EA Sports WRC with a LIVE Co-Driver!

- As you likely noticed yesterday (13th October 2023), we dropped a couple of preview videos on EA and Codemasters’ upcoming EA SPORTS WRC rally game. And, as you could probably tell, we very much enjoyed the early build we played.
To celebrate the superb gravel handling we thought it was time to add to our series of videos where we drive rally games using a real co-driver (including tackling the full Jersey eRally).
As ever, in the driving seat sat rally licence holder John Munro, with Oasley Beattie alongside reading the notes - trying his best to avoid the fate of Timo Rautiainen.
Taking to the fast gravel sweeps of Chile in the racy-looking Ford Puma Rally1, team Traxion attempts to set a quick stage time (while not binning it).
Will the pair Scandi-flick their way to glory? Will Oasley call an incorrect pacenote and be slapped in the face à la Guido D’Amore? Will we need to get HR involved?
Strap yourself in to find out the answers to all these questions while enjoying over 12 minutes more of early EA SPORTS WRC footage. Let us know what you think in the comments below.

#Traxion #EASportsWRC #RallyCoDriver - Hry
I think for any WRC eSports events, drivers should have their own co-driver and do their own pace notes. Recce the stages themselves instead of follow the in-game notes. That would add another degree of realism to the competition.
That's a good idea but would only work on something like procedural stages as the regular ones will have their pacenotes online by then anyway.
come on man. It's about making money, not about making realism
Agreed
It would be a good idea but undoubtedly any driver fast enough for esports would probably know the stages without pace notes anyway
esports guys will just learn the whole stages by memory no need for pace notes at all
Who can even hear the pace notes over the sound of that beautiful transmission whine 😍
This is what i have done and its been very fun. Live codriver is essential to have an authentic experience.
any tips on how to set this up? thanks
The new dimension in Sim-racing.
In the past you pay a ton of money for a fullmotion simrig.
Now you pay monthly salary to your new co-driver to find the last seconds on the track.
Always moving things forward. 😂
Best rally video I've ever seen from content creators what a time to be alive, now all I have to do is talk the wife into doing the pace notes.
Did you know D-BOX made a 2 person rally rig? it would be perfect for this.
It would be perfect if we could record the pacenotes to have our own co-drivers within the game. The development of the simulator is amazing, congratulations.
Sounds amazing! Now that I have my rally license I am hoping to do a real one sometime in the next year or two, and maybe Oasley can be my co-driver…👀
What's going on with the body roll?
This is making me wanna buy the game, except I have no one I know who can be the co-driver haha
Amazing video, would love to see more of this
A pleasure to watch. Great work you two 👍
Thanks Tom, appreciate the comment!
The car sounds very good and the speed of the camera is spot on I'm liking it so far
This should be in the online multiplayer.
Would be mega
Absolutely love it! ❤ Thanks for sharing it🙂
Our pleasure!😊
The ride with these new rally cars feels very smooth with all that new tech . Cant wait to tackle these stages with the savage Group B monsters . This is where you truely get the adrenaline rush in rally
Will be a lot of fun for sure
@@TraxionGG Its the ultimare rally experience indeed ! Btw can you upload a video with cockpit cam gameplay of 205 T16 E2 in one of the Acropolis rally stages ?
Awesome work both of you!
But wtf is wrong with the replay camera? Fish eye lens and allways above ground? What about an option for ONLY spectator view on replay?
Why can't they learn that?
You are funny guys, respect!
am i crazy or is this the same voice I hear in RBR
This looks amazing
Is there a build in trancription for the pilot, or do you need to write it all down manually?
We did a recce beforehand, where we wrote down our own notes for the stage ahead. This is the second take we did, as the first one was a quick shakedown, hence the mistakes with call timings and the quick venture off-track. Our notes may be wildly different to the notes that Codemasters have created, just like real life where no two co-drivers will have the exact same notes!
Almost all co drivers irl write and transcribe their notes by hand so no software needed if you do your own recce.
Do a video of the settings please
There is no echo through the forest of the car sound on replay.. Just a quick sound and gone.. Quiet.
Every game I swear..
Hadn’t really thought about that, a very good point! How epic would that be?
Aww man, this will be so awesome, and I'd need to upgrade my pc to play. Oh well, maybe some day
Is live Co-driver included in premium edition?
Good evening, could you tell me the angle you are using on the steering wheel and the force? thanks
Take my money for this set :D
Damn! Is this a feature? Would be amazing!
you can already do this in DR2.0. just mute the co-driver and turn off pacenote HUD.
All you need is a friend a chair and a notebook and pen! No software required!
