhd ("Motion Blur" part)
@@Marr033 Sorry, I am new as well. I can't understand overshoot/undershoot errors. What they are mean ?
Super happy that you guys are going for roughly a monitor review per week in 2020. As far as I'm concerned your Monitor reviews are the best ones on youtube!
Thank you for these gaming monitor reviews! They are very useful since it's hard to chose them.
Sony sees product name : write that down! Write that down!
Thank you for the detailed review and the Australian pricing info. The price on the 27GL850 always had me looking to the VA options so this is good to see. I haven't used a VA for years and years so I do wonder how modern ones handle dark scenes and motion these days. It's a shame about the lack of a built in sRGB colour mode but I suppose leasing a calibration tool and getting a screen-sRGB profile isn't too hard.
Was expecting some testing for the backlight strobing. Great review otherwise, appreciated the response time testing.
Finally a monitor that is perfect for my setup. Have been looking for one over months now
Thanks got this on Black Friday. Good to know where it stacks up.
I was literally just browsing your channel for best IPS gaming monitors
Excellent review, thanks. Looking forward to your review of ASUS TUF VG27AQ and the AOC 24G2U.
Just got this one for Christmas, dont regret getting it. Good review :)
excellent and clear video thanks!
I’ll be happy when I buy my second monitor because I know Tim will point me in the right direction!
Nice vid, once I start building my PC I'll buy this monitor from your link ,
Thank you so much for your passion and hard work
I find your video relaxing during this pandemic.
Your analysis was very helpful for me, and it explained some discrepancies with my experiences - it also contains the small-print that for optimal experience you basically HAVE to get 144 frames... But it's even helpful in my other monitor without freesync, so I can adjust refresh rate for minimal overshoot. Good testing method.
Basicly what the numbers from 6:45 to 7:19 tells us is, that if you run at ultrafast overdrive it's better to disable freesync to not get worse overshoot while playing at any framerate under 144?
Man, monitor reviews are complicated! Good job being thorough.
Excellent reviews, all important benchmarks included. Very well done, left you a sub!
Just finished watching a few of your monitor reviews and I cannot stress enough how helpful they are. Every video on this channel is quality but monitor reviews with this detail are basically non existent. Thanks for the effort and detail you fellas put in. Even if you guys are upside down on the bottom of the earth you’re still allright with me.
You havent seen confusing product names until you've tried to buy an Ibanez guitar
Intel. Let's make our CPU naming scheme more complicated
Monitor manufacturers. Hold my beer
Have you ever looked in Makitas (drill company) nomenclature?
Try finding an wireless drill with the right specs and despaire.
Do you play guitar, you gotta check out Ibanez' naming scheme. I don't think they have a naming scheme.
actually Intel kept it very simple. after 9 comes 10 remember.
This is the AMD 4800U, and this is the Intel 11 gen... platform.
Already the best monitor review tech channel on the internet in 2020!
Well done!
I ve got a viewsonic 3418 that was 34" IPS 75hz in specs for a couple of week. Love it so much and nothing to complain.
Really detailed and informative video good job!!
however i was wondering if u have any ideas if the Viewsonic VX2758-PC-MH is any good?
With the better overall response/overshoot charts of the Advanced mode at 120 Hz, it seems like a good "set and forget" option is to cap the refresh rate at 120 Hz instead of 144 Hz and use the aforementioned Advanced overdrive mode. You'll still get the benefit of low framerate compensation when using adaptive sync (48 - 120 Hz instead of the full 48 - 144 Hz), with the improved overshoot and no noticeable difference to response times.
I bought 2 of these Monitors, love them so far. Glad to see such an in-depth review of them!
How ot works with u in nvidia
how have they held up?
@@boost800 Their really good! No problems to report

I got this on Christmas. Very happy with it for on $440. I was just looked at the specs and went WOW! IPS, 1MS, 27", QHD, 144Hz! I am happy with buying it now that you gave it approval!
Jaymate it’s not truly 1ms, it’s 4ms

Things I care about any monitor.
1. sRGB, ARGB, DCI-P3 accuracy.
2. Backlight bleeding.
3. Black and grey level uniformity.
4. IPS glow intensity.
5. Pixel response.
6. Refresh rate.
and price?
Thank you so much for the video. You ended my struggles. :)
This video makes me feel a lot better about my LG 27GL83A purchase. Snagged one for $320 US on Black Friday when it typically retails for $380.
What are the chances you can share the sRGB calibration specs once adjusted :)
usually on his patreon
Never gave a shit about monitor reviews until Tim started these. Now my friends think I’m some display savant , thanks Tim.

