That Volvo was sad. It survived 30-odd years only to be killed like that.

When your car starts to float, I think you've overestimated the wading ability of your car. Love it!
It's funny how they keep steering the car,
I like how they drive into the water like they are launching a speedboat 🤣🤣🤣🤪🤪
My personal theory is because we've all seen cars go full speed into water in commercials and random movies, they probably think it's the proper way to do it lol.

A cubic meter of water weighs one tonne. Just imagine how large some of the hydraulic pressures are that build up under the bonnets of some of these cars and trucks when they hit the water at full tilt.
Yes, a lot of Aircon/cooling matrixes will be damaged after having tons of water shot through them at high speed.
As evidenced by so many car parts flying off so frequently!
Including that nice Raptor grille from the blue Ranger last week.
weighs even more when its dirty
They engines will get Hydrolocked too, just blows parts out the engine casings. Full engine replacements in some if not all cases.

When you look up the registrations of the hydro locked vehicles, some can’t be found on the DVLA database; which means we are seeing the last moments of some of these cars.
I love how you went through the trouble of looking that up, I would never have thought of it. Cheers.
We probably should be seeing the last moments of some of those drivers too ........

For those driving company vehicles, lets hope the job market is as buoyant as their vehicles.
Watching each one of those is watching someone lose their job.
They deserve to lose their jobs, it clearly shows at what depth the water is but still they decide to carry on. Reckless negligence.
As a company boss faced with an insurance claim form with the 'accident' location stated as Rufford,, I would be sitting through these clips to check for any contradictory evidence 😜
Luckily it its very needed market

Just what I was thinking! Likewise the leasing/finance companies. Hopefully they are and the owners will get told "you're a dickhead, pay for a new engine yourself." It might teach a few people a much needed lesson in commonsense and also perhaps a bit of respect for expensive items.
As for those driving company vehicles - what a strange way to hand your notice in 🤣
Exactly. I saw a road rage incident where the woman steered at the other car and rammed it / mounted it on purpose. I forwarded the video link to the insurer of that vehicle. I don't think that's mean. It just means our premiums might be a bit lower due to not having to pay out so many.
these cretins are the reason my insurance goes up every year.
The best fails are the soft roaders. They think they've bought a real off roader, only to learn the hard way
The Golf driver frantically steering as the car starts to float…. Must have ordered the ‘rudder’ option 🤦🏻♂️

I suppose about 10 grand each.
This makes me think of all those people who have tried to get some toast out of the toaster with a metal knife, or people who see electric fence beware but still have to touch to see if it is working. We all have seen these type of people and this vid shows a perfect few.
It's like them seeing the sign 'wet paint', they just can't resist.
'Do NOT press this big red bu.....'
The best way to test the fence is to piss on it.
Pretty easy to get toast out the toaster w a metal knife if you know the technique - similar thing here for the lower water levels 😉
Well, we all know they are idiots. But they are idiots a second time when they get towed out. Do people not realise you should stand well clear or tow ropes and "snatch-um" straps in case they, or the anchor point breaks?
In fact the rule of thumb is for non-drivers is to stand at a distance twice the length of the tow rope. Yet here we have people leaning over the back of their van virtually holding on to one end of the rope.
Compounding the situation is that most of these people probably don't even know how to attach a tow-rope securely to their vehicle or know whether their tow-rope is in good condition and rated for the load.
Now I agree that the tow speeds are slow and and mostly gentle, but we certainly see cases where the handbrake is still on or the car still in gear. That will certainly strain up a tow rope and an anchor point to the point that they could cause very real damage if they break.
If it's not this it's the speeding cars through this place. This whole place is an accident waiting to happen. Something is going to happen, be it a snapped tow rope, someone being hit or a car crashing. Something's gonna happen.
You’re absolutely right about tow ropes. When they break, the sound they make is comparable to a gunshot. If it whips you, it’ll slice you open. If it pulls the carabiner hook off, it’ll punch through your face.
Maybe they stay near the tow rope for exactly the case that it snaps and don't want to lose the snapped end în the water! 😇🤣
Aka the triangle of death.
I like how there's literally a depth indicator, but people just choose to ignore it.
Apart from a bloody big sign that says "Flooding Road Closed" Same drivers say that the road code does not apply to them because they are excellent and skilled drivers
Someone should put a sign in front of the ford: your car is not a boat!

