Rally a sub into the channel
There seems to be some "hidden" damping effect inside the wheel friction, tire friction and surprisingly tire slip sliders in the game's FFB settings. By testing those (mainly decreasing) you can get a lot more fidelity in your FFB. This has been tested on Simucube Sport and on Moza R5 up until now. Please try it on your DD1 and tell us your opinion. Also, the Moza R5 was recognized day 1 and had a preset ready in the game settings, no workaround needed.

The “fictional rallies” are in fact real rallies with “please don’t sue us” rebrand. They’re Spain, San Remo, Norway, Indonesia and NZ. Still sad that Wales Rally GB was omitted but that’s more on WRC themselves than EA or Codies

@@Mr.Marbles Don't quote me on this, I'm not an expert but Since the events are not currently licensed to the WRC, the WRC doesn't have direct license to them, so it would be legally annoying to try to get the license, and it's better to just rebrand. These events tend to have their own governing bodies (like ADAC for Deutschland for instance) and their own sponsors
@@Mr.MarblesWRC does not have ‘rights’ to a nationally organised event ad infinitum. Branding of a current WRC rally yes, as that’s all part of the commercial terms agreed when hosting a WRC event. But the WRC does not gold rights over, say, RAC Rally, Press-on-regardless Rally, Rally Bulgaria etc etc
First thing i did with my friends is load up multiplayer and played a few stages together. It is live timing based. but if you finished earlier than your friends, you can see them struggle. Which adds a load of immersion. And in game voice chat is pretty neat. although we still use discord.

The career structure is genius, it's like an infinite rotisserie of events/championships letting you taste all types of car classes and rallies.
It's a big shame that people are fully writting this off because of the (patchable) stutters or just the name 'EA'
There is a difference between writing something off or set it on hold until it's fixed.
It would be important to wait until problems are fixed. Otherwise some publishers never fix. EA e.g.

I hate that they don't have Daily/Weekly/Monthly challenges anymore. The big player pool was a great way to judge how well I did on the Event. Let's see if club championships can fill that role.

It has been clearly stated that there will be NO new locations or cars coming as paid DLC.
The Central European Rally is still missing but will be added in a free update post-launch.

Saw that most, if not all of your footage is from driving time trial, correct?
If that is the case, I suggest going into quick play solo and set up a gravel event at Kenya or Chile with the surface degradation setting on maximum.
That'll give you a proper taste of what the ffb can do. Highly enjoyed it myself.
The dev team is working on the day 1 patch which will contain further performance optimisation as you mentioned.
Most (racing) games including ACC didn't run particularly smooth at launch either, if I remember correctly.
Besides, ACC demands a less from your PC than EA Sports WRC, mainly because of the environments are rather small.
The WRC game has such incredibly large environments as well as densely packed environmental features, something which isn't exactly the case in a game such as ACC.
That's a shame to be missing out on any British stages, but there is more than enough content already in the game for the price.
but then there's Dirt Rally 2.0 for a lot less cash and if you already owned Dirt Rally and DR2 why bother with WRC if even the graphics don't match some other sims,i suppose the Tarmac in WRC seems better FFB.

Playing on PS5, mainly with controller and having a blast. Yes, there are some graphical glitches and some stutters which I'm sure will be solved, as mentioned these are not game-breaking. The physics are wonderful balanced enough for the more casual or sim racer to enjoy. If you're a "pro" driver you will definitely be faster than the casuals. The casual driver will enjoy the experience.
This is the closest an arcade/sim rally game has ever come to NGP physics in RBR and im pretty happy with them, gravel and tarmac physics need some fine tuning and adjusting but the potential is there and far exceeds dirt rally 2, my only complaints are limited to the soft suspension of the cars that seemingly soak up all sorts of elevation changes and bumps along with the unrealistic arcadey feeling of excessive grip in certain scenarios
What about input delay? I've seen mrelwood games review where he points out with examples and comparisons with other games horrible input lag. Big fan of rbr ngp here so i'm happy to see that it holds up!
@@kozmickoprase It's actually not a thing. The 'input lag' is merely visual and not a physical thing. The wheels of the car turn the moment you turn your wheel. Only the visual ingame steering wheel has a delay. Remove the wheel and hands, try again and see if the car feels or reacts with a delay. ;)

