I really liked the video, I do have some theories of my own, particularly for the telephone scene which you mentioned being a little confused by. For the telephone scene, I think there is another reference to The Black Dog there because that song has the lyric: "I just don't understand how you don't miss me In the shower and remember how my rain-soaked body Was shakin', do you hate me?" Hence that is why she is in the soaking rain. I also think the scenery reminds me of the Albatross. That song draws heavily on the major poem "Rime of the Ancient Mariner." That poem involves imagery of seas, the Albatross bird, and big rock formations in the water, the visualization in the music video reminds me a lot of illustrations for The Rime of the Ancient Mariner which you can see on google images if you just search the poem's title. The poet for Mariner was also a contemporary of William Wordsworth an English romantic poet Taylor has referenced before in the song The Lakes and more obliquely with Seven as Wordsworth's most famous poem "We Are Seven" also about childhood expeirences. Finally, the scene where there is paper shaped like her profile in Style has a long road into the dark cloudy west, it reminds me heavily of the cover to Bruce Springsteen's album "Nebraska" which is one of Springsteen's moodier, more poetic, and folk albums. It's often an incredibly dark but beautiful album that I highly recommend. She's referenced Springsteen before in the song "London Boy" as a contrast to her attraction to Alwyn (I love Springsteen, faded blue jeans, Tennessee Whiskey). And Springsteen somewhat recently praised Taylor Swift on the Howard Stern podcast. So while it may seem like a stretch to consider an open road which is pretty common imagery a reference to Springsteen's Nebraska I do think it is apt here and can serve to further push the sadness she feels from the end of her London Boy era sto to speak. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk, lovely video as always. Edit: I also think the telephone booth is referencing Maroon "The rust that grew between telephones" Typewriters tie into the title track, and I think the colors in the scene also reference recent color scenes, she frequently used Blue to describe her lover in previous albums and the orangey gold color hasn't been used much before but maybe it is meant to be more yellow like the Cardigan/Willow videos? Or maybe it is just contrast. Regardless, as someone whose favorite color is orange I really hope she makes an album someday where orange is the primary color scheme lolsob.

In Eternal Sunshine they take “a magic pill” to forget specific parts or people of their past. In the movie Jim Carey and Kate Winslet break up, she takes the pill to forget him so he does the same. They end up meeting again after the pill and find their way back to each other anyway. Kirsten Dunst (who works for the magic pill people) sees what harm the procedure does and takes all the companies files and mails them to their clients, ultimately destroying the procedures purpose. The smoke from the typewriters is their creative energy. They found solace in each other as kindred spirits who channel their angst into their writing craft, to a point where they are almost slaves to it. The scene where the pages are flying around them is profound. He rescues her and then she extends a helping hand to him (as a muse). It's such powerful imagery. Sometimes the imagery stands on its own.
The bed is on an angle while she sings and steps down just like when she sings The One on the roof cabin. To me both songs are about Matty Healy and this clip shows the aftermath of what the relationship did emotionally and mentally to her. The lab coats relate to Matty with him wearing them at his own 1975 concerts.
@@lovelover4408 I don't know, it's just a feeling I have. While some say it's about Harry, it could also be Matty. Roaring 20s and never painting by the numbers with his band 1975 and one of her albums 1989. Can see them tossing pennies in a pool. And with the amount of songs and lyrics in this new album about Matty, I don't think the fans really knew until now how much importance he has played in her romantic life over the years.
@@lovelover4408I think it’s about Matty because of the lyrics that parallel some of Matty’s own. In “Robbers” Matty sings “If you never shoot, you’ll never know. If you never eat, you’ll never grow.” In “The 1” Taylor sings “And if you never bleed, you’re never gonna grow.” Almost like a mashup of his lyrics, taking a thought from each.
I think there's so many references in here that we just don't have the eyes to see yet. She won't disappoint, can't wait until we flash back here in the future and can decipher them!
It's about her and Matty Healy. Everything is in black and white, like the 1975 aesthetic. They are both writers. They write songs about each other. It's symbolic of them writing to each other. I like how his energy was blue because Halsey wrote Colors about him. They are the tortured poets in the tortured poets department in this video. I think it's obvious.
but she wrote songs with Joe. maybe it was from when they wrote songs for evermore and folklore. I think that she has said that she heard Joe singing champagne problems/exile from the other room
3:30 I think instead of lipsyncing "I wanna kill HER" she lipsynced "I wanna kill IT"? She usually has clear enunciation when she speaks. I wonder if that means something.
Good work. Also: Black dress-Clara Bow Hug-Awards show hug Lie detector-Lyrics Good job picking up the dead poets society reference with Ethan and Josh. Not many reactors have gotten that one. :)
Thank you for this video! I always miss something for the brilliant mind she is. I've noticed another Easter egg: The papers burning that are flying around Taylor are the papers from her performance of Lover (Live From Saturday Night Live / 2019) where you can see the papers scattered around her in the air (they are static though! which can give a sense of stability and steadiness in her love life back then, whereas in this music it's quite the opposite). This scene represents the end of her relationship and is another analogy to the Lover house burning down at the Eras tour.
