He's not just an alternate Batman, he's an alternate Man Bat.
He's Michael Morbius

Is morbius a marvel character?
@@juanavelar8093 Yes, Dr. Michael Morbius P.H.D was born in Greece suffering from a rare blood disease since his childhood so he became a Nobel prize winning biochemist. He developed experimental treatment involving vampire bats and electroshocks, not only curing his disease but also turning himself into a living vampire, giving him red eyes, chalk white skin, nasal structure distorted, fangs, flight, increased strength, speed and stamina, endurance, echolocation, hypnosis, disease-immunity (even corona) and an insatiable thirst for blood which led him to rise to fame as "Morbius the Living vampire." as one of Spider-Man's greatest enemies. So you see, this universe version of Kirk Langstrom is meant to represent Marvel's Michael Morbius.
By the way, Jared Leto's portrayal of Morbius is what caused the coronavirus in the Wuhan caves on 31'st Dec 2019
He is manbatman
@@juanavelar8093 Yes!
He is a spiderman villain.
I like how he's not the angsty "I'm a monster" type. Sure, he's still trying to find a cure, but at the same time, he actually finds away to live with his condition, and for the most part, is kinda OK with his new life. Feeding on criminals, making artificial blood, and he even still has contact with his friends. That's a nice change
I agree - I liked that the movie didn't focus too much on what he feels about his condition, as it's obvious and doesn't need to be elaborated on. And as you said, he's smart/strong enough to find ways to cope with it. He's a man on a mission and needs to stay sharp.
However, in the prequel comics he's more open about his struggles, especially when talking with Superman.
@@Sakalah which also makes sense, like no shit suddenly gaining this many powers comes with problems, but the only real problem is one that can be managed by simply taking the red hood approach of killing people who themselves kill.
His friends from college try to kill him and his league with alien tech
Also beats dying of lymphoma.
That makes sense, since he’s just learning how to deal with being a vampire and eventually meeting people who accepted him.

Its nice to think that the son of a great villain like Zod could turnout to be a decent hero
Mordercai Near yeah you're right he is maybe a son of a bad guy but he always gonna be good he is not like injustice superman
It hints Lara DNA was the key factor to zod son more kinder ways
Mordercai Near yeah in the movie when he discovers the truth of his origin, he refers to zod as a mad man
Mordercai Near facts
Mordercai Near. Vampire bats don't actually bite people they just lick your bloody wounds of their blood, Kirk Langstrom officially used vampire bat DNA
They should do a sequel of Gods & Monsters. DC do better animated movies then Marvel.
And dat anime girl too
*Insert lenny face here*
@Koi Journeyman the New 52 films aren't the best, but I do get some enjoyment out of them.
I look at it like this marvel does better live action dc better animated
George Page I agree
There was an actual planned for a sequel but they stopped it for some reason?
All I know is that it would had introduce an spiky looking alien Green Lantern, Captain Marvel as a 70's ish clothes black woman with an afro and Steel whose look like Major Force in a blue robot suit with a cannon gun!
The Bruce Wayne Batman is still my favorite, but I like this alternate version as well... Though I am curious about what happened to the Wayne Family in this Universe.
Since Bruce Wayne never became Batman, I believe he grew up to be a normal adult. Maybe Langstrom ate Joe Chill.
Vampire batman killed joe chill in the comic series for this movie, but I dont know if he did it before he killed the waynes, if he did, that would be cool
We all can agree Batman is cool but sometimes people can take his coolness and make them to like OP like in Batman vs spawn he was wailing on spawn any barely got a scratch we meet Batman a bit more vulnerable and less more Invincible he still human
I love how this version of batman he isn't a traditional vampire so he doesn't have those lane weaknesses
I’ve always like to think that Bruce might eventually become Nightwing.
Edit; To expand on the idea, I think Langstrom would've saved Bruce and his family but Bruce would've still been inspired by the sight of Batman and continued to strive to become a hero/vigilante and eventually become Nightwing.
this is one of DC's most impressive works. Shaking up the origin story to give the heros new life. Its refreshing yet similar. Hope they make more. Won't lie, cried a little when the plot was revealed. Poor Batman...tragedy befalls him wherever in the multiverse or retellings.