@@kozmickoprase definitely turn off the wheel if you use cockpit cam. it is so distracting when the wheel doesnt move to coincide with the car movement. also cockpit cam lets you adjust the seat height and tilt. so good.
The physics are nowhere close to real sus and tire sim of RBR. In Dirt what you see is just an imitation of a simplified hovercraft physics.
This game is so fun. I’ve got a shit-eating grin going down the stage. Also, I’ve got a mid-range PC and I’m running graphics on high or ultra no problem. I know some people are having issues, but it’s not me

Same. I find the FSR in this game looks really good, so i run that at high preset with anti aliasing cranked and it looks good to me. im only 1080p 60 fps though, basically a caveman ;)
Sorry to ask but what pc do you have? I have a ryzen 3600 CPU and a 4060. I'm not sure if it's a safer bet to buy on ps5?

Codemasters may not have made a WRC branded rally game till now, but they did have the WRC license in the Colin McRae rally days. The first 3 games of that franchise was fully licensed by WRC
I love the concept of making your own car and all the customisation around it.
They should include Multiplayer with Co-driver, you should read out the track for your colleague and second stage re-play with switched places :D
I love this EA Sports WRC game. I loved Dirt Rally 1 & 2. I am running an older i7-6700k and a GTX1070 and triples. It runs pretty smoothly with a lower setting. It is still bonkers good. I did not expect to be able to run it in triples, but I can and in the drivers seat it gives me a great seated view. I can see turns and all. I am using an 8NM Fanatec GT DD base with an older Fanatec WRC xbox wheel, I have Fanatec V3 Inverted pedals and the 2.5 shifter. I have an old TM TH8A shifter that I modded with an external spring and a modded sequential cover that I opened longer and removed the spring. It works very nicely. I am learning to hand brake. Once I figured out how the game worked I got it all to work very well. I love the ffb and wheel lock. I am in a couple of leagues, I am near the bottom. I am in one that has no driving aids, fairly tough, but only 6 legs per rally week. "The Simpit Rally." It is open to joining.
Ive found that the game does everything quite well to be honest. I get frame drops on series x but hey it’s still running 4k no issues aside from the rare frame loss
A question: Doing the daily and weekly challenges was my bread and butter in Dirt Rally 2.0. I played those quite often. It was a good way of racing as well as comparing my skills to those other players in the leaderboard. Does EA WRC also have this mode?
There are official clubs which seem to have one rally for WRC classes and one rally for earlier car classes. So two weekly clubs. For replacing the dailies they have moments mode which add one stage challenge every day. Lots to do in this game.
I also noticed that the cars pivot point is not over the rear axle like a real car to fake the sliding action. Am I the only one who noticed that?

Yeah it's been like that since Dirt rally 1, but at least they made it a bit less fake in WRC23
I was looking into this some after watching the video on this topic, and then watching a few hours of rally racing. At speed, those cars pivot at the center of gravity because they typically are able to get the rear ends loose. And the center of gravity is probably closer to the center than to the rear axle. So I think this is appropriate in almost any situation except driving slowly. Driving very slowly it’s hard to tell, what’s going on but really I don’t care, because it’s about what is realistic at speed or maybe hairpin turns that matters more.
Wouldnt the pivot point be over the front axle?
Played yesterday for some hours. Stages are great, graphics & FFB are ok but not improved vs. DR2, biggest disappointment is that it is still not possible to select time of day or season during time trial. Helicam is sadly missing in replays.
I liked hearing them chopper blades whirring during replay. Gosh. Maaan I was getting this to play on my ps5 controller but now I wish they would update Dirt 2.0
I saw a tutorial where you can set up FFB in a pretty realistic way, I have to Steer like real rally driver haha
Time trial is fixed to a condition because people would split too much in the leaderboards, having a few guys at night, other couple of people at rain, etc, making it less competitive. The best way to play single rally is making a custom championship with just 1 stage and that's it.
Setting aside my disappoint regarding the absence of VR at launch, I now understand that UDP telemetry output is also missing and that there are no plans to include it in the future. Does anyone know if this is correct?

'Rally Technical' has a really solid ffb settings video. I've been trying lots of things but the moment I tried his it was perfect. Would def check that out if you're struggling.

