    About Cole & Charisma:
Welcome to the official Roll with Cole & Charisma CZcams channel! Since the start of our relationship we've gotten a lot of questions about our experiences as not only an interracial couple, but an interabled one as well. On this channel you can catch us doing travel and adventure vlogs, challenges, our inclusion series, couple first times, music, and so much more! We started this vlog to bring people into our lives, to answer some questions about how we navigate the world, and hopefully raise awareness surrounding accessibility and dating in a wheelchair. You'll quickly see in our episodes that we're all about inclusion and keeping a great attitude no matter your circumstances, so if that's what you're into, you're in the right place!

My wife and I loved your story. My wife has problems with her legs and wanted a lean on service, and I survived a ruptured brain aneurysm and several strokes. The strokes cause me to also have seizures. Someone pointed out that we needed a service dog. I joked with my wife that I needed a “Big ass dog to help get my big ass up off the ground” if I fell and had trouble getting up. She was able to find an Irish Wolfhound breeder, we named her Boudica. Now, my wife is a great dog trainer, she trained our two previous dog to do all kinds of amazing things. But she never trained Boudica as a seizure alert dog. One morning she jumped up on our bed and laid over my legs, and would not let me up no matter what. It took my youngest daughter and my wife to pull her off of me. Later that day I had a seizure. She saved our lives because we didn’t know how my seizures were caused so, we were quite afraid to leave the house. Boudica gave us that freedom, she gave us love that we will never forget. Our baby Boudica passed away three years ago and we are still grieving her loss. The huge hole she left us with, all 180+ pounds of her is hard, so,hard that we don’t know if we can ever get another dog. We enjoyed your video, thank you so much for sharing.

@@pambranscom7093 Ha, thank you so much. We would really like to, the breeder we got Boudica from only vest trained her. My wife did all the other training for us. I think (pardon my memory damage) that we got her for around $900, we have only seen Irish Wolfhounds for no lower than $3,000. Kinda high for two people on SSI.

I’ve had English Mastiffs for 30 yrs and am disabled. I fall down. But the Mastiffs keep me from hitting the floor. But sometimes they put me in the floor after I fall. They walk up my legs (beside, not on top lol) and I put my arms around their neck and they back up. They know things!! I try to always have more than one. I try to always shop for another before the oldest one leaves. They only live 8-10 yrs. They are messy drooley furie beasties. Yes it always almost kills me when one leaves - but I still have more to help me over it.

I thing Boudica simply wishes that you all consider opening your heart for another dog, who may even be already alive and waiting on you. Another dog cannot, nor will he/she take Boudica s' place, as no child can replace another child neither: they are ALL part of a set of living beings making that family thoughout time, and it is certainly NOT according to the heart of any dog, that a family looses from its swing and brightness to let space to death. To mourn is human, but let us take example of our beloved furry team-mates who will EVER be open to one dog more, one new friend, just because they are by their love so close to the essence of life. Good luck in finding soon the little furry brother or sister your Boudica ALREADY sent your family, to take over where she left. This is the peace and love dogs bring to all "their families" who are willing to listen to them. Good luck.

I will be saving this video to share with the less educated about service dogs. My daughter has one and we are looking for one as well. Because of allergies and shedding issues we need a poodle or a poodle mix with the poodle coat. Finding a standard size ( used to be called King ) poodle is hard. 😮‍💨
Your disability is obvious, mine and my daughter's are not. 🙂 Many a day out has been ruined by comments from ignorant and rude people. We are polar opposites in size and at the time she had a Great Dane who always wore his vest when we were out. Some of the rude comments we got were, "Why do you need a cane, just ride the dog."🤦🏻🙄😤
Once, I was using an electric chair🧑🏻‍🦼 in a store because I was recovering from foot surgery 😣 and the dog's lead was in my lap while my daughter was at the other end of the aisle. Someone walked past me muttering, " If you weren't so fat you wouldn't need that chair.". 🧑🏻‍🦼😤 My instant response was, "And your Mom should have used birth control.". 🫄🏻🤬😤They actually stopped and yelled at ME for being so rude! 🤦🏻🤯🤨😡 Let's just say the incident didn't end well... for them and they walked away with some scorched tail feathers!!!! 🔥🐓🐔🪶🔥

Agreed 💯, and it does not matter what they look like, lol. They come in all breeds, size, shapes and colors! It also depends on the disability and needs of the person. As to the size and or if a specific breed is best or any type. Most important is the temperament, ability to be loyal and focused to their person, not get easily distracted, follow commands and not be dog, cat aggressive etc. As well many other things!

We had our husky for close to 14 years. She was my service dog mostly when we went out into stores. At Publix as I was waiting in the pharmacy line, a person started questioning me because of my dog, Who, by the way, was lying on the floor next to my side. The lady behind me said to the rude person, “her dog is acting better than most kids!” It’s been 2 years and we miss her terribly. One day, maybe we’ll get another dog. BTW, she can be trained to know when she can relax and just be a dog. We taught our dog the word, “at ease”. She knew then it was time to have fun. When we’d say her name and, “come”, she knew it was time to be needed again.

