"Down Home Girl" Lyrics:
Well I swear your perfume, baby, is made out of turnip greens
Every time I kiss you girl, it tastes like pork and beans
Even though you're wearing those uptown high heels
I can tell from your giant step you've been walking through the cotton fields
Ohhhhhh you're so down home girl
Every time you monkey, child, it takes my breath away
Well, every time you move like that, girl, I got to get down and pray
Girl, you know that dress you're wearin' made out of fiber glass
Every time you move like that, girl, I got to go to Sunday mass
Ohhhhhh you're so down home girl
I'm going to take you to the muddy river and push you in
So I can watch the water roll on down your velvet skin
I'm gonna take you down to New Orleans, down in Dixie land
So I can watch you do the second line with an umbrella in your hand
Ohhhhhh you're so down home girl Subscribe to Nettwerk's CZcams channel:

I saw them last Saturday even though it was in the south; but I'm a hard core rocker and their show blew every metal, rock, blues, etc. show away. They filled up 7 city blocks with people watching the show. People for as far as you could see. It had to be one of the best shows I have ever seen, and I have seen a many rock shows, and they held their own that day.
That is Amazing. Amen. I said that one fellow could give Slim.Shady a run for his money on spitting beats. Man is Fast.
how cool would it be to walk down the street and see old crow preforming.
I know right I love the sex pistols.... lol
Carl Kraft That it would. I met them about 8 years ago after a concert, I'll never forget about it.
I saw them way back in 2001 on the street in Bristol,Tn they were young and wild but man could they play even back then. They had a real live old timey string band sound to it back then. I remember a few years later seeing wagon wheel music video on TNN and I instantly recognized them and knew they were gonna be recognized worldwide eventually
Carl Kraft too cool indeed.
Preforming???
I am a classically trained professional musician and I love this group. What gets played on radio waves these days are just so nauseatingly over-produced/glossied up. But music and musicians like this group still gives me some hope... and that elderly gentleman's comment was just priceless!!!
Just heard this classic on our hard rock station two days ago!! I was shocked!!
got tix to see them this weekend at the Palace Louisville!!! Keepin' bluegrass alive!
You guy's kill it. Great energy and I love that old sound.
one of the best song's I've ever heard!
And thier harp player, whoever he is (i just found out about this group) he is a joy to listen to, and i dont usually like harp music but this guy and little walter are great
It's like the one of those early 70s bands time warped to the present. They are so badass!
i run heavy equiptment and listen to an mp3 all day... ihear these guys 3-4 times a day and never get sick of any of there songs
These guys are the business. Big respect.
This is some old school. Power to it.
I saw this group in Gainesville, FL and they kill it live! One of my favorite concerts of the year.
just saw them last week in Radford, VA...best live performance i have ever seen, and ive seen a lot!!
wow, 15yrs ago, and still my favorite cover of this song,
Minglewood Blues for me. (On Austin City Limits)
love these guys! they play the best music! could listen to them all day!!!!
Bringin some good ol' bluegrass to NYC!
keep it up yall!
these guys are awesome, great vocals, cool harmonica, and i can;t wait till their back in michigan.
that shot of the guy carrying his stand up bass across the street is just so awesome
i also caught them on austin city limits, which i am never able to find anymore, and, whoa, mama, they are down home good! very talented, fun music. great!
it is the "un-couthness" of this song that puts it on my fave list...these guys r awesome
not only do i love the comment at the end by the old man, but i love their reaction, the fact that they left it in the video, and the old man!
YES Can we pleeeeaaaaaaaaaaaasssse get these Old Crows on the west coast again. Saw them in Portland, because it was at the zoo, it ended early and they played for FREE!!!!!!! in roseburg, oregon. Missed that number. I wish they'd fly this way again.????????????
Always loved this song; love it more now!!!
For the love of MUSIC,more than money. It's GREAT to know that their is still something genuine out there.
Love them
What a Badass version , I heard the STONES do it before but never expected this !!!
Alvin Robison relased the original in 1964. The Stones did indeed do a cover but I love Ketch throws in the Beatles harmonica fill from I Should Have Known Better just to be cheeky.
@@shannonbolden1174 pretty cool for sure
These guys have talent! Shows exactly how they sound without all the studio mixes. Love it!
Love this ! It's so NY and So Americana .This is our Music folks !
best Old Crow line up there ever was!
Hands down
I've seen OCMS twice in concert now. They put on a great show. I'd love to see them go on tour with The Hackensaw Boys opening for them.
Hope I get the chance to see them in person
couple of them are from Watkins Glen, NY, some of the members are from Virgina. Great music. Check out the railroad tour!
I just heard a real crappy song and I had to get Old Crow to get my head right again. These guys are to good!
I LOVE OCMS!! This is my fav song by them! Though I think that Willie Watson reminds me a lot of Jim Morrison of the Doors. I love the way he sings!