Exactly this!^^^ Doesn’t need to be a mode, we just wrote our own notes with the hud off and went from there 😊
From where or how th copilot got the map or notes of the track?
Looks epic
Well thats fun, hoping my 7700X/6800XT will run it well too!
meanwhile im here with my RX570 from 2017, praying to God it will run just as well as DR 2.0...
I just wonder, will it run at medium settings?
Going to be upgrading from a 6700xt to a 7800xt
Looks not too bad, but still not as plausible to be a SIM. At 1:08 - 1:11 the car hits two bumps, seemingly loosing contact with the road, but despite the rotating momentum it had before the jump there is no rotation while it flyes. Not that obvious as in Dirt2.0, but the physics still behind the RBR, unfortunately. I will buy this only at a very deep discount.
Man the car sound 😍
It’s good, right?
you know it was the 12th yesterday right?
Pero va durmiendo el copiloto , con más ánimos cheee
great job.
Thanks!
Please tell me EA WRC has full camera adjustments..? DR 2.0 was great, but the in-car cameras were abysmal.
No triple caution??
Such a masterpiece🎉
Do you need to buy a deluxe version of the game to get the co-driver?
Yes exactly, Oasley isn’t cheap!
Why did ea get rid of online co driver mode? Used to love playing that mode with friends.
Better than the co-driver in game.
Is the Csl dd enough force feedback?
With the boost kit, absolutely! Without the boost kit, enough but you might want that little extra power for the enjoyment.
Will we be able to select our co-drivers name?
Is there an explanation to all the callouts ? I do not understand what the co driver says and I would love to learn it
We have the video for you! - czcams.com/video/CySfbPpWbCc/video.htmlsi=P4i43TEjoVWYz4NV
We also plan on making a new one bespoke for this game when it releases. 🙂
much appreciated !@@TraxionGG
is there a tutorial on how to do it? or what headset they are using?
We just turned off all of the OSD, did a slow run through the stage and wrote down our own notes on a notepad, then drove the stage using those notes🙂 The radio style audio is just editing rather than the headsets.
Other CZcams peeps saying it's impossible to get car to slide and no need to counterstear but not what it looks like from your pov.
On eSports memorising the stages.. and that not being realistic.. agreed that this is not same as hot lapping in reality but these days real rallys are a lot closer to memorising the stage than ever before..
truth is now days from wrc to club rally, onboards of each and any stage are really accessible..
the driver's do the best they can to memorise as much as they can. And also, its not like real rally will completely change the stages from year to year.
A lot of the time the stages have been done before, and those that have experience will have pace notes ready to go and the drivers have a better idea of what go except.
So to wrap it up, real rally is lot more similar that we might romantically hope..
They mix it up a fair bit and weather helps but yeah it's definitely a factor
I agree with this too. Sure, it’s more in extreme in esports because drivers can practice the stages so many times that they know exactly what to do in every corner. But in terms of the real thing, they do know the stages as well as possible, just can’t practice them as often. It’s a bit like when we play rally games regularly, we begin to remember and recognise stages but that doesn’t mean we know 100% of the limits in every corner.
Doing this co-driver video was simulating real life in a sense, we did one recce where we wrote the notes, one slow drive through to tweak things and then onto this run. So you become slightly familiar with the stage but you don’t know the limits 😎
What does the 'split' call mean?
When calling "Split", this referred to the split graphic that pops up on the screen after ending a section of the stage.
@@TraxionGG Do you know, I hadn't even noticed that! Thank you for the clarification.
No worries! Just a good reference point for us in the pacenotes to know where we are at if we get lost. 😊
No tracks after drive. Why car FLY???
Kinda sad you loose controls after finishing the stage. Bumping into a tree at 200kph 2 meters after finish line sounds dumb.
It depends on the mode, I think. I was watching Jimmy Broadbent's stream earlier and some events/modes had him stop at the marshal after passing the line while others took control. I *think* you lose control in time trial.
@@TheDealer1228 That's good. Thanks for the info
from what i've watched, this game looks to be fun, but just another arcade racing game... not a simulation at all.
I wouldn’t call it a ‘hardcore’ sim, but it’s a noticeable development from Dirt Rally 2.0. All depends on what you are after, but I feel the handling here is good enough and enjoyable enough to catch all rally fans!
The stage still looks very monotonous.
hate that cartoonish graphic.
Are you watching the same video?
?
@@keeef23 you think that graphic is photo realistic ? 😂😂😂
@@userpc-zq1je no but it’s hardly “cartoonish”
@@userpc-zq1je I think that a game will never be truly “phot real” why? Because it’s a game, it isn’t real, graphics aren’t the most important, people need to stop acting like they are. The graphics look fine
