    Vets must love people like Wallace, he knows his animals, he knows when something isn't right, and whilst he had a fair idea what was causing it, he still whisked Kipper off to see the vet, just to be sure. I know Dr Kate has said in the past that the best pet owners are the ones who bring in their animal, knowing that they are "not right", which allows her to catch problems before the standard symptoms even show up. When the vet can trust an owners instinct, and when an owner completely trusts the vet in return, that's when the animals get the best possible care.

      I have had several pets dogs in the past and now, I usually know when there is some not right with my pets, and when I don, they go right to the vets immediately and get the care they need, because my dogs are treated like they are my babies. That's how much love I have for them. They deserve the best care in my eyes. As you can tel ,I am an ANIMAL LOVER, my dogs gave me so much and ask for so little in return, I have NO IDEA how some people can be SO CRUEL TO THEIR PETS. THE PETS HA E DON NOTHING TO BE TRER LIKE THAT. IT MAKES ME SO MAD !😠😠😠 I am a man who has No Family more, because of some BAD SITUATIONS THAT HAS HAPPENED TO ME. SO MY PETS ARE MY BABIES. My dogs name is Kookie, and my last dogs name was Bella, they are both Pitbulls, I have No Idea why they have a bad rap, probably because of the owners, but pitbull are the most friendlest dogs and dry family orientated dog a owner can have ,IF TREATED IN THE RIGHT WAY YOU WOULD WANT TO BE TREATED !BUT ALL ANIMALS NEED TO BE TREATED WITH RESPECT AND CARED FOR IN THE RIGHT WAY. I BELONG TO TO THE A.S.A.P. ORG AND DONATE MONEY EACH AND EVERY MONTH. 😅😅😅Why do I donate p, because I care, everyone should care, I think !

      @@KeithDickson-rm2fp I wish more people cared as deeply as you do. I understand your love for Pitbulls, such a loving, loyal breed. They do not deserve the bad reputation they have, because as you say, some very irresponsible and cruel people wanted to treat sweet animals like weapons. Much love to you and Kookie, may you have many many wonderful years together!

Speaking of Lucy she hits me like my buddy Rumples ya know, bullseye in the feels! This happened twice to my pomeranian cross paplion , once to each ear. He was 13yrs the first time and 15yrs the second time. He had no infections in any ear and was told it was fairly common in floppy eared old dogs and was probably caused by a combination of old age and scratching or shaking his ears. $1200 an ear later and he was fine with no reoccurence of the problem. He's now 17yrs and is showing no signs of slowing down at all.

    My old cat Puffy had a lump on his ear like Lucy did. He kept pouncing on his sister Patches head and then she had had enough and swung around and swatted and bit at him and she caught his ear in her mouth. He yelped and went to hide under the couch and then 20 minutes later they were cuddling again. We checked his ear and there was a mark but there was no blood so we figured OK well he does not seem to be in pain and they are back to cuddling no biggie. Yeah a day later we noticed him scratching at his ear and there was a small bump...so we made an appointment for the vet and he had a blood clot in his ear. It was the size of a large blue berry by the time we got in 4 days later. They drained it and then stitched him up and it thankfully never came back but his ear never stood straight up like it used to again, They said it was some slight nerve damage in his ear but he could hear fine and nothing else seemed to be damaged so we just had a slightly lopsided looking cat after that lol He was a sweet boy so we did not care.

    When dogs get their ears shaved, they can get hematomas in their ears from shaking their heads. They need to wear muffs to keep their ears from shaking.

  • @2qlrn273
    @2qlrn273 Před rokem +7

    Regarding Lucy's aural hematoma, I had 2 large dogs who each came down with this a few months apart. I'd recently read about it, but was also a beginner EFT student that was trying that on various problems. So I "EFTed' treatment for this problem in my dogs.
    The first case was a Rottie, & her ear was FULL. During the EFT treatment I said for her to slowly drain the fluid out where I could clean it away easily, so the edges could heal back together & keep the skin naturally smooth. . . . I was very happy to see it starting to drain the next morning . . . & I was able to wipe it up several times a day, with it healing totally smooth like it had been before!
    When the other dog then came down with the same problem, also seemingly over-night . . . I suspected something in their food . . . so switched them to a NON-grain diet. I also treated this American Bull x German Shepherd dog with EFT, but her I instructed to re-absorb the fluid . . . slowly enough for the edges of the wound to heal properly & smooth. . . . So, it did not drain & I couldn't see evidence of it being drained (like I had with the Rottie) immediately . . . but, in time I could tell the swelling was definitely shrinking. And -like the Rottie- this dog's ear also healed perfectly smooth & just as thin as it had been before!
    Since neither dog ever developed this problem again, I figure their problem w/ aural hematoma had been very likely tied in with their prior diet, whether due to it having been the grain in it, or not.
    We could ill-afford a vet's care & had already used EFT with great success for a variety of several other problems, so opted to see what it could do for this one . . . and were VERY glad to see them get back to normal without the risks of any drugs or surgery!
    I just wish we'd had a camera to document before & after pics of each dog's aural hematoma experience (etc.)!

    I really wonder about the decision to have the surgery for Lucys Ear. The Dog of my parents (3yo) just had the same problem about 2 months ago and they just kept draining it until it was healed and treated the infection with medication. Surgery never even was an option to be discussed for that. Doctor Romy even said to lucys owner that it is not life threatening and that with draining the worst thing that could happen would be a cauliflower ear, which is (as far as i know) just an esthetic issue. With the use of the anasthetic for surgery, they put Lucy into an actually risk of not waking up and die. She even said the procedure is not the problem but her age is. With just draining and treating the infection with medication, she would never have been an unstable bloodpressure...

      That beep is the life blood pressure monitor so the vet knows what's happening without watching the screen. It works a bit like the beep for the blind at a crosswalk.

    Has anyone ever tried putting a leach on a hematoma? Knew a cat. They just left it. It was supposed to be the best. Very old cat, too. It healed but it left the ear permenantly crumpled.

    It's a shame how soft this show is, always blurring out the surgeries and procedures, no other vet or medical show I watch dies.
