"I Hear Them All" Lyrics:
I hear the crying of the hungry in the deserts where they're wandering.
Hear them crying out for heaven's own benevolence upon them.
Hear destructive power prevailing, I hear fools falsely hailing.
To the crooked wits of tyrants when they call.
I hear them all
I hear them all
I hear them all
I hear the sounds of tearing pages and the roar of burning paper.
All the crimes in acquisitions turn to air and ash and vapor.
And the rattle of the shackle far beyond emancipators.
And the loneliest who gather in their stalls.
I hear them all
I hear them all
I hear them all
So while you sit and whistle Dixie with your money and your power.
I can hear the flowers a-growin in the rubble of the towers.
I hear leaders quit their lying
I hear babies quit their crying.
I hear soldiers quit their dying, one and all.
I hear them all
I hear them all
I hear them all
I hear the tender words from Zion, I hear Noah's waterfall.
Hear the gentle lamb of Judah sleeping at the feet of Buddha.
And the prophets from Elija to the old Paiute Wovoka.
Take their places at the table when they're called.
I hear them all
I hear them all
I hear them all
I hear them all
I hear them all
I hear them all
I hear them all
I hear them all

Still the greatest compassion anthem of all time. Every time I hear it I’m reminded why I do the work I do and am fortified to carry on. When this song doesn’t make you feel something for your brothers and sisters, throw the towel in.
God love you, brother.
Peter! Your soul is showing!
So , let it shine ✨!
Thanks for your hard work, son. May god bless you
One of the most underrated songs ever. A masterpiece!
This must be one of the most profound and beautiful songs ever performed. I am in absolute awe of this group.
Just found them, after learning that they were the original composers and singers of Wagon Wheel, in partial collaboration with Bob Dylan. All this time I thought, and I'm sure millions more think that Darius Rucker wrote and composed Wagon Wheel.
@@myo39 they must not pay much attention to anything. This was a big hit before Darius Rucker, saw this video all day for years on CMT,let alone wagon wheel which was a bigger hit
You want to listen to lost dog street band
The original founders of the band including Willie Watson came from my hometown in NYS
@@lukecollett5944 everyone should hear Lost dog street band!
You know these old shelters, old places where you come back some times? this song here is one of them for me.
My dad would love these guys.... Hell I love these guys. What is old is new again!!
👏
“So while you sit and whistle Dixie with your money and your power. I can hear the flowers growing in the rubble of the tower. I hear leaders quit their lying, I hear babies quit their crying. I hear soldiers quit their dying one and all.” So powerful. Each verse speaks true to sadly todays world probably more so than ever.
The Old Crows have tons of great songs, but this one is definitely one of their finest. So profound!
Completely relevant today as the voices of freedom and justice need to be heard!
I'm pretty new to them. What should I be listening to? I've already been floored by their version of Johnny Get Your Gun and The Weight with Welch-Rawlings.
@@mikegoldberg5261 The whole self titled album is AMAZING. It's the gold standard in production as far as string band music goes, in my opinion. The song "Big Time In The Jungle" is one of my all time faves of theirs, but really that whole album is great. "Take EM Away" is essential as is "Hard To Love" and "Hard to Tell". Too many to list here, but I'm glad you are enjoying them 🙂
Great song. My favorite lyric: "I hear destructive power prevailing, I hear fools falsely hailing, to the crooked wits of tyrants when they call."
What about Pavelka or whatever the word is? That phrase I'm not sure what it means.
@@TheRacboys Do you mean "The old Paiute Wovoka" ? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wovoka
@@simonacerton3478 thank you for link. I thought it might be reference to native American culture.
@@TheRacboys Quite welcome.
@@simonacerton3478 for what simon.
Bluegrass, country, and folk music. I hear them all.
LOL yes!! 😁
What a broad repertoire haha, but yeah I get the feels
you know whats so good about this song? Its not only heart felt and well played, but it's extremely intelligent lyrically. It is so well spoken, that it just makes you love and respect it. This is becoming rare these days my friends.
