    About Cole & Charisma:
Welcome to the official Roll with Cole & Charisma CZcams channel! Since the start of our relationship we've gotten a lot of questions about our experiences as not only an interracial couple, but an interabled one as well. On this channel you can catch us doing travel and adventure vlogs, challenges, our inclusion series, couple first times, music, and so much more! We started this vlog to bring people into our lives, to answer some questions about how we navigate the world, and hopefully raise awareness surrounding accessibility and dating in a wheelchair. You'll quickly see in our episodes that we're all about inclusion and keeping a great attitude no matter your circumstances, so if that's what you're into, you're in the right place!

I know you guys must help a lot of people. I got in an accident last week and I knew my spine was injured. While I wad lying in the ground the first thing I thought of was cole and I was super comforted and kept reminding myself if my toes don't move I can still do so much. Thankfully when I then tried to move my toes they did move and I just fractured my spine but I love the thought that Ina situation as serious as that you guys can bring comfort and knowledge to anyone who actually does become disabled. Keep doing what your doing!

Although nobody would wish to have serious disabilities, I see that people who have to deal with them, like Cole and Charisma, know how to cherish simple and precious moments like few people do. We see people arguing and being unhappy because of unimportant things. Cole and Charisma are great examples for me of how to be happy, being loyal, simple and realistic. That is so great! Thanks

I've been a quad for over 34 years and AD is no joke!!! It can mean many things are wrong. Watch your blood pressure. If it goes on too long you can have a stroke. They make me sweat profusely. I'm a c5-7 incomplete and don't sweat on a regular basis. During AD I am miserable!
Also it can be a bladder needing to be emptied type thing

I had a stroke that left me with complete right side hemiplegia. Through years of intense physical and occupational therapy, I'm back on my feet again. But my right arm/hand and right foot are always cold to the touch. The blood pools in my right foot so at the end of the day my foot is purple. I have always been an active, healthy person (the stroke was cryptogenic) so am incredibly in tune with my body.
The temperature differentiation was explained as a circulation issue. My right side will likely always be compromised but I'm so grateful to be breathing, swallowing and talking normally again! Like a spinal cord injury, people don't realize how complex it is to lose function of half your body through an acquired or traumatic brain injury. It is not "just" arms and legs. I've been following your channel for what feels like years and I appreciate your open and easy way of explaining things. You are both so amazing and I'm grateful to have found you both!

  • @mazyellow28
    @mazyellow28 Před 10 měsíci +23

Third year nursing student here so I'm just guessing but one theory why one leg is warm and the other is cold could be due to impaired thermal regulation (which has to do with poor circulation as you mentioned). Basically when you're cold your body sends more blood to your body's core so that your vital organs remain at a good temperature. One leg staying warm means the signal is broken or the mechanics for getting your blood from your peripheries to your core is impaired. I actually work as an assistant nurse in a Spinal Cord Injury unit so I will try and find out the answer to this! xx

As someone with a disability, telling someone to just ignore negative comments is annoying. If people told you to " just go to the hospital and get fixed" or "you're too beautiful to walk that way," or, God made a mistake on you, or Noone will ever marry you walking like that or when people in the parking lot tell me I'm faking just so I can park in that space. I have so many more, but one thing is don't tell that to people. That whole sticks and stones crap is lies, and mental health for many is crumbling.

I wanted to make a comment on what you were saying about people comparing themselves to your injury. I want to say this with the most respect but I feel like a lot of times what people are trying to do when they compare themselves with your injury is relate to you. Some people aren’t really good at relating to other people And I agree I’ve been through some stuff that has nothing to do with the physical injury more emotional and I felt very similar to the way you feel it only you know but that’s what I wanted to say is that sometimes people want to be able to relate, and “some people just are really disrespectful and rude “ and there’s no excuse for that .
I love you guys I love your contact and I’m glad you share all the stuff that you share you guys always put a smile on my face. Thank you.🙏🏻🤗🙏🏻🤗🙏🏻

My son Chris was a c6/c7 quad injured in 2002. About six years later, we met a former neighbor and he asked 'Is Chris walking again?' It is very difficult to educate people about the severity of a spinal cord injury. I must admit, I was ignorant before my sons accident. Ten years into his life as a quad, he made all of us in the family promise to not ever 'let him exist as a vegetable'. After his stroke late January 2021, the hardest thing I have ever had to do, was pull that plug. Love you guys, Charisma, you are a gem; and you Cole, are amazing.

I enjoy watching your channel because you are so open and optimistic about your life experiences, my life motto is I'm upright and moving forward with my life. I was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, and have had several surgeries, including :three brain surgeries for hydrocephalus ,and two back surgeries, the first one was at five days old ,and the second one was spinal cord release because of scar tissue, I also had an injury to my neck ,my discs collapsed C 3,4,5 .I use a walker or a cane for mobility. I don't mind if a child asks me questions about why I walk funny or why do you use that I don't discourage them asking questions I give simple short answers like I hurt my back, I had an operation. If an adult asks questions about my situation how much information I give depends upon what they ask me and why they are asking. This video and previous videos about your injury have been very informative and understandable and helpful to people who are new to the spinal cord injury community.

I was born with a disability, called spina bifida, my legs don’t work real well, so I don’t walk I’m confined to a wheelchair, but my arms worked just fine, but I do know how it feels to be asked, or judged about my disability

After 33 years and as the new year approaches, because my injury will be 34 years. People are still asking questions that doesn’t relate to you what I personally am experiencing as Runett as a T3 paraplegic spinal cord injury, because as Cole stated. There may be certain level of spinal cord injuries, but there’s no two people will experience the same problem.”

I have a disease called Charcot Marie Tooth. It effects my hands and wrists as well. My fingers, on my right hand, no longer straighten out and I hold the phone just like you. The reason I started watching the two of you is because I issues have quite a few things in common. I can walk, but nowhere near how I use to and I’m using a chair most of the time now.
I wish all the best, especially when it comes to those who think all disabilities are alike and don’t give us room to be unique.

I hope you'll get invitations to talk about this. It's really important to educate people to have more knowledge and awareness about spinal injury . The more information they get the better. You can share your experiences to other people and to children as well , in school for example . You're both incredible. God bless 🙏 ❤

Thank you so much always educating us... You are so amazing. Cole God loves you so much and He knew you would be of great help in the entire world. CZcams really plays a major role in allowing such info to reach so many people who used to lack such incredible knowledge. Thank you Charisma for your amazing love and eagerness to equip yourself with so much knowledge and see how confident you present to us... I love you family... Stay positive❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏💐💐💐🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦

I just watched this today and I truly can spend my whole day with the two of you. I love your personalities and info. My mom broke her neck and the doctors told her she would never walk again - she proved them wrong by the Grace of God. She's gone now but she had an attitude like Cole and she made things happen. Cole if you use cortisone on your elbows and knees that is fast healing and soothing. Keep doing you and know that I consider Charisma and you family...you're both a Godsend to us all. Much love and God bless.

    My cousin years ago.
    She had a spinal Injury,
And she had broken her leg.
She kept trying to tell her caregivers at the rehab center.
But they didn't take her seriously.
Of course infection set in and she had to have her leg ambutated.
