    Plouffe is a big fan of Alienware's monitors, and their new AW2723DF looks like it could be another great addition to the lineup, but do the specs live up to the actual gaming experience?

      So true. My PHILIPS has four USBs that pass through a USBC to my laptop, and I have two occupied by a webcam and a speaker. I use the other two for connecting to debugging tools for microcontrollers and usually I keep them occupied with a type-C cable for newer boards and my phone, a type-B cable for older boards and my DSLR camera. When something uses a micro-B, I would rather unplug my USB speaker and use its cable than unplug anything from the monitor because it's such a nightmare. I like how this monitor has the two USB ports down there so it's way easier to reach.

    Portrait capable stands (especially both directions) are amazing to have even if you intend to use it landscape, as:
    a) they tend to be quite sturdy, well built and can be adjusted for if the surface isn't totally flat.. and
    b) it is infinitely easier to access the plugs on the back in portrait.. No need to shove your face under the screen to try and see which plug goes where followed by stabbing blindly and hoping you get the right one

    • @BramVanroy

      The point of the video was not that vertical is not useful but that this specific monitor with high refresh is probably too expensive to use as a (secondary) vertical monitor. There are plenty other options that have less features but that are a lot cheaper and might be a better bang for buck as a vertical monitor.

  • @lucun_

    I have the older AW2721D, and it's glorious. For the older one, you must use non-gaming mode with the slowest response time setting of "Fast" to keep the image crisp and not overdrive/overshoot. I suspect you using the middle setting is why you're seeing the overdrive issues. Response time should still be decent with the lowest setting.

      Isnt it just a Dell S2721DGF with RGB, a childish design, overclocked panel and 300$ extra charge?

    • @lucun_
      @lucun_ Před rokem +4

      @@friedrich1277 The S2721DGF is not the same panel as the AW2721D based on everything on Rtings. The RGB subpixels are even shaped differently. Compared to the AW2721D, the S2721DGF does not support HDR, has lower brightness, worse viewing angles, and doesn't have a G-Sync module. Not sure if you can OC the S2721DGF to 240hz, but it is missing a whole lot of hz, which makes it cheaper.
      Based on the features, the AW2723DF seems more like a AW2721D panel without G-Sync Ultimate.

    3:20 The click it amd pull out screen is the way samsung recommends it for every single monitor I bought. The 24 inch gaming monitor and the M5 32 inch did the same thing just with different stand design for obvious weight differences. For any other screen I strongly recommend doing it as close to this as possible. Leave it in the foam and protective sleave in the box and take the BACK foam off and install whatever stand you decide to rock. For wall mount its the same but the plate needs to attach to the wall bracket or arm. Leave MORE cable for adjustment on any PC peripheral not just screens. I had to rip my setup appart because of short cables and it wasnt FUN.

    I tried this out as a replacement to my AW 360Hz 1080p Monitor (from 2020), but ended up returning it and staying with the 360Hz. On extreme response time this 1440p monitor has 3x the inverse ghosting as the 360hz. Really makes a difference if all you plan to play is FPS games, so for stuff like VALORANT I'd pass on this one. For almost every other game though, the 1440p 280hz beats out last gen's 360hz.

It didn't look any worse in terms of motion smoothness with it off so it was really no loss for a major image quality boost. It was expensive, but it's the best monitor I've had so far. It's only 90% DCI-P3, but it's far better than my 7 year old acer IPS screen. I think it's just 100% sRGB. It's not terrible though which is why it's now my secondary monitor.
