Ive defended gobert since we traded for him. Now hes got his defense back and I love watching people eat their words.
I've liked him since he won his first DPOY. So many people saying he doesn't do anything and he's a bad player. A lot of people don't understand defense its not just blocks and steals. Target Center crowd has been giving Rudy ovations after possessions where he doesnt record an offical stat cause they're seeing how he's effecting things that dont make ESPN highlight clips. So is the Wolves bench.
@@bigbangbasketballI don't think he can really. He just doesn't have the touch. He's still a positive offensively and is efficient. Great at setting screens and great lob threat.
I feel like if you have Gobert you should construct a crazy defensive team he’s one of the best paint defenders of all time, which is what the wolves have done. As a wolves fan and basketball fan in general defense is one of my favorite things to watch. That Gobert sequence against OKC is one of my favorite highlights of all time!😂 this team has two top level scorers (ANT&KAT) and a bunch of guys who can pass, shoot, and play defense. If we stay healthy we could legitimately make a run this season (not saying we will but we definitely could) and the crazy part about this is that the past two games without ANT we have stayed competitive and gotten some hard fought wins, games we would’ve lost in the past we’re winning and we’re coming in and taking care of business against teams we should beat. Overall I couldn’t be more proud of the wolves this season, the last time we were relevant I was 3 years old lol. So far this is the most excited I’ve been for the wolves, just praying they keep it up!😂 might’ve given up a lot for Gobert but the players we gave up weren’t that good and if we’re solid for the next 3 or so years our draft picks won’t hold much value, all I know is I’m excited to see what this team can do!
100% with you bro! As a wolves fan, I agree with everything you said. I am cherishing the moment right now but also believe we could make a deep run. If we can get the offense rolling with Ant, KAT, and Jaden it’s going to get really scary for the West
Rudy had groin and back issues affecting his defensive mobility a lot, on top of the raw chemistry last year. It's all fixed now, and Gobert can dominate even more with an actual capable defensive personnel in Minnesota.
I am amazed by how deep your analysis went into this team. I have been a Wolves fan since ‘95, and it’s great to see people doing deep dives into their players and stats. Officially subscribed.
In Utah I may have been the only guy that didn't hate gobert. The jazz was poorly constructed and the criticism of him not being able to switch on the perimeter was stupid to me because embiid can't do it either. Not many centers can actually defend all positions. Jazz made him look bad on defence and on offense. Rudy was covering everyone in Utah since nearly no one could stay in front of their man. And on offense, they use his screens but only pass him the ball when they're forced to.
Ya people forget that those Jazz teams had the #1 offensive rating in the NBA. Just a roster loaded with one-dimensional players who neglected defense. It was honestly impressive that Gobert could drag those Jazz teams to a top 10 defense on his own.
The team was built to emphasize Gobert's strengths and other players (ahem) thought they should be the star, and that the team should be built to emphasize their strength of driving to the rim. That was the big problem in Utah. Donovan wanted to do his thing and Rudy was in the way, so when it came time for Rudy to do his thing, Donovan decided he was going to not help Rudy on the other end of he floor. I think one day after they're both retired, that we'll find out that the agents at CAA wanted to build a marquee New York Knicks team to rival Rich Paul's Klutch Sports in the LA. and I know this is tin foil hat stuff, but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find out that Donovan threw the series in Dallas to help get Brunson a better contract with the Knicks, and force the Jazz to break up the team and send him back to New York. The performance Donovan gave in the Dallas series was the worst of his career and didn't seem like he was even trying.
