Reminds me it'd be interesting to list similarities between the Joker of the Arkham games and Moriarty on BBC's Sherlock. Either villain lives on in the detective's mind, ultimately to be buried in subconsciousness as a forgotten prisoner. Either villain also leaves a legacy of evil with a semi-functional network and some unauthorized imitators.

For your breakdown of the chessboard (cause I really like that you analyzed that) I noticed that the black king is actually unable to move as both white knights and the queen have him penned in. However, he is saved by the fact that the black night is in position to take out the queen. @@jeanetten.s.8557 The general critisicm given towards the game I've seen is:
      - Atrocious PC launch.
      -Overeliance on Batmobile.
      - The Arkham Knight's reveal being too predictable. I'm don't remember the article, but I remember Rocksteady saying that he would be a completely new character. Hmm...
      - Several plot point setup in City ending rather anticlimactically. I think Hush suffered the most from this considering how basic his big plan turned out to be.
      - Bossfights in general were either forgettable mechanically, or a Tank fight, with not much variety.
      - The fight against Deathstroke ended up being...a tank battle. Considering the fight in Origins, people felt dissapointed with how that turned out.
      - Overabbundance of DLC without much substance to them (the Season of Infamy DLC was for the most part praised)
      - Bringing back the Joker yet again after introducing the possibility of a game without him, following City's ending.
      - Scarecrow can feel like a background character most of the time. Also the whole "City of fear" concept in the 3rd act doesn't really accomplish much for Scarecrow. All he ended up doing is spreading the gas in a city that is mostly left with criminals and not much else. What did he accomplish with that?
      - Collectibles can feel like too much at times. This is the game with the most Riddler Trophies and biggest map in the series.
      - The ending was rather controversial at launch.
There's no one big issue outside of the Batmobile and the AK reveal, but I think it's just some gripes people have with Knight that piles up and makes it (for them) their least favorite in the series. For me, it's either Origins and Knight, though I always had an appreciation for Origins and there's a lot to like about it. I'm not sure where I lie with Knight, but I do respect it for not playing it safe like Origins did and aiming for being the largest game in the franchise in terms of scope.

I think it had the best DLCs in the entire series, right next to Origins Cold, Cold, Heart. A Matter of Family is pretty damn good, and while the Nightwing, Catwoman, Red Hood, and Harley DLC were a little lacking (they should have been longer and we should have had a full playable Red Hood story instead of a few little combat missions.) The amount of suits we get and skins for the Batmobile are insane, and I absolutely love it.

This is EASILY my favorite Arkham game in the series, the Music, graphics, gameplay, story, and characters are all top notch! I keep getting told how easy and forced Jason was but in my personal opinion I didn’t see the fact that it was Jason till WAAAYYY later. In fact I’m pretty sure the only reason I knew it was him was because CZcams put a video with Jason as the thumbnail in my feed. See I wasn’t thinking of things that were already in Batman’s story I was thinking of a new character or maybe someone not as big. He doesn’t have to be part of the bat family to be someone who has this HUGE want for revenge against him and know all his weaknesses, hell even azreal could’ve been a contestant for the weakness part, seeing as his fighting style is EXACTLY the same as Batman’s In this game. I think them putting Jason in this game as the Arkham knight first was their way of making a unique version of Red hood. So that doesn’t take away from the game at all. And the bat-mobile…… is GREAT. Idk how they could translate Batman’s movement and fighting style into a giant tank but they did. When your surrounded and getting shot from all sides it actually feels like your in the free-flow combat system as a tank and when your stalking the heavy tanks it feels like the sneaking sections as Batman, and they’re spaced out enough that enjoyed all the sections. THE ONE THING I THINK THEY COULD’VE DONE BETTER! Was the bosses. Death stroke was a joke and some of the others were pretty boring, I think they added some good ones with the dlc but that death-stroke one was just too awful coming from the fantastic death-stroke boss fight from origins.

Fun fact: This entire sequence mirrors the Scarecrow game crash jumpscare from Asylum.
And yes is a parallel of Asylums intro which is again spoofed in that jumpscare. Layers ppl, layers.

Though there may be a bit of reading into things. I enjoy the deeper potential meaning you look for in these games and I've truly been able to feel and appreciate them more after watching some of your videos and it makes me want to play them again to enjoy that aspect. Games are entertainment but they're also a beautiful and sometimes tragic (or both) story that some people don't see any farther than the gameplay. I truly enjoy your videos

Personally, my issue with Jason is how unsympathetic he is here. I mean, regardless of his genuine feelings about Bruce abandoning him, he still willingly helped take over an entire city AND used a biological weapon to terrorize Gotham. I don't care how genuine and real his anger is towards Bruce. He still did all this stuff and never faces any real consequences for his actions. Add how forced he feels and how much the batmobile is used in this game and it's my least favourite Arkham game. However, I still don't think it's horrible. The combat is still fun, the graphics are amazing and the story isn't all bad. That's just my thoughts though. Glad you love the game so much and keep up the great work :)

It would make Todd a little more forgivable if he faked the threat of Fear Gas but Scarecrow betrays him to make it real. They could have even added a fake Scarecrow with Arkham Asylum costume to fool us and when we take him down and remove the mask, TADAAAA its not Scarecrow! And the real one steps in later on.

    • @Shapes_Quality_Control
      @Shapes_Quality_Control Před 2 lety +3

Fair point. It might have helped had he not straight up murdered people. Putting people in harms way without actually killing them (intentionally at least) would probably have done the trick of having us take the Knight seriously as a threat to Batman without making us hate him. However this does take away from the ultimate victory of both Joker and Scarecrow. We need to feel the loss of the Batman and the weight of the walls closing in around him for the conclusions payoff to mean something.