Awesome content as always. May you review the ViewSonic ELITE XG270QG as well?
Great review! Do you have any plans on reviewing the BenQ EX2780Q?
This is so hard though. It's like we need one manufacturer that comes up with a new panel technology that we can consider definitive.
thanks for the great rewiew!
waiting for the ASUS VG27AQ's one cause, atm, is the only real competitor for the lg gl850 in my opinion
why is nobody asking for this ? unreal, thats the real deal
@@juanjd40 Contrast and black uniformity are far better than on the LG ! But the color gamut isn't good enough for that price. It's not 10 bits, and the response time is AS GOOD AS the Viewsonic (only the input lag is 1 ms better). So it's definitely NOT a competitor, just look at Rtings you'll understand.
You deserve a round of applause everytime you say the model #
Please continue this series
Just wanted to add Thank you; your reviews are so through that making my decision to buy a new monitor was just, do i want curved or flat. Everything i wanted to know about the monitors on my list to buy was clearly delineated and i even learned a lot. Types of screens used in manufaturing, TN, VA, IPS, even what controls to look for when setting up my new monitor. Ive visited you channel in the past but know consider me subscribed. Again thanks keep up the good work.

I'm just gonna get this. Seems like it's a jack of all trades.
Wearing a jumper in Australia at this time of year.
would you recommend this one or the AOC Q27G2U/K?
One a week! Awesome, nice work guys.
Mind, I appreciate they show what the button does on screen so at least you can feesibly use it for navigation.
seeing the charts just makes me want the Omen X27 for gaming.
Except for contrast and black uniformity, it's a nice screen for competitive gaming.
@@Marr033 Yeah, it's not perfect but the input lag for 1440p 240hz, dear god.
why wide gamut when 99% content is srgb? how many games map colors correctly to dci-p3 monitor? no srgb clamp option so have to buy calibrator when you don't want over saturated image? fullscreen games dont use icc profiles so they will always be over saturated on this monitor?
Colorprofile keeper is a good tool to force full screen ICC. The rest of your points are pretty much spot on, since the monitor has no HDR playback support it's pretty much a useless spec unless you are a gamer/media arts student or something
Best video I've found on this video, thanks a lot.

