You know that you're getting the real essence of rallying when pace notes stop being a distraction or an annoyance....when pace notes become really intuitive 😉👍
That moment of panic when you realize that although you’re finally following the pace notes to drive, at this moment you’re confused at which one you’re at and don’t know what to do.
Great video, will definitely recommend to newcomers to rally. Just one small correction, when you talked about pacenotes 'narrows' and 'widens' what you actually meant were 'tightens' and 'opens' - these describe the sharpness of the corner changing, ie. 5 tightens 3 or 2 opens 4. Narrows and widens refers to the road getting wider or narrower and don't describe the corner itself.
oops! good catch, I think that was my 4th or 5th take on that specific clip haha, thanks for the info and kind words ❤️
Just bought WRC generations and this video showed up on my recommended. Didn't realize it was by a small youtuber until I read the comments. Keep it up man, awesome video that's easy to understand and well edited!
❤️❤️❤️
The algorithm seems to be suggesting a lot of small CZcamsr gaming videos lately.
As someone who is attending the first Norwegian folk high school (look it up) with a course dedicated to racing/rally, this is actually very entertaining to watch. I've always loved rally since I was a kid but this helps me better understand the finer details which I can in turn implement at our course. The video is very well made and your voice is amazing. I can't wait to see your future videos!
thanks! a course dedicated to rally for school sounds like a dream come true
Just started sim racing, just bought WRC as it was on sale for just £17 so thought why not, jumped on YT to find out what the hell I need to do, your channel popped up, your first full video and edit? really well put together and brilliant explanation of the in game detail. I would love it if you did a full series on this game. subbed 👍👍
Thanks mate! that could be a good idea 🤔
First full length video is a banger keep it up
Hey, really cool video. I would have never said it's someone's first "full feature" edit! Pleasant to watch - enjoyed it tons!
For a first video is this actually amazing, I thought you already have at least a couple thousand subs and a history on youtube. Keep going I'm sure you will make it far!
Wow, thank you!
I want to preface this by saying i think this is a great video. Its quite beginner friendly and mostly accurate. Definitely something i wish i watched when i started out with sim-rallying. I just have a few (hopefully constructive) comments.
I think you got mixed up on the difference between "narrows/widens" and "tightens/opens"
The former means the road width is changing. You might go from a multilane road that "narrows" into a single lane road that can barely fit a car, which indicates that corners have to be taken a lot slower because there is a lot less runway on corner exit. Of course the opposite is true -- a narrow road that widens will allow for slightly more corner speed.
On the other hand, a corner that "tightens" is a corner that begins at a specific severity, but then increases in severity (usually after the apex), indicating a reduced corner speed. When the tightening is severe enough, a new number will be read in the pacenote: 5-left tightens 3 is a corner that begins with severity 5 and then at or soon after the apex becomes a 3, indicating that you need to slow down. "Opens" does the opposite.
Next is that i get you're trying to save time, but i don't think it would've taken that many seconds to mention that "early" and "late" refer to the position of the apex in the corner. A simple way to think about it is "i can accelerate early/late out of the corner"
One rather large omission from pacenotes is the usage of corner length. Short, half-long, long, very long, extra extra long etc are used to tell the driver how long they can expect the turn to last, which is quite important to know since it can be hard to see where the corner ends (esp without VR!). In this game, in Japan for example, with the hillside next to you it is vital to know that the corner is very long so you don't accelerate too early and smash the barrier :P
The audio tip on turning codriver volume up and engine sounds down is pure gold. I do this myself and it's so vital.
Yep, I see what you mean, unfortunately I didn’t notice this until after the video was posted haha, thanks for the feedback mate!
Good video! I think you had a good structure and pace. Did you write pace notes for the video? 😂 keep up the good work!
A great video, as someone who has been sim rallying for ~6 months now, I think You described many things really well. Only one thing that I'd add: a little speech over how AWD, FWD and RWD cars handle differently cuz I've seen ppl jumping into RWD rally cars, try to drive it like its AWD and end up really confused
good point, now that you mention that, that could’ve been really helpful to mention. rally guide pt 2? lol
True indeed! All these transmissions handle differently and require different ways of handling.
Awesome video. Appreciate the effort you have put into it, many thanks. 😊
Love the vid dude !!
New to sim rally myself and have a few top 50 spots , addicted is an understatement!!!!
