As an American, man I wish we had a eurovision type thing for the states. Every state has a contender. Also, it surprised me when I first saw it how much english is used in the contest. To be fair: my public school was fine and we had to learn all European countries and their capitals, but that was back in the 70s/80s. I didn’t care to learn the new ones in the 90s, so ESC was helpful for me, too. At least I know now a bit about Moldovia 😎