The Rudy Gobert trade was decent. The Jazz picked up Beasley, Vanderbilt, Beverley and Kessler and some picks. By the end of the season, only rookie Walker Kessler and the picks were still in Utah. Also mid season, the Jazz picked up a second round pick for all star guard Mike Conley and Nickeil Alexander Walker. So the net value of the trade for the Jazz was Walker and some picks, for Minnesota they got two all stars, NAW, and unloaded some players they didn't want while retaining McDaniels (who the Jazz actually wanted). The problem last season for Gobert is that people don't really watch Utah, and didn't really see how the Jazz moved on from former 3rd pick Derrick Favors, and built their team around emphasizing Gobert's strengths while hiding his deficiencies. Gobert is not a player you can simply plug into any system and expect the output he had in Utah. He's an incomplete player that can cover 80% of a team's defensive duties, but really needs help to be effective on offense, and really needs his team to pick up the other 20% on defense. The Conley trade made Gobert better offensively because Conley knows how to make it work. Once you have a culture guy like Conley on your team, getting the rest of the team to buy in to the 20% of defense they need is fairly easy. KAT's defense has improved because he's not being asked to do as much, that's what makes Gobert such a good player that nobody seems to wrap their head around. The T'wolves now have All Star KAT, All Star Gobert, All Star Conley, and All Star Reserve Anthony Edwards. This team has a short window, but they are stacked.
Yup. Conley is the difference maker. Nobody else knew how to unlock Rudy on offense. And Dlo was hunted on D plus a ball stopper on O. Great analysis bro. You know ball
I may just be biased to the content but that was a great breakdown. Most NBA channels speak on emotion and never gather the facts and stats, you definitely deserve more subs.
People crap on Rudy for not having an offensive bag. He's arguably the most impactful defensive player of all time. One of the best lob threats in the league. Y'all should thank the heavens that Rudy doesn't have a handle and jumper. If he was nice in isolation on the perimeter we'd be looking at the best player of all time lmao.
KAT had an expression on his face after slapping Rudy on the back after last nites win that wasnt mugging for the camera or in front of his team. I was an expression of a guy who's fully realized what Rudy can do for him and where this team can go...There's a buy-in happening in that locker room.
Kat has always been a great supporter of Rudy coming to the wolves. It allows him to play at the 4 and even makes him shine in defense. They just have to make the spacing a little better.
Great video bro, I'm happy that Gobert is in a position to succeed. 110% so far this twolves team is better than those Jazz teams, actual perimeter defenders in ant, McDaniels, NAW and Slomo are actually helping out Gobert. Ant man > Mitchell.
the addition of subtraction of DLO helped as well. Dlo played no defense, iso ball too much and never connected with rudy, didnt learn how to pass to rudy in an effective manner as rudy has limitations in how he needs the ball placed for him and behind the scenes was known there was friction between them. And the biggest thing is Rudy was hurt all last year with his knee and back to start the year and never was able to heal it from the stress the international play put on it. It was an over pay but look how many years the Wolves have had all the high draft picks and it did nothing to improve them.
Dlo only puts out a good effort 2 out of 5 games. Picking up Gobert and Alexander- Walker Is easily worth some late first round picks. The defense improved immensely.
Dlo only puts out a good effort 2 out of 5 games. Picking up Gobert and Alexander- Walker Is easily worth some late first round picks. The defense improved immensely.
Honestly kind of a brilliant strategy for a guy who is considered an offensive mastermind (Connelly) to build a team who's identity is impenetrable defense... he can then take that defensive base and create a really solid offensive gameplan that works for his roster... and over the start to this season you can see how the offense has improved to match the defense... to where they are a top-5 scoring team, while still having that base of elite defense. It's pretty exciting to watch those guys gel. Still holding out hope that Shake... shakes out...
Me too on Shake. I thought he was gonna be nice. TBJ has been incredible with Jaden and Ant out though. May have found a hidden gem. You’re right. Finch is an offensive mastermind too so it’s awesome that this team’s identity is defense.
Awesome video man. Very well done! I don’t say this lightly and rarely comment. But this was awesome stuff. I love the Wolves and I enjoyed your style of commentary, pace, and overall feel. I see you’re just starting out but with this you can make it big. Good luck
Utah didn’t have good perimeter defense players in Utah so it made Rudy look bad. Minnesota is full of great perimeter defenders, that’s the difference.
The trade even at its worst last year wasn’t close to the PG13 trade as far as bad trades go. Besides, Wolves rebounded with the Mike Conley trade as well. The trade for Rudy is aging better and better.