So many good cars wrecked, it breaks my heart, but can't stop watching this
Great destruction derby for those engines. Hard to believe the drivers have no idea cars have an air intake under that bonnet.
The old Volvo makes me feel so sad watching it. Such a clean looking motor and now it's dead!
Don’t get how low the air intake must be in that old Volvo given how carefully he took it, water level so low!?
It probably just got water on the distributor, their intakes are really well designed so I doubt it hydrolocked.
Felt the same thing. Hope it’s ok 👍

Imagine if there was some indication that it's too deep and that perhaps the road is closed... 🤷♂
the local repair shop is having a blast if i see all these vehicles.
90% of these actually had a chance to make it if they knew how to drive. Don’t gun it through water just go slow and as long as the intake is angled the water won’t flood it. But blasting through makes it splash and hydro lock the vehicle.
And don't do it when it's above 1.5-2 foot as your car will float lol (start of the video it was close to 3 foot bonkers)
Technically an EV could have passed through with no problem. Just look at the video on CZcams where a guy in US tried to immerse his Tesla Model S into water deeper than this
Insurance may not even cover some of these vehicles. They'd probably class it as an avoidable risk.
Lets hope so, why should the rest of us have higher premiums as a result of these idiots
"I'm tellin ya, it was a flash flood!"
Insurance definitely won't pay out. They'll only pay out if it is unavoidable flood damage, for example, if your car is parked, and the area gets flooded. Even then it'd be a struggle to get money out of them unless it is somewhere that you normally park

I'm sure it can be fixed. Just take the sparkplugs of and turn the engine over and dry the ignition system!
@@AKw211 It depends how much water got in and how much damage it did internally - it could go as far as needing a new engine if it bent enough parts.
You've also got possible interior damage from water ingress, though hopefully that can be dried out without any lasting damage.

I don’t think looking under your bonnet is going to help after you’ve filled your engine block with water.
Reminds me when I asked my local car dealer why he had a new rangerover engine in bits all over his workshop. Dealer: "He didn't know he needed the off-road pack to go off road"! Now I understand!
I've just seen you on BBC News website 4/3/22, congrats on your success Ben, from an early subber!
I've seen a couple of fails involving the VW Amarok, none that made it over here. Seems like it is a fake pickup truck, not really built for work, just looks like one, but it's just a normal car underneath. I've seen more Toyota Aygos pass through here than Amaroks!
i haven't laughed so much in ages thanks mate
It is interesting how people rush through as fast as possible as though they are expecting to help the vehicle to hold its breath but creating a massive pile up of water. Then with the internals obviously in a bad way from the hydraulicing then they try to start the engine probably further trashing it. I remember being in a bus with a massive big end knock and it finally gave way and we ground to a halt. The driver then spent 20 minutes trying to restart the engine and if was not entirely ruined at the first fail it probably was beyond redemption by the end of that futile operation. I suppose many people are not aware what is happening under the bonnet and often in England people swell up with pride telling me they have never lifted the bonnet on their car. A true gentleman obviously has a chap do these sort of things for him. I expect a lot of people get very soggy parcels in this area especially from DPD 'your delivery experts'.
Next step: buy an offroader (with a high up snorkel ofc) and make a few pound towing them out after filming. :D
A fine collection of soggy Muppets!
6:50 Hope she enjoys the flat spots on those tires lol, she drove straight through the ford like it was a puddle lol
I think the 2 tyres are the least of their worries.... Probably needs a new engine + loads of electronics... Prob better to replace the entire car to be honest.
As stuinNorway said, tyres are the least of their worries! The reason the rear tyres are locked is because that BMW is RWD, and the engine has been Hydrolocked by the water as the air intake is down low in the front bumper.
Minimum it'll need a complete engine rebuild, possibly a new block too, and likely a new transmission and, and maybe diff whilst they're at it. Add to that the water damage to the electrics, and like many of the cars you've seen above, it'll probably be a complete insurance right off.
The tyres are the smallest problem
@@jaykay5369 Don't forget the interior decor and carpets are probably buggered too with all that brown water.

I really hope their insurance doesn't pay out. Shouldn't be raising the rest of our premiums for their idiocy!
you clearly don't know how insurance works if you think they'll be paying for this. If you're fully comp. then yes, you can claim against yourself and in turn lose your no claims, other than that. no, there won't be a payout. if someone claims against themselves, it's only effecting themselves. Do you even have a car? lol
Most insurers won't pay out for avoidable flood damage, especially when there is a 'Road Closed' sign and very deep water.
Under certain circumstances you might be able to claim on a fully comprehensive policy, but you'd have to prove it was unavoidable.
