    Hello and thank you for making this video! I was wondering what year is the vehicle in the video? I need to replace this part in my 2018 Hyundai Elantra SEL and wanted to see if the procedure was the same. Thank you!

      They are all pretty much the same. Just be sure and have it properly charged with a machine as the vacume process is very important to insuring the system is dry and the refrigerant and oil can work properly to ensure long compressor life.

    Great video! Thanks. I'm going to give it a go. Are you supposed to flush the lines too?

    • @YouCanFixIt
      @YouCanFixIt  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Very much recommended we replace the condenser 90% of the time. Most warranty for kits require flush or replacement

    I hope I can get an answer.
    -- I have a Kia soul 2012 2.0L automatic. The compressor has been leaking a drop for some time. I tried to stop it with RTV silicone but not luck. The car has 74K miles, A/C is cooling fine, and compressor is working. Do you think I will need to replace expansion valve and Drier with 74K miles and the system working just fine?
    -- I already bought a brand-new compressor (OEM), and planning for next year to change it. summer is coming and I live in the desert with 110 degrees.
    I keep my car in good shape. I'm not a stupid kid keeping the car full of garbage, and never take care of their car, so now you know how my car will be.
    -- I will appreciate any reply. Thank you for this video and your answers.

      You must replace the dryer and flush the system to keep your compressor warranty in tact. It is strongly recommended to replace the condenser when replacing the compressor.

    So your recommendation is to replace the condensor or just the bag inside the condensor?

    • @YouCanFixIt
      @YouCanFixIt  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Always the condenser....the bag in a pinch flushing does not always remove all the crap from a failure.

    What would cause the ac to blow cold at idle and low speeds but blow hot at high speeds?

    • @YouCanFixIt
      @YouCanFixIt  Před rokem

      First thing to check would be refrigerant charge . Have it evacuated and recharged second something causing compressor to stop spinning if pressures get to high or to low it will stop as well as a problem with the ac clutch itself. Damage or restrictions across the condenser coil will not allow the the refrigerant to discharge the heat from the system. Sometimes a faulty tps will also tell the computer to stop the ac. The usually happens on a hard accelerating. Most likely is a low refrigerant charge

    How long is the job to replace a ac compressor on a 2009 hyundai elantra?

    • @YouCanFixIt
      @YouCanFixIt  Před 8 měsíci +1

      To do properly should take about 4 to 5 hrs this should include replacing x valve dryer and flushing system and drying. The act of vacuuming system should take a minimum 30 min with another 30 to leak check ie hold vacume. We charge between 12 and 1500 to do the job and will have a warranty of 2 years. Most compressor manufacturers have a procedure that you must follow to prevent voided warranty.

      @greg6925 you can use ac flush I would recommend something alchohol based you could use also denatured alchohol witch is what we prefer

      It only has one fan and works fine turns on and off when it needs to or how would I check for operation

    • @YouCanFixIt
      @YouCanFixIt  Před rokem

      @@manuelOrtiz-lh1iy have it evacuated and recharged to proper charge there are a couple factors that could cause that but most common are going to be the fan or the air direction over the condensor low coolant level. the fact it cools good when driving hints at fan issue.

    Hyundai Elantra klimamla ilgili bir sorunum var Soğuduğundan daha çok soğutur ve ayrıştırır. En büyük problem klima içeriden kapatıldığında kompresör çalışmaya devam ediyor.. ve siz motoru durdurmadığınız sürece çalışmayı bırakmıyor.

    • @YouCanFixIt
      @YouCanFixIt  Před rokem

      If your compressor is not turning off or cycling you could have a switch problem, there could also be a pressure switch malfunction.
      as for it not cooling over time this could be due to too little r134a or a malfunction of the expansion valve. I would start with evacuate and recharge of the system with a long 30inch vacume for about an hour to boil off any moisture that is in the system.

    Not sure I understand what the original problem was. Getting ready to tackle this on the wife's car, can a home mechanic do this without the fancy machine?

    • @YouCanFixIt
      @YouCanFixIt  Před rokem +1

      Sure nothing but a big model. I would recommend that you have the refrigerant pulled and replaced by a machine this will allow your work to last longer insuring you have the proper refrigerant and oil within the system.

    • @YouCanFixIt
      @YouCanFixIt  Před rokem +1

      The original problem was ac compressor was locked up causing engine to shut down. Again would highly recommend taking to shop to have system recovered and filled this will ensure you don't over or under fill system as pressures alone don't dictate if it is full or not

      @@YouCanFixIt appreciate it, will most shops perform that even if you do parts replacement yourself?

    • @YouCanFixIt
      @YouCanFixIt  Před rokem

      @GeneHarrisonHOWDY yes and by law they cannot turn it down. Just get a reputable shop you can search Google for good local place. Ask them to recover the system when you complete the repair then take back and ask them to recharge the system. This will ensure you remove any moisture from the system that can cause future issues in a big way. Being clean about connections and lube the oring connections with ac oil you should be just fine

    • @YouCanFixIt
      @YouCanFixIt  Před rokem +1

      @GeneHarrisonHOWDY we do it all the time. We even program stuff that others have replaced that being said we don't guarantee you did the repairs correctly. But we will Preform the service. Usually if there is a problem there going to know pretty quick...if does not hold 30in of vacuum for 4min then there is a leak and they should not charge system

      Honestly every manufacturer right now have major faults. Ford is dealing with engines that won't make 500 miles. Gm has the whole Active Fuel Management fiasco. The public holds some blame for purchasing vechicles at luxury price points and getting economy parts and R&D, then continue to purchasing these products without holding the manufacturers responsible for quality. The automotive age in America was built on quality now its moved to experimental designs and poor quality.