Best settings I found so far are from Rally Technical's CZcams channel. He made a video 4 days ago, by far the best settings ive tried so far!

Simucube was supported at launch
I'm enjoying the title so far. Force feedback feels great with some tweaks to the default settings on a logitech g920. Some minor micro stutters which i assume are track sections loading on a HDD running high preset 1080p 60 fps on a 1080 ti so cannot complain at all. 16 GB ram with no memory issues. I did have one CTD with the game set to Ultra Preset transitioning from the main menu to the builder menu, no crashes since on high preset. Serviceable rally game and a good launch considering its 2023 and everybody sucks at launching games nowadays lol.
Would you mind sharing your tweaks for the logitech FFB? Even just generally what settings to turn down and what to turn up. I can't stand the default as it's like an earthquake, but my tweaks have lost me a lot of feel.
Dirt 2 and grid 2019 weren't ea and they had a ton of dlc, so I don't think ea is to blame here. They were really surprisingly good with not forcing any dlc into fifa, for example, which they could easily do by adding new leagues, and also the SW jedi games, they aren't ruined by dlc either for some wonderful reason.
I think the game is fantastic and is one of the best feeling yet, there are some minor graphical annoyances and polish items that need to be addressed. But we need to keep in mind that we're not even officially released yet for a brand new game that's being released cross platform, which is a monolithic development effort.
The biggest performance issue is (hopefully) patched tomorrow. There could definitely be some polish and quality of life upgrades to the user experience. Overall, at the heart of it this is a very good rally game, with shedloads of content and fairly reasonably priced.

Wasnt planing on getting the game until it had proper triple screen support, but was still tempted. Now knowing it also wont work on my asetek wheel atm has me questioning if I even want to buy the game at all.
I wanted too but not anymore. I'll finish wrc 9 and play dr 2.0 until this game is even cheaper than 50usd.
Im running it just fine with my triples using Nvidia Surround. It's by far the most fun I've had playing in a loooooooooong time. First day playing I did like 13 hours straight, it's been ages since a game really hooked me like that.
thats great@@Horneycorn. However triple monitor projection without the angle adjustment give me slight motion sickness. my screen are angles at around 60 degrees. So it is visually massively warped for me.
@@10mmGR i managed to get it quite close by basically just lowering the fov and driving hoodcam, I luckily dont really have warping issues. When im in cockpit few its a bit warped. Hoodcam is fine though, everything goes so fast in this game that Im actually startint to really like the hoodcan :).

No offense, but I think more people were happy with the Corolla WR car, Evo 5, and Celica than the Mini WR car or Galant.
To release a new racing game one year after the release of psvr2, without support for psvr2 or pcvr, when previous rally games have had both psvr and pcvr support.. that's mindbogling.

First new game I haven’t heard a load of criticism over. It seems like the first modern game in a while actually made well.
I currently have two problems with this game (apart from the mentioned stutters):
1. There's no in-game frame rate limiter (I know I can use the gpu drivers settings but it just isn't the same).
2. Dual Shock 4 controllers are recognised and the game has button prompts for them but there is no vibration support (as a workaround one can disguise their controller as an xbox controller either through Steam or DS4Windows) (the light bar is not supported either)
On the plus side it doesn't need the EA App to run.

I hate that this has to be a positive at this point, but being someone who mostly does single player I am glad they dropped the trend of DR 2.0, GT7 and Forza motorsport by not locking the single player career behind a required internet connection so that portion will at least remain playable in the future when they kill off the servers.
I haven't played the multiplayer yet, but I was really hoping they would add the hardcore mode from Dirt 3 back in eventually. Playing the other games where everyone could have whatever settings and viewpoints they wanted, time gaps were all over the place (I was on the PS3 with a controller so not sure how many hard core racers with wheel setups would have been playing back then), but it always seemed like the gap between first and last in hardcore races was always less than most of the standard multiplayer games for the gap between first and second.
I use a controller and have seen some issues where the asphalt feels really floaty still, I am just hoping it is down to it being Monte Carlo, but even then I don't think I have even had as much issue with the car sliding like that there in any previous WRC or Dirt game. Overall being just three weeks into the single player season its great so far, but still waiting for the Craig Breen tribute stuff they said was going to be in the game and hopefully the first update will fix the frame stuttering issue, its usually minor but a bit more of a problem when you are full speed going into a corner on the faster stages.
Thanks for the review, agree with nearly everything you say. The main thing is that it is so much damn fun and so involving to drive, it’s the Dirt Rally 3 I always wanted really with loads of tracks and really long stages to boot. I’m sure the performance issues will get sorted fairly quickly although for me it’s just an occasional irritation rather than something that is constantly bugging me (I do have a high end system though).