The fact that the video is black and white and no colour could reference ‘You’re losing me’ where she talks about her and Joe’s faces were drained of colour
The second out Taylor wore reminds me of the queen of hearts also when Taylor is on the telephone booth is reminds me of the karma music video when she is in the hourglass
There's also a "blank space" button thing on the typerighter, could be a 1989 reference? the rain scene on top of the telephone box is quite similar to karma, and when the papers are burning, " dear reader burn all the files" another midnight's reference, and as you say the potential cardigan reference. The whole album sounds like 1989 + folklore + midnights, all albums that won Grammy's. Idk these are just things I noticed, love you channel and thank you for livestreaming all the eras tours ❤😊
Sadly its not blank space its back space the arrow above enter on a modern key board no days. on a type writer it resets the position of the page back a line. but it is a qwerty keyboard layout which is the UK standard keyboard the keys on US keyboards slightly different.
Love videos like this! Hahaha btw you forgot the cats on “the end” scene at the end! They are on the 4 corners, I didn’t notice it until I saw someone showing them haha
The scene where she is connected to the electric machine is very reminiscent of the scene in Fritz Lang's Metropolis (accepted at one of the greatest and most influential films ever made) with Brigette Helm as Maria. The film's message is encompassed in the final inter title: "The Mediator Between the Head and the Hands Must Be the Heart"
Great video though just as a side note I believe the dress is more an 1890s reference rather than 1830s which would have had MUCH bigger sleeves to be historically in-line with that time period but the 1890s fashion took a load of inspiration from the 1830s era anyway so it definitely still works but just thought this would be interesting to put here.
an easter egg i noticed is that she's wearing white in the start and she walks through a doorway and then is wearing black. white to black. ttpd to reputation tv. also the black dog in the video is a doberman and theres doberman dogs in blank space mv!
a couple things I noticed ❤️ 1. the blank space key on the typewriter + the space in the word ruining is a reference to the song “blank space” 2. when she puts the pill in her mouth it’s a direct callback to her blank space music video, when she eats a candy 3. when she sits on the telephone box at the end, it looks like when she sat down on the hourglass in the karma MV!
also, the last track of midnights (hits different) the last line was "have they come to take me away" and the first lyric from TTPD was "i was supposed to be sent away"
I love this whole album and this amazing video. Taylor is a musical genius. I see her winning her 5th Album of the Year at the Grammys for this amazing album and even song of the year.
I love this music video so much, even without a bunch of Easter eggs. She and Post Malone work so well together. I do find myself wishing there was a little more Post on the song but maybe we'll get that later like we did with Lana Del Rey on Midnights. Anyway, very much an interesting era we're in right now!
I think she's wearing the mourning black dress while meeting post malone ( matty healy) because she was mourning her relationship with joe!! And remember there were leaked lyrics of slut! that matty wrote?? Kind of like matty and taylor rekindled while writing songs? And idk but some 1975 were like he's written songs about her!! And remember how she was singing cardigan while saying you know who you are n stuff? Maybe its about him 🤔

The colors of the "smoke" coming from her and Post are the shades commonly used in Twin Flame circles.
I’m wondering if it’s a reference to colors by Halsey which is also written about Matty Healy.
Aren't those the same colors she and Ice Spice use in Karma mv?
The curly hair in that one scene could be hinting at debute tv
You know I'm so glad that you make these videos kelvin like i could never decode all this by my self 😭😭
Thank you for giving us this video researching Taylor's Easter Eggs and pulling it together!! Love it!!!
Why do you think The One is about Matty Healy?
@@lovelover4408 I don't know, it's just a feeling I have. While some say it's about Harry, it could also be Matty. Roaring 20s and never painting by the numbers with his band 1975 and one of her albums 1989. Can see them tossing pennies in a pool. And with the amount of songs and lyrics in this new album about Matty, I don't think the fans really knew until now how much importance he has played in her romantic life over the years.
I don't think the timeline fits with matty, she was still together with joe when that song came out
@@CallmethespacemanThat song is about pining for someone. You can pine for other people when you’re in a relationship you’re not happy with.
I thought that about the blue too!!
just letting u know, that Halsey song is called colors
but she wrote songs with Joe. maybe it was from when they wrote songs for evermore and folklore. I think that she has said that she heard Joe singing champagne problems/exile from the other room
@@vanib4569 nope... even in folklore many songs are clearly about matty, with some of the same metaphors and references she's using in ttpd.
@@Ilovebrushingmyhorse omg yes duh, thanks I corrected my comment.