...a great video indeed! Please keep more coming! I've already subscribed to your channel.
more content is definitely on the way, progress is slow working a full time job lol
i am new to rally and not gona lie i found your video really good for understanding it a bit better
Glad I could help! it can be super confusing at first
Great video! Knew a lot of it already so just as a feedback, the visuals could fit better to your transcript, like for example show a nice scandi-flick when you talk about it or select the car class you talk about in the selection screen when you present it. Otherwise, great advice for beginners! Subbed for more advanced tips and ooking forward to them!
one thing i've been finding useful when the pace notes are coming at a speed where you're starting to feel confused and lost and just panic-reacting to corners as you see them, pick one and anchor onto it. keep that one in your mind and as soon as you spot it coming up, you can use it as a reference point to get everything back in order and get back into the flow
good video man, i'm not new de sim rally, but i'm always looking for content, nice production value, amazing that this is your first full lenght full edit video. Keep the good work.
much appreciated:)
Seriously good production value on this video. You need a lot more subscribers.
I appreciate it man! next video should be even better 👀
Nice editing, excellent sound quality, good diction. This channel is going to go skyrocketing, and I will be one of the first hundred astronauts here 😁
That means a lot to me ❤ Thank you!
Rally is a really unique motorsport.
really unique.
sprints and hill climbs are the only other events I can think of that are hyper similar.
something about the challenge of finding "the limit" of cars and stages together, is what has put Rally on-top for me.
really concise essay you nailed it mate!
it really is an art form, I fell in love with it a long time ago and the end goal is to get into the real thing.
My goal is to make it easier to understand and approach because it really is very confusing at first. but there’s just something special about it
As someone who has rallied irl, I totally agree, it's you and your car having a hell of a lot of fun, 8-16 miles of you and your skill vs the road, it doesn't matter how fast anyone else is going you just push yourself. It's a blast you never forget.
Nice editing and vocals, you'll surely blow up sooner or later.
glad you liked it! is there anything I can improve on?
Narrows is not the same as tightens. If a less severe corner becomes more severe co-driver calls "tightens". Narrows means that the road is getting narrower (corner or no corner). like "narrows over bridge" or "narrows through gate". It is tightens and it's opposite opens (a severe corner opens to be less severe), and "narrows" and it's opposite "widens".
this is the exact video i have been looking for, i'm new to sim racing and this is exactly what i need, thanks you deserve my subscribe awesome man!
Glad I could help! :)
im about to buy a rally game, and found this video. i thought you had like 10000 subs from the video. you have 78- wait one sec- 79 subs. thats some amazing content right here
i’ll get there one day if I keep working towards it, expect more videos in the near future
Great video. Watched the whole thing
Great video! I learned quit a bit! Thanks so much! And, by the way nice job editing and great delivery!
Thanks man! - this was my first fully edited and full length video so it feel good to see all the positive feedback :)
I like when the game shows the symbol for pace notes in addition to calling it out like WRC 8. Not sure if the other games have it.
Most games have them, at least the ones i’ve played
Great video mate. New subscriber here. Looking forward to more videos
Great content very helpful just subbed.you deserve way more subscribers
❤️❤️❤️
Nice video. Quick correction - your description of widens and narrows is a little bit off. Widens and narrows refers to the width of the road, where has tightens and opens refers to a corner getting more or less severe, for example, “4 left, tightens 3”.
Okay, for those who want to start rallying (in games, because in real life, it's just too expensive) . no hate to this game or anything it aint bad but its very unrealistic so whoever has a sim wheel just go straight to rbr but if you are playing on a controller or keyboard you can stick to EA wrc since you wont really feel the realism. Please note that im not implying that it's 1 to 1 to real life. Since no game has ever achieved that and never will.
I completely agree, this is good for fun and practicing but if you want to get as close to the real thing RBR is definitely a good choice. DiRT rally 2.0 is what i started on back on the PS4 which has a similar feel to this game. it’d be cool if we got a new hyper realistic rally game sorta like iRacing or ACC
Yeahh i also love rally gaming- Take it
Nah bro, how can he have 103 subs, my man here deserves like 100k+ atleast
haha i appreciate it! i’ll get there one day
IDK if it's a french thing, but they use the actual degrees of the curves. 90° for square, 180° for hair pin, you get it. I always thougt that indicate more precisly the curve itself than numbers who can be different depending the person who feels it.
Interesting.. I've never heard of that but it does sound more precise than "square" or "hairpin". especially when some corners are kind of in-between.
Widens and narrows refers to the width of the track. Opens and tightens refer to the corner.
Beautiful game 💟🌌☮️
Step 1. Get dirt rally
Step 2. Get good.
❤
Hope to see more of your content. Those rally cars classes sounds interesting. Wanted to know more of it. How I’m only driving the wrc2 cars coz I’m not that familiar with other classes. Wanted to drive subaru but haven’t found which class it’s in. The wrc cars are out of the question for me right now. Too fast jumping out of the corner.