Are camera settings and fov hardcoded like in DR2.0?
fov can be manually adjusted and you can also move the seat to all directions.
I really hope that if Codemasters is in change of this title that they have support for Simagic wheels because all the WRC titles that I own now do not support Simagic at all I they told they never will. I really hope it is supported. Because I loved playing them when I used my Thrustmaster T300 now I'm out of luck unless someone knows a go around play cheat that I could use to get it done.

I’m seeing a lot of CZcamsrs I follow pumping this game. I’m a bit disappointed because I know this game doesn’t run well I have a rtx4090…. So I’m starting to get very suspicious that a lot of CZcamsrs I trust are actually just payed off.

All countries have 1 massive stage broken up into parts for the other stages, like every other rally game
I don't know why racing titles lately don't support proper triple screens support. Even AMS2 support is impossible when it once did.
I was really looking forward to this game. However, no VR on launch and if Codemaster's VR implementation in F1 22/23 is anything to go by, I think I will wait before parting with my money.

If you have a Maxwell GPU (900 series), don’t buy it yet as it has unplayable artefacts on night and rain stages
This is still far from a proper sim like RBR, even without any assists and hardcore damage on. But I must admit that I'm having an absolute blast, it really has a lot going for it. The inconsistent performance is the worst part, FPS floats a lot and there are innumerous stutters.
I'll wait until it's at least 50% off, which won't be long. $65 CAD is too much considering I paid $12 for the COMPLETE (all DLC) Dirt Rally 2. By then there will be several patches too.

I like it but it has some missing features and the performance isn't great. I especially miss the daily and weekly challanges from dirt rally 2.0. Kinda wish I hadn't pre-ordered it unless they bring some patches and optimize the graphics.

There are issues. Lack of UDP telemetry, proper triple screen support, performance issues. On consoles it looks a bit last gen. No VR support yet. It could have been great. The handing, force feedback, and stages are good. It will be a great game at some point, but right now it isn’t.
I personally enjoyed 2hrs of gamermuscle attempting to get his controls configured. Brilliant stuff.

They’re actually pretty low, you should consider an upgrade…
I mean, my PC is a potato by today's standards, but it still runs pretty well in medium settings and 1080p. Although I might end up upgrading my PC at some point simply because the writing seems to be on the wall for my current PC with system requirements rising quickly. For example I was able to run DR2.0 in Ultra settings easily, but not WRC.
I actually upgraded like 6 monts ago. My first Gaming PC that is fine in 97%
Graphically a step down from dirt 2 but a lot of fun and great tracks go on for ages i like it but just wish the graphics were as good as dirt

Is it VR ready? If not, they suck..
Turn on simhub... you CAN'T! No telemetry...so no sim dashes, no bass shakers or led's for shift lights and forget it with your wind sim. None of it works. I'm not impressed in any manner as it's also a stuttering mess! I'm on a 5800X3D and a 4090 too.
TAA kills it for me, can't play it, that blurriness is sooobad
Just started Championship mode and Monte Carlo is unplayable, not only shutters but game is slowing down , fps drops, weird lightning , brightness is too high, we are playing what should be an alpha version of the game, UE4 is not good for racing, don't buy this game in this stage, PC specs : Ryzen 7 5800x3D, 64GB, 3080TI, SSD
Thats whats putting me off. The reviews are often by people with far better setups than me, and they are still suffering freezes and stutter. That's a massive no no for racing.
No issues on PS5 at all. I’ve been telling master racers that games are better optimized on console for years but they just laugh at me.