Dont know what to think. Here I am a guy from the iner city in Cleveland Ohio raised on hip hop and hard rock. And yet This stuff comes on and I just feel the this music so much.... My friends say its my inner Hillbilly trying to come out. I say its just good music .
love it, love these guys :)
The older man dancing is Jerry Leiber, he wrote the song for the Rolling Stones in 1965. A little trivia.
Lololol pool loo 😝 my poop 💩 ok or poo
Alvin 'shine' Robinson first recorded this song in 1964. Apparently the Stones covered it in 1965.
Wrong. Old Crow Medicine Show also did not write this. Alvin Robinson.
Reminds of the early '80s when I rented a room with a porch from a little old lady in the high desert of So Cal. I was listening to David Allan Coe one weekend on the porch and she came outside to do some yardwork. She said she liked the music, and asked if it was disco.
Nothing like making a stand out on the streets…rock on.
Love it !
Awesome band!
These guys really feel their music. That's what it's all about!
Such badass, keep doing what you do.
they used to busk here in my hometown of Boone, NC. No dept stores here I can assure you of that. They were essentially discovered by Doc Watson and given a shot.
Also forgot to mention that OCMS is from Central New York. Ithaca, NY to be exact
I get to see them this Sunday! :D I love their music!!!
great tune!!
LOVE this tune ...and this BAND! THIS STUFF IS THE SHIZNIT.
Good take on the Stones song.
Very cool, thanks.
comin to Chicago soo. I'll see ya there.
Goddamn what a great song, if only more people knew what great music is.
i love that in this video you can actually see that the main singer is the violinist and the harmonica player.
i love the harmonica in this song. does anyone know what key its in or where i can find some tabs?
Dude,no! It's The Clash--don't you know anything?!?!
Best wishes from Northwest Pennsylvania, USA.
Dude with the bass is doin' work walkin down the street with that thing. lol hes like "fuck with me". Awesome song btw. O.C.M.S. is amazing.
saw these guys play at Shepards Bush in London. I had discovered the band just hours before I decided to go with the person who introduced me to them. I was absolutely blown away. It was my first week in London, my first week as an exchange student. It set the stage for an amazing fun filled semester. The closest they come to me this semester is the Clearwater Festival, which doesn't look like my kind of scene. Too family friendly. But I'll probably go just to see OCMS, and I'll be shitfaced.
everything on pop radio now is junk, love this kind of music.... nothin like a little feel good in my soul
Beyond words
My brother and I did the same thing in Austin Texas old crowe is always good
Old crow rocks this tune.
Best song ever!
One of the best songs ever by one of the best bands ever!
I hope you guys kept your day job!!!!
I bout fell out my seat when he said that. Great video.
Too bad I've been missing out on these guys so long. No more
Down Home Girl in NYC!
This is "old time" music..... It was new a while back. And the old guy was obviously having a great time, looks to be their biggest fan in new york.
This is new time old time all time mysic
How cool is it that the Old Timer and myself (27yo) both like this song.
totally believe it, it has the stones feel to it.
First recorded in 1964 by Alvin Robinson. Written by Jerry Lieber and Art Butler. Pure New Orleans soul.
Ketch, Willie and Morgan just came out with a new CD with David Rawlings and Gillian Welch, under the name David Rawlings Machine. They are touring the west coast right now.
Always when I'm listening this song I wish I was down in Dixieland..
Stuff like this never happens in my neighborhood...wish it did.
We go to see them This Tues (2/13) in Tampa...Can't wait!
Love the added heel clicks...and the young boys..Come on mom!
Outstanding
Very nice!

Kinda sounds like Bob Dylan. These guys are great. Glad to see the resurgence in bluegrass/americana style music. Mumford and Sons are another great band.
they'll go back next year other than that they are going to a few states near ny
@shellsbellsglenn Yes we shot this in NY in'06.
This song was originally written by Jerry Lieber and Art Butler and was first recorded by Alvin Robinson in 1964. Don't mean to be a snob, just trying to give credit where its due.
i promise too, and buy em when they first start selling or itll be sold out :D theyre great live
Best song!
they'll be back next year. if you wanna see them that bad i can ask for the scedule to see if there going to any states near you
Very. very, very, very NIce!
These guys have such a beautiful sound, very seductive song.
My first impression of when the officer told them to go to the other side of street was like..Oh yeah, it's way safer over there! Ha,ha. Love O.CM.S. !
love it
GRRRRRR-EATTTT BAND⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ under-rated.
god this song rocks
was the show city stages in Birmingham
That cop, lol...
I bet if he didn't show up until 1/2 way thru the performance (around 2:05 ) he would have been far too scared to approach, muchless disband, these guys, because Ketch standing there playing perfect Bob-Dylan-esque blues-harp rolls, so aggressively, would have put such fear into the heart of that policeman, he would have contracted heart palpitations and run back to the prescient, crying!
...Slink away, boys......slink away!
God Bless The Old Crow Medicine Show, if they aren't just angels disguised as humans, that is, and i'm pretty sure they are, because how else could mortals make such divine goddamn music?!
Well, dude, we just don't know...
dem boyz r da realdeal
the music is somewhat classic cajun-style. I very much enjoyed this music!