Ik its been 12 years since ur comment but that’s facts
@@nikolasmoore8559 u beat me to it... u sir win the intrnet fer 2day 🙏✌👍
Country these days is just pop with a twang. This is such a refreshing and group!
That's exactly how I describe it! Pop with a twang! lol
They ain't country. They have the bluegrass twang that can't be learned. You have it, or you don't.
I just love all the attempts to categorize them, it can't be done!
I agree, I naturally gravitate to this song ...AND I am on the lookout for the the new stuff. In fact I am collecting songs that could be performed during a variety of actions that are committed to social change that is inclusive and sustainable ....who are you listening to. My list is embedded in the songs of the civil rights and anti -war movements ... needs a boost to the present!
Perhaps but a lot of us see it as an artificial twang and a feigned working class roughneck attitude that is contrasted by either sweet or vindictive girls trying to sound simple with bleached hair and enough makeup to win a Tammy Faye Baker look alike contest.I'm no better or worse but What I am I do not feign or fake. You get the real me if you pay attention. But this stuff now isn't good enough to be called pop with a twang.
A truly profound and beautifully-delivered message to humanity - and just as relevant today as it was in 2007 - thank you OCMS.
More so
I wish this group much more success. The world can use their music and you can see that they love what they are doing.
such an underrated song/band
For an underrated talent, search out Foxes and Fossils, then the late sixties psychedelic band, H. P.Lovecraft
Hahha what are u talking about ..your stupid comment is underrated, I remember my first time hearing good music...i was 2.
I just turned on to these guys recently, and I just can't get enough- They have the old-timey sound down cold, and their vocal harmonies are incredible. Now I've got to see them live!
Beautiful! The American spirit - the human spirit - needs music like this. Now more than ever...
O.C.M.S. is the BEST Bluegrass/Country/Rock/Blues Band out today! In fact I will say, they are my all time favorite...!!!
I got the pleasure of seeing these guys perform at the Grand Ole Opry and everyone was singing and on their feet. Outstanding group.
This tune still brings me to tears.
manderdander m
gives me goosebumps everytime. what a fantastic song.
This is what we all need right now in these heavy times!
Amen to that brother.
I do believe I am hearing eternal songwriting, very rare these days, I feel as if this song will be sung a hundred years from now
One of the greatest bands I've seen in concert.
This is some of the best songwriting I've heard in a while. I hear them all.OCMS !
That's the great thing about life on earth, you always find what you're looking for. Being somewhat of a simpleton myself, I only see happy people enjoying good music together. Thanks for sharing!
man i love ocms. I even have my kids jammin it lol! God bless people who care enough to sing of something that matters!
Goddangit, it's good to have a song that just makes you smile, isn't it?
B McKelvy
B McKelvy you have my picture lol
Especially in 2020
I first heard this song two years ago....These boys are the true angels of the message. Wonderful lyrics, beautiful melody, how can you not be captured in nature of this song?
this is my #1 song of the old crow medicine show.along with wagon wheel, caroline, humdinger, poor man,in the jungle, ect.
Randy Harr Alabama high test
Thank you Old Crow Medicine Show for making real music! I love this band!
This is very up lifting . The fact that is was recorded in New Orleans and just approach and the writing of the lyrics and the style the are playing with that bluegrass roots nailed down hard with that scotch irish Appalachian twang. It don't get much better.
Bob Dylan writes a hell of a song
Great song. Praise His wonderful Name!!!
God I’ve loved this band for years now!!!
This is such a beautiful song.
Never regretted buying their CD on a whim years ago, without ever hearing their music beforehand. Now I have 3 of their CDs, great toe-tapping, road tripping music!!!
Willie & Ketch had once in a lifetime harmonizing chemistry.
this song is soo powerful and simple, i love the message, its a shame most folks won't hear thier message
What can we do to help fix that? If you are still there; I hope you are well.
One person at a time, my friend. We're all just walking each other home...
i love this group so much!