You need to tweak the game on its current condition in order to get better rendering and performance. Other than that, if you have a 3080, activate dlss ! And if you have hdr, turn on hdr in the game. Then everything will be great !🎉
@@bloodfire29 Maybe I'll try and refund if it stutters too much. I've only got a 5800x3d and 2060 super. Thing is that should be enough graphically given DR 2.0 looks good enough and smooth as butter.
The only issue I have is with compatability force feedback, aka moza Wheelbase. Once they add support, I will give EA a pass. Dirt rally 2.0 looks way better, but it also didn't run well on my modern pc. Not to be a downer, but I actually love WRC. I think this game improves in a ton of areas, but graphics are average compared to dirt rally 2.0. Still good graphics, but you can tell dirt rally 2.0 still has a better range of quality. I still think this game is the definitive edition of WRC games. Heck, the dips in the previous game are completely removed. Anyways, I love this game!
Wut? Im running a Moza R9 and it's working absolutely fantastic. There's a real easy line of code you can just copy paste into the game folder, set it up once in the menu and it works like a charm.
@Horneycorn yep I actually saw that the other solution I did instead was reboot my wheelbase while in game, and that seemed to work without having to tweak the xml file.
I was really looking forward to this game. Everything looked great. It all rested on how the game actually felt on wheel. I refunded it and have gone back to DiRT 2.0. I'm sure it's great for the more casual market and I understand why a WRC game would be more arcade than sim to be more accessible but it's still really disappointing that it's not more of a sim. Hopefully Codemasters will still be making something for the fans of more sim orientated games.
Este jogo è muito bom e muito muito mau ao mesmo tempo,,, jogabilidade ta ok, mas estas quebras de quadros impossibilitam me de jogar, tenho um rtx 3070 e nao co sigo rolar o jogo com mais de 50fls e montes de latencia 25ms.. sendo que as especificacoes recomendadas sao uma rtx 2070..
Mais uma vez a EA games a lançar jogos muito mal acabados sò porque ta a chegar o Natal... que vergonha...

Eu se for comprar um carro novo e o vendedor me disser: o carro é novo chave na mao pode levar, mas olhe tem aqui um barulho no motor, tem uma porta amassada, e quanto ao pneu suplente (VR) vamos mandar só aqui por 2 meses...

Going to give them a few Months to let them patch out the Performance issues and add the RAC Rally GB (and maybe some more Group B, Group A, and Early WRC Toyotas such as the Celica Twin Cam Turbo, 222D, ST165, ST185 and ST205 Group A Celica GT Fours, and Corolla WRC 99 *If* TOMOCO is willing to License them of course) , and then I will get it cheap on a STEAM Sale. I prefer not to pay full Price for Console to PC Ports.

A LOT OF STAGES are all the same,,,,,game is beginning to be very very boring to me----on just that note i give it a 6/10...
I’m with you on this . Did a track before , almost 12 mins long and it’s was so boring . The scenery is almost the same the whole way through and it’s just constant grippy horrible road 😴

I refunded yesterday. FFB is so much worse than in DR2. Graphics are ugly as hell, worse than DR2. Driving is too arcady. optimalization is a joke. I'll try it again later, but now it's still Dr2. Only reason to go for WRC is the stages, but are tgey really worth it? You hit those giant pot holes in Kenya and FFB is non existent, on the other way in DR2 you can feel every hole and rock you hit.

Bro did you even adjust your wheel settings? With optimized settings the force feedback and tarmac handling far exceed that of dirt rally 2 and I have over a thousand hpurs in that game so I'd know
@psychicpsycho99 I agree that Tarmac handling is better. But gravel is so much worse. What wheel setting? Those 6 sliders that let you choose the intensity of FFB? Yes, I played with them. My issue isn't weak ffb but non-existent ffb for certain car actions and bumbs/holes you drive into. Also, when you slam the brakes or gas, the FFB just isn't there. You can't feel the car locking the brakes, sliding, or fighting for traction like in other games.
Im also going to refund. Gravel physics feel really off
@@unclesam5733 yeah, same issue here. i hope they get that fixed asap. You just don`t get any feedback from the tires. In DR2 you could really feel the grip/traction of the car and every small bump.

It isn't really good. It's ok at best. Not sure why the reviews are praising it so much, it feels like slightly less janky WRC, but it's still nowhere near Dirt Rally 2 in terms of physics and sound

The wheel setting on PS5 is complete useless (T300). Instead of X-, O-button etc it shows red, green buttons. What you have to push is different of the controller.
I have never seen a most stupid thing with steering wheels in a game. I hope they will fix this quickly.
Yeah what is up with that? Also to confirm a menu action, usually with X, is now with circle and I cant remap it..

