Oof. poor digby really needs to see a really good behaviourist. I bet that's hard to find and prob not cheap either. But gosh, that level of agression must be so stressful for him. I really hope the fam finds a way to tackle that issue. They clearly care for him.

I felt so so bad for Jimmy but understand his angst. We had a 20+ year old cat who recently passed away (we don't know her actual age because she was a rescue) who hated ALL change etc (and even though she loved cuddles and being a lap cat in her later years she still looked perpetually grumpy). Funnily enough she LOVED her vet appointments, our veterinarian always pampered her and even started calling the appointments "Spa Days" (she also was the only animal we've had that did not need any kind of sedation for nail trims- every vet appointment it was literally like she was getting a mani-pedi!)

My first dog dreaded the vet clinic. We would go in and he would immediately hide under the chair and I used to get on my hands and knees and grab his paws to drag him out. My last dog would go out of his mind when we pulled into the vet parking lot, he loved the vet he knew when we would drive by the clinic. They all have their personalities.

I've rescued and kept literally dozens of cats...43 over my adult life...and some are less social than even others from their litter. But I understand what she means very well. The fact that a cat that was homeless, probably been hurt by people and is scared of them, or is in a lot of physical pain, and yes, PTSD, can completely trust even just one human is such an honor. I've had some like that, that never trust anyone other than me, and some like one currently, who has learned that if mom...me...lets someone in the house, he can trust that person, too. THAT is a huge honor to me, that he trusts me so much that he might not know someone, but if I do, he's okay with them. Mind you he will still lie, staring at them 10 feet from them, sizing them up, until HE is satisfied by his own instincts.

I recused and saved cats several years , with the help of my small town vet I had so many spayed& neutered.. my house being on the outskirts of town I found so many dumped around and in my yard, so many with bulging infected eyes and newborn kittens… at one time I had over 40 at once, and our local animal shelter helped me too and we fostered and got them adopted to good homes in nearby towns too. I had my hands full , being the sole caregiver full time to my husband of 40+ years who was terminally ill. Caring for and getting the gratitude and love from the cats is what truly kept me sane!

God... wasn't expecting to have a mini panic attack today watching a sphynx cat get spayed. We had a little Corgi, he was one of those animals, like Jimmy's mom talked about. We just had that connection you can't fully explain. He was 6 years and one month old exactly. He went downhill so fast. He had a rare heart condition that came up out of nowhere. We drove 2 hours to see a specialist vet on a Saturday evening. We were there for awhile talking to the vet. We finally left and headed back home without him. They were going to try to drain some of the fluid build up from his abdomen when we were leaving. We got a call 5 minutes down the road saying that he had a heart attack on the table and they were unable to get him breathing again. That was almost 4 years ago.

Seeing all these cats that are sweet for their owners but mean to their vets reminds me of my beloved Bat. Sweetest black kitty, he let me puck him up by the neck and put a blanket on him when I was a little kid. But send him to the vet, and he was a monster. They considered it a good visit when no blood was spilled. There was one time when bat was really sick (I think he had kidney stones?) and when they got him out of the carrier, the nurse was panicking. "It's bat, and he's actually docile! There has to be something really wrong!" Despite all that, he lived to almost 20 years old before an inoperable tumor burst.
RIP bat, it's been almost 8 years since you left us and I still miss you 😢

I completely understand how she feels about her cat Jimmy.
I rescued an injured cat. At the time I wasn't in a good place mentally due to long term illness & constant pain.
I nursed her bk to health & we became so close. She was very scared & skittish around other like my mum & sister but not with me. She eventually warmed up to them.
She follows me everywhere & never ventures far from me. I called her Summer & She is the Greatest Thing that Ever Happened to me.
She gave me a reason to carry on. I'm still in pain but it's more managed now.
2 months ago Summer went Missing. I searched for a week until I finally found someone that had seen her.
He told me she had been run over & the next day 2 women saw her in his garden & offered to bury her.
If you've read this far, keep going cause there's a Twist!.
I mourned, I was Devastated. I got bk home & Completely broke down. My mum's not much of a hugger; I'm not either, but she wouldn't let me go, she stood there with me the whole time.
3 Weeks Ago, (2 months since she went missing).
I walked into my kitchen at 2am, Switched the Light on & Saw Summer lying on the kitchen counter!
She was Alive but Extremely Thin!
I was in shock, I woke my mum up saying "Oh my God" over & over.
I couldn't bloody believe it. But was so unbelievably Happy she was home.
Vet gave her the ok. Just had to put some weight bk on. Which she has started doing.
She's very skittish again tho, with others. She was skittish to me for a day but started going bk to her old self pretty quick.
I love that cat so much. I'm so happy she came bk.
Sorry for the long comment. 😅
Ps. I did show a picture of summer to the guy that said she died & he said it was 100% the cat in the picture. She's a pretty Distinct cat. It's not easy to confuse her for another. I've never seen another cat like her in my local area.
So I have no idea what really happened to her.

But now that she's 12 years old and I believe.. starting back when she was 10, she's been getting a little bit more grouchy with hisses and growls from time to time at the vet. A little like how some people and dogs get grouchy when they get older too. Gettin' old sucks. Lol.

Digby is just an afraid dog that deals with it by aggression. The family are doing the right thing by having a body harness with strong, robust lead with a muzzle. Just because the dog acts like that doesn't mean he should be put down im just thankfully to god that dog is with the correct family that love him and he loves them. And they are by far the most responsible dog owners i have ever seen they are clever enough to know their animal.

I hope they can find a trainer for Digby. That breed can be tricky if you don't know how to train them especially if they start to show aggression. That goes for any big dog I guess though.

Maybe you’ve mentioned this already and I missed it, but can’t these difficult patients be given a mild sedative before they come in so they’re not so difficult for your staff to deal with and you all can be safer???

I think you can add the wee dog that Chris needs to check up and give his yearly vacinations and pill. To see how anxious he is before the dog is in his office is a bit of a giggle. He handles himself well yet still gets a good bite. And then how relieved he is that he doesn't need to see that dog again for a whole year.

Someone should tell those two women with the Rottweiler; petting him right after he lunges and barks aggressively, they shouldn't be patting and petting him.
He now thinks that behavior is appropriate and rewarding.

God this gives me PTSD. I'm a vet nurse and angry cats are the beign of my existence. I once hd to deal with a cat where the owners were like "he doesn't like to be picked up" just before letting him jump on the ground. So of course it was my job to get him back up there. I put on my thick cat gloves to try and pick him up, only for him to turn around, dig his teeth into my arm TWICE right above the glove and use my face as leverage to get away.... So yeah. Give me and angry rottie any day

That beautiful Rottie needs to know his aggression isn’t getting the results he was hoping for. He needs to push past his fear and be happier instead of stressed. Plus, I think that if the owners weren’t in the room he “might” not of been so aggressive. He’s guarding them so it makes the whole situation worse.

Responsible breeders knows about the type of issues Banu has early on. Like, before they even sell the cat and should have a document from the vet. that states the cat is healthy.
That can't possibly be a pure bred with a pedigree, just another BYB housecat without fur.

We co parents them and they stay in my bed room. So we ended up javing to quarantine and disinfect my whole bedroom by moping the floor with vinegar. I HATE VINEGAR.

I know what you mean but that's the reality of having an aggressive animal, they are very difficult to handle and it's not fair to expect people to get injured for it. Sadly cats are very hard to restrain as they are very wriggly and muzzles and such do not work well. I wouldn't like it either but I'd understand when seeing the behaviour
