    Interesting tip:
    I started wiping down fenders with marine detailer at the beginning of each season. Takes only a few minutes.
    Keeps them much cleaner, better condition over time. Less marks etc.

    I splashed on April 10th! After having an emergency hip surgery I had to have the marina do all my pre-launch chores. They buffed and waxed the entire boat, installed my new air conditioner and even put up my canvas. I spent a day on the boat cleaning the interior so it is ready to move onto next weekend.

    We, actually I, got in the water on Monday. The Admiral ended up in the ER over the weekend. It's a long story and I/we might share a short version for CZcams soon. Anyway, we're floating, engines fired up ok and working on "summerizing" the rest of the boat. I'm glad you're in the final countdown. Cheers!

      Congrats on your successful launch! Sorry to hear about The Admiral having to visit the ER. Hope all ended up well - and now that you've shared that news with us, then you absolutely have to include an update in an upcoming video. That is, so long as there's no stitches or anything - I've got a sensitive stomach 😉

    Is it more important to wax the topsides every year . Can you get away with the hull sides every other year to maintain the gel coat ?

    • @BoatingWithBoogaboo
      @BoatingWithBoogaboo  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Given that we have been in an open slip for the past 13 years, the sunshine beating down on the deck tends to dull it down after a year. That said, since I moved away from simple wax and have used a polymer sealant, the finish definitely lasts better.
      Check my channel to see the video I did last year on the polymer finish...

      No chance to polish the hulls sides this year, but we have a professional crew that'll be doing the topsides. As for the bottom paint, it's in really good condition, just dirty 🫣

    Hello Paul, do you know of a good, reliable website where I can purchase replacement “SUNDANCER” decals for my boat. I would like to find OEM decals if possible. Thank you.

    • @BoatingWithBoogaboo
      @BoatingWithBoogaboo  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I've never dealt with this company, but discovered their site last summer when considering replacement decals for Boogaboo. I'm thinking that they produce their reproduction decals, so I wouldn't call them OEM.
      Here's the site - again, I'm not endorsing them, as I've never purchased anything from them; www.logo-decals.com/api/sea-ray-sundancer

    We launched last weekend with out Cruisers yachts 3470 express. It was again very windy (we were lucky it was just a bit less windy compared to haulout day) and with our boat that is no fun at all. All boats on the dry are on steel cradles. A forklift with a special trailer will get them one by one. The trailer is U-shaped and has a hydraulic system to lift the cradle as soon it is driven under the cradle side support arms. The forklift will take the boats to the crane and the crane will lift it in the water. A very oiled machine that works like clockwork. every boat takes about 10 to 15 minutes to launch from pickup to drive it away from under the crane. But this wind. I just hate it. Our boat is very sensitive to wind. in the front since it it pretty shallow. Last fall it was so windy it was not able to turn into the wind with one prop fwd and one in rev and bowthruster also pushing. I was a bit afraid it would be the same last week. But as I said it was just a bit less. Just enough to go out of the crane area, turn and drive it to the location in the harbour where I needed to turn a pretty tight 90 degrees left to go our berth almost in the end. Since our boat has just very little "grip"on the water and because I do not want to go much faster than snail speed my rudders are normally not used in the marina. Only pulses of the props to drive it and steer it and also bowthruster inputs when needed. Well because of the wind the boat started to go sideways while turning and almost reached the other side and there was collision danger to bows and dock piles. I managed to avoid the (slow) impact by giving hard rudder to the right with a pretty short agressive throttle pulse of the left engine to push the back of the boat to the left while it would initiate a right turn. And at the same moment I gave a bowthruster pulse to the left too. so in the end the boat stopped "skidding"out with the back end into the piles and stayed parallel to them and i could slowly steer away while using the bow thuster at the same time. crossed over to the other side (the side the wind blew from) stayed close to the piles and bows on that side and stopped to turn 90 degrees at our slip. There tried to turn the boat to starboard so I could back up into the slip later but again the wind took controll and I was moving more sideways than I wanted. had to save the situation again to prevent a clash by driving it backwards unther the 45 degree angle I was at that moment and backed up again to my port side to stay as close to the piles and bows on the upwind side. went forward again while staying glued to that side and this time the turn worked out a succes. Man was I happy it was finally docked. wet armpits. On big water there is no problem but in a tight marina I just feel like I miss controll. Sure more practice will make me master the problems more easy but man I just hate wind. Everything I like just does not go well with wind. Stuff will blow away the moment I put it down. Things will get poluted with stuff carried by the wind, It feels colder, It makes more noise, It makes the boat rock and yaw at anchor etc. etc.
    wind and I aren't friends 🙂
