Dwight Howard wasn't much better than Rudy Gobert. He just played in a weak Eastern Conference. Ya'll aren't ready for that conversation yet though with how many of you would volunteer to be D12's escort for an evening.

Howard was a much better offensive player and way more athletic with about the same impact defensively they’re both all time great defenders but prime Dwight was definitely better I like Rudy tho & believe he doesn’t receive the respect he deserves he’s a hall of famer fs

@@jalynjones9136 Howard was a limited offensive player who relied almost exclusively on his athleticism to score in Orlando and dominated weak competition at the five, which is why he trailed off so much after the injuries set in while he was in LA and Houston. He didn't have any moves. I'm not saying Howard wasn't a better offensive player - he was, but not much better. Defensively they're comparable. Howard might have been a little better in that department. Regardless, my point stands - he wasn't much better than Gobert. These are the centers Howard faced leading up to the 2009 Finals - Samuel Dalembert, Kendrick Perkins (no KG, who was injured) and an old Big Z. That leaves a lot to be desired. I saw the man play in person more times than I can recall and he was generally underwhelming. Fans in Orlando always thought he would be more on the glorious end and Van Gundy even got Dwight to attempt little jumpers off glass for a while, but it didn't change anything and he stopped shooting them after a while.

@@jalynjones9136 Howard wasn't a much better offensive player, but he was definitely more athletic, I'll give you that. I saw him live many times here in Orlando, and no I'm not a hater - I couldn't care less about him leaving. It was time. Regardless, Dwight in his prime was dealing with the likes of old Shaq, banged up Yao, banged up Bynum, old Big Z, Dalembert, Okafor, Perkins, etc... We talk about Shaq's competition at the five being weak from 2000-2002, but good god - what about Howard's competition at center from 2008-2010? Rudy has had to deal with much tougher assignments and I'm, once again, not saying he's better than Howard, but he's not far behind.
