Post Malone: Tiny Desk Concert

The Tiny Desk has hosted plenty of major pop, rock and hip-hop stars in its 15-plus years, but you'd be hard-pressed to find one more agreeable or self-effacing than Austin Richard Post. Whether lamenting the state of his singing voice, joking about his nerves or sitting slack-jawed in awe of the fantastic band his people had assembled for this show, Post had the bearing of a lottery winner who wouldn't even give himself credit for buying a ticket.
Before, during and after the show, Post Malone was a joy to have around. But he also just happened to bring a few of the biggest pop hits of the 21st century: Set-opener "Sunflower," for example, has been certified eighteen-times platinum by the RIAA since its release in 2018 - that's an all-time record - while the 2017 single "I Fall Apart" and 2019's "Circles" lag behind at a mere ten-times platinum apiece. "Enough Is Enough," which closes this set, enjoys no such designation, but give it time: A track from Post Malone's new album Austin, it's only been out for a few weeks.
So enjoy this set for what it is: one of the world's biggest stars, performing a few of the world's biggest songs, each set to a luminous arrangement. Post Malone himself seems surprised by how great this Tiny Desk concert sounds, and that's not just the humility talking.

I’m 75year old. Had stopped listening to music for years. Listening to Post Malone I am back. I love his voice and I can understand the lyrics Thank You !
I hear you. I am a 70s music fan. am in my 60s and love Taylor Swift (with her mature voice). Definitely one of the best songwriters ever - her storytelling is exceptional and her lyricism is bar none (I recommend folklore - it is mostly stories) And you can u set stand everything she says without looking at lyrics.
This version of Sunflower is tremendously electrifying. Very good interpretation by the team and obviously by Posty.
And it can't be found on spotify :(
?? I don't understand people saying this since he litterally couldn't pitch it😅
An acoustic version of Sunflowers with piano and violins? Are you kidding me? Austin, are you kidding me?! Stunning.
He did something brilliant, which was to make the sound really *big* even though it's acoustic. So it's a really warm sound, instead of desperate or lonely. They're all breakup songs.
They have been with him this tour, he has performed with a live band, including the classical instruments. It was fantastic.
Absolutely georgous
😊
So Humble 🎉
He has a singer songwriters mentality. No matter how big he’s gotten, he still has all the awkward genuine energy of someone who truly cares about his craft. Breath of fresh air.
You can tell, even though I don't listen at all and know only the most famous titles from his repertoire, they all sound like something only he could have done. There was this one time too I wasn't sure it was his voice I was listening to but I recognized him still because his style was a bit different, but the vibe was there.
I couldn't agree more it reminded me of Mac Miller's mini desk concert in the sense that you can see and hear the passion for their craft and the music.
@@irollerblade13I came here to say that ❤
@@irollerblade13yeaaa that's what was on my mind too. They both given the same vibes and energy

i Fall Apart was already such a powerful song... but this version is tear jerking.
He came straight from the soul with that one! I just wish that it was longer😢
Watch the live Rome version. Cry everytime
Legit chills when the notes came out....wow
real
When Post says “Thank You” so graciously as the back up came in on Enough is Enough, that was one of the most powerful expressions of how much he appreciates that he doesn’t just make this happen on his own. It all came full circle in those moments!
I definitely feel the genuine attitude too 🥺
He needs to do an album with this ensemble and 0 auto tune. Dude's natural voice has so much emotion even when it's not at 100%
All the little imperfections in this set are awesome. Everytime his voice cracks, he fails to finish a sentence fully, gives everything so much emotion and raw beauty. It's incredible
Watch his nirvana covers .
@@samiamiamifer I would love Metal/Punk album from him. His new album has less autotune. Those Nirvana tribute were dope! Saw it livestreaming in COVID

What I love about Post Malone is in many ways he’s us. He’s had his struggles, his issues, his triumphs. And at the end of the day he knows what has been, but doesn’t forget what is and will be. Watching his growth gives us all a path. And his humble nature lets the true talent show. That’s all of us if you choose it.
If you read that and thought, “that’s not me”, I ask you to reassess your thought. I promise Richard Post would agree.
To see an artist so vulnerable and with the nerves of intimacy in music shine and push through is beautiful. Austin Post is someone I look up to and the little brother I never had. Would love to hear a record like this or a full orchestra backing him. Well done.
The version of I Fall Apart was on another level. The lyrics cut so much deeper sung in such a "raw" state. Goosebumps.
Yeah the song is good, but then you hear this version ans you really feel it for the first time
More like a battle cry. Visceral.
I loved “I fall apart” before but when I heard this one… OmG!! I’m forever a fan of Post Malone.
The violins put it on a whole other level
Couldn’t agree more. A surprise stat from this concert, in my opinion.
THIS IS SO GOOD! His natural voice is just incredible and filled with passion. I want a full album with it.
Jon Sandman, seeing you here really hit me with a bunch of Rocket League nostalgia, used to chill while watching you do openings
ok fair enough he is post molone crazy artist and perfomer, i listen to his music from time to time... but if you listen to the first minute with your eyes closed.. its rough.
@@andresfb75 I think he doesn't sound good at all. Possibly touring took a toll on his voice then again the live clips I have seen he mostly just sings over a playback track which is pretty lame but the standard these days I reckon. Still like some of his music

You speak the truth, brother!!
I love his voice. Wish he'd do a whole acoustic album.
His old CZcams account from when he was in HS is still up and it's mostly acoustic guitar stuff

It needs to happen

I didn’t think it was possible to love any of these songs more but holy sh*t we need an acoustic postu album (WITH STRINGS!!!!) ASAP
That was the best NPR desk concert I've see in a long time.