Seems to me that people forget about this trade Same amount of 1st round draft picks(5) But they also traded SGA and Gallinari For Paul George By far worse then what the wolves gave up for Gobert
@@avihs2845 Yup, it goes under the radar for whatever reason. The players the wolves gave up are very replaceable, and then Kessler seems to have really regressed this year, and isn’t even starting.
He lacks the splash that attracts people to players that don't have a ton of measurable stats. Honestly I think the biggest reason he gets so much hate is that he's being paid for his contributions to winning, not because he puts up 30 points a night. It bothers me because a bunch of young scorers in this league get forgiven for playing losing basketball with good stats, and Rudy is a pariah because he got paid a max contract and then puts up a 9-12 statline (while being a +20)
Seriously. Loved this video! One thing that feels distinctly different this year vs previous ones is Rudy’s ability to guard on the perimeter too! Wasn’t a part of the Jazz years at all and if you watch each game this year, we will opt to switch up in coverage during PNR defense and IT WORKS. Handsomely. He’s on a whole other level this year.
You’re right. I didn’t include this in the video, but I was reading Jon Krawcyznski’s article from the Athletic (he’s the wolves beat reporter for them) and he was saying Finch came to Rudy this offseason and told him they were going to ask him to do that more this year. He said that he wanted Rudy to have an open mind to it and Rudy welcomed the change. Great added commentary!
Don't forget the Wolves got a 2nd player in that trade. That player is a great defensive gaurd who can shoot 3's. He is better than a late first round pick. Alexander-Walker. The Wolves have 3 elite defenders. Gobert, walker and McDaniels. McDaniels can gaurd almost anybody. Ant can defend also. Walker makes up for one of the draft picks they lost. Losing mid to late first round picks is no big deal.
I mentioned NAW later in the video. And how this wolves team is different because of elite perimeter Defense! Also NAW came in the DLo-Mike Conley trade. But yes you’re right!
Yes, I mixed that up about the trades. The Wolves resigning Reid, McDaniels and Towns started this turnaround along with the trade. They also have talent at the end of the bench in Garza as a scoring big and Minott and Miller as very athletic players. They can keep them or trade for picks
idk if this is it, but for me, when i got covid i was f***d for a year and a half afterwards. I do BJJ as a hobby, going to 3-4 classes weekly. After I recovered from covid, I couldn't get my wind back. My cardio was awful and wouldn't get better with exercise. It literally stayed like that for me for over a year. It did eventually recover, but i was struggling for a long time.
I think it was back issues, but maybe. Def not out of the realm of possibility. Something was def off with him and I’ve heard of people with long covid getting effed up like that for long periods of time. That absolutely sucks though. Glad you’re better now
I said it when he got traded and I'll say it again. Rudy was used as a scapegoat for the failures in Utah. They said that his feet were too slow to and that the team defense was struggling due to him being exploited on pick & rolls but it was almost always poor defense by the guards and poor rotations that put Rudy in bad situations. Rudy has quick feet and good movement for a guy his size and great positioning/awareness. I'm glad he is succeeding and I hope he gets his revenge on Utah in the playoffs.
Having Rudy on the team around good to great perimeter defenders just makes me wonder how awful those Utah perimeter defenders were. Like you have to be a traffic cone to look bad with Rudy as the anchor.
Great video. Timberwolves finally have great chemistry after 3 seasons of Ant, 1.5 seasons of Conley and 1 season of Rudy. Good job to the coaching staff to bring out the best in each player.
I always thought calling the Rudy Gobert trade the “worst trade ever” was ridiculous hyperbole and probably said mostly just to get engagement. Not enough people outside of Minnesota considered other factors on the team that would help them be successful.
It was always frustrating how people used to trash Rudy. It's like they would watch the offensive player walk by them and say, "Rudy got it". Oh no, the guard pointed at his teammate, "Guess I better switch" No fighting over screens or pre switching Gobert before the player comes up like Miami and GS do for Hero and Curry.
