    While on his deathbed, Ringo asserts that he was the first to shoot and requests that Street not apprehend or execute his murderer. He predicted that Bromley would quickly come to the realization that, like Ringo, having a reputation as a gunfighter would follow him wherever he went and cause him to be a social outcast for the rest of his life.

    The Gunfighter is a 1950 Western film from the United States, helmed by Henry King and featuring Gregory Peck, Helen Westcott, Millard Mitchell, and Karl Malden in the lead roles. Based on a plot by Bowers, Roger Corman, screenwriter Andre de Toth, and an uncredited revision by writer and producer Nunnally Johnson, William Bowers and William Sellers wrote the screenplay. This picture was the second instance of King and Peck working together out of a total of six collaborations.
    Henry King served as the director.

    I don't know if anyone else understands or agrees with me come but at the end wasn't that Ringo riding out of town? I also had an idea that this was a planned way out. I'm not saying that he didn't pass the torch to hun, because I believe he deliberately put him down on the spot as the fastest gun.
