  • The Ai-1 Airbag Vest and In&Box DPP (Detect-Protect-Perfect) platform is the first continually evolving motorcycle protection technology driven by artificial intelligence. The In&Box detection module offers unprecedented crash sensitivity through continuous algorithm updates. The Ai-1 vest is comfortable and low-profile for use with any riding jacket, and is one of the highest rated motorcycle airbag systems available. Ride protected by the smartest system in motorcycle airbag technology.
FAQ about the In&motion system and services:
1: Do I have to subscribe to an In&motion detection mode for this vest to work?
Answer: No. You can either buy the service outright, or choose from a monthly or annual subscription model. The goal with offering a subscription model is to lower the initial financial barrier to using an airbag vest. After 3-4 years (depending on which modes you choose) the subscription cost matches the outright purchase cost. Choose what works best for you.
    2. If I don’t want a monthly or annual subscription, can I still get this airbag vest?
Answer: Yes. You can purchase the vest and algorithm service outright and not have to worry about subscriptions.
    3. If I suspend/pause my subscription and forget to reactivate it, will the vest still detect a crash and inflate?
Answer: No, because in the first place you won’t be able to turn it on into ride-ready status before your ride. It will not “trick” you into thinking it’s active when it is not, because the LED indicators will warn you that it’s not active. If you ignore the LED indicators warning you that the airbag isn’t active, you can’t expect it to work when you’re not actively subscribed.
    4. If I’m subscribed monthly and miss a payment or my credit card expires, will the airbag suddenly stop working?
Answer: No. In&motion will reach out with a 30-day warning prior to your payment method expiration. After expiration or missed/forgotten payment, In&motion gives you a 30-day grace period during which the airbag functions completely the same. You will receive notifications about the missed payment. After the 30-day grace period, the airbag will stop detecting crashes until payment is resumed. You will not be able to turn on your airbag vest into ride-ready status after the 30-day grace period, so you won’t unknowingly ride with a non-functioning vest, unless you choose to ignore the LED indicators warning that it isn’t active.
    5. Would In&motion turn off my vest mid-ride if I pass the 30-day grace period?
Answer: No. In&motion will not turn off your vest mid-ride for any reason, even if you’re at the end of the 30-day grace period and it elapses during your ride. The only way for it to turn off during a ride is if you didn’t charge the In&box and the battery dies (LEDs indicate battery level, which you see when you turn it on) or if you manually turn it off during your ride.

Wait wait wait. So let's say I've payed my subscription month after month after month. But something happens, and I'm unable to pay. So, if I were to get into an accident, the vest wouldn't activate, and I'd be scraped off the side of the road, and it'd be your fault. Not to mention that this subscription service is promoted as you saving money, as a lot of vests cost more. But time will come when you'll have spent all that money anyway, and then, effectively, you'll be spending even more.

    • @KlimUSA
      @KlimUSA  Před 3 lety +22

If payment isn’t completed, In&motion will actively notify you about the issue. Your airbag will continue working normally for 30 days failed payment. After those 30 days, you actually won’t be able to turn your vest on without an error indication on the LEDs, warning you that it’s not ready for riding. Only then, if you choose to ignore those warnings and wear a clearly non-functioning airbag, would you face the situation of not having an activation during a crash. Even if you’re at the end of the 30-day grace period, In&motion turn the airbag module off during your ride.
When it comes to subscription or one-time purchase, both options are available. The entire “subscription payment problem” situation can be avoided by simply buying the detection module outright. Both options have merits and drawbacks. For example, the subscription options entitle you to a new In&box detection module after a few years. Think of it like leasing a car, you’re always making payments but getting a newer vehicle more often. The one-time purchase option doesn’t get you a new module after a few years, just like buying and owning a cell phone. You own the product, but as technology develops you’ll eventually have outdated tech on your hands. When you buy any airbag vest without an upgrade plan built into it, your $800 product will inevitably become outdated. When you lease the In&box detection module, your technology updates are built into the cost and spread out over time, so you’re not faced with another $400-$800 expense 3-4 years down the road. Choose whatever option works best for you.

Well I think that subscriptions can make the vest a lot cheaper, instead a selling it at a very high price with like a 300$ to recharge it in case of an accident (like Dainese's doing), kinda works like an assurance does I believe. Now I still think that It cost a lot but atm you can’t really do anything about it cause no assurance compagnies assure it yet (they are waiting to see how much money they’ll make doing so) and not a lot a people are wearing a airbag vest so it’s not very industrialized (the more they’ll make the less it will cost to produce individually).
One big critic I’ll make to this vest and to most airbag vest out there is that I don’t see any airbag protection for the shoulder or for your side ribs, it’s really only the front and back which is not always where you will be hit the hardest…
which is why I will buy the *[Alpinestars Tech-Air 5 System]
      *
      • Covers *shoulders*, chest, *ribs* and full back
      • Maximum inflation time of 20-40ms based on the volume of the airbag size
      • *Decreases impact force by 95% compared to a passive protector*
      • Includes argon gas canisters
      • Highly ventilated back protector
Only cost about 150$ to recharge to vest the first 3 times (then300$), no subscription
, $699.95 for the vest itseft.
If you hit those metal beams on one of those Highway Metal Beam Crash Barrier (idk if that's how you call them in english) better to have a vest protecting your ribs as well
      .
Saw a few crashes where the guy hits one of those or something similar and it had hit their ribs (so below the armpits), breaking them and sending them right into one or more of their vital organs, so ribs protection is a must.

They could have had more options to keep the people on the monthly fee, like legally binding contracts. But literally making their lives depend on it is in my opinion stupid.

They can't be bothered so I'll tell you. If you crash at any kind of significant speed there's no advantage in terms of safety. Those electronic vests might have a better response time at low speeds, since the response time of the lanyard is based on how fast you're flying off the bike. You're better off in finding a vest that inflates well around the neck and shoulder area rather than looking at the deployment system. In terms of user comfort it depends whether it's more of a hassle for you to charge the box before every ride or keep attaching and detaching every time you get on and off the bike.

What is currently happening is incredible. I buy the vest and the module (yes, it is included in the package), but I have to buy a subscription in order for it to actually work and save my life?! Imagine buying a car that comes with an airbag, but it can be enabled only if you pay a monthly or annual subscription or another 400$ in order for it to be activated. Not even Tesla does that.
I think safety is one of the things that you must not get greedy on, and make safety equipment affordable to everybody. Because if you save the life of your customer, that customer will continue buying from you. The basic idea is that Klim (and other companies that implement this In & Motion aberration) only want your money, and not a single f*** is given for the riders safety. I understand that innovation requires money, but if you have went with the "sell cheap(er) but in larger quantities, I believe it would have been a win-win. You make smaller profit/unit but sell larger quantities and have cheaper production costs, clients live to see another day and will continue to be your clients in the future. Everyone is complaining about the subscription, but you're not thinking about it correctly.
Algorithmically driven computer systems have the potential for exponential improvement over time. Especially if the hardware is robust enough.
It is very difficult to have zero false triggers and the maximum number of appropriate triggers so as more data is gathered and the algorithms are refined, they can be incrementally updated.
If this company is legitimate and dedicated to the long-term improvement of this product, this is the only business model that allows them to continue to improve something rather than just replacing it every few years. They could do either, but from a consumer and environmental perspective this is better in my estimation.

Only thing for me is the airbag will only deploy in a head on collision and only at certain angles... No highside/lowside protection unless you pay extra for the track pack and no rear end protection if your are hit at a stop light...