I saw a thinking basketball video on Rudy and it blew my mind. He was almost always making the right defensive play but his teammate wouldn’t rotate to cover where Rudy just was or they wouldn’t be in the right spot in general. However if the team lost, Rudy got most of the defensive blame. Good on Rudy for ignoring the hate and keep grinding for this team
Wolves won this trade. Vando, Beasley, and Beverley aren’t even with the Jazz anymore. Kessler had a decent rookie year but looks to have regressed his second year. The first round staggered picks will be late round picks that probably won’t pan out anyways. This Wolves team just needed time to gel and they’ll get better
Agreed. Plus let's not understate the importance of surrounding Ant and Jaden with a winning culture in their early 20's. Just look at the situation Cade is in right now.
Thank you for addressing Rudy Gobert covering up the Jazz’s lack of perimeter defense. It was always so annoying hearing people who didn’t watch the games talk about Rudy in the playoffs when he tried covering multiple spots.
I know right. So frustrating. Can always tell who watches the games closely and who doesn’t. Also there’s zero nuance on the national tv shows from the old heads. Guys like JJ and Richard Jefferson provide that nuance which is so nice to see
My thing is I never doubted his defense idk how people did. Just feel like he’s so bad offensively that u can scheme him off the floor. Also feel like defense wasn’t the reason twolves loss to Grizz
Agreed, but in Minnesota, it will be no problem to take him off for a bit if needed. That defense isn’t going to crumble. In Utah, it would. Plus his limitations on offense get covered up by KAT and Ant. Once KAT figures out spacing to the corner three more and more it’s going to be game over
bad offensively ? he's no kevin durant, won't beat anyone 1/1 etc..but just ask the hornets how they feel after last night? 10/12 shooting...countless great screens... terrible gravity that unlock many drives, 3pts shots etc etc...To me that's great offense
I can't say I'm a Gobert fan but I am french, I have been watching him for a long time and I really hate how terrible NBA media was to him (and how terrible it is in general). Only one guy noticed that the entire Jazz defense was made of traffic cones, really ? No one realized that getting thrown into a new team with a new system, another center, another identity, with more expectations than ever before and constant criticism, might lead to a disappointing season? I won't mention the injury stuff which we didn't know about but the bias against him was just sad.
JJ Redick has made First Take watchable. He's so sharp and willing to challenge the norms and bring nuance. I will never forget everyone begging the Wolves to trade KAT this offseason
Gobert never actually left, the Timberwolves just weren't using him effectively on defense last season. This season they've reworked their defense to center Gobert's rim protection like they should've been doing to begin with, and the result is the best defense in the NBA.
Rudy was hurt all last season. His back was really bothering him and thats one reason for his declining play last year. I also think him trying to fit into Finch's system was also a factor. Rudy is healthy now, and you can tell that he is just by the way he is moving on the court. The wolves have built a team of players that have bought into playing defense. Even KAT is playing the best defense of his career.
Im glad this team is building around Edwards and Gobert now. KAT has taken a major back seat this year. Showing that the fans were right and Timberwolves are one trade away from becoming a contender. And that trade will come at the expense of KAT.
KAT being okay with it this year has been key. And the nice thing is, whenever we need to get offense going, we go straight to KAT. It’s so nice to have him at our disposal for a bigger role when necessary. He’s been stellar this year and I can’t say many guys of his status would be okay with taking the role he has
Rudy got hate for the Jazz failures, but I’m here to say as a person who watched almost all their games. Rudy was the least to blame since without him their defense was trash he had to make up for the team’s short coming. On the offensive side there are hundreds of possessions where Rudy was wide open in the post but they never fed him the ball. Instead throw up bricks. Mitchel is a great star player but he sabotaged Rudy many times by being so selfish with the ball.
Rudy Gobert was, and most likely will be for the next view years, an alltime great post defender. Yes, the price was to high, pretty sure everyone knows this. Still he can anchor a championship level defense, as long as he doesnt have to do it alone. The Wolves already have a good younger core around him, so the addition makes sense, even if they overpayed. Lower 1st rounders are not that important to contending teams. But of course they have to win something with him in the next view years, or the opinion of the trade will be negative overall when everything is said and done.
Defense is always underestimated by people who don't know basketball, just because they can't understand the difficulty of what is to be done in this area of the game, especially in the NBA where the offense is so much favoured. I think people who know basketball, they might not like his style, but at least they know his efficiency. Problem is, in the media there are a lot of imposters, talking sh*t, just there to make some buzz.