I DIDNT EVEN NOTICE THE STYLE AND STORY OF US REFERENCES!! THATS SO CRAZY
The style reference was the obvious one. The telephone thing is super confusing
I've been listening to the double album for so long today! Ttpd era!
I finished it! It was so good
3:30 I think instead of lipsyncing "I wanna kill HER" she lipsynced "I wanna kill IT"? She usually has clear enunciation when she speaks. I wonder if that means something.
Good work. Also:
Black dress-Clara Bow
Hug-Awards show hug
Lie detector-Lyrics
Good job picking up the dead poets society reference with Ethan and Josh. Not many reactors have gotten that one. :)
Thank you kevin for your daily uploads
OMG WHEN DID YOU GET VERIFIED I LOVE YOU🫶🏻
IF ANYONE DOESNT KNOW ERIK!! WATCH HIS VIDEOS!! HEY SLAY DONT WALK RUNNNNN
Hi Erik
You keep me updated on Taylor, thanks 😊
Her, burning all the files and papers can also be a reference to Dear Reader's "Dear reader, burn all the files, desert your past lives"
Totally enjoying the ride! Thanks Kevin, I always love your breakdowns.
I’m literally dying this album is fire
2:22 cus it’s gravity keeping you with me 💔
Omg I didn’t even put things together 😊
Loved the video and the music great editing and style
really enjoyed it thank you
Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles also had name tags with the last name of their dead poets society character on them! it’s my favorite easter egg ever
The fact that the video is black and white and no colour could reference ‘You’re losing me’ where she talks about her and Joe’s faces were drained of colour
They typing of i love you its ruining my life def gives off the shining vibes to me. All work and no play makes jack a dull boy
I agree. Which brings back the people in dog costumes in We Are Never Getting Back Together...which also has a pay phone.
Thanks for uploading daily Kevin!!
Loved this breakdown of the "easter eggs". Thank you.
Something I also noticed is the Post has a wedding band on when they in the typewriting room and then no ring on when he has no tattoos.
Thanks for the explanation❤
"No one is replaceable, and that includes you" ❤ I needed this ❤
Oh! And The Richter scale looking thingy is typing down the lyrics instead of her heartbeat! "i love you it's ruining my life"
the "richter scale looking thingy" is called electrocardiogram.
Great job. Loved the video. Just around awesome. ❤❤❤❤
@@Braywen ahh okok
Love videos like this! Hahaha btw you forgot the cats on “the end” scene at the end! They are on the 4 corners, I didn’t notice it until I saw someone showing them haha
Kevin, this was such a good video!!!!
At 5:57 on the machine next to post Malone you can actually see a little sticker of a snake on fire hinting at reputation
OMG true! 😲
GET READY KEVIN POSTED!
As a Speak Now obsessed Stan I starting screaming when she was reading The Story of Us..
Posty playing Joe / Matty is impeccable casting
The scene where she is connected to the electric machine is very reminiscent of the scene in Fritz Lang's Metropolis (accepted at one of the greatest and most influential films ever made) with Brigette Helm as Maria. The film's message is encompassed in the final inter title: "The Mediator Between the Head and the Hands Must Be the Heart"
Also the opening and closing clips are like a silent movie, referencing Clara Bow!
Her lipstick is in the shape of Clara Bow's too
Clara Bow also underwent ECT.
Amazing video love love love it ❤
i love how the video was 8 minutes and 2 seconds long.. great vid btw
Black and white videos 20th century look is 1975 signature style!! And the sound is extremely similar!
The scene at 5:33 reminds me of Taylor running to Joe in rep tour movie 😔
The scene where she’s on top of the telephone box is giving me like karma mv vibes
Thanx Kevin, you're the best!!!!
Boys only want love if it's *torture*
a couple things I noticed ❤️
1. the blank space key on the typewriter + the space in the word ruining is a reference to the song “blank space”
2. when she puts the pill in her mouth it’s a direct callback to her blank space music video, when she eats a candy
3. when she sits on the telephone box at the end, it looks like when she sat down on the hourglass in the karma MV!
also, the last track of midnights (hits different) the last line was "have they come to take me away" and the first lyric from TTPD was "i was supposed to be sent away"
My friend sent me a screenshot of post and Taylor in this scene 5:39 and said “Travis after seeing this 👁️👄👁️” 😂😂
I’m happy I’m not the only one that did a double take lmao
I love this video, I love this album, and I love this era.
I love this whole album and this amazing video. Taylor is a musical genius. I see her winning her 5th Album of the Year at the Grammys for this amazing album and even song of the year.
Thank you Kevin!!
5:01 😭😭💀
2:22 ....the entire room is titled to one side....could be a reference to the lyric in lymmd. "I don't like your titled stage"
This is exceptional, Love this song and video.

11 Bobby pins on our right side of her hair
Her in the rain on top of the phone box (imo) is a Delicate call back.
The last scene in the rain could be a call to Fearless, "But with you, I'd dance in a storm, in my best dress, Fearless"