Now we need a review for the AOC CU34GX2 please? Thank you and awesome work guys!
Would this be adequate for professional photo editing? And by "professional" I mean photography is my profession, not professional as in "pro".
can you review the 32" version
holy i just got one with three left in stock! im so happy yay lol
Thanks for the review. Would love to see the AORUS FI27Q-P from Gigabyte if you can get one.
can you start doing some reviews on the vesa certified hdr600 monitors please ? :)
@Bobzillaaaful , yeah, i would love to see Tim's opinion on phillips 326m6vjrmb or asus cg32uq, but well, one can only hope...
Hey Tim, you're definitely my go to Monitor reviewer and I like to watch almost all of your Monitor videos and would love if you were able to do more.
Now I am thinking about getting a 1440p ultrawide with "high" refresh rate (100+) with a higher pixel density so smaller is preferred, do you have a few recommendations for me to keep an eye on throughout this year?
I got the GNV34DB and was great for a few weeks but now its like gsync compatibility is not working or sonething because i get screen tearing unless i use vsync on it. I run it on vsync fast but am worried what will happen when the next xbox comes out because that is software side fix.
Im not sure if its the crappy cables that came with it so im getting new ones to see if it fixes it. I had it on dp 1.2
Alienware 34 inch ultra wide is what I have and I bought it for $580 refurbished. Best choice ever, and 120hz with g sync is almost indistinguishable from 144hz.
just got it for 246 euros on amazon. cross fingers, that it has no production errors :). i bought it, cause you said it is better than the new version and 250 euros was kind of my max budget. tx for the review. hoping to get many years of happy user experience of that thing.
Please note that the Pixio Px7 Prime, Aorus AD27QD (and its updates FI27q and FI27q-p), BenQ EX2780q and now the Viewsonic VX2758-2KP-MHD all use the same Innolux panel (Innolux M270KCJ-K7B). Differences in response time are pretty much down to vendor overdrive configuration.
I never understood why you test for contrast but then don't ever mention it in the verdict. The LG Nano IPS has tragic-tier contrast and this doesn't. Isn't that worth mentioning?
100% agree, especially at that price the consumer has the right to be very demanding on contrast AND black uniformity (which really sucks on the LG, the backlight is horrible). That's why I wouldn't buy the LG's screen, it's overpriced imo.
Comparing 800:1 contrast and 1000:1 contrast is like the pot calling the kettle black. In the grand scheme of things, you won't notice it. Most 4k TV's these days have anywhere from 4000:1 to 10000:1 native contrast with VA panels, so it's just an inherent limit of the ips technology. Even with Full Array Local dimming the best ips displays are still in the 1000's.
Just get some nice bias lighting for your PC setup if you watch a lot of movies and care a lot about black levels
@@proballa27 LG/Viewsonic difference in contrast is 300, the LG panel is at less than 750. It's noticeable !!! Just look at the 2 pictures of each monitor on Rtings.com website, you'll notice that black are more grey on the LG's one. And the issue is the PRICE, you pay more for a poor contrast & black uniformity. Now we can say the LG's monitor is overpriced.
@@Marr033 the variation in their panels could have more to do with blb being worse on the lg model than anything else. You would have to put the monitor in front of you physically and side by side to really percieve any meaningful difference in contrast.
Also think that if you lower the brightness and you are in a relatively dark room there will be less of a problem
whenever I hear ¨Low Framerate Compensation¨ I automatically assume its a good monitor. Dunno why
This one of the best monitor reviews I have seen.
How many takes was the filming to get this review done? A true hero.
No clue if you'll see this comment here - but will you be doing a video on the new updated version of this monitor the Viewsonic VX2705-2KP-MHD?
Id like to see the "no stand " option on every monitor. Many people have vesa mounts and the stands just ending up beeing a waste of ressource overall
awesome videos! would this video work with the (ViewSonic vx2768-2kp-mhd?)
The best review i've seen
Can you review the LG 27gl83-a? Seems to be a budget 27gl850
As far as i know, it's the same screen except it has a smaller color gamut.
@@zondaboy6493 It has HDR and response time is better than ViewSonics'one. But contrast and black uniformity are weak...
Also it's NOT a budget in Europe (480€...). But at the same price as the ViewSonic, it's a great deal in US.

Will you and Steve look at the new Dell high refresh rate monitors? The S2419HGF or S2719DGF.
M Steyn the S2719DGF is not remotely new. I’ve had one in my desk for at least a year and it wasn’t even new then. It’s the same panel as the Gsync variant that dell has had out for years just without gsync. The other monitor you listed is also almost a year and a half old. So yea...
Nice review, as per usual. Really good stuff.
Will you treat us with a review of Asus' VG27AQ as well? That model is one of the first combining VRR with black frame insertion technology. Also, it seems to have similar overdrive "issues" as explained in this video right here :)
i would love those kind of testing on the Asus TUF VG27AQ, i just ordered one and wanna see how it holds up compared to the LG one and Pixio/Viewsonic
Still waiting on new CRTs for best image quality and response time, sadly I will have to wait forever. :/
I have some bad news about this monitor. I have just started to experience a flickering issue with this display.
There are two solutions that I have found.
1: Go into the custom resolutions settings and lower the refresh rate of the monitor to 141hz;
2: Go into the custom resolution settings, look at the bottom of the tab at the section called "Timings", set this to manual, and decrease the "Total Pixels" by 15 pixel for both Horizontal and Vertical. This does not change the quality of the picture at all.
It appears that Viewsonic have taken this budget oriented panel and pushed it beyond its limits. Thankfully there is a fairly easy and simply fix to the issue.
Note, the refresh rate change to 141hz apparently changes the panel to 6 bit colour than 8 bit colour, so I would recommend the pixel xjange option, as it does not appear to have any adverse effect to the overall performance of the monitor.
I hope this helps, and I hope that this gets seen more so that, should others find the same issue, they can fix it without having to go through a potentially long troubleshooting session, or a longer RMA path.
I've had to set it to 120hz for it to work properly, I'll continue to troubleshoot in the coming days.
I just clicked on this video thinking... Cool... A new video, then realizing it's 2021, not 2020 anymore.. Going to take some time to get used to that :-) Good review!
Is it ironic that I get an fire safety ad before a video by an Australian CZcamsr?
Could you review new AOC 24G2U 1080p 144hz 24" IPS display? It's budget one (below 200$), so it might be appealing choice for many people
What about the Asus TUF VG27AQ ? I'm still kinda wondering if that low motion blur technology is worth it or not 🤔