I’m a jazz fan, you are high bro! He is doing exactly what he did in Utah! He’s not better or worse! It’s the exact same, it’s just because it’s Utah so everybody wants to hate lol
I made this video back in November when Rudy was on an absolute tear. He’s still DPOY easy, but he was coming off some insane weeks of defense. But I don’t think I was critical of his career in general at all. He was phenomenon Utah. I even stated how people get it wrong with critiquing him. Love me some Rudy. He just wasn’t good at all last year for the wolves comparative to the rest of his career. Super glad he’s back to himself.
but this is what minnesota wanted, to compete and try to win a championship with the core they have. I still think 5 or 4 first round picks is too much but its bad as what it was seen before
Hey im a wolves fan! You’re telling me haha. That was a part of it, but it was more than thought as well with Rudy specifically. He had to have been hurt. I’ve heard some MN insiders say he was playing at 60-70% last season. I’m just glad he wasn’t physically washed like we all were scared of
What resurrection? He joined a new team with a complete different system and yet kept 90% of his stats compared to the last 5 years in Utah. This doesn't show he got trouble, it just shows how competitive the NBA is.
He was awful by his standards last year, regardless of the new system. But yes, that was always the hope as Wolves fans. It wasn't 90% of his stats though. And if you watched him last year, he legit looked like he was 60-70%. MN Insiders were saying on a pod i listened to recently that he was for sure injured last season and not himself. Im just glad it wasn't a physical decline due to age. That was the worry
i think last year i heard Rudy was dealing with a back issue all season and was just trying to play through it.....sort of like Sabonis and his thumb. This is Rudy at full strength which is terrifying
Saying he has no offensive game whatsoever is a bit of a stretch. He might be one dimensional on offense but that doesn’t mean he isn’t effective around the rim, granted he doesn’t have much touch but being 7 foot has its perks
He looks fresh, and Chris Finch said they’ve been asking him to do stuff on the defensive end this year that he didn’t do much on Utah, like playing on the perimeter. It’s working, and it’s been so fun to see.
I was a hater to start not gonna lie. It didn’t seem that he was effectively being used and he was just kind of….there. I’ve loved Rudy for 4-5 years now and I am so glad I was wrong he’s been SO much fun to watch this season.
thankfully they got KAT and Rudy gelling. We all knew it was gonna take time and when KAT got hurt a majority of the season, we should have known it was going to take another season to truly see what is here
I liked the trade then I didn't like it because it was taking so long to gel. I like the trade again and what I expected to see I see it with this team Wolves fan since 1989
Only issue I've ever had with Gobert was his actions at the beginning of COVID, but other than that, he's been a solid player. Happy to see teams like Minnesota and Orlando stop being doormats.
The culture changed with Anthony Edwards taking over the team. How can you not want to play for a 22 year old superstar who does nothing but take blame and praise his teammates?
Think this trade looked so because how people value defense, today’s nba is so much about offense and defenders like Rudy get undervalued by pretty much everyone. With that said wolves probably still overpaid a bit but look at what this man is doing!
which is crazy because Rudy provides so much value is stopping an offensive driven league. Especially when you have Ant and Jaden who are incredible perimeter defenders as well.
All I can say to people trying to compare Timberwolves to Rudy success in Utah are dead wrong this team is far better than any team Utah had even with Karl Malone in Stockton dammit yeah I said it
Compared to losing 5 1st round picks for joe smith, this is awesome...and 4 1 st rounders is not ur entire future...especially when there every other year and we got assets....we went for it...I'd rather try and fail then not try at all. Go Wolves!
Is there some kind of new sheep mentality trend I missed? Like the one where everyone hated on Nickleback for no apparent reason? Because I see that from Gobert 😂 people just hate on him just because others do so.
