Hello DonVon_ ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me.
Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This live recording is from Buenos Aires in December 2012, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band. At that moment, Floor was in the band for just about 2 and a half months, joining them as an emergency replacement in the middle of a world tour, when their previous singer couldn't perform anymore for health reasons.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

Just a heads up DonVon. At the point of this performance Floor Jansen was a last minute replacement singer and was just five months with the band. It was the start of something very very special ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥

Check out the Wacken 2013 performance of this song. One of the last concerts of this world tour. At the point Floor had been with the band for 10 months, still not yet a permanent member.
But by that point she had truly began to make their songs into her songs. The Wacken 2013 performance of Ghost Love Score is 10X greater than the 1 you just watched, both in energy, and in Floor's vocal performance.
@@DonVon Actually, just a little over two months with the band at this point (Oct 1st 2012 to Dec 2012) and she had already extended the ending to this song. That final vocal part didn't exist in the original version. In October, 2012 she appeared on stage at the Sodobox in Seattle to sing a full setlist with 48 hours notice and not knowing the songs beforehand. She went from her sisters wedding in the Netherlands to being on stage in Seattle, singing songs she had never heard before, in the space of 48 hours. Ya, she's that good.
Every song with Nightwish is different. To quote Forrest Gump, Nightwish is like a box of chocolates as you never know what you're gonna get. Floor Jansen (Dutch), the lead singer here, can swing from opera to death growls in the span of a single note. The joke is: other singers sing what they can, Floor sings what she wants.

Finally someone reacting to this version of the epic "Ghost Love Score". This was the first official video featuring Floor Jansen: as a longtime Nighwish fan I remember watching this for the first time with my finger crossed, hoping this new singer to be at least capable of singing the latest songs. Boy, after the first chorus I was blown away. I immediately forgot Anette and already dreaming about the immense potential for this talent to bring back the good old NW songs from back in the days. Good times! I can't believe it was 11 years ago!
This is the best version! I can say I actually sometimes prefer it over Tarja's "End of an Era" version and that version is great.

Great reaction!! Nightwish is a very deep rabbit hole, where every song is different with unexpected twists and turns. Virtuoso musicians, a genius songwriter (Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player whom many call the "metal Mozart" is a master of emotion and melody), and the best lead singer alive today (Floor Jansen can sing anything, from operatic highs to full metal growls) - and bassist Marco Hietala is a metal legend and also has an incredible voice (and when he sings harmony with Floor - it is pure gold). Their studio tracks are great, but their live performances are phenomenal, Nightwish is one of the best live bands of all time. I've never heard a bad song from them (at least not live with Floor). To get a sample of their diversity I highly recommend any of these live performances, which are some of my personal favorites: (From Wacken 2013): Romanticide, Storytime, Ghost River, Amaranth, Song Of Myself, Last Ride Of The Day, Ever Dream; (From Wembley 2015): 7 Days To The Wolves, Yours Is An Empty Hope, Nemo, Elan, My Walden, While Your Lips Are Still Red, Shudder Before The Beautiful, The Poet And The Pendulum; (From Tampere 2015): Sleeping Sun, The Islander; (From Buenos Aires 2018): I Want My Tears Back, Dead Boys Poem, Devil And The Deep Dark Ocean; (From Tampa): Sahara; (From Hellfest 2022): Tribal, How's The Heart.
The whole Wacken concert is available - at least for now - on CZcams. Absolute fire, right from the opening notes of "Dark Chest of Wonders". Floor stood in front of 82,000 metal heads, most of whom had paid to hear somebody else . . . and won them over in the first 30 seconds. A 6'1" goddess with a voice that can soar over a thundering metal band, and the stage presence of a Freddie Mercury. There's nobody even remotely like her.
You are not So wrong. Nightwish are Vampires of Emotions and musical perfection. And with the VALKYRIE QUEEN Floor Jansen.

I've been Nightwish fan since '98. Welcome to world of Nightwish there is plenty to react over 70 live songs avaible in youtube. And few non-live rare gems to add to those.
One of my favourite parts of the shows from the end of this tour is hearing the crowd explode after Floor hits that last note. The last few lines were never heard before Floor started to ad lib them in rehearsals. They weren't on the record that way, the previous lead singers never added those parts, so the fans hearing something so powerful, so amazing added to a song they'd already known for years just added to its magic. ❤
You have already been told that the singer, Floor Jansen, had only been with the band ten weeks as she replaced the previous singer mid tour with 48 hours to learn the setlist and flying from The Netherlands to the USA to perform in Seattle. This song was no longer on the setlist as the previous singer couldn't sing it. But they brought it back as she liked it and could sing it with ease adding the final belt. That's why the crowd were chanting "Floor" at the end because they didn't expect to hear this song.

And to think this is not even the best live performance of this song is mind blowing.

I saw them live at Wembley in November 2022 and it was the most amazing experience. To hear more from them, I suggest you follow Gabriel's list or pick and mix from it. I have followed Nightwish for some time now and have just about every Nightwish recording, live and studio and not a single track I don't like.

This isn't that particular version as Miss Floor Jansen-(Yan-sen) was still new to Nightwish.
There is a wealth of songs by Nightwish dating back to 1996. Each is different and it becomes diffficult to have a favorite.

Hello DonVon_ ! I have been a fan of Nightwish for more than 20 years. I bought their second album when I was an 8 year old little goth. Nightwish has a relatively small following in America but what you said about it being 'wild' and 'very tight' is absolutely true. The band is very popular in South America and Europe. Those concerts there are crazy! Concerts in America(or at least in Chicago) are a lot more chill and go COMPLETELY silent when the music because we respect the music THAT much. Part of the genius of Nightwish is that its songs are arranged with both music and theatric aspects. This song is written about the stages you go through while falling in love, and is written like a play, with several acts/songs-within-a-song, an intermission, and a theme that is repeated throughout(the same phrase sung by the choir in the background)
Your journey has begun. This is a once upon a century experience. Run with us all.

Amazingly, this is not even the best recording of them performing this song - most people would say that's Wacken 2013 - but I reckon this is the best audience (South American NW fans always show the rest of us how it's done). Hello dear reactor :) Sorry for late comment, I watched your Nightwish Storytime reaction not long ago. This version of Ghost Love Score also hits me. Especially look at Jukka's drumming his style. I love it. I am glad to see people finding Nightwish, Tuomas' (keyboards) creation. He is our metal Mozart, he writes and composes these beautiful songs and I desperately wait for their new album 2024. I have all their studio albums since 1996 including that very rare Collector's Edition version CD. But that drummer, Jukka...long time ago when I saw his drumming, I bougth few bandanas and weared ever since. You just jumped rabbit hole of Nightwish. I tell you, I was at their live concert 16th June this year, at Vaasa city, Finland. That was...I never ever forget that. When driving back home...I had to stop couple of times. And I was just sitting in my car quietly...what did I just experienced. If you ever have a chance seeing them live, go! After Nightwish release their new album, they will be touring again, and I have so serious plans to go seeing them live again. Keep going reactor, so nice to watch these kind of react videos.

Excellent reaction and commentary. Nightwish is best served up live. Few bands can live up to their studio work while performing on a live stage. There are no bad Nightwish songs. Tuomas (keyboards, founder, composer) will not write a filler song. The concert with the best video, audio and mix is the Wacken 2013 concert as they were cutting a dvd.
