- UPDATE: One correction I'd like to make is that there IS a new lock on system in Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut that is turned off by default in the options, which I never noticed. I used it a little bit recently, and it works well for its purposes. I only wish the camera was more zoomed out while using it. Also, I initially estimated this may be a 15 to 20 hour long experience for completionists, but it's starting to look like that playtime is closer to between 10-15 hours, though if you look for literally every single collectible, your playtime may be longer.

It's a minor thing but I love the new parry animations, they make the perfect parries feel so good
You know that's funny you mention a lock-on system because I just got bat into this to prepare for the expansion and the whole time I assumed there was a lock on and I realized there wasn't but having it makes so much sense.

Depends. Got is nothint compared to the 1st 2 ass creeds. But the rest sure. Thats not much of an achievement though.
Why? Because when you climb shit, it feels exciting, rewarding and natural, in Ass Creed climbing every damn surface like Spider Man makes no damn sense and feels like a God damn chore.

Mostly agreed. The free implementation of multiplayer was a great addition, and the 60fps upgrade for PS5 was also a plus…but the pricing of PS4 to Director’s Cut to PS5 to Director’s Cut to DLC is more complicated than it needs to be.
I wondered if they even really exist 😂 I just want a digital edition stand alone but no joy! Then my PSN friend texts me with a photo of a digital PS5 in a bag he’d just got! He was in his local game store and they actually had a few in stock £389 with a few bits n bobs like a game headset. I was gutted I hadn’t got the money at the time! So annoying not just being able to find when when u want one

Not even that bad too, they're even putting the dlc on ps4 as well, so I'm getting bonus content now, AS well as a another reason to play it whenever I manage to get a 5.

This game and studio literally proves that DLC can be accepted if done right, the multi-player is a prime example of this topic and you know what? it is literally free! Everything you can earn from costumes to emotes it is all free!!! No bullshit microtranactions and p2w shit...FREE!!! And we didn't even need it in the first place but they were nice enough to surprise us with it and it is amazing. Thank you so much sucker punch studios

@@mkzwrld7641 She cried, it made her homesick, although it's a hyper stylised version of a Japanese island it isn't a million miles away either, making my lovely Mother homesick is the biggest compliment I could give the game, we used to watched the old Kurosawa movies as a wee boy and she can see the influences of Seven Samurai etc, she liked the Kurosawa mode but preferred the colours of the standard, my Grandfather over in Japan plays this game and he's 76 now, in his home our old family armour, the kabuto, mengu and do intact with katana proudly on display, its closer to Jin's fathers set in style and has a green white and orange colour scheme....like an Irish flag, what are the odds, his Grandfather fell in 1877 in Kagoshima and armour has the 14 shots it took to take him down, he died with his beloved horse Tengoku, he took at least 30 men out before he was dropped, my Irish side has an armour as well, we only have the family broadsword now though, the armour from Ireland was in a Final Fantasy game, strange coincidences, my Grandfather is better than me at that game 😂 all the best to you mo chara, Tomodachi ni kiite kurete arigato 🇮🇪🙏🇯🇵 if any of you want to add me on PS it's the same as this with no space, understand if not as I'm a Jappaddy stranger so no offense taken, take care.

As someone who has platinumed the entire game, beat the raid in multiplayer and unlocked every collectable, I still find myself coming back to Ghost of Tsushima for hours on end.
This game is a fucking triumph, and I love just how much Sucker Punch has supported it.

I have played a bit of legends and I am enjoying the heck out of that too, something I wish AC did with their multiplayer.

Still hoping the sequel takes place during the Warring States period. The samurai duels were the best part of the game.
Since Jin is basically the canonical start of the ninja style of battle, it would be fuckin sick if he were to lead a band of people trained in his fighting style to be a mediator in the conflict
@@Gabriel-wk3hz i reckon this is the direction the story of the franchise will go Jin's ways of battle will eventually lead to others taking up his ways and this will be the fictionalized beginning of the way of the ninjitsu.
kinda like how Darius/Bayek/Altiar in Assasins creed created the ideas of the creed.

Knowing current Sony, when they have solid ground on Ghost of Tsushima 2, they will port it to PC for extra advertising and cash.
I already pre-ordered this dlc, simply because Sucker Punch has done what was originally believed only CDPR would do over the years. I'm not able to play it yet, but I have faith that it'll be a wonderful experience much like I had with the base game.

I still find it odd how long it takes to load gear previews. Everything else is smooth but selecting a new hat takes longer than a loading screen.
I agree, it's really annoying when you get a new mask or you're trying to see the visual difference between upgrades and it takes a lot of time in between. But that's my only complaint about the game which is impressive
I wonder if it's some sort of limit of the PS hardware. Same issue is very prevalent in Dragon Age Inquisition (at least on base PS4). Different studio, I know, but makes ya think.

It sounds like there is a lot of content on the new island though. In the push Square review, they spent 17 hours doing everything on the island
They just added a lock-on mechanic with the new patch. Has to be turned on in the settings first though.

I’ve had that happen to me as well and it’s soo terrifying.
I’ve also had a glitch where I’d try to do a chain assassination, but I’d get launched 50ft in the air and die.

i got the new update today and being able to choose and replay duels and sites is amzing, but one small issue i had is it took away an armor that i had to go through and hit all the hotsprings again just to get back unfortantely. also the 2 new mask is awesome too!! thats all just base game directors cut upgrades. cant wait till midnight!!