I started out in the H1 (classic cars), after a little bit i moved up to the fastest all wheel drive cars just so i could have more experience lol, this was back on DiRT Rally 2.0, I can totally make a video on the classics
14:08 Include sound from the gave you are using but at the same volume as the music so we can still hear what you are saying, other than that good edit.
7:38 As a guy from Finland. I found it weird that there are people who don't know that snow tires exist. Just because they live in so far south from us.
Yeah it’s surprising how many people don’t realize they exist. I live in a very snowy area so a lot of the people around me have them
I live in space so I just found out about them recently
Now do aerodynamics in full detail.
how are you only having 72 subscribers?! let me make it 73, good sir
I appreciate it :)
Bro. Nice. Do you think drift on tarmac on ea wrc is possible like the real world?
definitely, a lot of people hate on it but i love the tarmac in this game
@@stillsplit can i ask why?
@@kennygo5053 people struggle to find grip and end up sliding all over the place but i’ve never really struggled much with it. plus when you get a really good run going around monte carlo or japan it’s super satisfying
hey, which stage is the one youre driving at the start?
I’m horrible with names but I know it was in the Japan rally
if you want how to sim-rally install RBR
RBR is super fun and definitely more realistic, less of a sim-cade kind of game. But WRC is very beginner friendly and easy to learn, it’s a good stepping stone to get into RBR
I cant get my head around tarmac in this game, constantly gliding into barriers or off clifs as i cant figure out how the grip works
it’s pretty tricky, smooth inputs to the steering and brake is key to not crashing as much, I will admit the tarmac physics in this game are not great so it takes some getting used to.
it also seems to react differently depending on the car, In the clips in the video i’m using a builder which feels pretty good but if I get in the 1997-2011 cars they feel pretty bad. so it just takes some practice
@@stillsplit i Mostly skip the tarmac now, snow and gravel are so mouch fun
If i want great tarmac i play assetto corsa
I really wish that game had VR. I'd love something else than RBR and DR2 to play with. EA says it will be coming eventually, but I don't really trust EA.
Agreed, I heard about it maybe coming towards the end of this month, but like you said, I doubt it
gd video
makes me wish I had a wheel...
Do it! I regret waiting so long
Do u live in the US? You can have my old Logitech G29.
@@TheCe1ticZombie no kidding?
@@Jaspercoit It’s just sitting in my basement. I upgraded and don’t need it anymore. Only used it a few times. I’ll ship it to you.
@@TheCe1ticZombie dude that would be awesome, I’m in , if your serious ofc
i dont have the "sq, and the numbers" in the callouts, od i have some bad gamemode or?
There’s different settings for the callouts, simplified and normal, simplified doesn’t give as many specifics
@@stillsplit thanks ill look for that, and can you do a video or something explaining the callendar. Because my friend is retarded and skipped all of that when i downloaded the game, i think i understand the callendar a bit but most of other things i dont, thanks for the response
Not Gunnar learn much about rally driving in ea wrc maybe the easiest place to start I suppose
yeah, it’s a good place to have fun and learn but if you want hardcore sim rallying the RBR is where it’s at
🫡
No thanks i do NOT want to be a rally driver, had my real life fun reading the pace notes ! yes i did do co driver rallying, the thing about pace notes they came along way since my early days..
People ask me how do you keep up with it, tbh your eyes read them but you feel the road with your "bum" that sounds funny, what you got the remember the stages you drive them before hand at least on some events..
Do i miss it yes and no, yes the thrill and the buzz but with age you get wise no thats bullshit... your body tries to tell you things like do not get back in the car, your spine, neck, bum is killing you lol.
I had my fun, i was not a pro level co driver but still driving at very high speeds in woodland is not to be sniffed at, now when i said thats it to my very good friend he turned and said if you finished i am, i said are you sure he said i would not trust anyone with my life like i trusted you...
we both had our life in each other hands, so much respect for any rally car co driver/ driver.... it takes alot of work even the private clubs work hard at it.
But get yourself to a rally school its a blast, we have now converted our 2 rally cars to road use, basic looks like nice car hiding under the skin is a pure rally car lol. "none for sale".
great video by the way 10-10, wonder if codemasters still got the huge Brass Plaque i sent them while doing Dirt Rally early stage release, i sent it to them from the community ! drawed it up in photoshop and got my brother in law to make it at his work place, blood thing was huge, and heavy..
going to a real rally school would be a blast! main issue is money lol. any kind of racing is gonna be expensive no matter what so one day i’ll get there! thanks for the comment, it’s fun hearing other people’s experiences.
This game is a POS....it's awful.
If you want a good game for current gen consoles, get WRC 9 (ps5 version)
I would have to disagree BUT I’ve never played WRC 9 so maybe i’ll have to try it out
now do RWD guide, specially on gravel
that’s a good idea.. expect that in the next couple of weeks
Great video dude!