In Canada, there is no registration for service dogs. Dogs are trained specifically for what the needs of the human are. I have been training animals since I was a kid, so when I was in need of a service dog, I took it upon myself to train a dog to my needs. I too have allergies, and there are few breeds that don't trigger me. I had a 4 lbs. Chihuahua that I trained to alert me when my glucose levels dropped or spiked. He was also trained to alert others when I need assistance. I trained him not to bark unless I was in danger, and he'd "whisper" when most dogs would bark excessively. He was very obedient and wouldn't even eat unless I told him to. He did everything I asked him to do, and never complained unless I was cleaning my bed off from all the pet hair. LOL Sure he was too small to turn off lights or fetch me a drink from the fridge, but I didn't need that kind of support. I had doctors testimony letters stating that he did a medical service and that he was well behaved, but I still got flack from some ignorant individuals.

Person-dog pairs are trained. When our pup went through obedience training, he went twice; once with me and once with hubs. People always express surprise that he listens to both of us, saying things like, “Ours will listen to him, but not me.” That’s why. People require training, too.

I used to raise German Shorthaired Pointers. Almost 35 years ago I donated pups twice to a service dog training organization. Both made it thru training and were given to people. The first pup went to a quadriplegic. We went to his 'graduation' several states from us. I was told he was the first GSP service dog ever. My line was specifically bred for intelligence, flexibility, and a larger than usual size. We were proud of our boy and grateful that we could be helping others. The folks who received the dog were planning a wedding and 'Scout' was scheduled to be their ring bearer. Not every pup had the potential, but the next time I had one I was happy to have another to donate. The dogs and the people who train the dogs and the people they serve are the real deal. I was wondering if your dog by chance was a GSP Poodle cross. She looks like it might be that mix. I hope all people in need of service dogs are as dog friendly as you two are.

I don't own a dog, but I like dogs. It's so nice to see when people have well-trained dogs out in public at the park or or in the parking slot next to mine. There are two rules I always follow when I see a dog in public: always ask before engaging while never expecting an owner to say "Sure thing!" because some people don't want their dogs engaging with strangers and that is okay. The other rule is to not bother asking or engaging with a dog in a service vest. I call that 'respect from a distance'. 😍

Thank you, also, for clarifying the laws surrounding service dogs. You can always tell when someone is scamming when they become indignant upon being asked what services the dog performs. Personally, I’ve never understood why there isn’t some simple government issued “something” (like a parking placard, etc.) but in lieu of that, if someone refuses to answer what functions the pet performs, I support the businesses in taking appropriate action.
(I initially added what mine does, as another example, but I removed it so as not to give less honorable people ideas. Mine are invisible illnesses, so I’m questioned a lot.)

She is awesome! Thanks for sharing, ALS service dogs are trained in many tasks. My friend had a service dog until her death. Roxi lives with me now. I tale her to ALS awareness for ALS. Roxi is trained to alert. Retrieve, pull off socks and bring slippers hold the slipper until each foot which was so cool. Haley loved Roxi so much, she asked me to take her. Roxi was with Haley 8 years, I will send you all a really cool video to watch its Roxi a d Haley in a 3 minute video 8 years Condensed for the ALS awareness conferences. It shows just how perfect a service animal is for ALS. Roxi is a blonde labradorite. I take her to stores to keep her trained. The managers know she's training and allow us in weekly. She is also a balance keeper, I tripped on a lifted sidewalk crash she positioned herself to keep me from falling
She's a cool pal. She cannot move to another ALS patient because of her age. Haley taught her to smile lol it's a doodler smile teeth showing lol. She is 12 years old. She us perfect for the conferences and training awareness. Keep rolling on!

Sophie is a perfect dog for the job and love ! I had a collie that I trained for my service dog. She picked up anything I dropped. I have a large brain tumor and bending down isn't a good thing for me to do. I need to train my next one but just haven't started yet. I miss my older girl ! I like the strap on your phone, it sure made it easier for her to pick up !

The two questions that people may ask you. Is that a service dog?. What tasks does your service dog provide? Last week I had to put my 16 1/2 Diabetic medical alert service dog down, Cocco was a Shih tzu he went into severe congestive heart failure. In the USA, there's no certification required for service dogs. My father had service dogs before I was born in 1966. For the deaf. My dad was the head electrician for a tire building company. All of my dads dogs understood sign language commands. They were all trained n breed by my dads brother. If you want a great service dog , training happens on a daily basis. Cocco was trained by me . He was the most amazing dog I ever had. And my dad had all German Shepherds. There's good training programs for service dogs in alot of States. But if you were told that Sophie is certified there's no such thing. I glad you have Sophie she's a beautiful dog. ❤ Give her a hug from me I miss my Cocco. The most important thing between a service dog and the person its helping is the bond of love you make with your dog.Trena

I always hear from popular trainers that dogs need and love to have a job. You just proven this, now I want to try to train my dog to do a couple of things for us. When I first got my 70lb Pit rescue, he showed me he could open the fridge, yikes not a good thing for him to know, I had to tape it shut when I went to work.

I self trained my service dog and I would not trade him for the world because like you I have found that the support that he provides the most is the emotional support. We do have tasks that he helps with but he always is there for me emotionally. once your dog knows how you communicate and how to learn, they pick up these things really fast and it just creates this dynamic between you and your dog that is beautiful. Our service dogs can be emotional support dogs. Just because they are one does not mean they cannot be the other. Thank you for educating the general public because it helps all of us.