Game is amazing. But too much grip, fabatec dd pro the game forgets the settings. Roads are too narrow which is unrealistic. Need to widen the middle of the stage or randomly, also as good in 3rd person cam as kilotuns wrc generations and wrc 10. 9.2 out of 10

racing games need to STAY AWAY from unreal engine 4. all racing sims on UE4 have horrible performance especially when in VR. It looks nice but it's not worth the performance hits

This is unbelievable in what stage this game was released, and what is the physics. Haven't seen so unrealistic after DIRT Rally 2.0. Great job with making the real special stages, but they also needs deeper trenches and gravel differencies etc leafes etc rocks dust to the road, more realistic elements, which affects to the physics. But when the physics engine is originally designed for flying space ships, you cannot make it good otherwise you do whole physics overhaul to specific rallying. This needs to be done definedly to WRC 24. You got so much potential but you lose it while releasing this in buggy stage and ruining everything with wrong physics. It's very annoying when coming to 90 degree road crossing, you can brake from full speed 2x as late as real world, and car will make impossible grip turnings etc... cannot understand why make this game so stupid. And the cuttings.. omg what bullsh.t when watching how people drive this game, never would be possible in real world. So if this is trying to simulate in any level of rallying, you need to change directions. Mayde DIRT series for those who want to fly space ships looking like cars where ever imaginary tracks they want. Have those CM developers anybody drove a real rally cars and a real rallyes? I'll help you voluntarily if you want to listen. I'll hope you get it next year. All the best for everyone.
Funny you say that bc A whoooole lot of people who actually drive these cars IRL have mostly all said the same thing. Handling wise, there isn't any other title that really comes close to it. But hey, keep hating while I'm having an absolute blast enjoying this titan of a Rally game..
too much grip on gravel. correct grip on tarmac but with little consequence for errors, it is too predictable/ arcade. the ffb is also really weird and twitchy/ erratic and all over the place. watch irl footage and the steering wheel does not move that much. it is far more smooth. the performance issues are unacceptable. the lack of gravel hitting the underside of the car and being caught up in the wheel arches etc is MASSIVELY disappointing considering the previous game from these devs nailed that aspect.
the co driver calls are way too late, and boring in comparison to phill mills who did an excellent job in dr2. the delay/ lag between the physical input and the in game steering wheel is unacceptable. there appears to occasionaly be an input delay/ input smoothing/ assist that cant be disabled.
there is more, but that is enough for now. please fix this garbage codemasters.
You know that Rally cars IRL are way easier to drive than in most previous rally titles? More difficult doesn't equal more realism my guy. I have read so many reviews already of people who have actually driven these cars IRL and they mostly all say this game is the closest they ever felt to the real thing. Yes this game has more grip, but the real cars also have boat loads of grip due to the insane downforce they produce and high amounts of mechanical grip.
So saying stuff like ; more grip > more bad > arcade game > WRC bad...
Also there is no delay or lag between the physical input and the game input. Only this that's delayed is the image of the wheel in game but the actual inputs are not delayed whatsoever.
And if you would just look at what the game offers, man it must suck to be such a sour little boy. Content wise it's by far the best title released so far. Collection of different cars is top notch and the most impressive part is the INSANE amount of S tier stages an insane amount of different locations and lengths.
Apart from all the mud slinging, and this bad that bad BS. It's been a while since I had this much genuine fun playing a game.

Didn't kalle rovanperaabd himself say in the video where he tested the game that he could straight away be fast on this game and drive it like a real car?
I'm nowhere close to that guy, nor did I say I was but I do know that how I have the game setup right now I can make the cars in game do exactly what I want them to and feel really connected to the car and the road.
Tell me now, what's the point you're trying to make here? Cus you're doing a terrible job at it right now.

@@wotever99ninynine that’s such a bs argument. It’s true that more people will be able to finish a Rally stage in this game but there are still huge differences in skill. Due to the increased downforce and grip levels the people who are really good will be pushing much more speed in this game where you’ll reach the same point as in previous titles where the grip just stops. So the fast guys get faster and we’ll see more people reaching the lower mid zones because the car is more forgiving. So yes, the field is changing a bit but that by no means makes it an arcade game. You’re just holding a grudge for whatever reason.