He has always gotten undeserved hate imo. Mainly because it's not a sexy type of basketball. Nobody cares about defense. But he is absolutely incredible and was the scapegoat in Utah
@@hardwood_yt At least one championship. Sorry , but it was a ridiculous trade. How bad does It look in another 2-3 years when he's past his prime and Utah is filling up their roster with young talent.?Minnesota gave up an insane amount for him. He's s very good player. He's also more of a relic where everything is about speed and three point shooting. Utah was only going to trade him for FIVE first round picks for him? Kessler is already a good player. Thank you so much man. GO WOLVES
The jazz both over and utilized him. I remember the clippers series. That was when I knew the team wouldn’t last.
It was a poorly constructed roster for sure. If you have Rudy, identity has to be defense all around.
Both actually can switch! But Rudy wouldn't, because no one would help him, or do you really think Royce O'Neale could help in the interior?
Thanks man. I am a fan at heart and definitely not an expert at all, just trying to say what I see!
why he failed in Jazz is just because Mitchell, Conley and Clarkson just lazed as shit!!!
Never rotated correctly, never lowered body to defense
Conley sure plays his butt off for the Wolves. If you’re a jazz fan, I know the feeling. Like when Wiggins went to GS and suddenly tried hard.
Conley was hurt in one of the years if I remember correctly. It won’t happen with the wolves!
Lmfao facts
isn’t it wild that 5 wolves players are top 10 in defensive rating, finals bound
Lol we playing some real team defense
KAT had an expression on his face after slapping Rudy on the back after last nites win that wasnt mugging for the camera or in front of his team.
I was an expression of a guy who's fully realized what Rudy can do for him and where this team can go...There's a buy-in happening in that locker room.
Kat has always been a great supporter of Rudy coming to the wolves. It allows him to play at the 4 and even makes him shine in defense. They just have to make the spacing a little better.
KAT deserves all of the praise for how he's handled the last two seasons. This team is tightly knit and only cares about winning
Great video bro, I'm happy that Gobert is in a position to succeed. 110% so far this twolves team is better than those Jazz teams, actual perimeter defenders in ant, McDaniels, NAW and Slomo are actually helping out Gobert. Ant man > Mitchell.
100% agree lol
the addition of subtraction of DLO helped as well.
I believe getting conley was probably as good as getting rid of dlo
Facts
Spot on. You know ball
Dlo only puts out a good effort 2 out of 5 games. Picking up Gobert and Alexander- Walker
Is easily worth some late first round picks. The defense improved immensely.

I always loved Rudy.
I miss him, and I’m happy to see him ballin out so hard.
Yessir. I can’t imagine the emotional toil he’s taken over the past year either. Gotta get in your head like crazy.
So glad he’s back
Honestly kind of a brilliant strategy for a guy who is considered an offensive mastermind (Connelly) to build a team who's identity is impenetrable defense... he can then take that defensive base and create a really solid offensive gameplan that works for his roster... and over the start to this season you can see how the offense has improved to match the defense... to where they are a top-5 scoring team, while still having that base of elite defense.
Good luck
This seriously means the world to me. Thank you so much bro.
Utah didn’t have good perimeter defense players in Utah so it made Rudy look bad. Minnesota is full of great perimeter defenders, that’s the difference.
Absolutely. I believe I said that in the video. You’re correct
The trade even at its worst last year wasn’t close to the PG13 trade as far as bad trades go. Besides, Wolves rebounded with the Mike Conley trade as well. The trade for Rudy is aging better and better.
Seems to me that people forget about this trade
Same amount of 1st round draft picks(5)
But they also traded SGA and Gallinari
For Paul George
By far worse then what the wolves gave up for Gobert
@@avihs2845 Yup, it goes under the radar for whatever reason. The players the wolves gave up are very replaceable, and then Kessler seems to have really regressed this year, and isn’t even starting.
@@henrybodem448agreed. The players that the wolves gave up wouldn't even make this year's team 8 man rotation.
I just did a video on the OKC Thunder rebuild so it's funny you mention that :)
He lacks the splash that attracts people to players that don't have a ton of measurable stats. Honestly I think the biggest reason he gets so much hate is that he's being paid for his contributions to winning, not because he puts up 30 points a night. It bothers me because a bunch of young scorers in this league get forgiven for playing losing basketball with good stats, and Rudy is a pariah because he got paid a max contract and then puts up a 9-12 statline (while being a +20)
You’re right. Couldn’t agree more
They also have talent at the end of the bench in Garza
as a scoring big and Minott and Miller as very athletic players.
