Sweet Talkin’ Woman is an ELO must from Out of the Blue! It’s got it all and I guarantee it will get you guys in the groove!

Very early ELO when Jeff was still finding the group’s sound. Two cellos and one violin were overdubbed to make the “orchestra.” The next album used a full orchestra and was a step forward to the “classic sound.” It’s too bad you didn’t react to the hit “Showdown” from the same album. Though still raw sounding, it’s a classic grooving banger.

Mizy & Meezy, from OUT OF THE BLUE you should react to, *"Big Wheels",* which on the album comes right after, "Standin' In The Rain", a song you've already done and loved.
*"Big Wheels"* has everything you want: Jeff's iconic voice, Bev's hallmark drum sound, a gorgeous melody, and strings galore. Oh, plus the spaceship on the cover!
ps~"New World Rising/Ocean Breakup Reprise", is early ELO when Jeff was still experimenting with their sound. Having said that, I love the song.

It’s 1973 iirc. Playing electric violin and electric cellos for that unique sound.

This is Early ELO from their 3rd Album. They were still trying to find their sound but a few of their earlier songs like " Roll Over Beethoven" was one of their earlier bigger hits. Maybe you should listen to that. Great Reaction Guys

You got it right when you suspected it was part of something bigger. It is the end of a 6 piece suite and indeed early ELO. It's sublime when listened in its entirety. The violin sound is an electric violin - and yes it's not classic commercial ELO as it is pre-orchestra. You were brave to do this but try the whole suite without the pressure of needing to react. You may be surprised at the cinematic journey.

  • @coffeemakerbottomcracked

"Showdown", "Dreaming of 4000" and "Bluebird is Dead" songs are from the same album, i recommend those, Showdown was John Lennon's favourite ELO song. This album is from 1973, so therefore before the ELO's really big popularity. In 1974 their production quality really jumped when they released the album "Eldorado"

Great to see you back reacting to more E.L.O. gents. "New World Rising / Ocean Break Up" from 1973. I loved it then and still 🙏😊👍❤️

This was early ELO, when they only had 2 cellos and a violin, after this album they used full orchestras ....... Ocean Breakup (Reprise) is the reprise of th album opener........ These are the last 2 songs of a suite of 5 songs........ pity you guys didnt get it, this album is brilliant.....

Please react to the live, long drum version of SOUL SACRIFICE at the 1969 Woodstock music festival. It was where Santana performed for the first time to a large audience and the first time Carlos Santana introduced Afro/Latino fusion sound to the world and the world loved it

So many reactors fixate on Out of the Blue and A New World Record. Both are excellent albums and deserve recognition. However, ELO have so many other great albums to listen to. Consider adding Eldorado, Face the Music, Discovery and Time albums along with A New World Record and Out of the Blue as the albums that chart the rise of ELO. Some would argue that Discovery and especially Time depart from the lush ELO sound, but they are both excellent albums.
If sticking to Out of the Blue for now, you can't go wrong, but I'd highlight Sweet Talkin' Woman, steppin' Out, Big Wheels or Wild West Hero. Other great tracks are Summer and Lightning, and Jungle if you are looking for something a bit different but still classically ELO.

The ELO record On The Third day was EARLY ELO . Released in 1973. I believe Roy Wood was still with them at the time . The Early ELO was VERY progressive.

This is early E L O . On the 3rd Day was the 3rd album. The big hits were MaMaMa Belle and Showdown. My favorite from this album is an instumental called Daybreaker. The first four albums (No Answer, II, Third Day & Eldorado) didnt have the same pop sound as later ones like Out of The Blue & New World Record.
When I was younger I didnt care for the first 4 , but as Ive gotten older, I've grown to appreciate them. I think your expressions in this video echoed that.

I’ve always like elo on the third day Bev hits the drums on this album same on eldorado. Can definitely hear the bass. Michael de alberquerque played bass and was or still is an excellent blues singer