Ambiso Tawsik again, it is realistic. how would you get happy when you're parents died and you spend you're time beating up criminals, clowns, eco terrorists and maniacs in the night

How is that related to what I said or the other comments
I loved Superman's alternative too. I though it was even better than the original Superman. The thing about the origin of these versions is that they are a bit more tragic, or more relatable, maybe? Or maybe just deeper.
I agree, i think they're just more sophisticated and complicated, superman and batmans origin aren't bad but they are very quick and simple, whereas the origins from Gods And Monsters aren't so black and white. There are shades of grey that make you question whether there the good guy or the bad guy. It just makes for a more interesting story
Definitely ain't relatable but they do feel deeper. More personal maybe? Human?
Relatable? With Batman sure
They could make the vampire element a side effect of the man bat muatagen
It felt like these characters were struggling with so much, but still remaining heroes. Kirk was disgusted with what he had to become to survive, Becka left behind trauma and betrayal (and probably disgust in what she helped accomplish), and this Superman was the son of general Zod (who in this universe was the cause of Kryptons destruction and essentially raped his mom) and raised by immigrants. What brought it all home was how much everyone hated them and how regardless they just kept doing their jobs the best they knew how. This Superman even brought up taking over the world, only to still just do his job and help people as he could best. Plus I love how this league kills. It isn't clearly for fun or out of sport, but because it's the middle of a battle and they don't immediately see other options (in most of these moments neutralizing without killing takes much more effort than just killing). And in the end they've grown to the point of being able to confront their pasts and look at how to improve the future. I gotta love how this Superman even when angry, considers Lex's arguments and acknowledges when he makes a good point.
I loved that Dexter did his voice, such perfect casting. I’d honestly love to see more of this universe.
I honestly thought they felt a lot more human as characters, their flaws and characteristics felt alot more relatable like than those of the main continuity counter parts. They actually felt like they had struggles and that they had to make compromising choices to accomplish their goals.
Yeah very relatable I hate being a vampire
I think that has to do with the era in which Superman, Batman and Wonder woman were created. Back in the late thirties and early fourties, superheroes were seen as infallible icons of virtue, people who did the right thing just because it was the right thing. Beginning in the nineteen-sixties, superheroes started going the more personal route, creating heroes that felt more like deeply flawed human beings. I feel like this movie reimagines the trinity as if they were created in the eighties or nineties.
I honestly like this batman more. He is more relatable and human even in a sense. His lack of a strict moral code of not killing also fits because after all he is a quasi vampire.. the worst offenders like the child killing, insane harley quin, being used for food whereas small time crooks just get a pounding, makes perfect sense.. he isnt evil but a pragmatist.
Superman too, the son of zod, an evil man that redeems his houses name by being a hero instead of a tyrant like his father at the end.. excellent writing..
Wonder woman being an exiled new god that didnt like how her father betrayed apocalips and darkseid and killed her groom.. again excellent writing and really shows that high father is just as dickish as any villain
It is pretty good. The "heroes" do some pretty nasty stuff, but as the story goes on, we see more and more of their better natures shine through: Superman choosing to sacrifice all that remains of his homeworld to save his adopted world. Batman choosing to spare the man who was once his friend, proving he is more than a monster himself. Wonder Woman choosing to fight using the gift her long-lost husband gave her to save her friends and the world that isn't her own. It's good stuff.
Fun Fact: The guy who plays Batman in this plays Dexter in... Dexter. (Michael C. Hall)
i know, its a genius piece of casting, I love the Dexter show and books, there was actually a ten episode plan for Gods and Monsters WB were working on for after this movie came out, which would have been fantastic but unfortunately it got shelved :( I hate when a great show doesn't get made
HereForTheRide yup, he also beat cancer too! Just like Langstrom minus the nanotechnology induced vampirism
This movie had some great cast.
Wish the series wasn't canceled, it was very interesting to see where they would take it.
HereForTheRide That's inspired casting 😆
HereForTheRide Wow! That explains the chilling effect i got watching and hearing him.