Well put together video, with great commentary. Automatic sub
Thank you so much!! It helps that I’m a wolves fan 🤣
Having Rudy on the team around good to great perimeter defenders just makes me wonder how awful those Utah perimeter defenders were. Like you have to be a traffic cone to look bad with Rudy as the anchor.
Terrible lol
very good video, super underrated channel!
Hey I appreciate this bro! Pretty sure we follow each other on twitter haha
Yes we do lol i seen your post so had to check out the progress looking good bro keep crushing it.@@hardwood_yt
Great video. Timberwolves finally have great chemistry after 3 seasons of Ant, 1.5 seasons of Conley and 1 season of Rudy. Good job to the coaching staff to bring out the best in each player.
Yessir!!! Thank you!
Rudy Gobert stay healthy this seasons & back his DPOY FORM 💪🔥💪
Yup!
Great video dude
Thank you bro! That means a ton
Great commentary on a perplexing subject. Thanks.
Thank you!
Damn, playing well can really shut people up quick

Would love to see a Nuggets-Wolves West Finals, tbh.
That would be epic…
No fucking way in hell Minnesota is making it to the conference finals.
That shit is goofy.
Great video and analysis!
Thanks man!
I always thought calling the Rudy Gobert trade the “worst trade ever” was ridiculous hyperbole and probably said mostly just to get engagement. Not enough people outside of Minnesota considered other factors on the team that would help them be successful.
Super bad hyperbole. Go wolves :)
Rudy Rudy Rudy Rudy …. Out for vengeance
👀👀
That list of top defensive ratings had 5 Minnesota players
Muy buen video amigo.
Great video my bro.
Thank you bro!
Rudy realizes this timberwolves team is prolly going to be the next dynasty. AnT Ed took his game to near max level.
facts
Draymond choking him woke him up 😂😂
Lmfaooo
Rudy heard all about a new Lightskin Frenchman who was supposed to replace him and had to power up😂
lmao
Exactly
Im glad this team is building around Edwards and Gobert now. KAT has taken a major back seat this year. Showing that the fans were right and Timberwolves are one trade away from becoming a contender. And that trade will come at the expense of KAT.
KAT being okay with it this year has been key. And the nice thing is, whenever we need to get offense going, we go straight to KAT. It’s so nice to have him at our disposal for a bigger role when necessary.
He’s been stellar this year and I can’t say many guys of his status would be okay with taking the role he has
Well let's see in playoffs 🤣🤣🤣
let's :)
1:16 I didnt realize this until now but 5 of the top 10 in defensive rating are all T-Wolves. And KAT is number 2. Wtf is going on.
You know ball
SAINT EIFFEL TOWER!!!
Agreed. Plus just think about the confidence this is bringing Ant and Jaden at such a young age vs a situation like Cade in Detroit
Through the wireeeeeeeeee
No fricken way lmfao what up Pee Wee!
Is it crazy for me to say I never doubted the gobert trade. Even in 2k their lineup looked stacked and underrated for me.
Lmao good on you bro! It was the popular thing to do in 2022/2023
Sorry Rudy. I apologize. Lol
lolol
Wemby’s offense + Gobert’s defense= best big man ever
lol for sure
Defense is always underestimated by people who don't know basketball, just because they can't understand the difficulty of what is to be done in this area of the game, especially in the NBA where the offense is so much favoured. I think people who know basketball, they might not like his style, but at least they know his efficiency. Problem is, in the media there are a lot of imposters, talking sh*t, just there to make some buzz.
Straight facts man.
I still think 5 or 4 first round picks is too much but its bad as what it was seen before
Exactly, Utah was a terrible defense because nobody except Rudy could guard his man to save their lives.
Wow, it is like you need sometime to get use to a team!! Check out Tom Brady with SB Champions TB. They were a wild card, that ended up wining the SB.
