I think he wasn't shown in the reveal trailer, maybe
cause the more recent paper mario entries have stripped away the unique character designs and use generic ones. even though we’ve seen they’re being faithful to the original, toadsworth not being seen in the first trailer led people to wonder if for whatever reason he’d be absent, or replaced with a different/ more generic toad.
I can’t believe this game is coming out in like two months i honestly expected a Fall release for this game my excitement levels are through the roof

I like how the remake goes for a look that’s faithful to the original game while also incorporating elements from modern Paper Mario esthetics. It looks visually stunning.

@@IAmNotASandwich453 Yeah, levels which you have to revisit time and time again, either to find Things you missed or to recollect Things you already got - and don't even get me started on the backtracky mess that is Sticker Star's World 3.
Two things I hope for this. They better put a clock on the Yoshi egg when you get it, and there's a game+ mode based off of the stories that Luigi tells you.

The most interesting thing is the Thursday release date rather than Friday. Nintendo typically has Friday release dates for their games.

Yes! Big band music is cool and all but the OG ost just has an amazing quirkiness to the instrument choice and mixing. Big band feels at odds with the more creative Mario world setting. I always felt like the wierd but good syth music was a deliberate choice to match the more experimental Paper Mario world.

The one I saw immediately is that load times are way longer, disguised by slower transitions to battle and between screens.
I’m guessing the load times are longer on purpose for the transition alone. If the gamecube version is 60 FPS and the Switch verion is 30 FPS why would load times be longer on occasion ?

yeah, it appears the GCN version is much quicker to get into a battle. the animations may be cute but they'll get tiring after a while. I'd prefer it to be snappier rather than waiting on animations before I can take a turn.
I've noticed the stars on the train cars have changed. In the original, car 1 has 2 stars. In the remake, car 1 now has 1 star.
I absolutely love the visuals of this remake. I am really glad that the environment looks like it’s made of paper because that aesthetic is a thing that Color Splash and Origami King have as better than the original games. As someone whose favorite class in school was art class, I love anything that reminds me of arts and crafts.
They even threw us a bone and toned down the paper focus. I can respect the merging of old and new art style here.

I’d argue that Sticker Star started that style. It was one of the things I really liked about that game.

Since Koops is following Mario, it’s more likely after the Fortress’s event. However the only way I can imagine you getting a badge early on is if you buy a badge from the badge shop. There is star pieces back, however if this is still very early on game footage, it’s more likely from the shop over that place.
Devs just use a debug mode and give themselves whatever they want for trailer footage
Im just praying for 60fps. For me, the jump to 60fps from Paper Mario 64 was a core moment in my awe for the sequel as a kid. It felt so buttery smooth and polished. 30fps would be disappointing as I personally believe a good remake shouldn't make ANY performance sacrifices.

I'm really looking forward to playing this remake. I played the original Thousand Year door several years after it came out as I already had a wee by the time this gamecube game came out, but I'm excited to go through the whole game again on Switch
Fact this is coming out in just two months is quite the surprise, I felt certain this would be a fall release. Now really has me wondering if Nintendo has any big plans for fall given we’re probably not seeing Switch 2 this year.
1:00 This kind of error is common in trailers. I remember a similar one happening when the M&L: BIS remake for the 3DS was announced: the trailer showcased an un-replayable boss battle with the badge bar at the bottom of the screen even through badges are obtained later in the game.

I did play this on the GameCube back in 2005... But I was 8 years old and I didn't know what to do and junk.
The start to battles looks great but it appears to make it take longer to get into the battle and one thing you don't want in an RPG is to drag out the loading into battles so I hope they can be sped up.
Actual GX content. This is the stuff from the Pokémon x&y days

I think this remake is proof Nintendo is listening. The next game will have an experience system and multiple playable partners. I guarantee it.

These little details gives me hope for some new content as part of this remake, and that it's not just the original game with prettier graphics. Like, I'd still take the original game with prettier graphics, but the fact that they've adjusted some layouts/added new animations gives me hope for some new bonus content as well.
You could've always bought early badges, they key was to leave rogueport through the pipes, reenter, then go to the badge shop. 3 badges should be swapped out of the roster until you open badge chests
I'm looking forward to this game.

During the screenshots I noticed an absence of Luigi. Perhaps the point at the time was different, OR Maybe Luigi is getting his own side adventure? God I hope he gets a side adventure though.

It's hard to pick this over the original cause the gamecube version had a full fluid 60fps, and even tho this remake has tons of visual updates, it is gonna be wonkier to hit action commands, and the overall game will feel sluggish in general. This is just cause every trailer I see has been 30fps gameplay, and I am hoping with all my heart that it's just the trailers and that the actual game will be fully optimized.

I’m a little confused about the Release date.
Most of the time, games come out on Friday but Paper Mario TTYD comes out on May 23rd on a Thursday.
Is that the legit date of release or does it actually release on a Friday cause of Time Zones?

People thought the sewers were deep? There's literally a grate you can fall through that immediately leads to the sewers.

I have the gamecube version which is a good game except for the final boss a bit tuff to beat.. i still have not beat it but i did manage to get the final boss down to just 2% but it plugged me... never got to same heights after..

Iirc, Flavio is always singing prior to chapter 5, so it could still be early game footage.
I'm a bit worried that there won't be any new features. The new small details are nice and all, but not nearly a good enough reason for me to rebuy when I still own the original.

at 2:04 we knew that the sewers where not that deep you call fall in to them from a grate
I also never assumed that they were super far down, except for the pit of 100 trials. But the rest of it seemed just like the sewers you'd see in any other game
I genuinely don’t understand how anybody can look at these screenshots with a straight face and say “they barely changed anything at all compared to the original.” This remake looks amazing, yeah I know what I’m talking about. I own the original for GameCube and have played it and beat it many times.

Toadsworth was already in the original version as well. Him being in this remake isn’t new.

No hate, especially if you haven't played the first two games as comparison. I really think you'll like TTYD. Whether it takes over your #1 spot will likely come down to your nostalgia for Color Splash.
I've only played Color Splash and Origami King... I have not finished Origami King because combat.

#10 is actually a big negative as it severely slows down the pace of the battle. Maybe we will be able to turn it off, but I doubt it.