I just noticed hes pretty much still manbat with slightly less bat
He's a vampire, yet I find this Batman more relatable than regular Batman.
What's your opinion on garlic?
@@themostbritishpersonalive868 less than 10% of Vampires are allergic to garlic. Rest is immune. Similarly with sunlight, only 20% of Vampires are mortally vulnerable to it and 80% are sensitive ( they mostly need to shield their eyes by sunglasses for example). and not every Vampire needs to drink blood to survive.
@@kamirostorino9416 what about iron? what's still effective against vampires right?
@@themostbritishpersonalive868 it is... but you gotta be quick 'cuz they heal fast and don't bleed much. In many stories they are vulnerable to holly water and crosses and silver... They are not allergic to silver, in fact, white gold is in that spot. As for holly water... eh... number of Vampires who take damage from that gets lower and lower. As for crosses, it is not the shape or purpose that hurts them but specyfic type of wood (allergy)
@@kamirostorino9416 hang on is that Holly or holy because I have heard vampires aren't to found of Holly but also holy water makes more sense
Would be neat to see standard "never kill" JL meet and react to this alternate "sometimes kill" JL. They'd probably get pissy at each other for the ideological differences, then some big bad brings them together in mutual respect, or at least toleration.
Only that the standard "never kill" JL is a myth, you would need more than you two hands to count all the people that the JL superheroes had killed along the years in the source material, movies and TV Shows.
Keyser94 only if those two hands include not just open murder but colleterals set up by villains. Not saying the JL never kills is a fact, heck Wonder Woman killed a villain when given no other choice. But they capitalize not killing as much as possible. They do respect universal laws cause most of the other worlds won't follow their exact principles, evident by the Earth 3 crime syndicate where all the good guys are evil, and crime prevails at absolute.
Sure, tell that to the criminals that Batman hang with his Batwing or Superman that throw common criminals to acid vats, or during the Silver Age, were Superman killed Zod and his cronies with a Kryptonite bat, this aren't collateral damage, that are pure and brutal murders. Your are still believing in the idealise heroes bullshit, it a shame that DC is caving to this idiots, I liked superheroes when they actually had flaws and weren't virtuous paragons.
@@TheKeyser94 thank you!
No, he's mearly discussing diffrent versions of the characters.
Portraying Kirk Langstrom as a hero has some precedent. In his first couple of appearances, he used his form as Man-Bat to help Batman fight crime before he lost control and went full animalistic. He also was a hero in Beware the Batman, where he was transformed against his will by Professor Pyg and Mister Toad, but his intelligence could control his monstrous form.

It's actually because vampire bats can see infrared too, to find prey and find blood vessels closest to the skin surface.
They don't see in infrared, but they do have infrared receptors on their nose-leaf. So i suppose it's more like smelling in infrared if i understand correctly however i'm not sure
Lol they can't.
I actually prefer this version of Batman.
1. Michael C. Hall is just a perfect actor for this role.
2. Kirk's mannerisms and deadpan delivery shows that some traits just fit the title.
3. His friendship with this universe's Superman shows quite a bit of depth for both of them.
4. He is given quite a bit of trauma, but nothing that's been done to death.
Plus Dexter, like a vampire is cursed with a need to kill to satisfy his bloodlust.
Kirk can't actually fly. It's part of the tech in his suit. You can tell by the fact he is never seen flying without it. The same token argument could be made of Becca's suit as I don't recall seeing her fly while wearing anything else.
Shame. I would have love he had by bat wings like Disney Gargoyles.
Yeah and Superman can fly on his own. Batman and Wonder Woman need their suits in order to take flight
Well Batman can fly since he is part vampire, the suit just enhance his ability to fly
That's the same actor who played likable serial killer Dexter Morgan, on Dexter. He was a Lymphoma survivor in real life.
@Un Tizio Noioso The Creeper Michael C. Hall Jordan?

An amalgamation of this Batman and Bruce Wayne would be fucking awesome, he'd be a force to be reckoned with, superhuman speed and strength mixed with all the martial arts that he's mastered
Shione Cooper There is actually a (good) story where Bruce Wayne becomes a vampire.