Hey im a wolves fan! You’re telling me haha. That was a part of it, but it was more than thought as well with Rudy specifically. He had to have been hurt. I’ve heard some MN insiders say he was playing at 60-70% last season.
I’m just glad he wasn’t physically washed like we all were scared of
I have always a defender of Gobert skills and in utah he was looked upon to defend ALL of the opposing team because he has no help in the defence
This is Rudy at full strength which is terrifying
you are correct for sure
so good video, thanks
thank you!
Idk how the healthy Gordon Hayward team never won a ring
prime Gordon Hayward was a dawg
Saying he has no offensive game whatsoever is a bit of a stretch. He might be one dimensional on offense but that doesn’t mean he isn’t effective around the rim, granted he doesn’t have much touch but being 7 foot has its perks
did i say that? He doesn't have a reliable hook or push shot, but he is a monster on oops lol
Yeah the wolves have a way better defense. Rudy doesn’t have to over exert himself. Also, his offensive play looks better these days.
He looks fresh, and Chris Finch said they’ve been asking him to do stuff on the defensive end this year that he didn’t do much on Utah, like playing on the perimeter.
It’s working, and it’s been so fun to see.
I’m surprised how he played that bad but kinda expected when you go to another team with a whole different system
yup plus he was playing hurt
Rudy is the 🐐
All I said was the trade is awful if we can't win or compete for chips. Hopefully this trade is good tho as a wolves fan 😤😤😤
Agreed. Here’s to hoping we keep this up!
We all knew it was gonna take time and when KAT got hurt a majority of the season, we should have known it was going to take another season to truly see what is here
Exactement les haters de Rudy sont tellement en PLS en se moment qu'ils n'arrive plus à le basher.
People thought the wolves traded there future . The futures ant and Jaden and naz and l Miller? . Yes l miller
Agreed.
I liked the trade then I didn't like it because it was taking so long to gel. I like the trade again and what I expected to see I see it with this team Wolves fan since 1989
we always knew it was gonna take time. When Kat went down last year, the season was a wash. Im so happy we are figuring it out.
Only issue I've ever had with Gobert was his actions at the beginning of COVID, but other than that, he's been a solid player. Happy to see teams like Minnesota and Orlando stop being doormats.
Indiana too :)

All I can say to people trying to compare Timberwolves to Rudy success in Utah are dead wrong this team is far better than any team Utah had even with Karl Malone in Stockton dammit yeah I said it
I like gobert for the 99.9% percent of who he is and what he does. The only thing I didn't like was his covid actions at that time.
that was tough lol
Compared to losing 5 1st round picks for joe smith, this is awesome...and 4 1 st rounders is not ur entire future...especially when there every other year and we got assets....we went for it...I'd rather try and fail then not try at all. Go Wolves!
you know ball if you're talking about Joe Smith haha
Is there some kind of new sheep mentality trend I missed? Like the one where everyone hated on Nickleback for no apparent reason? Because I see that from Gobert 😂 people just hate on him just because others do so.
He has always gotten undeserved hate imo. Mainly because it's not a sexy type of basketball. Nobody cares about defense. But he is absolutely incredible and was the scapegoat in Utah
It's still a terrible trade
what would need to happen for it to be a good trade for you?
@@hardwood_yt At least one championship. Sorry , but it was a ridiculous trade. The only difference now is The Timberwolves are healthy with their whole team from the start.
So the Fake Sport Media and CZcams Irrelevant Noise was just wrong in thinking getting defense to add to your 2 Young Star wasn't important.
You’re going to tell me Gobert had a good defensive season last year without Kat? They only play like 20 games together btw.

Bottom line, I’m a wolves fan. Not a fake sports troll lmao. Rudy was about 60-70% of himself last season. We were very concerned because he was 30 and we just paid a ton for him.
Worry was that he was beginning a decline.
I’m amped that it was just a fluke and he’s back to his normal self.
As for the sentiments of Rudy from before that in Utah, I was pretty clear in the video that I didn’t think they were fair and that he was an absolute stud with awful perimeter defenders around him.
So I’m not sure what exactly we are arguing about lmfao.
