- Maggie Rogers, singer, songwriter, and producer, releases her sophomore studio album, 'Don’t Forget Me'.
Maggie Rogers sits down with Zane Lowe to have a conversation around the significance of track listing in shaping the narrative of an album. Maggie expresses how this record feels like she’s “coming home”, and the record her younger self wished she could one day create.
Reflecting on the songwriting process, she strives to avoid overthinking her lyrics. In her approach to collaboration, she explains that she looks for someone who can challenge her and fill the distance between her brain and her instrument.

don’t forget me is like it’s 2011 june and i’m dreaming with my headphones on by the beach
Maggie is an old soul in a young body. I’m totally obsessed!
she is also a resonant body 😀
I love this album and it's like her first album. Like I wanna know all the lyrics and there isn't one song that felt like NO, I don't like but I like all of them. Love love and it's on repeat!
I could listen to my favorite artists talking about their favorite artist allllll day. Maggie you are GOLD!
I love this conversation. I have been so excited for this album and listening to it was the event for the evening. It feels like the album you want to slow down to and cherish moments.
She is so f’ing cool, one of the few people I want to know deeply.
I'm so excited to see her live in London😁😢😁
This is soooo interesting!!! Thank you so much. Maggie always moves me and iscaptivating...could listen to them talking all day.
What a fantastic interview! Maggie is such a talented and beautiful artist and human.
As Zane mentioned, I could see both Tyler and Maggie cherishing their inner child. So powerful. They open my heart. Thank you for a great interview
I enjoy hearing Maggie talk music.
wow what a great conversation! and the album is so good!
36:30 - I actually just got into the habit of making monthly hour long playlists and started sharing them with a friend. I highly recommend it.
I’d love to see your playlists! I never had a friend to trade mix CDs with in my youth, but my sister did and I was always so jealous of that…do you have Apple Music or Spotify?
It truly makes driving a joy. Just let the album run! ❤
loved her from the beginning, will love her forever - so amazing to be allowed to watch her grow!
Agreed.
Zane is incredible, giving Maggie questions that allow us to really deep dive into her mind. Thank you both ❤
He is a master class in music interviews. He listens and sees the artists he interviews!
Wow they’re convo on pop culture! That’s exactly how I’ve been feeling but couldn’t put the words to it
We need a feist/maggie collab 🙆🏻♀️
YES THIS YES YES THIS YES @maggierogers YES
Great talk, great record!
The new album is excellent. Lyrics are fantastic and rhythm effortlessly melodic. An element that is slowly drifting away is a sense of whimsy that was really enjoyable about the first album. Maybe a consequence of age but I hope some of it returns in the future.
such an evolved and genius artist
Who couldn’t help but contrast Maggie’s perspective on using storytelling in music to process relationships to Taylor’s (@9:45 and @10:52)? No shade, I’m a big fan of both, but it was the first thing that came to mind as I heard them discussing “savaging” an ex… 😅 ❤
Me! Lmao I think I like Maggie’s view ob this
I am in awe of this woman.
This can look as a superficial comment, but it isn't... I never look at this stuff, but I just can't stop noticing how her tee compliments her eyes and her jacket compliments her hair, or vice-versa... One of the things I like about Maggie is that it seems that nothing that she does is by accident.
Beautiful interview, cant wait to listen to her new album tomorrow!
Bravo, Maggie!
I'm so excited for this album!
Taurus sister
been waiting for this one 🙏 thank u zane lowe and maggie rogers
10:01 "I believe so much mutual culpability in relationships". Wow, Maggie with the maturity and healthy perspective. Rare. love that. You're the best!
I'll always love Maggie's authenticity. She's so accessible.
Maggie's third album, surely? (your notes say 'sophomore')
I was thinking the same thing
Hey Maggie Rodgers from 1902'..* I met a recovery artist guitar player here and one day I called him Eon...but his name is Ethan.. and you sound like Carrie the Character...."
77000 " Half of the Nation "...
Very sweet! thanks!
I'm so excited for her new album and this interview makes it even more exciting!!! Go Maggie 💚
Surrender is an album that every time I revisit it, I discover new things that I just love.
6 or 7 songs into ANOTHER record?! God, I love this woman so much.
Oh my gosh...her spicy voice suits her personality..🔥🔥
She is stunningly beautiful
wholesome
Her ‘Surrender’ interview is how I discovered her and I’ve been obsessed ever since!!!
That was her Maggie" and his witness is true" my witness ".,,
She was a friend she died...years ago..
Maggie there is a Dear Crossing here a trail' and the does that crossed looked like they ARE SUNG TO AND A MISTY Coat surrounds them...
A chest " opening". Sister colupo...lol
That console bomb effect really cheapens the interview. Someone should play a practical joke on Zane Lowe and replace the bomb effect with a kazoo sound.
Love Maggie! Double Boom! 💥💥
Idk. I love her. Fight me
Not her Sophomore album....this is her third
they need more ipads in the studio
Lovely! I enjoyed it just like I enjoy a $800k monthly around the turn!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, I'd feel like that sometimes. Tell me about it!!!!🙏
$500K monthly is something you should feel differently about.....
After I raised up to 325k trading with her I bought a new House and a car here in the states 🇺🇸🇺🇸 also paid for my son's surgery (Oscar). Glory to God.shalom.....
Absolutely! I've heard stories of people who started with little to no knowledge but made it out victoriously thanks to Renee Marie Harrison.
I know that woman (Renee Marie Harrison)
If you were born and raised in new York you'd know too, she's my family's Broker for 3yrs till now and a very good one if you asked me. No doubt she is the one that helped you get where you are!!!!
Maggie is such a class act, obsessed with her music and so happy to see Zane sit down with her for an interview. 🩷
Does he only interview Nepo babies? This lady grew up in a 10 million dollar home and mommy and daddy paid for her NYU and Harvard education- she’s trying WAY too hard to be bohemian and NEVER address her rich upbringing
I don’t care if she’s rich or poor. She makes good music.
this is such a small view. like she had a choice in her upbringing. she has been consistent from day one. she is a worker. she is completely authentic. i have followed her from her start and there is nothing 'bohemian ' about her. she is HERSELF.
@@asweetiepiebtw2032well said.. as someone who grew up poor i don’t have a problem with maggie and her upbringing… maybe somebody has a problem with their own upbringing and is projecting it on to maggie
Her mom was a nurse and now is a doula, her dad worked at a Ford dealership. Even if she was a nepo baby, I’m sorry this is all you got out of a fantastic interview about a talented and driven artist.
Everyone should be so blessed as to have access to education, whether from merit or income-based scholarships, or the blessing of family members who can pay your tuition. 🥰