It's... pretty dark. Not gonna lie.

Funny I have a idea of a caped heroes, my own hero, that is a mesh of Batman billionaire persona with Superman alien origins, set in my own universe, I have the concept art and all (I posted in my page) but I still not have the the initial arc to begin to write about it, hell, I even have an initial antagonist (I need more), but the idea still hadn't launch.

Finds him feeding on a rat, just like in interview with a vampire 🤣
Or like using bat blood dna on human is like Micheal morbius because he cured his sickness with bat dna turning into a living vampire or pseudo vampire
@@natefowler4522 that too, but i just love it when DC makes a nod to an iconic movie
I personally like this origin more than the common "my parents died now I must become a hero to avenge them" origin
Derp Wizard It was never really avenge them but to make sure it doesn't happen ever in his sight.
Depends on the writer. The Golden Age Batman was entirely about revenge. He also killed criminals, though he wouldn't use lethal force if he didn't feel it justified - the "thou shalt not kill" thing is a product of the Silver Age. The G+M Batman is somewhat more kill-happy than the Golden Age Batman.
When Batman was first written, it was a fairly novel story with unique twists. He was considered very reserved at the time - seeking revenge against crime itself as a concept, but not actively seeking blood (though he did kill a fair bit). It's just that said story has been re-told for nearly a century now, and most of it without any real change.
Another Person it wasn't about avenging it was about finding the killer and making sure it doesn't happen to anyone.
Both are good lol none are better
Well, keep in mind, that origin is only common now because Batman made common in the first place.
Great video!
Those who fancy this universe should know that a series of tie-in comics were released just before this movie - further delving into the origins of these anti-heroes: Batman's first year of survival in the streets. Superman's harsh childhood and search for identity. Wonder Woman's _trippy_ introduction to Earth in the 1960's.
It's definitely worth a read.
Sakalah Title and issue?
RenegadeParagon | The aforementioned issues are titled _Justice League: Gods and Monsters_ (+ hero name). Additional 3 issues are dedicated to how and why the League was formed.
Anti hero??
This movie was so amazingly well written and unique, I desperately want more from this universe, all of it's characters were fleshed out and deep and tbh I'd trade 10 Clark Kent/Bruce Wayne movies for just _one_ sequel to Gods and Monsters...
I like this universe’s Batman and his origin. Although, I have to say that it is hard to ignore that it’s kind of a rip-off of Morbius’. Still the inclusion of the jealous best friend and the forbidden love is a nice twist on an already tragic story.
I also like that Superman specifically took him in after seeing Batman feeding on a rat; it’s one of the first clues we see that this Justice League is more than the pack of remorseless government-sponsored murderers we first see them as and is a stepping stone towards their eventual redemption.
Well at this point it’s fair to say that DC does Morbius better than Marvel does.
@@alistairwalker2850 That's kind of sad.
I like this version of Batman. I like also that he's got powers, too!
This is one of the most underrated version of Batman I’ve ever seen and it deserves much love
I personally think this is a great version of Batman Superman and Wonder Woman as you could clearly see Wonder Woman has that old-school Jack Kirby style design from the new gods I think that was all a nod to the old Jack Kirby stories the vampire Batman was inevitable I mean Batman essentially moves like a vampire and to make him an actual vampire is a step ahead for his own best friend to betray him because of jealousy and then ultimately become a villain is a great twist and for Superman to save Batman and have a father that is zod is amazing the cherry on top is the fact that this is from Bruce timm the originator and co-creator of The Dark Knight animated series what's not to love it's amazing the killing was another push toward the hero's of tomorrow as well as the upbringing of the superheroes
LOVE the Kirk langstrom version of Batman. Wish they would make more comics/movies about him. I also like that there was no killing of the parents. If only.
Idk if this is just hype when I say that this Batman is awesome and there needs to be more of Him. Everything I saw here just seems to fit.
I like how he's basically Morbius.