These boys rock! I drove 6 hours to see them and can honestly say it is one of the best shows i have seen (and I've been going to rock, country, etc. concerts for 35 years) ! AWESOME guys !
I had the pleasure of meeting and spending some time with the group.Love the music and lyrics.Hopefully they will be back early next year.
This is my favourite song.
I just noticed that they got one of the greatest bassist alive, George Porter Jr. to make a cameo as the school bus driver.
No way, that went right by me!
And who better to "drive the bus"?!!!
I love this! One of my favorite songs of all time - plus, Dave Rawlings did a great rendition of this.
With Willie - that was awesome
God bless Old Crow Medicine Show..and all good souls! Amen.. I think they were put here for a reason..
Brilliant...a pleasure to listen to you guys.
Love your music. What a talent and gift !
Every time I listen to this song I have to listen to it more than once, If Johnny Cash were still alive this is the kind of song he would be writing
13 years and still my favorite song
Me too homie
Once again I listen to this song and it has even more meaning each time. Glad to see that over 1.3 million people have listened, that's a start. Hopefully the meaning of their message will spread.
I love their sound..I was lucky enough to see these guys a few years ago and they put on an unreal show..
Having trouble hanging on. Needed to hear this Now for a taste of hope.
Hang in there brother we need good people
Kings of leon
Why?
These so called country singers who is murdering the music need to take note of these guys we more of real bands like this R.I.P. country music
This is more folk or bluegrass than it is country.
I have been singing this song for weeks now, working out all the harmonies... I love it so much and I'm so happy its on CZcams... THANK YOU!
Part of this was filmed in my neighborhood (Bywater) in New Orleans.
This is Old Crow's best song. This is the best country song ever. Could this be the best song ever? Maybe.
Nah, to much twang
I'd say that Sweet Amarillo is better, but that is actually one of Dylan's.
I've loved Dylan since college (the 60's)--but I can listen to this by OCMS over and over--they are awesome!
OCMS Fan bigtime love the heart & soul of Old Crow Medicine Show
i turned alot of my friends on to this band and now they love them too and not just wagon wheel
Great music
This song makes me glad to be alive in 2017, GOD BLESS OCMS!!!
easily the best show I have ever seen. These guys put on a phenominal show and make amazing music. Finding good new music in todays world is a strange thing but Old Crow has done it
I was introduced to this song by a Katrina survivor. Powerful stuff.
great song and so well written! these guys rock!
Ketch has a 😍 😃
Absolutely wonderful song. Puts any popular music to shame.
In 2022 still true. These guys had a good idea of how it was, is, and gonna be.
why am I just now discovering this band??????
+Alex Wyman Me too, but I live in Australia so that will have to be my excuse haha
+Alex Wyman Because your a jag off!!!
Welcome home to the wonderful world of The Old Crow Medicine Show. Doesn't matter how long it took.
Found it same time you did...I didn't know about the original wagon wheel song...feel silly.
I'm glad you have! I've followed them in music and tour since around 2006.
"I hear the gentle lamb of Judah sleeping at the feet of Buddha" good stuff
How is that good?
ITS HORRIBLE WE NEED WAR !!!
keep far away judah things...
Kayvahn Your logic is contradictory beyond sense.
Captinius Blarius I’m Christian but Buddha was a peacemaker and I am sure that if he had heard of Christ he would have accepted Him
They were so stunning live... big gig of absolutely amazingness
I'm defiantly not a mainstream country person at all. but i saw old crow at the crystal ballroom in portland right before i left for the military. they played a hour and a half set, took a half hour drink break, and got back on stage and played another hour and a half of music. out of all the concerts i've been to, you could really see the emotion they put into every song. probably one of the best concerts i've been to.
Very Humbling Song
It’s 2019 and this is still a great song
Who are you people. Stop. We know what year it is and yes we obviously think this song is good. No need to comment this bullshit on every fucking song.
For time line.... sitting confined to my home due to a world wide virus..... frustrated....