Been looking forward to playing this on PS5 with all the PS5 bells and whistles. Loved the first few times I played it. Never played the multiplayer though, mainly because all my friends are still on Xbox. I jumped shipped to play God of War! They don't know what they are missing.

I just got a PS4 Pro this week and was wondering if i should get the game, and this convinced me, i'll have so much fun with this for sure!
If they want to do something crazy with a DLC it's to update it so you can chose more of a traditional warrior path, you can in dialogue and in playstyle but in cutscenes you will always be The Ghost, I'm kind of with The Shogunate in his review on this one, I know it weren't advertised as if you would ever be able to do it but when you got a tiny taste of it, it just kind of felt like you were missing it. Also Naginatas with their own skill tree would be awesome.
Where is Iki Island in the main Ghost of Tsushima story? At the end of the game or between one of the Acts?

From what I've read the PS5 version gets native 4K, rather than checkerboard. I will be curious to see if there are any additional graphical enhancements, hopefully digital Foundry does in analysis
They already did and basically proved this is a blatant cash grab. Stick with back-compat and save $30. All significant improvements are in free update.
@@GameChronicles the game is now 2160p instead of 1800 p. Combined with the huge new island, the haptic feedback implementation, and the other updates the game as well worth $30 on PS5. Especially since you can pick up the bass PS4 game for around $20. It's a no-brainer.
@@GameChronicles You won't save $30, you will save only $10 if you buy the DLC without the PS5 upgrade and you will also miss out on true next gen features like adaptive triggers and haptic feedback which adds a lot to the experience. If you allready have a PS5 and choose to get the $20 PS4 DLC version you're gonna miss out only to save a lousy $10 bucks
@@bdre5555 I already bought the game for $60 when it launched. Basically trying to make me REBUY it for insignificant next-gen improvement. Even Digital Foundry said it’s not worth it unless you enjoy flushing money.
@@GameChronicles for me the huge New Island, the resolution bump, and the great haptics make it worth it. The haptics truly are outstanding, this is not one of the best haptic feedback PS5 games. Something not being mentioned is that the menus are super Snappy, like way more so than they were before. It's like the menu system on Rift apart. Worth every penny.

I just played this game for the first time on PS5 and I got that feeling back when I played Shenmue on Dreamcast when it first came out like this game is the beginning of a née era of video games.
I think this may be the best pleasant surprise i have had in gaming. I didnt know about it until it was already out so i dove right in. I didnt play the multiplayer until about a couple months ago. Such good Shizzle

Just going to point out that the "cherry blossom forest" that you mention at 9:22 is actually a wisteria forest.
I was always wondering why it didn't expand into what happened to Jins father. All we knew is some shmuk wounded him and he begged his young son for help before getting finished off.
So this either means Jin was remembering the situation in the worst way possible (blaming himself for not saving his father even tho his father was fully armored and still fell so what hope did he have?) or his father was more fo a piece of shit than we all thought.
also didn't they state that Lord Shimura himself personally hunted down the man who killed Kazumasa meaning that Tenzo shouldn't even be alive. i think that's a massive plothole they've overlooked unless Shimura killed the wrong man.

the game is $125 AUD AAA games are $90 so $35 for DLC and 60fps 3d audio and 4k resolution the DLC I would pay $10 but $25 for stuff the console is supposed to do for free that's why we bought the console to preform at that level not put it behind a paywall

Best DLC ive ever played. The Dualsense support and 3D audio is so good and the story beat my expectations. It’s a delight for us fans.
Never actually played this game originally because of my PS4 sounding like a jet engine and I have always had so much else to play now that I have my PS5 so never got around to playing this though I definitely intend to at some point. This PS5 Directors Cut is certainly the place to jump in and I will eventually, I don't want to leave it too late to where it will be too late to get into the Multiplayer but right now just is not the time. Funnily enough you may know the game that has been keeping me busy as of late.....
Metal Gear Solid V. Got into replaying it there last week and I am having so much fun with it. Started a new file on my PS5 and it has been great fun so far. Even rewatched your review on the game and a couple of the codecs just while taking breaks playing the game. MGSV was one of my most played PS4 games to my surprise once I checked via my PS5 at 300+ hours despite never getting close to 100% completion. Metal Gear Solid has always been my favourite game franchise and V to date was the only main game, Including Peace Walker that I had never played from start to finish more than once and I am glad that I have jumped back into V as it has been lots of fun, The game obviously has its issues but man is it so fun to play, so many possibilities and I love how you are continuously progressing throughout the game. Anyways back to Motherbase :)

@@daviddesrosiers1946 you realize the dlc costs 20 dollars? And then an additional 10 to upgrade to Ps5, you only need to pay 70 dollars if you don't own Ghost of Tsushima, but if you already own it then the DLC is 20 dollars, 30 if you want a Ps5 upgrade

Bought and played directors cut game for the first time, and it never occurred to me that sucker punch could've locked out all the outfits and charms. Just a seamless experience.

I did enjoy this game and bought it at launch but that's an incredibly steep price for this amount of new content (especially when something like Death Stranding's Director's Cut will only be $10)
I will probably hold off on upgrading to see if it will ever get a discount