It's morbin time
Just finished watching the movie. Thanks to this video that pushed me into wanting to see more. It was awesome. I found it funny towards the end when Superman told Batman that they shouldn't kill anymore. And Batman's response was, "Seriously?". Lol
hes damn similat to the living vampire morbius
I really liked this Alt universe film, I always enjoy fresh things, main reason why I really enjoy the idea of Thomas as the Batman and Martha as the Joker in Flashpoint. Also in the TellTale games with Thomas actually being a bad guy and reverse Mad love, I can't express how much I like those twists. And Gods and Monsters is FULL of 'em
I loved this version of Batman! Not a huge fan of the costume tbh but i wish theres a continued graphic novel of this movies world!
This Version of Batman is amazing. Kirk Langstrom aka Man-Bat aka Batman. He's so Fucking awesome!!!
There should a sequel with alternate versions of Green Lantern, Flash and Aquaman
its seen in the video but not said that magnus killed tina and created a nanobot robot of her
Sarah Choi didnt really matter to the origin of this batman.. i mean, in the story it mattered but just telling the origin... it'd be like saying what the mugger was trying to steal when he shot the waynes. probably mattered to bruce, but not to the reader... thats my opinion anyway
Irony: He wasn't trying to steal. He was hired by an organized crime boss to make it look like a mugging. Also irrelevant to explaining how he came to be.
When you think about it if Magnus was having problems with his relationship with Tina he could of gone to a marriage counsellor or talked to her about what she wanted than Killing her
comic book reviewer comic book reviewer It wouldn't have changed a thing; Tina loved Kirk more than Magnus, and she only married Magnus out of obligation. Not sure why she liked Kirk. If I were her, I'd go for Magnus.
comic book reviewer you've never read a comic book before have you?
This actually makes me wonder what could happen if any other batman villain was instead Batman. Would be interesting to see Dr. Krane aka the scarecrow in Batman’s place.
Easily one of the best alternate versions of a comic character.
I want him to be explored way more.
I like how this movie showed all the hero and villains with doctorates. They didn’t use all of Batmans villains witch are mostly all doctors. I did like poison ivy small reference even if they didn’t show her. Would have been cool to see what they all could have accomplish if they weren’t killed.
Can you do the gods and monsters superman and wonder woman origin?
there on my list so hopefully I'll get to them in the next few weeks
I really liked this version of batman when I first watched the movie and ever since then all I wanted to see is a batman arkham like game with vampire batman and his abilities like super speed, strength and flying.........having the flawless free flow combat mixed in with vampire powers and draining enemies would be really fun
Thanks for the explanation; very interesting reinterpretation, I loved hearing about it.
What do I think? I'd LOVE to see a bizarro version of Bruce Wayne in this universe who instead of a rich kid with parental issues who fights crime to distract himself, becomes a rich kid with parental issues who unethically trophy hunts for sport to distract himself from his parental issues. That'd be a funny take on Batman, as a foil to Manbat Batman. Preferably with excessive firepower, b/c AMURICA.
Leader of the querulous quartet, featuring shiny new versions of shark, fox, and vulture perhaps.
I kinda want this guys story to be made bigger or maybe like a mini series
I have to redownload this movie now!! I remember how awesome it is. Thanks for the refreshing videos
I think he's wonderful. I love this version a lot and I love him.
Way more interesting than the actual main stream universe Justice League.
This Bat-Man although different still shows a lot of qualities that our Batman has.
1. This Bat-Man shows up first on the scene just like Bruce and fights mostly alone
2. Still the all seeing dectective that Bruce was and able to connect the dots and solve the mystery.
3. Bats still has a code, a looser code but still has one. Plus he goes out of his way to protect the ones closest to him, like our Bats.
So its easy to get used to Kirk Langstrom's Batman because he shows the same qaulities as ours does.
Fantastic. When can we see one for Superman and Wonder Woman?
wonder woman is in the pipeline, then superman somewhere further down the line, I have a long list of videos i'm working through
Justice League: Gods and Monsters is BY FAR my favorite A.U of any fictional universe to date, the reimagining is incredibly fresh while still keeping the things we love about the characters, can't recommend this movie enough, would pay for a sequell in a heartbeat.
Always thought this was a great idea for an elseworlds story. Just wish his suit didn't have white. I would make it gothic.