BUT! Beautiful poetry and music can take me anywhere i wanna go. Lets meet on the moon!
This is awesome,so good!!!Amazing talent!
A great song by a great bluegrass band! For a great cause!
The song for the compassionate empath.
Thank you. Brief looks at the America few see, lyrical words that illustrate life. You guys are so up and coming, I wish success at every fork in the road.
What a great song. Amazing songwriting.
Awesome!
Could not be better
This kind of music gives me hope for the youth of America. Some of them already get it.
Great Harmonies on this song, and lyrics that make you stop and think. I Love It
Would be nice if we had mercy for each other no matter who or what got us our pain...just sayin'
Hell yes... The sooner we all realise that we're all in this together, the better for all of us...
Looked it up where? Online lyrics databases are based on what listeners think they hear. I've found many mistakes on them. Look at the structure of the verse. "Judah" and "Buddha" rhyme, "Judas" doesn't. All of the names in that section are prophets. Jesus (the "Lamb of Judah") fits, Judas doesn't
thank you for this , so great , love it, got to love it period
very rarely does music move me, this song brings tears to my eyes it truely is an inspiring song.
This is as good as anything Woody Guthrie wrote. No joke - a great song!
This is the most spiritually advanced song I've heard in my life!
This is my favourite OCMS song. It really isn't even a contest.
This song touches my heart!
To me, this is clearly about being a universalist. We have a certain responsibility to be humane and love. That is certainly not found in the halls of a church, singing worship songs and lifting your hands to look holy.
That I can confirm.
Humanity! Love! Sweet words. :-) Respect and be cool to everyone, even if they go to church now and then. Life's a mystery and people find semi-solutions in different places. One love bruv.
Emmoth666 Totally with you my man. Fully agreed
love and be loved, thats what we're all here for. cheers!
You can't "confirm" anything without really investigating. The song is completely consistent with the prophetic Christianity I was raised in. You are judging an entire tradition by the actions of only a segment. On one hand, the great majority of people who don't believe in God are no more concerned about others than the Christians you are calling out.; And, on the other people of faith (Christian and other faiths) have been involved in movements for justice throughout the 20th century, alongside humanists and often in greater numbers.
Aidan Parle God is a nationalist, not a globalist. The mixing of races, the clashing of those races within multiracial societies and the instability of our societies is due to forgetting God's words and instead seeking a communist ideaology of globalism.
I have a theory that there are perfect songs. I think this is one, as is 'When the Levee Breaks' by Led Zep, Pilgrims Progress by Procul Harum and 'Undertow' by Genesis (I'm not a hippy) it just builds and builds, and, oh! I'm quite flushed!
i am head-over-heels in love with this band!
Thank you! Those are some good bands that I have never listened to!
Awesome stuff! I love this music.
I hear the mall.
Not anymore. Amazon is killing them off.
@@chriscontact5857 Yes, about half or likely much less (fact be found) of this country DO hear “the mall”; others against the drain of tech giants paying zero taxes must BE IT.
Hahaha love it. And Love this beautiful song. Thank God for humor ❤️
Nice to see that country/bluegrass music doesn't have to be steeped in jingoism and rhetoric to be successful.
Damn good band, great song!
It's rare to find a song that speaks to my soul. OCMS has done it with this song.
Man......I love this stuff...
is that George Porter (bassist from The Meters) driving the bus???? sure looks like him!
I love this song. Can't you hear Johnny Cash singing it?
EddieCoyle kinda. His voice was to deep though
MAN i love this band..ive turned whole companies on to these guys because of friends coming over and me jamming to them. GOD BLESS GOOD MUSIC THAT MEANS SOMETHING!
This here music runs in my family! Gotta love it!
my god hears the voices of all who cry for mercy
+sammi4982 Except for all those who died
Awwwww...All must die. I just meant that truth and kindness will find it's way back to those who crave justice so much that they will find the courage to act justly even when those around them don't seem to. But, yeh, that would be nice if our tears could bring back the ones we love