That would have been awesome
They've milked the Bruce Wayne story to death! This new Batman is a fresh spin on an old classic!😎👊
Your videos are the best! Keep up the good work!
I can't really like a movie so dark and unashamedly violent, but I will give full credit for such a richly detailed, twisted, fun house mirror version of Batman. In fact, I'm happy to be totally wrong about just how much work they put into the Kirk Langstrom Batman.
As much as I like bruce I perfer kirk, his concept is so interesting to me and there are so many stories of batman becoming/getting the abilities of a bat. I think one where the bat becomes more like the man is more then welcome
I really enjoyed this. It a darker and a new look at what could be. I hope for more. Thank you.
Every time he says "Gods and Monsters" it sounds like he is saying "Gods Among Us"
He’s basically if Morbius was Batman, but he still had a good movie in Gods and Monsters. Which is funny with how Morbius’ actual film is not
But still, it's morbin time
This was a good video. Calm and collected
I think Man Bat as a character in Batman TAS was fine. I enjoy different interpretations of the characters, like the Jack the Ripper movie. Bruce Wayne doesn't have to be Batman in every interpretation, but it is perhaps the most iconic version, and it is the one I enjoy the most.
But it is cool to see evil versions, super-powered versions, and heck, it'd be interesting to see the table flipped, with all the superheroes being just mundane people with weird characteristics instead.
But I enjoy the classic versions of the characters the most, as things like the Justice League TV series are near and dear to my heart.
Please use more alternative origins loved it . LOVED IT . good work
Great video!! Now I gotta buy this!
I can't believe I forgot about this movie!
I wish we had gotten more from this universe.
I’d love to see him, and blade have a battle for ultimate vampire.
I would ADORE seeing more of this Batman 😃
One of the best I've seen love the story line
This batman is the best version i've ever seen!
So he's kinda like a crossover "What If Morbeus became Batman". Sounds awesome. I saw this but don't really remember it. Gonna have to dig into my DC animated collection tonight.
Honestly such a great character, would love to see Kirk's canon in the main time lines end with him perfecting his work and becoming man-bat who is a vampire and can transform at will.
One of my favourite Batman after Terry McGinnis

He's like Morbius but less Emo.
frankly, i like this version just as much. this should totally get its own show, maybe DC should even make a movie out of it.
Good idea!
I like the idea of Kirk Langstrom becoming Batman instead of Manbat, that's really cool
Is a refreshing change. I would like to see him, team up with the Batman from Earth Prime.
I loved the idea but yeahhh even I couldn't help but notice the major similarities between this Batman and Marvel's Morbius the Living Vampire...but still I liked it
Have you covered Superman (Gods and Monsters) yet? If not, I'd like to see the video when you get around it. Love your videos man.
though I love the original origin story more this origin is interesting and what we can relate to and as you said NeedleMouse "Refreshing"
Aaaand subscribed. I'm guessing you'll also be doing this universes wonder woman and superman. Looking forward to it.
I will be, though I;m not sure how soon they'll be, I have a few others to work on first, wonder woman will probably be done before superman though
That's alright. Take your time. Where I'm from people say: if you try to make soup in a rush, it'll turn out salty.
I few days ago I found the movie. I have re watched it 5 times. Then I found the comics and just finished reading them. I want MORE!
Definitely loved this film!!
6:27 Ah! I thought I recognized that voice.
"It was me Barry."
I love the music.
In this alternate version of Batman, he seem definitely didn’t give any mercy on general bad guys which is a good thing about the city being secure, that’s how he think the justice should have work. While Bruce did not have that kind of feeling, all he wanted was to fight crime send them to jail then break free, just by doing this to maintain his mental health.
Well told story
Vampire Batman is interesting
I also would like to suggest Grabbing the "God's and Monsters" comic books, there are only three issues, but they are brilliant Prologue to this story and show how all three members met before taking on a very different Dr. Psycho!
Awesome And cool!
It was very interesting I would like to see more.
I agree make a cartoon series with this BATMAN!!!
That’s awesome
Vampire Batman is the BEST thing about this movie
